Wow, South Beach may suffer from culture shock more than anything with the presence of a bona fide A-lister for a change. That's right, George Clooney is in town filming his latest flick Up in the Air and is staying at Delano where he hung out poolside for sunset cocktails. According to witnesses, he signed autographs and even took pix with fans and had no issues with the pesky paparazzi snapping at him (surely that will change if he stays here long enough). We remember when Clooney was down here ages ago, when the hot spot du jour was Bar None and when he requested a basketball hoop at his hotel. Not much has changed since then--he's still a, uh, bachelor, and he still has sporty requests, this time insisting on serious workout equipment in his hotel room. Besides that he's just a regular Joe who happens to reside comfortably on the A-list.

Here's something to look forward to next month, a motley---yet refreshing in terms of the usual South Beach sightings of reality dreck---mix of TV stars who have formed a band and will play for a good cause as opposed to their own causes, for a change. The cheekily titled Band From TV was created to provide funding and resources to several charities worldwide. All proceeds from the Shore Club gig will go to The Epilepsy Foundation, Miami Children's Hospital, Art of Elysium, The Conservation Fund, Indian University-Kenya Partnership, Rush Medical Center-Pediatric Epilepsy Unit and the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

Debuting her 16 minute short film Streak at Regal South Beach tonight: Demi Moore, who went behind the camera to direct her 20-year-old daughter Rumer Willis, who stars in the flick. Said Moore of directing her often tabloid trashed daughter, “The great thing is I’m seeing her mature and operate as a complete professional. And it’s giving us, I think, another opportunity to connect in a totally different way."

We know we're in the minority, being country fans in a city devoted to dance, techno and hip hop, but for those three of you out there, get excited because Kenny Chesney will be filming a new music video at The Raleigh tonight where, according to our insider, he will take over the pool/Oasis area. It should be a crazy ho-down, whether you dig country music or not. Chesney is also filming along Collins Avenue where, who knows, maybe he will pick up some, uh, talent, straight off the streets and put 'em in the video.

The Forge is hosting a dinner next Wednesday honoring Mickey Rourke for his recent acting accolades. It's been a while since we've seen him, and we hope he braces himself for the mobs of his new best friends--you know, those people who wouldn't give him the time of day when he was down in the dumps--the ones who wrote how happy they were for his recent successes on their Facebook status updates. We're sure Rourke's longtime pal Shareef Malnik will weed those opportunists out of the crowd.
Spotted at last night's grand opening of the fabulous new Viceroy Hotel on Brickell: Mad Men star Jon Hamm and girlfriend and recent Grey's Anatomy actress Jennifer Westfeldt, sitting together at a table acting like a totally normal couple; Selma Blair and boyfriend doing the same; Gloria and Emilio working the room; and, the oddest one of all, Sharon Stone, who looked uber glam as she was fawned all over by assorted party people. In addition to the main party, there was a private surprise birthday bash for Emilio Estefan in the restaurant's private room. Despite the heavy star wattage, we were most impressed with the hotel itself, especially Club 50, the stunning lounge on the fiftieth floor, where astrological stars shine brighter than Hollywood ones.

Although he told Miami Herald TV critic Glenn Garvin he doesn't' go out on weekends to avoid paparazzi, Matt Damon hung out at White Room's Pop Life Saturday night for nearly three hours. He was with a group of 10 people and they occupied an outside corner for the duration. He may have been there to hear guest DJ JD Sampson of Le Tigre, or he just wanted to get the heck out of his North Bay Road compound for a change. To his credit, no paparazzi got his picture because, well, paps aren't known to hang out at the White Room. Until now.

Everyone wonders why Matt Damon never goes out on weekends when he's living in Miami Beach. Now, our esteemed colleague, TV critic Glenn Garvin, uncovers the real reason, and it's actually hilarious, not to mention a dig at our city's somewhat amateurish or ambitious, depending on how you look at it, paparazzi.
