"The slimy space travelers began their slow descent back to Earth leaving a trail in their wake which could be seen for hundreds of miles."

some haiku
"Send snails in orbit!"
said Givi Gorgiladze
spaceship escargot
"I will be able
to pick them up and observe"
they sojourn in space
I wonder does Givi
know that "Snails from Space" would be
good name for a band?

Okay, is it just me, or is the guy in the "Stidy" cartoon (on the left column of the news24 site) blatantly groping the female next to him?
Posted by: Brainy Jello | April 26, 2005 at 07:08 AM
You're both groping the female next to him.

Scientists' theories are reeling
When snails get that zero-g feeling
If a snail's loose in space
You'll see its slick trace
On the walls, and the floors and the ceiling!

"Three-and-half hours after the Soyuz lands, I will be able to pick up the snails and observe them".
Just guessing here, but I'd put money on "they still look like snails"...
Posted by: jamester | April 26, 2005 at 08:19 AM
Don't they remember that scene from "Alien" where the snail burst out of John Hurt's chest?
Don't tempt fate!
Posted by: lurker | April 26, 2005 at 08:26 AM
Ah, yes, Jamester ... but these snails will be different (NTTATWWT) ... these will be ...
Snails from Space!
Posted by: U.O | April 26, 2005 at 08:26 AM
U.O: No they won't, mate. I've flown in an airplane, that doesn't make me "Jamester of the upper atmosphere".
Leastwise, when I so identify myself I don't get discounts on movie tickets or anything...
I says the whole thing be a crock, and we melt some butter...
Posted by: jamester | April 26, 2005 at 08:40 AM
what is NTTATWWT?
Posted by: teenage girl who shouldn't be on this blog | April 26, 2005 at 08:43 AM
teenage girl who shouldn't be on this blog: NTTATWWT is an acronym for "Noting Ternairy Trends About Tetrahedral Well-Woven Threads."It was first used in research papers in topologic geometry, but the theory extends so neatly to other topics that it's used very frequently in blogs, chat rooms, etc.

Not That There's Any Thing Wrong With That.
But in this case I believe there is something wrong with the fact that you are not in school young lady.
But, fortunately for you, this is a Family Blog and I'm all for a Higher education, so at least while you here, you can't escape learning! HA!

Observations from snail experiments:
Not knowing which way was down, the snails moved very slow and left a slimey trail.
Conclusions: Bringing snails into space was a waste of time and money.
