TRAVEL ADVISORY

Blogging may be light today, as this blog will be on the road -- but not, alas, on a frog safari.

Today is "Cook up a Storm Sunday". I'm going to make Roman Chicken, Chicken Piccata, and Pasta with prosciuto, mozzarella and peas; and pork chops fixed someway -- haven't decided yet. Half of what I'm making is going into the freezer for later.

El, thanks for supporting my Bruins. They've been ranked as high as number 1 this year, but just suffered an embarassing defeat to West Virginia yesterday.

And of course, we all know that Capitalised Jello WBAGNFARB.

Well, they're my Bruins too, boom boom. But I'm happy to share them. In my journey through many colleges in CA, while I spent most years at Berkeley, I did one semester at UCLA.

I think I'm one of the few people that love Los Angeles. :)

I did the opposite. One semester at Cal, then the rest at UCLA. Hmmmmmm.

Like ships, passing in the night, perhaps. ;)

was there any "docking?"

*snork*

I don't want to change such an interesting subject, but while we're waiting for boom boom's answer -

My ladybug looks a bit sluggish this morning. Do you think I could put some cookie crumbs near her?

OMG, I just poked her and she fell over. Dead????
*sobs*

RIP El's ladybug.

Ladybugs are the mascots of Meghan's sorority. She shares an apartment with two sorority sisters and their place looks like they are dealing with ladybug infestation.

Hi & bye!

RIP ladybug

STOP THE PRESSES!!!

She's gone from where she fell over. There's hope.

Good thing I didn't bury or flush her.

She flew away home!!

YAY!!!

That's what I'm thinking, sly! :)

And of course, we all know that Capitalised Jello WBAGNFARB.

I actually tried to post that this morning (though I said "Capitalized") but pypetad was refusing to post.

Note to sly: I wrote to them as you suggested and they said if I sent them my IP # they will add it to the "whitelist" as you suggested. I wonder, however, as the letter I sent - and which they quoted - has the IP # on it!

My sister also went to UCLA (undergrad) and to law school at UC-Irvine. She worked at the law firm headed by former Secretary of State Warren ("call me Chris") Christopher before leaving the profession.

They eat aphids, El. Next time you're at the supermarket, buy a cheapo plant that is bound to be infested with bugs. ;)

I think I'm one of the few people that love Los Angeles

...an anthem for el...

Thanks insom, that was very fun, and I'm a big Randy Newman fan too. :)

If I leave a delivery pizza (cheese and mushrooms) out overnight because there's no room in the fridge for the box, will it spoil?
Signed,
Need answer ASAP

OK. I'll go find a way to get it in the fridge.

I have eaten pizza that was left out overnight and I'm not dead yet!

Thank you Peri, but it's in the fridge. We Jews have an irrational fear of food spoilage, from all those years crossing the desert. :)

Laynie.. It probably has enough preservatives to be fine, but I wouldn't take any chances either...

*watches the resurrection of a ladybug* IT'S A MIRACLE!!!

*blushes after getting wooley long-johns flash*

Eleanor,
Left out pizza actually improves the taste.

... especially if you have it for breakfast with beer!

Brian? Fish? Lab?

*wheels in a cart loaded with danish, donuts and fresh coffee for the morning crew*

Good morning moaties!
Its snowing. Again. And will continue doing so for the majority of the week. *sigh* That is not a complaint though!! It could be worse, much, much, much, MUCH worse. We could be in upstate NY. *shudders* Those poor people are living among igloo lined roads!

During my winter in N. Mich (Marquette) we had this saying about it getting warmer when the snow started to fall...

Ooh. Danishes, Donuts and coffee ?!

No thanks DDi.

I'll just have some of this pizza I left out overnight and wash it down with this Bud Extra. (it's an Energy Beer, ISIANMTU)

Oh now that's good.

Also, yesterday while I did not break nor burn anything, I did unhook the brushblade (we call it a brush-hog) from the rear of the tractor and hooked up the boxblade (we call it a boxblade) and then proceeded to grade the 1/2 mile gravel (re: mud) drive from the county road up the main entrance of the Beaver.

{{{{ burp! }}}}

Happy Monday MOATies!

I concur that pizza needs to be fuzzy before I will eat it.

Fish,
Sorry I missed your call last night. After talking to my dad for an hour and then my neighbor after her daughter had to go for an emergency C-section, I put it on the charger in the kitchen (it stays on vibrate...and I like it that way) so I didn't hear it.

Glad to see that Beaver was good for ya!

2nd and FINAL attempt

No thanks DDi.

*wonders why a trimmer wouldn't do*

Leetie? JU's being paged on the MB!

... thread will be obvious ...

JU has been dispatched.

Some people call them brush blades... I call them kaiser blades. Now let me have some of those french fried pertaters.

