Imagine a three-year-old boy being booked under the Goondas Act in Uttar Pradesh?

Okay . . . now what?

I think he was lying about his age . . .

Even more alarming, from MKJ's link: When the cops and the mafia join hands, impossible is nothing. Yoda is alive and well, and is now editing the Times of India!

"even a child was not spared after a FIR was filed against him"

The FIRs are coming. This can't be good.

The Goonda Act, as it exists in other states, is
specifically directed against organised urban crime. It allows the city
police to proclaim a habitual offender a goonda and order him out of the
city for a specified period.'
-- Seems to be a relatively sane post, at least compared to us.

Googling goonda. What is the world coming to?

Another word you can use!

OK, I give up, how do the Goondas act in Uttar Pradesh?

Uttarly goony, Mot.

They meant to say goombah ...

The full name of the act is: "The Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Bootleggers, Drug-offenders, Forest-offenders, Goondas, Immoral Traffic Offenders, Slum-grabbers and Video Pirates Act, 1982."

It is unclear what the three year old did to violate the act. It sounds like, at the very least, he needs a time out.

Meanwhile, in Mysore...

(sniff, sniff)...I smell curry...somebody cooking?

Does Richard Gere know about this?

hey- there are some tough 3 year olds out there. anybody visited a preschool lately? all kinds of misuse of blocks, and of course, bullying with crayons...

They threw the book at him.
A pop-up book.

Did you see this other story ? My lord, what is going on in Indian politics ??

So, his "being booked under the Goondas Act" apparently means "a FIR was filed against him". So glad they cleared that up for us.

So they think the kid was a gangster, eh?

Dr Doug's linky ...

"Uttar Pradesh" is a cleverly named state in upper India. The name translates as "Upper State"...

Thanks, Allen at Division. Now my day is complete.

Oh, and Yay, ganderson27 got posted!!!

I think he had a mullet.

That is one profound sentence...
