Some are freezing; some are snacking on (yum!) toad venom.

"The workers believe the boa may have tried to get out of the cold weather by slivering into a nearby water pump house."

Looks like the editor slivered away too.

*wonders if the snake hallucinates, and if so, if it sees Martha trying to take its soul*

"We never expected this to happen," said Miller. "We've been entertaining ourselves. It's been a lot of fun, really."

fivver does not want to know how you are entertaining yourselves with a dead, frozen snake. Thank you.

*Foregoes the primal pleasure of declaring chronological supremacy*

HEY DAVE - JUST WANTED TO SAY THANK YOU FOR YOUR WONDERFUL ARTICLES AND FOR THE GREAT ACT YOU DID AT THE SAMANATHA FOUNDATION GOLF TOURNAMENT THE PAST 2 YEARS. THIS IS WAS EVEN BETTER WHEN YOUR LOVELY WIFE MICHELLE STARTED THE ROLLING STONES GUITAR AUCTION OFF FOR A 2K BID AND YOU WERE FREAKIN OUT AND PRAYING THAT SOMEONE WOULD BID AND WIN IT, WHICH EVENTUALLY THEY DID. BEST OF LUCK IN 2007 TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.

Hutchinson and her team still don`t know exactly how the snakes squirrel away the poison and transfer it to their venom glands without digesting it.

Disturbing choice of verb, no?

Stevie I was thinking the same thing. If snakes and squirrels are in league then we're doomed.

Yeah Stevie, they just had to get a squirrel in there somewhere.

I wonder if you licked those toads, would they make you high? Just asking.

lighter now my steps these days
buoyed it seems by the expanse in my heart
- stirred to flame by the charmer
intoxicating - the memory of her lingers
like a scent - spice and honeysuckle breeze
the snake and i our souls entwined
wear matching dopey smiles

what a strange world i live in
my sorrows are no less real but lighter
if not forever at least for today lifted by
the piping of a stranger
and glad of it I am / glad of it I am
next time i’ll remember that there is such a place as this
i’ll mark it in my mind
while the spell remains

Like wow, mud. Serious.

Just thinking that Toad Venom

I'm with fivver...

"We never expected this to happen," said Miller. "We've been entertaining ourselves. It's been a lot of fun, really."

Huh?

Probably eating snakesicles, Lisa.

I couldn't read the second article, 'cos that snake was looking at me funny. (meaning not funny at all)

Siouxie-I would think the snake might just thaw and slither away. They would be having some fun then-but the joke would be on them!

now i know where my missing caps went!

pictures the work men playing jump rope with the snake, snapping each other with the snake like you would with a wet towel, taking turns swinging it around their heads and letting go, competing for distance. come on ya'll these are guys. with a dead snake! of course they're gonna play with it.

uh huh, Lisa!

but guys love playing with their snakes...

Hey, if you'd posted the link I'd sent to the LOCAL newspaper (Arizona?? Come on. What does ARIZONA know about frozen snakes??), it would've included the picture, and the comment about "having fun" with the snake would've allowed for a few targeted mental imaginings. Here you go....
