24
I'm probably going to miss 24 tonight. This is a really bad night to miss, because as I recall, (1) Jack is in extreme AND immediate danger; (2) Carol Channing may or may not have been shot; (3) Audrey is crying; and (4) Edgar has just given Chloe the CalTrans interface, and I do not believe he was wearing a condom.
Also of course the president in danger.
So I am counting on you good people to keep an eye on things and post updates here. Or not! That's why we love the Internet: Nobody is really accountable.
FIIIRRRSSTTTTTTT!
first time ever!

Didn't even read the blog entry.

24 is sooooo last month. Does anyone here watch The Contender? I though it was great last night how for the challenge they had to carry the Pirelli tires over the Bank of America hurdles into the Waste Management dumpsters then push the Waste Management dumpsters to the Toyotas, where they found keys to the rungs of the Home Depot ladders so they could climb the Bally Fitness truck. I bet that's just how Sugar Ray Leonard trained.

I'll never do that again... it is a true letdown.
Nothing magical or fantastic happened.
I feel like a shmuck.

Speaking of CalTrans, some guys in the office have a song to describe what we do here... This is to Metallica's Enter Sandman:
Ex-xit maps... Enter ra-amps...
Taaaaaaaake our plans.
We're off to start a traffic jam.

I realize that I'm going out on a limb here, however, I predict that jack will be bleeding at some point during tonight's episode.
hey, call me crazy, but I've got a good feeling about this.

"Good Doug, now just relax. I'm going to cuff you to this water heater and a CTU squad will be here shortly to take you in. You've done well, Doug. I'll put in a word for you to Mr. Barry."
**JUMPS OUT WINDOW, CLUTCHING "FIRST"**
Posted by: Dave (not Barry) | March 28, 2005 at 11:39 AM
Maybe it's just you, Doug. On my first first, the skies cleared and the sun came out, and birds sung and stuff. Wait...I think I got my first first at night. Well, whatever.
I may also miss 24 tonight. That stinks.
Posted by: Sam G. | March 28, 2005 at 11:40 AM
Damn, I *really* screwed that UP.
**JUMPS OUT WINDOW AGAIN**
Posted by: "JACK BAUER", dammit | March 28, 2005 at 11:42 AM
well, that kind of blows your cover, doesn't it?
Posted by: ceeg22 | March 28, 2005 at 12:20 PM
Yes, it does. I'll tender my resignation from CTU to President Barry imediately.
Posted by: Jack Bauer (aka Dave *Not Barry*) | March 28, 2005 at 12:23 PM
Doug the reason nothing happened and you feel like a schmuck is because - wait for this -
you cheated!
The rules clearly state that you must read the entry or the link vefore you can say "First"
Your first is hereby vacated and declared null and void ab initio - I hope I've made myself clear.

Wow there, CoR&RC ...
Spoken just like a lawyer-type person ...
Betcha did that on highspeed, too, dintcha?

Rules?
There aint no rules in a Dave Barry Blog Fight for First!
Posted by: Harvey | March 28, 2005 at 12:56 PM
Doug, I might have lied in court, but I would never call "first" without reading the link.
Posted by: martha stewart | March 28, 2005 at 01:11 PM
Ah yes, but where is Cubie to ask us if anyone watched Fat Actress???
Answer: no.
Posted by: Targetgirl | March 28, 2005 at 01:23 PM
Dave, to answer your questions: yes, I'm pretty sure Carol Channing was shot even though it was offstage. I'm 100% sure that Audrey is still crying, and she wasn't even shot (unfortunately).
Also, the President has been flying around in Air Force One for about 18 hours now, doing nothing (which is a good thing). I am really really hoping the guy who killed the Air Force guy and stole his identity and his finger will be flying a plane or shooting a missile into Air Force One realsoonnow.
Bring back David Palmer!
Posted by: Jeff Meyerson | March 28, 2005 at 02:06 PM
Head Terror Guy is way way mad at Terror Boy, and I'm afraid even a Terror Shovel won't help him.
...Unless of course he does some Wonder Woman moves with it if they shoot at him.
And whoa, if he does THAT, it'll take 24 to a whole new level.

HELP! I'm in Australia and desperately waiting for the 4th season to come!! It's been so long since the last one... i think about 2 years!! haha

First major update: Audrey isn't crying!
Posted by: Sam G. | March 28, 2005 at 05:08 PM
another update: Jack is looking very svelt with fake blood smeared across his face.
Posted by: Sam G. | March 28, 2005 at 05:10 PM
Terrror Mom got shot. She was dead for about 25 minutes in the last episode.
Posted by: kyli | March 28, 2005 at 05:12 PM
Curtis is choking Terror Son, and now they're drugging him. None of this would be happening if he hadn't left his shovel behind.
Posted by: Sam G. | March 28, 2005 at 05:22 PM
Edgar is Chloe's boss now. She got all up in his interface about it, but it didn't help.
Posted by: qetzal | March 28, 2005 at 05:25 PM
Chloe, Audrey, the president.
Pfehhhh!!!!
It's time for Nina Meyer and Sherry Palmer to show up.
Oh, sure, both of them were shot to death last season. That's what the producers WANT us to think. They'll be showing up shortly. Count on it!!
As a matter of fact, who are the pilot and co-pilot on the president's plane, eh? My money's on Nina and Sherry!!

