MAN
I just realized that tonight, for the third week in a row, I am going to miss 24, which is my favorite TV show except when I am actually watching it. So once again I will be relying on you alert blog readers to provide me with detailed and accurate accounts of the plot. Or you can just make random stuff up, which is basically what the 24 writers do anyway.
All I ask is that by tomorrow morning we will have finally moved past the nuclear-plant-meltdown plot thread, OK? My feeling -- shared, I am sure, by millions -- is: "Just go ahead and melt DOWN already."
I have no idea what this is about.

Convenient, No?
Posted by: igloo | February 21, 2005 at 09:02 AM
Ok, got it now. The power plant melts down, everyone dies except a crazed dwarf named Albrecht. He finds this fabulous ring forged by the Gods, now tempered in the heat of the nuclear furnace, and for reasons known only to him, moves to Germany and takes up residence in the Rhine with a bunch of watery maidens. Stuff happens. Dragons come and go. Everybody goes to Valhalla in the end.

Yeah, Dave. I'm SURE you just realized this. Similar excuse to the one you used so often 50 years ago, "But the dog ate my homework". Lets get with it Dave. You are too talented a writer to stick with that lame(not lamé) exuse.

I guess Balanchine and I are the only non-government workers who frequent this blog.

work?
Posted by: Balanchine | February 21, 2005 at 09:12 AM
Pshew, he said alert blog readers. I'm off the hook.
However, with nuclear holocaust in the balance, I think it's a good time for Jack to get in touch with his feminine side. I say they spend the whole hour with just Jack, struggling to write some poetry, and nearly shooting himself when he can not find anything other than "sugar" to rhyme with "booger".

24 will be divided by evil agent 2 to create a spinoff - 12. Agent 99 will have a bit part.
Posted by: MOTW | February 21, 2005 at 09:21 AM
I heard a promo on the radio this morning. Honest.
While there's supposed to be some big thing revealed, Dave, it sounded like more of the same.

The only thing we know for sure is that Terror Dad and Terror Kid are down in the hotel laundry room, and Jack's going to go down the laundry shoot via one of those Tom Cruise/Mission Impossible wire harness rigs. (That was on the preview from last week).
Some safe bets:
1) Jack will shoot someone
2) No one will turn on the lights at CTU
3) Erin Driscoll (CTU Chief) have a scowl.
4) Edgar will look worried
5) Jack will shoot someone
Ok...some things I *hope* happen
1) Terror Kid takes out Terror Dad with a shovel
2) Terror Mom finally reveals herself to be Carol Channing
3) Sarah Tasers Erin...twice
4) Jack will shoot someone

I STILL WANT TO SEE JACK BAUER MEET/GO UP AGAINST JACK O'NEILL FROM STARGATE.
Posted by: Arcane Jill | February 21, 2005 at 10:24 AM
MacGuyver or Kurt Russell?
Posted by: horned frog | February 21, 2005 at 10:37 AM
Richard Dean Anderson, first, last, and ALWAYS, my horned amphibian friend.
Posted by: Arcane Jill | February 21, 2005 at 10:54 AM
I don't even watch this show but I can join in the discussions at work thanks to this blog.
Posted by: matt neffer | February 21, 2005 at 11:11 AM
I'm starting to get the feeling that Dave doesn't actually (get to) watch the show, either.
Posted by: LabSpecimen | February 21, 2005 at 11:14 AM
MacGuyver, of course!!!! Who is this Kurt Russell of whom you speak???
*ribbit*
Posted by: Eleanor | February 21, 2005 at 11:21 AM
I have never watched the Sci-Fi channel version, only the original movie; I never cared for MacGuyver. Anyone who would use a perfectly good 44 magnum as a wrench to open a fire hydrant to stop bad guys with the water, rather than shooting them dead, or at least just pointing the gun at them and THREATENING to shoot their ass... well that's just bad TV.
Posted by: horned frog | February 21, 2005 at 11:33 AM
Hooey on youey, Horned Frog!
Posted by: Arcane Jill | February 21, 2005 at 11:34 AM
further proof (not that I needed any) that I'll never understand women. I do not get that guy's appeal.
Posted by: horned frog | February 21, 2005 at 11:39 AM
How about Amanda Tapping, then? Does she appeal to you?
Posted by: Arcane Jill | February 21, 2005 at 11:40 AM
My bad, I forgot you don't watch it, Sorry! *paddle paddle paddle*
Posted by: Arcane Jill | February 21, 2005 at 11:41 AM
horned frog - it's clear that you are a guy
there is nothing more to say -
Posted by: Eleanor | February 21, 2005 at 11:41 AM
How about "Thanks for the Link?"
Posted by: Arcane Jill | February 21, 2005 at 11:46 AM
Dang it. This means no American Idol commentary, either. How am I supposed to go on living???
Posted by: Angie | February 21, 2005 at 12:01 PM
Stargate rp and lusting after Richard Dean Anderson?
Posted by: Arcane Jill | February 21, 2005 at 12:03 PM
googled amanda tapping. yes, she does, but not enough to induce watching the show.
I still can't get over this; y'all like MacGuyver better than Kurt Russell?
I think guys like guys they wish they looked like, not necessarily guys women like. Sometimes there is overlap, like in the case of Magnum PI... My own bride is NUTS about Toby Keith. To me, he and MacG are extraordinarily ordinary-looking. 'Splain that to me, please.
I don't know, but the longer I participate in this discussion, the gayer it sounds in my own head. (not that there's anything wrong with that)
I'd just like to understand.
Posted by: horned frog | February 21, 2005 at 12:09 PM
Why don't we just agree that Magnum PI is nice looking and leave it there?
Posted by: Arcane Jill | February 21, 2005 at 12:15 PM
HF: Hate to confirm your worst fears, but that last post of yours was a little, um, well, gayish. Preview, repeat, and then post.
Posted by: PeeJay | February 21, 2005 at 12:15 PM
All I know is that Jack hasn't killed anyone in weeks and he must really be jonesing to get TerrorDad.
And I read somewhere that Tony returns to CTU, which makes Erin Driscoll scowl even more.
Oh and DoDder's ex - remember him wandering around CTU free as a clam? - is apparently in on the plot too! Can the security at CTU get any worse, or what?

