COOPERATION, UNITY AND TOLERANCE

Responsible parents simply will not allow it.

Wowser!

I really love this blog ... this is the most intelligent conversation on a very volatile topic I've heard in almost 20 years ... such intelligence, such reason, such common sense ... such restrained, yet refined disagreement ... yet acceptance ...

What a bunch ... thanks for letting me watch, and listen, and learn ... about people, about life, about myself ...

Unfortunately, I have nothing special or earth-shaking to offer ... I am still thinking about much of this ...

I do have a few thoughts, offered perhaps, in an effort to lighten the mood just a bit ...

Did anyone notice (as I did) the headline in the Science News section of the CNN page?
Flammable Titan covered in liquid gas

Well? Which is it?

Say, if I tell my doctor that I buy into this homo promo crapola, do you think he'd up my meds?

[NOTE: The above query does not refer to the question its ownself, as to right/wrong or good/bad r.e. same-gentalia relationships ... Only to the inappropriateness of the behavior of these people who claim to follow a loving God -- A GOD WHOSE ENTIRE PREMISE OF LOVING FORGIVENESS IS DEFINED BY THE SACRIFICE OF HIS SON -- yet they are not capable of having that same compassion or forgiveness that they claim to believe God has for them -- or us ...]

And besides which already, does genitalia necessarily define gender? I can't cite specific examples, but seem to recall many stories of "I'm a man/woman trapped inside a woman's/man's body ..." type of tales.

The God Hates Fags site is really scary ... I still have this little chill as I look over my shoulder, to see if they're watching ...

Finally, a true anecdote: While attending a writer's workshop 'way back when ... many tales of our experiences were shared.
(This was 1975 ... keep the mood/temper of that time in mind, if you can recall it or imagine it ... remember, this was in the mostly rural, conservative and fundamentally Christian Northern Plains, and not some hotbed of urbane urbanness.)
One gal told of her experience, with her given name, and society.
Her name was Gay.
As I recall, she was from the Twin Cities, or that area.
She told us that many times, she would meet a new person or group at some function or another.
She'd introduce herself, "Hello, I'm Gay."
The almost universal response?
"That's nice, dear. And what's your name?"

bye,

I know, TMI (but I'm still thinking ...)

Meanwhile, MTV rages on, corrupting more youth than these people can save...

A man named Dr. James Dobson, founder of a conservative Christian group called "Focus on the Family" addressed members of Congress at a black tie dinner in Washington celebrating the president's election victory this week. He advised the group that SpongeBob had been included in a pro-homosexual video which was to be mailed to thousands of elementary schools to push a tolerance pledge by kids, including tolerance of differences of what Dr. Dobson called "sexual identity." Dr. Dobson said most of the favorite cartoons of America's kids were in on the plot, Barney and Jimmy Neutron included.

There is a video. It was broadcast in 2002 and has been revised for distribution to schools in March. It does promote tolerance of diversity, but contains no reference to sex, sexual lifestyle, sexual identity or Paris Hilton.

The eight-page long teacher's guide that accompanies that DVD makes three passing references to same-sex parents. It contains generic advice about what teachers should do if kids ask them about atypical homes— like ones with adoptive parents, step-siblings, or grandparents. Teachers are advised to remind kids that everybody's family is different, but they're all based on love.

Sounds like a sinister plot to me.

Let he/she who is without sin dress in the cellar -

*slaps self for mixed metaphor in above post*

please delete from memory -

Turns out 40% had privately chosen porn over prayer. Hmmm.

second try:
People who live in glass houses should dress in the cellar.

That is all.
Thank you.
Carry on

I'm surprised that nobody went after the Church of SpongeBob first. If that isn't blasphemy, I don't know what is.

Idiots.

... to paraphrase ...

"... their intolerance, while in the process of being 'tolerant' ..."

Pretty oxymoronish, IMHO ... the action/behavior, not the comment ...

Alex D.'s article says "More than 700 members of the Church of SpongeBob meet for services in New York, Texas and California."

Now I don't qnt to question the veracity of the BBC but I've been living in New York for over 50 years and if there is such a Church or such meetings, this is the first I've heard of it.
(*makes note to check out Church of SpongeBob website for next meeting*)

Uncle O: loved "That's nice dear. And what's your (not you're) name?"

Well, I check it out and found this on the Museum of Hoaxes site:

Church of SpongeBob Squarepants
Are you bored with mainstream religion and ready, eddy, eddy for something different? Then why not consider converting to the Church of SpongeBob Squarepants? In fact, you probably don't even have to give up your existing faith. Spongebob is quite ecumenical, in this regard. To convert all you have to do is "drop on the deck and flop like a fish."

While we're on the subject of cartoons brainwashing our kids... *taps fingers on table* ...

Years ago I read that at some point in the 1950s, Donald Duck was banned in Sweden. Reasons: He had an uncontrollable temper, which set a bad example for his two nephews; he showed no intention of marrying Daisy despite seeing her constantly; and, by far the worst, py yumpin yiminy, he didn't wear any pants.
No word so far on the Swedes' reaction to the rock & roll salute. They might be too busy controlling duck porn to notice.

Yesterday, the issue of Spongebob's potential gayness was discussed on one of the morning radio shows. A few mintues later, my 3 year old turned to me and reiterated to me: "Mom, Spongebob is butch."

Good to know, kid, good to know.
