Shrew Shot Venom Through Blood-Red Teeth
"Mega Shrew" would be a good name for a rock band.

It's smaller, but the Northern Short-tailed Shrew in the Northeastern U.S. is also a venomous red-toothed shrew. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blarina_brevicauda
Despite their size, they are vicious predators (and cannibals), I've never heard of a tame one, and you can't keep them together in captivity -- there can be only one.

They said "extinct," right?
Is there any way to make something more extinct? Like, could they cremate that fossil? At the very least they should stomp on the bones. No sense taking any chances.

My thoughts exactly padraig. What is with these scientists finding all these creepy fossils? I just hope they don't decide to try some type of cloning experiment with the DNA. They are extinct for a reason afterall.

I agree with Ralph:
"Komodo dragons slice open their victims, adding venom to the open wound. “If you keep it bleeding and lower its blood pressure, it’s going to lose consciousness, and then you can tear its guts out at your leisure..”

"To date, all the medium to large-sized Soricidae fossils discovered in the deposits of the Sierra de Atapuerca belonged to Beremendia fissidens"

Brings back fond (?) memories of one of my girlfriends. I later named a pet tarantula after her because both would wait with great patience for the victim to make a mistake, then pounce and kill.

i think she must have been related to my mother-in-law, Steve. (the gf, not the tarantula. .. OTOH..)
