Dude, I want the hundred pace pit viper. It'll go great next to my Big Angry Spider of Doom on the mantle.

Just don't pick the Enraged Naked Mole Rat -- that one's mine.

Hey look! They have a department-in-charge-of- making-titles-so-ridiculously-long-they-make-no-sense too! And I thought North America had a monopoly on that.

In case C-bol isn't here:

As the unofficial and highly disputed self-appointed spokesmallard for the Future Farmers of Just West of Peru, Indiana and Marching Kazoo Band, I would like to claim this Hundred Pace Pit Viper as our unofficial totem, inasmuch as we (the FFOJWOPIAMKB) think it's a right-smart better than the Fifty Skip Drunken Yak totem that we adopted after the last Annual Glue Snif and Hay Ride.
Of course, C-bol will have to second this (or twelfth it, as he does after a few drinks) before the motion carries.

Fed - LOL!
S'North - It's too early to try to slug my way through that title, especially when I'm trying to eat peanut butter crackers that sat overnight in my 30 deg. car. (*pwah!*)

A one hundred pace pit viper - what are they, dueling? Hmm - Dueling one hundred pace pit vipers.

*sips some hot cocoa*

Totem poles....why did it have to be totem poles?

--- Ivory Bill must be delayed this morning.

Nah, it's got nothing to do with culture - it's just easier to carve a black bear than a snake on a totem pole.

isn't a hundred pace pit viper something to do with racing? nascar or something?

"and therefore the totem began to be used incorrectly in various public construction projects and works"...

Big deal. my wife says I have been using my totem incorrectly for years.

And, er, yes, it's a pit viper.

Isn't a totem pole just a larger version of an oosik? With tattoos?

Fed - I seventh it. which is legally required in the State of Nevada except on every second Tuesday. Although I'm technically not a mallard, a farmer or a kazoo player, what was done with that Fifty Skip Drunken Yak totem was just wrong and you'll never get clean enough to reuse. I certainly would advocate getting a new one.

Fed ~ Annual Glue Snif and Hay Ride ~ LOL. And, I eleventh it.

crossgirl, that would be a hundred race pit viper

*darn* off bold

silly me!

That's not a viper - this is a viper...

try carving that on a totem pole

TCK ~ that's very cool!

(psst...glad you're back.)

I'd be concerned that using the ...precious Taiwan black bear, which is known for its intelligence and vivacity... would incite the Mainland leaders to claim it questions the "One China, many, many, many systems (as long as they're ours)" policy.

To paraphrase Ford, "you can have it in any form of government - so long as I'm in charge".

tck, i understand that some men drive those to compensate for their totem poles.

crossgirl - that may be true - just so ya know, I don't drive one of those...

i was just saying, but thanks for the clarification.

Sorry, not funny, but I don't think I've ever thought of tribal peoples living in Taiwan. I went to school with tons of Taiwanese (or Taiwanese-American) kids growing up and always just thought of Taiwan as being like Tokyo or something.

Two questions:

1. So, what's the totem of the American Redneck? A six-pack?

2. Isn't this sorta like ... the government endorsing a religious artifact ... or something ... and I thot that wasn't allowed by our constitutional rule for separation of church and state ... besides which already, fomenting an animal as a religious dealy is Un-American ... um .. what? Oh ... nevermind ...
