First?
Posted by: Cat Woman | June 22, 2004 at 09:46 AM
Dave, what you meant to say was "CRAP" it's taken, right?
Posted by: Jeff Meyerson | June 22, 2004 at 09:47 AM
(See, that's why I never call FIRST and look like a dork when I'm second or fifth.)
First? is not a comment, by the way.

I'll be those kids didn't take much abuse in junior high, uh-huh.

But "fourth?" is, right Jeff?
Posted by: Rachel | June 22, 2004 at 09:49 AM
My mom went to highschool with a girl named Candie Korn.

Is there actually anything TO that website besides the pretty front page? (Resists joke about it then being a crappy webpage, as that is way too childish a joke for this blog.)
Posted by: leigh7911 | June 22, 2004 at 09:53 AM
Not too childish for me, though. That is one crappy website.

just a little bit of plumbing trivia for those of you who may be interested, and for those of you who may NOT be interested, but have read this far already:
the toilet was named after a man named Thomas Crapper.

We have a local politician named Branstool, which is equivalent to fibercrap.

I've seen all kinds of weird things. When I was a kid, I knew an Otto Harp. I had a college professor who was named Daniel Daniel.
I had a friend, whose last name is Bate, who got letters from his grandmother when he was a child with the title "Master". (You know, one of those old fashioned titles.)
And, while not dirty, it sounds dirty-I have relatives with the name Dibble.

And let us not forget the inimitable Boutros Boutros-Ghali.

went to school with a girl named candy kanes. we think her parents named her that on purpose. she hated it. also know a woman named holly who was born on christmas, and another named merry, also born on christmas.....

Maybe she does (Candie Korn, that is). You've got to wonder what parents are thinking some times, you know? Now granted the woman probably went through 20 hours of agony, but when dad said, "I know, honey, let's name her Candace, then she'll be Candie Korn, get it?" why didn't she rip his arm off and feed it to him? Just wondering.
Leigh: there's a mystery series starring an Indian woman named Anna Turnipseed. Otherwise I'd have thought you were kidding us.
Angie: I went to summer camp With a couple of kids whose last name was Bader. The head counselor always called the younger Master Bader.
My wife taught many oddly (to her) named kids. In the same class she had girls named Shawanna, Mashanna and Shakwanna, plus several other Afro-centric names.
I was in college with a kid named Robert Kennedy. After his namesake was killed he often got grief from a professor who'd have people sign an attendance sheet. He didn't bat an eye at Dick Hertz but "Robert Kennedy" drew an "oh, that's not nice." The poor kid had to keep telling him "but that's my name!"

i heard of some semi-famous 19th century woman named Iona Hankie. [Yeah? so what...]

Notice how the Crapo Family emblem is a well-fertilized looking tree?
Posted by: Lmd33 | June 22, 2004 at 01:56 PM
maybe it's not their original name? maybe they were originally Lipshitz. Crapo could be an improvement....
Posted by: queensbee | June 22, 2004 at 02:30 PM
CRAY-po... it's pronounced CRAY-po.
There was a kid in my english class who would ALWAYS say cray-po... when we had a sub... well, there was a different pronounciation...

Introducing the (Von) Crapo Family Singers!! Eat your hearts out, VonTrapp Family.
My brother and sister-in-law know someone named Harry Dick where they live. I would have to change my name.

LOL - the von crapo singers. HHAAAA! the hills are alive, with the sound of Crapo ....
Posted by: queensbee | June 23, 2004 at 03:09 AM
I have nothing pertinent to contribute, but since the subject has turned to The Sound of Music I thought it was necessary to make my presence known.
That is all.

My sister went to school with someone named -- for real -- Crystal Shanda Lier.

I have to chime in here because to this day I cannot believe I know a guy named Jack Knoff (the K is silent) and Mary Christmas.
I wish I was kidding.