I just re-read my first post from this morning and I think it should have read:

I concur that pizza needs to be fuzzy before I will NOT eat it.

I went to High School and College in Oswego, NY - my mom still lives there.

She had 8 foot of snow when I talked to her yesterday. She loves it, but it does make it dangerous to drive. She actually got snowed into her office last week!

Sorry I've been MOATless - work has decided I'm suddenly good enough for 3 jobs (I wish I was kidding) so I'm a busy little Higgy....

I have eaten pizza that was left out overnight...to no ill effect. Also, one time, some fried calamari that had been left out.

There were nearly a dozen people in this building when I got here this morning.

At least half of them had been here all night, since some time Sunday afternoon.

(This first issue is due at the printers by 1 this afternoon.)

El, I meant to mention before...my daughter once had a pet ladybug. She had gotten it from school, in a ladybug box. She kept it for quite a while. I think she gave it raisins now and then.

g'morning, all. I couldn't post earlier because - "Kimberlie"'s promise to the contrary - my 152 IP # has not yet been "whitelisted" by the thundertechs so I have to keep trying to get a different # (one starting 205 or 64) before I can post.

DDi & Higgy: I saw the people in Oswego County making those narrow paths between the huge mounds of snow and shoveling off their roofs. 100 inches in a week is ridiculous!

A huge Sarah J.-like "Yay" to the Dixie Chicks for sweeping 5 for 5 in the Grammy Awards last night. Jackie watched part of it after the Nora Roberts movie (Montana Sky) was over.

And TWO HOURS of Jack tonight on 24!

It is a cool and rainy day in So. Fla. so we may go to the movies this afternoon. Jackie wants to see Pan's Labyrinth.

I'm going back to florida. w00t!

Any MOATies in the Austin, TX area? I will be there from Monday the 26th and flying out on the 28th. I may or may not have some extra time and should know more concretely if I will actually be there by the end of this week.

hey Kibby, have you seen the movie "Escanaba in da Moonlight"? as a one time yooper you'd find it funny.

wolfie...woo hoo!!!!!!

On a totally different note...the two teenagers didn't COMPLETLY drive me crazy on the drive to the movies, and during dinner, and a visit to Borders, and the trip home, but it was close.

Apparently Friday night they were online...and watched a video entitled Charlie the Unicorn.

I finally watched it.

*said in a high pitched voice* "Candy mountain, Charlie! Candy mountain!"

They said it over and over and over and over...

I posted about the Grammys on my blog. No commentary, just a list of winners that are played on my radio station.

*grades fish's road*
*gives it an 'a'*

*zips in*

kibby, would that be a bush trimmer? *snork*
/end feeble attempt at humor

Susan, could you please play Wouldn't It Be Nice?

I'm in mourning for a college boyfriend that died last August and I just found out while googling over the weekend.
Thank you.

"Escanaba in da Moonlight"? no, I haven't. I'll have to look for it.

I did see "Fargo" and my FIRST! reaction was "Yep, they do talk like that up there. Ya, sure."

{{El}}

Bush Trimmers WBAGNFARB, no?

Yes Eleanor, that's what it would be! ;-)

Brian, I'm glad you cleared that up because Fuzzy Pizza WnotBAGNFanything. :)

Brian B, MeL, ASK and MOTW are all in TX, but I'm not certain how close to Austin any of them would be. You could try emailing them to czech.

Higgy, it's good to see you back.. and you front. :)

Wolfie.. when? (and have fun!)

Is WCRE cutting out for everyone else?

BANGI'S ENGAGED!!! YAAAAAYYYY!

*wonders if we'll meet Mr. Bangi*

....announced on the "Bulletin" MB thread!

i say that shoeab is one lucky schmoeab.

Well, Kaf, it was working pretty fine before you mentioned it....

... we're not too sure it's shoeab, are we? Last I heard he was in Canadadda and seeing someone there...

Kibby, I think you meant Canadiana, didn't you?

Does everybody outside Candidiana have a funny name for the country, or is it just me and Kibby?

Canadiana? Canadadda?

Yea! That's the place!

But then there's also the Mississippippii River too. Sly would know more about that.

If the broadcast is breaking up...it is because of alllll the people using internet around here.

I don't really understand how it all works...but with the countless people in here all using internet...it slows things up which causes the breaking up.

If you go to PDBSN.com and listen there, it shouldn't be breaking up. Yes, there is a small download for that one...but better audio quality. Or so I am told.

Congratulations to Bangi!!!

Susan, I could explain ... but I'm afraid someone would take my super secret geekie decoder ring away from me.... then I wouldn't know how to get home because it has the code for the warp space displacer... but then I've said too much already.

Yay for Bangi!!!

I second what Kibby said. Or didn't say. Implied.

Kibby, they called it the Mississississippippippi river because the river is so long. The Ohio River is much shorter. And, obviously the Misourti river is somewhere between. The Cuyahoga river... well, it's just dirty. And on fire.

