YOU CAN'T BE TOO CAREFUL

A Pittsburgh-area teenager has been suspended from middle school when a random search turned up an eyebrow shaver in her handbag. Officials at Linton Middle School in Penn Hills recommended at a Wednesday disciplinary hearing that 15-year-old be expelled for the rest of this year and 45 days next year.

Yeah a terrifying weapon of mass destruction there.

and yet, the terrifying eyelash curler is allowed.

What horror!

Those shavers should only be used during a sleepover.

Isn't shaving something one does before one goes to school?

I agree NotSherly. Why would anyone take an eyebrow shaver to school? For an emergency eyebrow shave? I think the punishment is too harsh though.

I think the fact that the other kids now know this teen needs to shave her eyebrows is punishment enough.

With rules like that, everyone would be expelled from Romania.

Was this a large caliber eyebrow trimmer? Was a silencer attached?
I personally believe that we should have zero tolerance for zero tolerance policies.

Damn kids carrying weapons to school. Unibrows are not an excuse.

She's 15 years old and still in middle school? She's not the brightest porchlight on the block, is she?

Am I the only one having deja vu here? This item is from May 21 and I could swear it was already posted and discussed.

Nope - I checked. Not posted (so Judi's job is safe for now).

My bad.

Judi!! Jeff's trying to get you in trouble again!

Phil,

If they do in Pittsburgh like they do here in Denver, high school frosh (age 15) are still in middle school. 'Twas embarrassing, true, but I tried to make the best of it by hazing teasing the 7th and 8th graders that I was the big fish in their little pond. Of course, if I had shaved my eyebrows, this would not have worked...

Mville, I agree wholeheartedly - I may have inherited my 90-year-old father's eyebrows, but I want everyone to think they grew perfectly groomed like this!

Well, it's back to tweezers, I guess.

The idiots have probably banned tweezers, too...

...If I were the parents of that kid, I'd be looking for a good lawyer.

Let's get this over before it really starts. All the standard lines...

"When eyebrow shavers are outlawed, only outlaws will have eyebrow shavers"

"You can take my eyebrow shaver when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers"

"My president is Estee Lauder."

Prevent school eyebrow massacres in CO. Can't have all those surprised looking children.

This is one of many reasons why school administrators need to be required to continue teaching classes along with their administrative duties. As it stands now, they spend too much time in their ivory towers and end up making ridiculous decisions like this. (There must be some sort of brain-rotting bacteria in administration buildings that turn otherwise intelligent teachers into mindless government bureaucrats.)

Blame the voters, not the administrators. They have to enforce the rules of whatever idiot gets elected to the school board. "Oooh we're going to demand that the kids are made safe by passing a zero tolerance policy!"

What about the idiots that just banned HUGGING??

Oy

HUGGGGSSS Siouxie! (Maybe banned in the schools, but not on THIS blog!!!!)

Better watch it, Jeff, or Judi will fire you.