According to the confusing scenes from next week, it looks like Edgar is working with the terrorists!
Posted by: Sam G. | March 28, 2005 at 06:01 PM
Shane....I don't even watch 24, and probably never will, however anytime you write a plot synopsis of the show; I will be there! Best tv I've watched (read) all night.
Posted by: MaBensink | March 28, 2005 at 06:12 PM
Bravo to your synopsis, Shane! I would only add that there was a hideously awkward scene in which Chloe articulates in her oh-so-helpful way the various alternatives Audrey should think about in dealing with the REAL issue at the heart of this season, which of course is whether DODder should choose Paul or Jack. And when I say "hideously awkward," I mean "laugh-out-loud funny."
Posted by: Moo Goo | March 28, 2005 at 06:19 PM
Masterful recap, Shane. I thought tonight's episode may have included the best example yet of Chloe's complete lack of social skills when she said something roughly like this to the romantic interest:
"I just don't know how I'd handle it. I mean you're separated from your husband and in love with Jack, and then your husband takes a bullet for jack and now faces life or death in the operating room while Jack is kidnapped by terrorists. I'm sorry. I was too blunt..." Chloe is worth watching the show for -- no one does better petulance and clumsiness.

"A twist that will change everything" It turns out that the whole thing was a VR training mission. Metal Gear Solid 2 rocks!

Didn't see 24 tonight. Took my wife to see "Miss Congeniality 2." Oddly, the plot was exactly the same as shane's synopsis.
Posted by: AlanBoss | March 28, 2005 at 09:09 PM
Awesome job, Shane. I have the episode tivo'd. I think I'm gonna make it standard operating procedure to read your review first and watch the show second.

Is it just me or do actresses with the name "Kim" (character or real) just have really stooopid parts in the plot? BAN THE KIMS!

Your Cliff Notes® on 24Hrs is Awesome!

Anyone else notice that, at night, there's a monitor in the background wall at CTU that had a video feed of a freeway *in the daytime*?
Posted by: Steve | March 29, 2005 at 05:51 AM
I think Dave deliberately misses it just so he can read the excellent posts. I mean, seriously, couldn't he afford the $199 for a TiVo box if he wanted to?
Posted by: angel | March 29, 2005 at 06:21 AM
angel --
You've hit it exactly ... key words: deliberately misses ... read ... posts ... if he wanted to ...
What Dave can find here is certainly MUCH better than he's gonna get on the program ...
Posted by: U.O | March 29, 2005 at 06:34 AM
Excellent updates on the Monday episode.
All that was missing was the musical chords growing louder before each commercial break.
I think the guy that wrote those musical tones also wrote the 'jink jink' for Law & Order. True classics.
Posted by: 42 | March 29, 2005 at 06:52 AM
You all did EXCELLENT work. Especially shane, who I suspect is writing the show.
Posted by: Dave | March 29, 2005 at 07:12 AM
Dave -
Naw, Shane's too good to write the show/script/treatment ... his stuff is actually understandable ... while at the same time pointing up the inanity of the delivery
Besides which already, what's with the banker's hours? I can't believe there is nothing happening out there ... that's only on National Nothing Day (which does not apply, worldwide) and TODAY is NOT IT ...
so, how about some new posts? Not to nag, or anything ... but when I've got daylight hours and PTO means no actual work, I like to catch up with the gang ... pretty sparse around these parts sans new material to draw them in ...
end of rant ... tnx4 being there, and for listening ...

If CTU can (try to) track Jack and terror mom by satalite, why were they so upset when thr terrorists broke the tracking devices on terror boy? Also, the terrorists had no problem when CTU broke the rule of terror boy getting out of the car alone. Head Terror Guy made the point of terror boy getting out of the car alone and Black CTU Guy gets out and it's no problem.

Shane: Hope you don't mind, but I sent your synopsis to my sis. She thinks I ma nuts for not watching, but I like reading your write-ups better. Plus, no commercials and a lot shorter.
Posted by: silver | March 29, 2005 at 02:13 PM
Dave: you should watch Galactica instead... :)

Me write the show? Naw. If I'd have written the show, there would have DEFINITELY been a tickle fight between Chloe and Edgar, Terrorist Mom would have DEFINITELY broken into at least one round of "Hello Dolly" before getting offed, and, well, basically the whole show would just DEFINITELY be about Jack's hot daughter and very little else.
"TONIGHT ON 24: Kim takes an hour long shower... with a twist THAT WILL CHANGE EVERYTHING -- she (gasp) drops the soap."

while many of you got a hoot out of the program, for those women and non-whites that work for WM, we struggle everyday to protect our lives, as WM considers us "as undesirables and very dispensable". WM has put their thoughts in writing...it is ugly and management has accepted this as "the way to manage". Not only do they pick up people's trash, the consider a great deal of their own workforce as trash...with one foot in the landfill just because we were not born white and male!
So, the next time you see a WM dumpster, you ask yourself why a corporation believes they can play God?

The amount and substantiality of the portion used. Copying nearly all of a work, or copying its "heart" is less likely to be fair.
