"Lamellar spacing alone does not lead to resource partitioning."
I tried that line in a bar once.

"The software allowed me to create exact, three-dimensional replicas of duck bills complete with articulating joints" said Gurd. "And then Kelly LeBrock came over for a visit."

Maybe coloring makes some easier to shoot? Is that a survival disadvantage?

"Ducks with long lamellae are more efficient at selecting smaller food particles while ducks with short lamellae, like mallards, are more efficient at selecting larger particles."
How does this help the size doesn't matter debate?"

D. Brent Gurd probably LOVES to relax with a good game of DUCK-DUCK-GOOSE. No doubt he was inspired when the "it" person kept going round & round "duck-duck-duck-duck-duck
-duck-duck-duck-duck-
duck-duck-duck-duck-
duck-duck-duck-duck-duck-duck-duck"

"Lamellae and Detritus" was my favorite Shakespeare play.
Posted by: Stevie W | March 01, 2007 at 10:17 AM
Hmmm. I wonder if Fed Duck has a long lamellae. Is it rude of me to ask? Should I just use my imagination?
Posted by: casey | March 01, 2007 at 10:25 AM

*hides flame thrower*
Posted by: Siouxie | March 01, 2007 at 10:27 AM
Well, I just checked my lamellar spacing....no wonder I'm not avoiding lots of detritus. Anybody else having that problem? Will that help me coexist? Will Tonto find the Lone Rang....er... Nevermind.

Donald Duck at the optometrist's office:
Where would you like your new bifocals, Mr. Duck? And how would you like to pay for them?
Just put them on my bill.
Pah-dump quack.

"Hmmm. I wonder if Fed Duck has a long lamellae. Is it rude of me to ask? Should I just use my imagination? "
And it would be lamella in the singular. Unless you think he has two...

This is why I often tell people who are "on the heavy side" to check their lamellar spacing for resource partitioning problems.

I know it goes without saying, but since when has that ever stopped anyone here.