*roasts weenies over flaming river*

*wonders who's poor weenies are getting roasted*

coworkers at the moment.

one of the boys called me a bitch this morning.

not that he was incorrect mind you, but not wise to do to my face.

*fires up Huey*

*points it towards wolfie's work*

Let me know when you leave the building and I'll let it rip! :)

*eyes widen*
*takes shelter behind igloo*

How could anyone ever say that about our beloved Wolfie!? I say you bite the bastid in the arse so he cant sit for a week.

WTFBBQ? I posted. I swear I did.
Where in the heck did it go?

*begins checking under all grass skirts and penguin thongs*

*pounces on El*

T'was you!

*Smooch*

I've tripled his workload for this week. and then there was the thing with his cellphone.

*falls off chair giggling*

I get even in scary ways.

congrats to bangi!!!!

go wolfie!

and go, kat, go. To werk, that is. :(

See ya.

*looks around*

When did Bangi post that!? Where!?

*sobs* Why cant I see what other people see!?!?!?

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!

(Btw, Congrats Bangi!)

*erases above post*

Nothing to see here folks. Move along, move along...

*sweep*

I'd like to wish a Happy Birthday to Abe Lincoln. Today.

Even though school children probably don't know that, since some idiot decided to put a bunch of President's b-days together on some Monday that isn't any of the b-days, just to get another 3 day weekend.
/end rant

Is anyone else picturing Eleanor dressed in a white halter dress with a breeze blowing it up in the front singing "Happy Birthday Mr. President"?

well, i certainly am now.

Fisher! Stop trying to look up her dress!

*turns fan on high*

*puts on white halter dress and stands over the vent*

there's a disturbing mental image - thanks, Lab!

*turns off fan*
*bleaches eyes*

Now, had you just let it be you in your penguin thong, or a grass skirt, that I could have handled, but a halter dress Lab? And in white? You know white isnt your color!

Ewwwwwwwwwww, Lab! How could you?

{{{Bangi}}}

Is it true? And you didn't share it with us first? For shame, and (if true) much congratulations. I hope you find all the happiness you deserve, which is a whole bunch.

Movie update: Pan's Labyrinth is an extremely imaginative but very dark fantasy. Don't go expecting a sunny film, but do go.

Is it me or is it breazy in here?

Not at all, sly.

Why do you ask?

CONGRATS BANGI!!!! :)

i wasted some time trying to find a web version of the cover of 'scientific american' (it was feb. 1992) that had a photoshopped picture of abraham lincoln arm-in-arm with marilyn monroe...

but instead here are some pictures of kylie
from last weekend . she's in purple.

sorry ,it was february, 1994.

(but that's still the best i can do)

Insom.. your little budding camerawoman is so cute! Of course, I'm not telling you anything you don't know.

Is that Insom Jr in the photo with her at one point?

Meanwhile.. anyone want to try and beat this Valentine's Day gift?

no, that's not him, in fact, i don't know who those guys are... they might be football players, since that is another draw of this 'success by 6' program.

insom, jr. (not his real name) can be seen holding kylie in these picture, about row 4 or 5 from the bottom.

I remember seeing him a while back, but I (to my shame!) had completely forgotten what he looked like. *blush*

That's just silly Kaf. Do you know how many fans and white halter dresses one could buy for 500,000 pounds!?

Gah!

"Get a Different Name" Day.

I'm going with sly's....

Good morning!!

I think.

If one looks at the weather map, there is snow and ice to the west, north and east of St. Louis. So far, we just have rain, BUT, the weathertechs are promising us we will get a lovely bunch of wintry crap in an hour or so.

And gas is $2.09.

I'd better get going to get ahead of the traffic.

And for some reason, I'm not quite feeling like myself this morning.

*feels kibby*

Thanks for the new Kylie pics, insom. I love the way she always seems so single-minded, knows what she wants and goes for it.

And I liked the one with the tripod.

Cold front is approaching us tomorrow, with a second on Friday and a third on Sunday. Of course, "cold front" is relative, but the Floridians will freak as they are predicting low 40s on Friday night.

/end weather

My very First! A ! (cute picso'kylie insom)

*mag nets it to front of the Moat beer fridge*

*turns up some blue grass*

*zips in*

It's raining here in beautiful su.so.ca. and since I have TWO $25 gas cards, I really don't care how much gas costs.

I agree with Kaf on Kylie's not being shy. In the photos she plays with everyone, and you see her everywhere, exploring all the projects. She's a very curious little girl, Insom. Getting cuter every day, too!

Congratulations to Bangi and her fiancé!!! Bangiiii, come back and give us details! Pllllllease?

Wolfie: Next time that coworker bothers you, give them to us MOATies. *cackles* And YAY! for going back to Florida.

"aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" at the Kylie pics.
