TODAY IS THE DAY

We assume you're already pounding beers biting your nails in anticipation of the match today between Japan and the attractive but feisty US Women's Kickass National Soccer Team, with the winner wnning the World Cup. Here's a story by Mrs. Blog, and here's a column by Mrs. Blog. (Here on this blog we are big fans of Mrs. Blog.) Also, in case you haven't seen it, here's US coach Pia Sundhage, in one of the more surreal scenes you will ever see in international sports, serenading the press corps with the traditional soccer fight song Feelin' Groovy.

UPDATE: That was tough. But congrats to the Japanese team, for never giving up. And thanks to the US women, for playing hard, and making an otherwise boring summer sports scene wonderfully exciting, at least for a while.

Good luck. I have no TV, so I'll have to wait for the blog to tell me who won.

Also, we here in LA got an inch or so of that tsunami, so we deserve sympathy, too.

Two great articles Mrs. Blog! I'm ashamed to admit I also haven't paid as much attention to the women's soccer team as I should have. Hopefully now, win or lose, they'll get the recognition they deserve. Go USA!!

The column by Mrs. Blog was GREAT. (I liked the story, too, but I liked the column better.)

Thank God we aren't asking the men's team to sing "Feelin' Groovy"! And thankfully Pia can carry the tune. If (when) the US wins today, we should all go around singing "Feelin' Groovy".

Mrs. Blog is a very talented writer. What does Mr. Blog do for a living?

Feels groovy, but still doesn't care for soccer.

I saw Pia singing "The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy)" on the news last night. She can sing! Glad to see she's more mellow than certain male coaches I could name.

Now that the psychic octopus (which WBAGNFARB) is dead, they are going to an elephant for their World Cup picks.

Hint: she doesn't pick the US.

Aye yi yi! Overtime!

OMFG

I can NOT take this pressure. Go USA! Overtime: the true cause of the hypertension epidemic.

Bummer. Looks like the elephant was right.

Or you could look at it that Japan needed it a lot more than we did, what with what they've gone through this year.

Both sides deserve applause.

Ah, pretzels!

Great game USA. Congratulations Japan who I might add were gracious winners.

I forgive them, and Shannon Boxx can still marry me.

Missed the game, but really like MRS BLOGS two columns...her love for the sport is felt with every sentence. Thanks for posting them!

Also, thought Steve B's comment was funny.

I agree Novanglus. I think Mr. Blog sings with some sort of rock band. Hippie.
