Hopefully the participants weren't still in them.

ugh. get the gas masks. feetum stinkums!

Yeah, the Astros did this yesterday in Fort Meyers, too.

That's not so odd. You don't wear socks with deck shoes, so that's their way of celebrating the vernal equinox and the beginning of sailing season. Rather druidical, really.

Perhaps they stuff the socks so they can stand around the fire then go off sailing the high seas.

I can't help but wonder if this might be a version of some ancient pagan-sailing Spring ritual whose meaning has gotten corrupted or mixed up over time.

"Spring Equinox" => "Flaming Socks"?
"Re-Birth" = "Reeks of Earth"?

Yep, the Druids are world-renowned for their sailing expertise. It only took a year's worth of virgin sacrifices under an ancient Oak at Midnight with a silver knife and It takes work to get the Americas Cup back.

The "Druid Corsairs" WBAGNFARB.

Actually I think the "Corsair Druids" works better.

When I was a kid we caould always tell it was fall by the smell of burning leaves in the air. Spring and burning socks? Not so much.

And it will be just a few short weeks until the Yankees will be burning the Sox.

Maryland has otherburning problems. Where are the Stink Police when you need them?

And Layzeeboy? The Braves will be burning the Yankees.
