Continuing: IMO, it's the perfect non sequitor. Brilliant, or would be if she said it on purpose.

um... are two hours up? I'm on the left coast and at this point in the day, not up to the math (sorry, insom.)

*sigh*

Hang on, I'm wearing sandals so maybe I will be able to do the math since my toes are handy.

Lessee....

*mumblemumble carry the three.... daylight savings time.... spring forward...stay away from the bunion..... divide by 24.......*

I'll be right back after I post this.

Time's up!

What's the answer? I think I have it, with the first name being the same as my ex and part of my name; but I can't believe I have the 4th name correct. I haven't heard anyone called that since Green Acres.

*waits for the answer*

here are the calendar's answers...

'don' from cordon

'helen' from the lending

'len' from the same...

'rea' from area

i didn't get the last but what about...

'inga' from lending area?

I got those, but missed Inga. What about Di? And Thel? (yes, Thel is a real name; Thel used to work with my ex.) But I guess nicknames don't count?

I got Don, Helen, Inga, Eban. I didn't look for nicknames.

Oh, and Kylie looks like a little angel! She's just so dang cute!

Cord
Don
Helen
Inga
Rea
Heba

Well, maybe it's actually "Rhea" but so what?

Nice day today.

insom, loved that beer story. What a maroon!

"OK, lady, 99 bottles of pop, OK?"

thanks for all the answers... i personally think there are more 'inga's out there than 'rea's ... and looking again there were several early spanish kings named 'ordono'...(but it was really ordoño...).

the same contestant on '1 vs.100' knew immediately that matthew broderick's wife was on 's*x and the city'... maybe supermarket checkout lines could contain informational signs next to the magazines, like 'six packs contain six bottles!'
another good response, "i mostly drink from cans, not bottles"...

I thought about "Cord", but nixed it for some reason. I got Don, Helen, Inga and Eb (from "the bank"). I missed Len totally, and nixed "rea" because I thought it should have an "h".

But I'm surprised no one got "Tancredo".

i did, but with a lot of rehab. and a rather special balm, i hope to get rid of it.

Afternoon update: the Harry Potter arrived.

/end update

I know, sly, Cord sounds like a soap opera character, doesn't it?

I missed Len too.

Boy, that Voldemort is pretty evil, isn't he?

*snork* @ insom

Weasel and I are buried under boxes and tape. And I cooked everything we had left in the freezer cause we are selling it today. Wheeee.

Off to cook and shower.

Oooh, Mad.. you're on dinner duty for the Moat!

What are we eating?

Peri's back!

At least for now, she has a Potter update on her blog. But you might want to read the book first before you read it.

And sly has a new post on her blog and Higgy has pictures from Hawaii on his.

/end blog update

Oo, yayyy! Thanks, Jeff. I'm off to blog-hop.

Of course, I forgot to mention KDF and her more frequent updates, especially about the kids.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JUST!

Wherever you are, I hope you're having a great day!

*snork*

Yep, and today we broke out the Slip-n-Slide™, although I haven't downloaded the pictures, so there's no blog post to pimp yet. Fortunately, nobody took any pictures of me. :P

/end sneak preview

Oops! And... HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JUST!!!

Where is everybody? Reading Harry Potter?

I'm about halfway done.

kibby, is the book big news in Prague?

We have a much cooler, rainy day today.

NTTAWWT

/end weather

read the Harry Potter on Sunday.

double u tee eff! seriously?!

*sigh* it was good though

not reading the potter...(song by blue oyster cult "don't read the potter") though this would have been the perfect weekend to do it, the mrs. is visitng her parents, i literally have not spoken to another human being for 48 hours. (didn't read the previous book either). so i'm going into my temporary orifice (wbagnfarb) to maybe clean it up because i have to move out of it by next week when i'm out of town visiting my parents in the land of dial-up.
so, will people be reading harry potter 20 years from now, even after they've all been made into movies and tibetan monks living in cages suspended from glaciers in the himalayas know 'the ending'?
i'm not concerned about j.k.rowling's finances, i think in enduring children's books 'the ending' isn't so important (e.g. alice in wonderland "it was all a dream") , just that if all the little hogwartians were killed or turned into duck-billed platypi, you know for the near future big kids would be spoiling it for little kids just starting the series.

or maybe not, what do i know?

