HEAT-SPURS THE REMATCH: WHAT TEAM DID YOU HOPE MIAMI MET IN NBA FINALS?: It'll be Heat-Spurs in an NBA Finals rematch after last night's San Antonio win. Is that best for the Heat? It was a simple either/or choice offering no easy path to a three-peat for Miami, and a clear contrast in options. Conventional thinking is that San Antonio (a rematch of the 2013 Finals) offers the tougher opponent for the Heat because of the matchup problems it will present. Oklahoma City (which would have been a rematch of the '12 Finals) offered perhaps a more favorable matchup overall but also presented the challenge of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, arguably the only duo in the league that can match or even surpass the LeBron James/Dwyane Wade tandem offensively. The poll question is open to your interpretation. Vote based on which would be the easier opponent for Miami, or vote based on which Finals you'd find more entertaining. Vote either way, and say why.

G6: HEAT 117, INDIANA 92: LEBRON, BOSH COMBINE FOR 50 AS MIAMI REACHES 4TH STRAIGHT NBA FINALS: LeBron James and Chris Bosh with 25 points apiece last night in a complete beatdown that eliminated Indiana for the third straight year and lifts Miami to the NBA Finals for the fourth straight season. More antics of course from punky Lance Stephenson -- including a hand on LeBron's face and an open palm raked across Norris Cole's face -- but the result shut him up. Said Pacers coach Frank Vogel afterward: "We're competing against the Michael Jordan of our era, the Chicago Bulls of our era." Click here for my game column. ..... Original post: It has been a nutty buildup to this game. Paul George just scored 37 points including a ridiculous 21 in the fourth.
1aa1aleblanceLeBron James just scored 7 thanks to extreme foul trouble
1aa1aheatindg6and 2-for-10 shooting, and passed up the last shot. But instead we were all talking about the fool Lance Stephenson, of the ear-blowing, huddle-invading and body-1aa1aecfflopping. Lance is an idiot. Miami's job is to make sure he isn't the idiot whose distracting antics contribute to the Heat blowing this series. (Stephenson and James are pictured in a staredown, which at least is more manly than Lance blowing gently into LeBron's ear). Miami's lead is only 3-2 now entering tonight's Game 6 here, and the Heat must ride two notable streaks to victory. First, the Heat has won 10 straight home playoff games overall. Second, Miami in the Big 3 era is 9-0 at home in potential series-clinching games. Unless those perfect streaks continue, the Heat would face a Game 7 in Indiana putting the hope of a three-peat championship in peril. That's why Chris Bosh rightly referred to tonight as "our Game 7."

Heat Postseason MVP Standings (updated): We name 'Heat 3 Stars' after every playoff game and award points on 3-2-1 basis. Last night: 1. LeBron James, 2. Chris Bosh, 3. Chris Andersen. The standings 15 playoff games, including Friday's series-clincher: LeBron James 34 points, Dwyane Wade 23, Chris Bosh 15, Ray Allen 8, Chris Andersen 3, Rashard Lewis 3, Norris Cole 2, James Jones 2.

MAKE STANTON AN ALL-STAR!: Here is an unapologetic hometown plug for the local guy. Marlins star
Giancarlo Stanton is running fourth among NL outfielders in all-star voting in the first results released, and 1aa1agstantonhe unequivocally deserves to be one of the three starters. He is having an MVP-caliber season for a surprise team. My particular quibble is that one of the players Stanton trails is Milwaukee's Ryan "Steroids" Braun. I present their comparative statistics as of today: Braun--.315, 7 homers, 23 RBI, .910 OPS. Stanton--.318, 15 homers, 49 RBI, 1.034 OPS. Only the averages are close. Otherwise across the board Stanton is more deserving -- and that's not even getting into Braun's cheating past. Vote Stanton! Got to the MLB ballot HERE, and make justice happen.

MORE MEDIOCRITY AHEAD FOR DOLPHINS?: Bovada is out with its preseason betting over/unders on NFL win totals, and for the Dolphins it's 8. That's 8-8, .500, the essence of mediocrity, and likely no playoffs. Looking for the glass half full? That's at least second in the AFC East, after the Patriots' 10.5 but ahead of the Jets' 7 and Bills' 6.5.

