The South Park guys said they will not be making fun of Britney because it is way to sad. I mean if it has gotten to that point things are really bad.

Oh, goodie. HE gets them. Much better.
*eyeroll*

God help those children, when FedEx is the lesser of the two evils.

I can't comment without stepping on a few toes but...who smokes steaks?
Posted by: Hammie Hamster | October 01, 2007 at 04:44 PM
It is sad.
To prevent unwanted offspring, we spay and neuter pets. Just sayin'...

Whoops! My computer jumped stories. No kidding. (not no childrening)
Posted by: Hammie Hamster | October 01, 2007 at 04:47 PM
Lord, for her sake, and the kids' I hope she's hit bottom now. I have a feeling though, that she's going to use some additional "self-help" before gets her life back together. Really sad.

Hammie, I've had that happen to me, and the bot always waits for the most inopportune time to do it!
Posted by: Wench Lizzy | October 01, 2007 at 04:51 PM
Wench and Bot it once happened to me when I was commenting on a will not make fun of the name story but my posted ended up on a 9/11 post.
Posted by: Recovering 24 Addict | October 01, 2007 at 04:53 PM

Recovering Addict---the bot is alive, I just know it!
Posted by: Wench Lizzy | October 01, 2007 at 04:55 PM
Ham, thanks for explaining that. I thought I had missed something about Brit or FedEx.

OT Nobody has mentioned the Bengal beer-drinkers vs pidgins yet. It's even talked about in Arizona.
Posted by: JEC666 | October 01, 2007 at 05:00 PM
I hope that this serves as a wake up call to Brit and this helps get her cleaned up. I can't imagine what it would be like to have your children taken from you (not yet havign the pleasure of being a mother, this is an assumption on my part; who knows, though, you may want a break every once in a while?).

Poor, pathetic Federline
Oh my darling, oh my darling,

You're a bad and pouty father
Lousy lover Ferderline.
Tight he was and like a fairy,
and his shoes were just like mine

No T. McAnn for Federline.

MKJ - with FKed in charge, the kids may end up on eb@y. Or a pay-per-view reality show. Or both.
Posted by: Annie Where-but-here | October 01, 2007 at 05:22 PM
I think I'll be skipping Britney updates from now on. I really think she's on the Marilyn Monroe/Jimi Hendrex/Janis Joplin track. But without the talent. (Okay, I had to get one last one in.)
Posted by: fivver | October 01, 2007 at 05:32 PM
Wow. That is all.

"Gordon also told both parents to avoid alcohol or "other non-prescription controlled substances" 12 hours before taking custody of the children"
Okay. I don't mind folks having a drink now and again, but if they have to be TOLD to not do illegal drugs... I mean, the way this reads, they can say, "But, your Honor, it was 13 hours before the kids got here..."

Isn't it weird that this type of story is always on the first page of the 'Entertainment' section . . . oh boy am I entertained now . . .
Posted by: Mahatma Kane Jeeves | October 01, 2007 at 05:58 PM
Agreed, Dave. No funny bits left here. You can only hope for a miracle for those poor kids.
Posted by: Meanie the Blue | October 01, 2007 at 06:21 PM
Truly sad. I was really hoping she would have gotten a clue by now after being TOLD not to drink by the judge. I can't imagine KFed being a better and responsible parent. I pray she "gets it" now. As a mother, that would be the worst thing that can happen to me (other than something terrible happening to my girls).
Wake up, Twit!

I'm reminded of something Dennis Miller said a few weeks ago, about being afraid of making jokes about her and finding out the next day that she's killed herself.
Also, check this out from Craig Ferguson about why he won't make fun of her. Typically funny Craig, but also pretty thougtful.

Non-funny...as sad as this is, let's not forget that there are a whole bunch of kids around who are worse off and don't have anything remotely like the resources of these parents, losers the press makes them out to be. Those kids might be messed up a bit, bit they'll be fed, clothed, and edumacated. Mrs. Baggins works for a head-start program, and some of those kids' homes are just heartbreaking. And there are lots of them in all of our neighborhoods.

snork @ Meanie.
I'm with fivver. I think this story will have a sad ending.
Posted by: Cheryl Howard | October 01, 2007 at 07:42 PM
As CG said this afternoon when we heard the news, "Maybe if she started wearing underpants it would be a step in the right direction".
Posted by: Eleanor | October 01, 2007 at 08:21 PM
I'm with you too, Cheryl & fiv. This has "grim" written all over it. I know she's an adult, but somebody needs to step in before it's all over.
Posted by: Meanie the Blue | October 01, 2007 at 08:35 PM
Yes, El - she's over-exposed.
Posted by: Annie Where-but-here | October 01, 2007 at 08:35 PM
Annie - she's more than over-exposed...
Posted by: Kathybear | October 01, 2007 at 09:42 PM
This story made me sad from the moment I first heard the news. Yes, Ms. Spears may be "messed up" and her career is in a smoking heap, but I'm sure she loves her kids, and they love her in return (To the best of a toddler's ability).
I hope that she finds solid ground again, and soon. Right now, she's probably as down and depressed as it is possible for a human being to become
It doesn't matter who you are, what you did, or where you came from. She's suffering, and that is both sad and wrong.
Posted by: PirateBoy | October 01, 2007 at 11:57 PM
Sad. Just...sad. My brother's ex has custody of his son, and that's so hard on him. I can't imagine what Britney must be going through. I'm sure this can't help.
When comedians announce they won't make fun of somebody anymore, that really says something.
I really wish she'd get help. I hope this doesn't end like Marilyn Monroe/Janis Joplin/etc. :(
Posted by: Blogchik | October 02, 2007 at 07:18 AM
Her "suffering" is the result of her own behavior. The poor kids, on the other hand, are innocent victims. I have no sympathy for her but my heart bleeds for the boys.

I must preface my remarks by stating that I am not a medical or psychiatric professional. I am, however, the mother of a child who suffers from bipolar disorder and oppositional defiance disorder. I have done an enormous amount of research on mental illness, and I probably know just enough to be dangerous.
Nevertheless, during her very public, long, drawn-out meltdown, I keep wondering if maybe Britney is suffering from some extreme form of depression. Her behavior has been more self-destructive than anything else, and that is a hallmark of mental illness, including bipolar disorder and depression. Her having two children in less than two years is only one symptom. This behavior started before she became involved with Kfed--does anyone remember her first marriage?
I agree that it becomes really scary when Kfed looks like the stable parent, but at the same time, I can't help but think that Britney needs not only drug and/or alcohol intervention but she also needs medical and psychiatric help. I can't laugh at her, I haven't been able to do so for a while now. Someone who cares for her, whether that be a friend, a family member, an attorney, or whatever, needs to step in now, or she will become another Marilyn/Janis/Jimmi.

Meanie -- that was *brilliant*.
This is still sad all round, though.
