Aptop25THE RARITY OF CANES FOOTBALL/BASKETBALL DUAL POLL POWER: It has happened only three times -- UM football finishing a season ranked in the Associated Press final Top 25 as Canes men's hoops was ongoing with a season that also ended in the Top 25. And all three instances were within a four-year period. It happened in 1998-99 (football No. 20, basketball No. 10); in 1999-00 (FB15, B23); and in 2001-02 (FB1, B21). It could happen a fourth time this season, but Jim Larranaga's guys will have to work to hold up their end. After football finished with a No. 13 ranking, the basketball team this week was ranked No. 25. But that was before Monday night's home loss to Duke.
