Tastes like chicken?

He sucked that sucker right in, didn't he?? *snork*

Is the reporter going to swallow a spider to catch the fly?

Another outstanding example of "Journalism on the fly!"

I knew a reporter who swallowed a fly.

I don't know why, he swallowed a fly.

I guess he'll die.

(We teach our children some pretty gruesome stuff!)

Would you like .... never mind.

bonmot,
"Ring around a rosy" is about the Black Death...

I know. Ashes, ashes, we all fall down. Pretty grim.

But pretty fascinating that an event that killed off a third of Europe eight hundred-odd years ago is still in our consciousness.

I agree with your basic point, bon & wiredog (any Grimm's fairy tale is proof enough), but for what it's worth, see here.

That's one way to get buzzed.

Who hasn't had the experience of settling down to sleep on a warm summer night? And then, along comes Kamikaze Mosquito diving right into your ear? She has to do that. She's defending her homeland, the old tire out in the yard with all that standing water.
That fly just kicked it up a notch.

I try not to swallow large flies, but I have no problems with eating mosquitos (which are technically flies); after all, they're trying to eat me.

I've done a lot of canoeing in the Arctic; bug dope and head nets are useful for protecting yourself, but there's no way to keep the skeeters out of your food. Hot oatmeal is a particular favorite for them. You learn to just swallow the extra protein. At least the Arctic skeeters don't carry malaria, etc.

I do not swallow spiders, cats, goats, horses, etc. It's uncouth.

I just wish someone would shoot those perky newscasters...

Ribbit.
