A 90-year-old man had to be rescued after straying onto a high speed dual carriageway on his 8mph mobility scooter.

The cane is for hooking to bus bumpers in order to reach escape velocity.

"High speed dual carriageway"? That sounds like the name of the turntable I had back in the seventies.

*actually, i still have it*

he was probably driving on the wrong side of the road, they do that in England, you know...

90 years old and driving a scooter on a freeway. And he doesn't ALREADY live in Florida? I don't care if the guy IS British, the law is very clear...people like that are absolutely required to move to Florida when they turn 65.

Bike Week starts here in Daytona Beach on Saturday. I say he should get an all expenses paid trip for him and his scooter.

Reminds me of my favorite driving joke:

"Grampa, we're so relieved you managed to drive here safely. The news said there was a maniac driving on the wrong side of the highway!"

"Only one? I saw hundreds of 'em!"

I rather doubt if his scooter is "street legal" ...

No turn signals to activate in perpetuity ...

Random - I had a Dual too! Long gone, but I kept my Sony reel-to-reel until just a couple of years ago.

There was a young man in a motorized wheelchair who was in the crosswalk when the light changed. An Eighteen-wheeler pulled out and didn't see that the wheelchair was stuck on his front bumper.

911 thought the first call was a prank, but after a few folks called it in a police car went out in hot pursuit.

Everything ended up fine, although the wheelchair was not designed for travel at 50-55 mph.

The driver was not issued a ticket, but the young man in the wheelchair was given a warning for not wearing a safety belt. With video proof!

He's single, Siouxie. And a rebel.

(he 'took a wrong turning'??? - that article needs to be rewritten in English)

Dennis Hopper has aged quite a bit, it seems.

*Wows and flutters @ random and pogo*

"Get yer motor running
Head out on the highway
Lookin' for adventure
And whatever comes my way..."

"I'm going to Scotland today Ma".

"That's good ,dear.Be back by tea time"?

Annie, that IS "English" ... the Brit version ...

*An Irishman/woman would never make that mistake ... right?*

I assume he's been sent a Florida drivers license.

Didn't he play McCartney's Grandfather in Hard Days Night?

WOO HOO, Annie!! My kinda man!

Sorry, Wes. Didn't see your post. I blame the bot and being all flustered by the hawtness of this old dude.

He needs goggles, an aviators cap and a white silk scarf.

He whould have been more comfortable on the M25 where traffic often moves at only 8 mph.

This is not fare. because it's dangerous. Alays follow the traffic rules.
