Animayer, Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson.

Spotted carousing at Casa Tua last night: Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn. This just in: Wilson and Vaughn participated in a backgammon tournament at the restaurant! After several hours of intense playing, Wilson won. And to think we all thought it was something more illicit. Oddly enough Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer were there the night before. Wilson and Vaughn were at the polo tournament earlier today and then, like Wilson and Kate Hudson have done, took off on bikes, being trailed by photogs.

As for the Miami connection (or lack thereof) between exes Vaughn, who never comes to Miami--the last time we saw him was at the place formerly known as Pearl at least five years ago, before the bloat started to set in--- and Aniston, all we can do is speculate. Maybe Mayer's in town for friend and former tour-mate Sheryl Crow's SunFest show in Palm Beach Wednesday night. Since Crow and Aniston are BFF, perhaps this is the result of a little friendly matchmaking. Or, more sinisterly, maybe Aniston asked Crow to fix her up with Mayer once she found out through costar Wilson that Vaughn was coming down to play. Could Jen just be trying to make Vince jealous or is this all just coincidental timing? Or maybe Vaughn heard Aniston was hooking up with Mayer and hopped on the next plane down. Or not. Who knows.

Whatever the case, he should be jealous, because Animayer was spotted enjoying a lovely dinner a deux at the Mandarin Oriental's Cafe Sambal tonight (Sunday). We'd say it was romantic, but what dinner could be less romantic than one with a menacing bodyguard (hi, Scott!) hovering over your table? One of our spies, who was sitting right next to them, told us the couple was acting very romantic and holding hands. Unfortunately that's all they saw because, once again, Animayer's security detail kicked 'em to the curb. And this just in: While Animayer were playing footsy at the Mandarin, Vaughn and Wilson had dinner at Prime 112, where, according to our spy, they were feasting on deelish steak and drinking wine. They were joined by two other unidentified guys.

Hello, but since when is a hotel considered private property when you're a paying customer, and even more importantly, where were we when the press release went out saying Aniston--or her security team, rather--became mayor of Miami and started making the rules? Animayer indeed! Best of all, her security has been taking pictures of us, for a change, turning the tables a bit. As Secret Agent ManScott told this blogger yesterday, "We're stalking you." That's fine and all, but can't we all just get along?  And at least let us reapply our lipstick before you snap the pic, Team Aniston, mmmkay?

Secret Agent Man Scott also told us that "She can't come out of her room because of you guys." Of course she can, and we'll even buy her and her boy toy a drink or ten! But we digress. For those who want to see the crappy pix taken of Animayer at Casa Tua Friday night, here they are. Make of them what you will. But with all the secret-service like security on the couple, it's  obvious they don't want to be seen by anyone, which is a shame, really, because they make a lovely couple.

Leslie-I'll have to say VV popping in to Miami is strange. As you yourself said he NEVER comes there. Why did you remove that sentence from your blog now? Also keep in mind Vince didn't arrive in town until Saturday..So what if Owen dropped a bug in VV's ear about John-maybe he's the one that decided to pop in and see what was going on. This should be interesting on the set Monday-we'll maybe see a different type "chemistry" for Owen and Jennifer...

I don’t know, Leslie. I doubt Mayer came down 6 days early just to hang out and wait for Crow and was on call for a conspiracy. Sheryl is way up state, no where near Miami. In Pensacola yesterday, Jacksonville today, Clearwater Tuesday and not in West Palm until Wednesday. My gut feeling is that Jen and John have “known” each other for more than a weekend.

I don't see anything strange about Vince coming into town at all. He's friends with Owen, who has been in town filming for a couple months, and they hosted a party together, according to People. No details from that party, Lesley? Also, Vince and Jen have remained friends and have been seen together before so I don't think there is any plotting going on at all.

Ok, now im getting the feeling that Jennifer is using John Mayer to make Vince Vaughn jealous, since Vince is in town in Miami. It looks to me that Vince came to Miami but hangs out with Owen W instead of her. I bet she and Sheryl timed to set up John Mayer just in time when Vince is also in Miami. We've seen lots of pics of Jennifer looking lonely and bored with just her girlfriends, hanging out in the beach. First of all Vince Vaughan coming into town is not a big deal. He and Owen are friends and he probably came down to check on his buddy. No conspiracy there. As far as Aniston and Mayer that is a bit of a random combo. My guess is that he is doing music for the film and since he knows Sheryl Crow and she and Jen are bff that they are spending time together. Mystery solved. As far as the bodyguards...they are out of control. Photographers are only trying to take a picture...relax.

As for Owen, yes, he was with Richie Sambora in a rehab reunion Friday night at the Florida Room, also with Dylan McDermott....I didn't hear that they were boozing it up that much, just hanging out.

As for the party on Saturday with Vince and Owen, again, not too much detail..the restaurant is uber private and the waiters are so scared they'll be fired and won't talk but let's not get so excited. I think they just had some drinks and dinner. Casa Tua isn't necessarily a party place, per se. But so odd that Animayer were on a date there the night before and Owen drags Vince there the next night, huh?!

I was at the Mandarin on Saturday and there was NO WAY to get any pix. The bodyguards, as I said, are ruthless!!

This is GREAT Monday-morning stuff! I agree with Stuie - Vince was most likely just in town to hang out with (and probably to check on) Owen. I don't think Vince cares about John Mayer being with Jen and I REALLY don't think Jen is trying to make Vince jealous. I think Jen and John are very cute together (and the pics are not that awful - I've seen worse.) I'm more concerned about Owen, though. People magazine said he looked "a little disheveled and withdrawn ..." on Friday night. It's great that he's having his friends and family visiting him almost every weekend (he seems to still need the distractions) but Charlotte is right - Vince Vaughn and Richie Sambora?!? If Owen IS drinking when friends are around to watch out for him, I believe that it then could become way too easy to fall into that habit when he's feeling low and friends are NOT around. And that seems dangerous. Bring Woody and Kate (and adorable Ryder) back to Miami - they seem to be better influences on Owen. And Lesley - weren't his parents in Miami with him last week? I thought I saw pics of Owen, his parents and Jen onset on another blog?

Yes, Owen's parents were here last week when it was Kate's bday. And I know for a fact that Woody came down to check on Owen because Owen was (and I've seen it myself) a mess again..too much boozing and god knows what else..so you're right..I think Vince came down to watch Owen. As for the Richie Sambora night, yeah, not too much craziness..they all sort of just sat there and I don't think they drank!

I just can't see her dating a freak like him. Have you ever read his blog posts? Strrraaange. He'd be a humongous step down from Brad Pitt and I just don't think she'd do that. It's true that Owen does seem to be better with his friends around.
At the very least, they seem to get him up and moving the next day (watching tennis, riding bikes, etc.)
I'd still rather see him having innocent fun-in-the-sun with Kate and Ryder than staying out (and maybe getting smashed) with Vince until 5:30 a.m.!
