if the gov't would have given that $ to me the economy would be stronger. my wife would have spent most of it by now.

My father died suddenly back in 1985.
We had a difficult time stopping the mail he was receiving, including checks.
One company insisted that they could not stop sending him materials unless they got a signed statement from him saying he was dead.
Note that this was a business, not the government.

The federal government has doled out more than $600 million in benefit payments to dead people over the past five years, a watchdog report says.
And, predictably, they are lobbying for more for the next five fiscal years.
