MEANWHILE IN THE WORLD OF POPULAR MUSIC

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Police say a vehicle they chased Thursday night was one of the vehicles connected to a shooting involving rap star Waka Flocka Flame.

I'm so embarrassed. I didn't even know that Waka Flocka Flame was in town.

WFF international tour date at Car Stereo Warehouse. Big star.

I have a theory on how these rap stars get their names. It involves illegal substances and bad decisions.
But it doesn't explain how so many of them get so much money, so it's a work in progress.

His partner is Whata lotta Bull.

Loudmouth, it reminds me of "Bloom County's" Billy and the Boingers World Tour: April 10th in Albuquerque -- the 49th annual Moose Lodge Banquet in the Hiawatha Room at the Motel 6.

Shame on you, cindy. I thought you kept up on local popular culture.

Waka, Waka, Waka?

Steve - the names and money come from the same illegal substances and bad decisions.

If I were investigating this case, I would round up all the music critics first. If anyone had a motive to shoot Waka....

Per Wikipedia:

Juaquin Malphurs was born in Jamaica, Queens, New York City in 1986. ... He is the son of Debra Antney, Gucci Mane's former manager and CEO of So Icey/Mizay Entertainment.... The name "Waka" was given to him by his cousin, after the Muppets character Fozzie Bear's catch phrase, "Waka Waka". The name "Flocka Flame" was given to him by rapper Gucci Mane..."

BTW, Wiki heads this section "early life." The idea of anyone born in 1986 having an "early life" causes me to laugh til I wheeze and my old bones rattle.

Never heard of him. Who the flocka is he anyway ?

Betsy, I have shoes I bought in 1986 that aren't even broken in good yet. I completely understand what you're saying.

i am howlin at this thread, and the thought that this dipwad is actually named after fozzie's character, and even more sadly, i grew up in and around jamaica ny. but at least substantially before 1986. in fact, i had already left queens by then, and i surely would have anyway if i had known this bozo was moving in.
i have sox older than him.

Rap stardom in NC? Yeah, he's really made it. His PR guy probably set up the shooting as a marketing ploy - 'well, he can't sing, so we'll make him gangsta famous by getting him shot at.'

Will he have a mash-up, called "Waka Seagulls"?

y'all are so old and white... i coach basketball and 'chill' every so often with urban yutes and have been subjected to mr. flocka's music several times and i can tell you this about mr. flocka: he deals drugs and he busts heads. he mentions those things several times in each song as far as i can tell. he is also fond of the "f-bomb" but doesn't care for "punk-ass n1gg@z".

Whatchu talkin' about Willis ?

So someone set out to whack a Waka Flocka Flame?

mud...how does he feel about ho's?
