I guess we can be glad it was not carrying a live atomic warhead? That would mess up the day

ofg:
The Navy and Air Force have accidentally dropped a few nukes. 4 over Palomares Spain in the 60's, which were recovered, and one which is lost in the mud at the bottom of Savannah harbor.

At least we know the pilot wasn't injured. I have no doubt that dropping missile parts on vehicles is a hazardous assignment.

I'd love to see the insurance claim.

Wiredog, that was my point. Didn't a b-52 crash close to Spain years ago carrying live weapons? Live, just not armed yet.

ofg:
Yeah, that was Palomares. Helluva mess, several acres of Spanish countryside were contaminated with plutonium and transported to the US.

There was also a nuke that accidently went along for an extra ride before someone realized that it was missing.

When I was a young Air Force Bratette, we were evacuated from school a couple of times because of a bomb rolling off a plane while still on the runway. Not surprisingly this mostly happened when my dad was stationed at Eglin Air Force Base in...........Florida.

Insurance adjuster, "Ok what happened here?
Accidentee,"Well, a piece of a Navy jet fell off and hit my truck and...."
Insurance Adjuster, "You know you can go to jail for fraud, what really happened?"

Mostly off we go into the wild blue yonder,
Some stuff falls to the ground

This is why we need to protect our Second Amendment rights. We should all have personal missile interceptors to prevent damage to our sacred pickups.