Hey, even adults (so called) have the need to spoil the ending for others. I guess they got tired pulling the wings off of flies.

Despite the forecast of "half an inch to an inch of rain" in "on and off showers" today, it's been POURING down in buckets for a couple of hours and I'm sure we've had an inch or two already, at least at this end of town.

Jackie is working several days again this week, so I'm nice and wet from driving there and back.

*quack*

*zips in*™

insom, anything you say is worth saying twice. :)

And I know the ending and I'm not even going to read the book - yay me!

I haven't read the book yet. I know I will eventually, but I'm in no hurry.

I spent a sinti syntil thrilling weekend cleaning. Oh the fun. And have had my picture taken. Several times. Yesterday was a dinner meeting for all the football broadcast teams, and the studio folks and everything. I didn't realize we were that close to football time. The first jamboree is August 10, with the first regular game August 17. Nooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!

Then this morning, I wasn't going to come in to work first thing, there was going to be another meeting at a local restaurant, so I was going to go there. So I'm ready to walk out of the house, very casually dressed, to go to the restaurant...the phone rings. "Susan, come by the station first, Diane wants to take pictures for the paper." Gaahhhhhhhh!!! Quick change, and slap on some makeup.

Just another typical day...

Oh! Just!!! I hope you had a very very happy birthday!

Susan, you are welcome to all the rain you want from us.

Happy Belated Birthday Just!

Kaf- to answer your question about dinner. I had a large amount of chicken in the freezer. part went into a crock pot with some fresh basil, garlic and tomato-Cook all day and serve over whole wheat pasta. The remaining chicken went into a second crock pot with green beans and some other veggies. Curry powder and spices. Cook all day then add rice for the last 30 minutes.

We got a lot of packing done, but still have a lot to do. I can't wait for a little relaxation next weekend. I plan on putting the Jacuzzi tub to good use as Weasel and I celebrate 1 year of wedded bliss!

*blink*

*blink*

Alice in Wonderland was all a dream?!?!?

Thanks for telling me, insom!!

I thought that was Dallas and Wizard of Oz

The bookmakers have the odds at 10-1 of a HP8. I think they might be right. I don't see JK just sitting back and coasting for the rest of her life with things as they are. Someone will convince her to bring it back, and it will disappoint everyone because it's over. Thank goodness.

A news story I saw this morning mentioned that most of the profits her publishing company has had within the last x number of years has been from her books. The reporter asked, "Now what are they going to do." She's made enough to retire, the the publishers are going to have to go find more writers.

kibby's in a Chicago hotel trying to stay awake long enough to get some dinner and "sleep in" tomorrow. Seems there's a 7 hour difference in watches to Prague and Chicago.

kibby doesn't know if HP is big in Prague. Why? Was part of it set there?

Kibby's in the States!!! Woooo hooooo!!!

kibby!

No, I was just curious.

Kaf, I don't see an HP8. I think that's why she added the epilogue.

The last 250 pages really flew by, by the way. A LOT of losses along the way, but all in all a very satisfactory end to the series.

Anyone with the talent to plan out and successfully execute a series like that and keep the interest of the readers for 10 years has earned everything she's made, in my opinion.

But I do agree with Jackie: this is NOT a book for kids.

Weather update: it rained all day until around dinnertime and there was over 2" on rain in the official rain gauge (in Central Park). We're by the coast and I know we had more.

/end weather

So how's the Chicago traffic, kibby?

What's it to ya?

OINY:

Urban gentleman: Yeah, you can buy the naked cowboy's picture in Times Square for, like, 25 dollars.
Urban lady: For real? Damn. He hot, though. He definitely waxing. In those briefs, nigga's gotta be gettin' a Brazilian.
Urban gentleman: Yeah, I ain't no homo or nothin', but how's he not get hard walkin' around in nothin' but briefs?
Urban lady: It's called 'entertainment.'