Pee, thanks for straightening me out (pun intended). I'm going to go rebuild my carburator till I feel better.
Posted by: horned frog | February 21, 2005 at 12:21 PM
Be sure and use a torque wrench and a power washer just to make sure your system is properly cleansed.
Posted by: PeeJay | February 21, 2005 at 12:50 PM
Prediction for tonight's episode:
1. CTU will do something incredibly lame because of their manpower shortage.
2. Jack will go into harm's way without backup because, hey, he doesn't like backup.
3. Air Force 1 will continue to fly around.
4. Jack will shoot someone. Definitely. You can take that to the bank.
5. Jack will not have to reload.
6. Nobody eats or goes to the bathroom. (Crockagator theory. That's why they're so mean.)
Posted by: ErnieG | February 21, 2005 at 01:28 PM
Predictions for tonites show:
1. My wife will shush me.
2. I will not get any.
3. Jack Bauer will not die in tonites episode.
4. I do not care that I've mispelled "tonight"
twice.
5. Tension will be high.
6. Hunter S. Thompson is still dead.
7. I still won't get any.
8. Tension will be high.
9. Terrorist are bad.

I was going to point out that Patty & Selma deal, but recent events in Alaska have me kinda thinking twice about what I say to women.

Scat and Frog: PPPPPPPPPBBBBBBBBBTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!

I am currently in my parents' bedroom, eating ice cream and watching American Idol. I just saw a commercial for an actual TV show coming to Fox called "Celebrities Without Makeup". That's Fox for you, huh?
Posted by: Sam G. | February 21, 2005 at 04:30 PM
Well, Jack didn't get to kill TerrorDad because TerrorTeen killed him first. And Aisha got killed by her fellow terrorists before her bad acting got too out of hand. Curtis (her ex, who she was blackmailing) got taken away by the terrorists.
Edgar screwed up because he was sad his mom got ThreeMileIslanded but after a pep talk from Driscoll he got it together. He's still fat, however.
Dumb Audrey (DoDder) went alone to her husband's hotel room because his company owns TerrorCentral but Jack burst in before she had to sleep with her ex to stop him from leaving.
That's about the gist of it. Oh, except Sarah demanded her arrest be expunged and she get a two step pay jump for being tortured. Driscoll agreed, and also agreed to reinstate Tony, not that she had a choice. She didn't bring back Potato Face, however.
Posted by: Jeff Meyerson | February 21, 2005 at 06:17 PM
I'll take a tasering for a 2-step pay bump! Hell, you can even leave the arrest on my record.
Posted by: Ken | February 21, 2005 at 06:52 PM
Oh, and the nuclear power plants? Still melting down as of 5:00 p.m.

Celebrities without makeup is NOT something I plan to deal with prior to breakfast. Or after breakfast. Blogged here 4:58 AM, East Coast Time
Posted by: Arcane Jill | February 22, 2005 at 12:59 AM
The urge to arise before 8 a.m. has always baffled me.
Posted by: Balanchine | February 22, 2005 at 05:28 AM
recap -- Jack put on his sunglasses. Then he arrested the murderer who took a fellow agent hostage only to let her go 2 minutes later, and rode off in a motorcycle THEN he successfully found a bone marrow donor for a transplant to an unknown family member, aka "plot advancer"
and some non-main-characters died
or was i watching CSI: Miami ?

Dave, if I may be so bold, why don't you spring for a DVD recorder? Or at least a VCR recorder? If you depend on us for updates, I can refer you to the fan fic site on the fox forum. It's farther from reality than anything you could ever imagine. That's what makes it such fun. Give it a try. If you have a computer, and know how to go online, that is. Written with love, of course.