Anybody else notice that "pathway" seems to be Atticus's Word of the Week?

NTTAWWT

Thanks for the Queen song, Susan.

No problem, Jeff...you're lucky I remembered it though...

Yes, Atticus does like the word pathways...I've noticed that.

Thursday may well be a wild day around here...there is, apparently, a baseball game we'll be broadcasting in the evening...just a pre-pre-trial run of the broadcast setup.

And.

I just found out today...the carpenter is coming to redo the other front office (where my desk was originally).

Guess what day he's scheduled to start?

Yep.

The day Arthur never could get the hang of.

Fortunately kibby's staying in the same hotel as the training being held so he doesn't need to deal with the traffic.

Unfortunately kibby's sufferring from jet lag so hasn't gotten out to see any of the city yet. Hoping for tomorrow.

kibby DID enjoy his 1" t-bone steak last night!

*looks to gain weight eating American foods*

kibby: you can take the subway to Uncle Julio's - we did when we were in Chicago - for great hot homemade chips & salsa and fabulous steak fajitas. I think Thursday is "goat" day if you'd prefer that.

*makes note to check out Uncle Julio's*

Yep, jet lag's gotten me up this early. Actually a couple hours ago but I'd tried fighting awakeness and getting some more shut eye. Suppose I'll try to stay on Prague time as much as possible considering my short stay.

Chicago weather: *looks out window*
Slightly overcast - should be in the high 70s to low 80s.
Chance of rain - slight

Local traffic *looks out window again*
NONE!

*looks at Jeff's post's time stamp, looks at own post's time stamp, looks at hotel room's clock*

Oh, yea, I'm on the other side of Jeff ..... straaaaannnnggggee

*looks at watch*

*watches kibby look at watch*

Let's see, Chicago is Central, so that would be...7 hours earlier than Prague time?

No wondering you're (not your) lagging, kibby!

Weather yesterday.. in the middle of a freezing winter, it was 64 degrees with a nor'west wind. Today is predicted to get to about 60.. then slowly cooling over the next two or three days.

Petrol $1.53 per litre. With the spectacularly rising NZ dollar at the moment (currently 80c on the dollar), that puts petrol at about $4.90 USD a gallon.

Last night's dinner was fabulous. I went to a work function at Winnie Bagoes. Most excellent food, plenty of fun company and, thanks to generous bosses, all the pizza and the first glass of wine was FREE! The entire evening cost me $3 (for my second drink). My favourites were the Mexi Lime and Kiwi Craving pizzas. Absolutely wonderful!!

Is anyone else having trouble getting this page to load? The whole of Dave's blog is working slowly for me, so I'm not sure

Kaf! Had a problem yesterday - the blog was down for hours - but not today. At least I haven't noticed a problem.

That restaurant looks good and the food sounds good too. But as I've said before I don't usually like fruit with my meat - as in mango on pizza.

Still, I'm sure I could find something I like.

;)

Of course, when I saw the time I thought you'd be eating in one of these.

Of course, when I saw the name I thought you'd be eating in one of these.

Oops; didn't catch the typo in time.

The weather forecast is for hotter and more humid weather tomorrow, but as long as it stays dry we are looking forward to the free outdoor concert:

Hippiefest

The Turtles featuring Flo & Eddie
Felix Cavaliere's Rascals
The Zombies featuring Colin Blunstone & Rod Argent
Denny Laine, former lead singer of The Moody Blues
Melanie
Country Joe McDonald

The page is starting to load a little slowly for me, too...tends to slow my computer down a little bit.

Besides, after three + months here, I think we need to get a maid in, or move...dust is accumulating in the corners.

*runs outside, looks north, and jumps up and down waving and blowing kisses* Hiya, Kibby! Nice to have you in the neighborhood! Relatively speaking, that is.

*waves from the hotel window to neo*

Could we consider a lateral move here?

Just a thought... and I really should be in bed.

G'night all!!

Good night, Kaffy! Welcome, Siouxie! A sale for you!