1aa1ascoutwillisSCOUT WILLIS MAKES A POINT, OR TWO: Scout Willis, 22-year-old daughter of actors BruceWillis and Demi Moore, was photographed this week walking topless in Manhattan, to protest, she said, Instagram's policy of prohibiting topless photos of females. She posted the photos at right (but without the red stars) on Twitter with the hashtag #FreeTheNipple. It does strike us as weird that it is not illegal to walk topless in New York City but it is on Instagram. We offer the photos here in support of Scout's righteous crusade. That, and because we enjoy occasional gratuitous naughtiness just for the hell of it.

So because a person used steroids they cannot be considered an All Star ever again? It's a popularity contest always has been. No one watches the game anymore anyway stop being such a homer.

An 8-8 over under doesn't imply no playoffs at all. 9-7 gets it done lately in the AFC it's a forecast line they are trying to get money on both sides. It implies nothing about playoff possibilities.

Man,that Spurs home court is like kryptonite to OKC...it's not just that they lose but how they lose...OKC are pretenders...there is no way they win a game 7 on that court(if they even get that far)...

Nelson Cruz has 20 homeruns but he is a former cheater so he's bad and doesn't deserve to be an All Star. High and mighty liberal Greg Cote's logic in a nutshell. I thought liberals usually protected those types? Does David Ortiz deserve to be an All star? I mean you're a Red Sox fan Greg and he cheated once. Don't use the steroid issue to support your little homer rant it shouldn't be part of the argument.

Not a gambler but from a betting perspective that NE line is very interesting. At 10.5 it is maybe a half a point lower than it could be for a team that has been to 2 straight AFC title games. This is considering also that they added a great deal of talent on defense. Tells me Vegas thinks Brady may be getting old.

Big (Cry) Baby, is he a liberal or not? You sound as if you are thinking like Lance Stephenson. Besides, can we leave politics out of a sports blog?

No we cannot leave politics out of this blog it's author will not allow it to be so.

As much as it pains me to say this.....

If Vick & Johnson stay healthy the Jets will have a better record than the Fins & will contend for the AFC east..

Have you watched Vick the last few seasons? Not likely. My money says G. Smith starts the year.

Orange Bowl 4ever, no, no learn to enjoy losing...

Hey OB4 how did that Chip Kelly offense do last year?
Pretty good I would say just like I said.

A Masshole is always right about these things you'll never learn.

Here's a fun blast from the past at breakneck speed...

duke I was just up to Lake George been going for over 20 years. I know it's not your region exactly but it's great up there.

Ah Lake George. The Northeast really has it all eh Big Baby. I know Californians would argue this point but one may have to actually be from northeast to really GET IT...

There hasn't been a better guitarist born on planet earth since Hendrix. Great singer also. The entire package.

Big Baby= Big Moron

I'm nothing without my fans.

The Dolphins will win 9 or 10 games this year. Why? Mostly because they no longer have an idiot calling the personnel shots. Hickey is fixing Miami's biggest deficiency (OL) and for that reason alone I see at least one or two more wins this year.

Let me clear one thing up for our resident buffoon. The 2013 draft was a bad draft for Miami not because none of the players are starting. It was a bad draft because Ireland drafted into a strength (DE) rather than addressing the team's biggest need (OT). What make the pick of Jordan even worse is there was a good OT on the board that would have been a perfect fit for Miami.

Now I'll sit back and wait for our resident version of Lance Stephenson to make a complete a$$ of himself once again.

well we're waiting...

That chick is cursed with a butter face.

Tom there is still some uncertainty on that oline although it has improved a lot on paper. I would keep Bryant McKinnie's number on speed dial.

on the Dolphin odds..I think we'll be mediocre at best as long as clueless Joe and the back stabbing bitch are around..My boy Hickey gets a pass on this one.

Scout Willis has very nice tatas..nice going there Cote.

BB..right you are amigo, there has been many, many great guitar players the last 50 yrs, Clapton, Carlos Santana, Jeff Beck, Keith Richards and many , many more..AND then there is Hendrix..no one else has ever come close to that dude...

BB we have to be better on the OL. That pussy Martin is gone and we have a real LT. If Hickey had any balls he would resign Incognito. He was a good guard and we're still weak at guard.

Tom...try not to have a heart attach..

attach?...attack..hehe

They're fake FZB. BORING!

they don't look that fake to me..we need a second opinion.

Playoffs for Miami this season Tom. Should have happened last year but we all know why it didn't. Schedule is tougher but Lazor will help Tannehill take the next step. Can't wait for the season to start.

yeah BB..we didn't make the playoffs because of our coaching...

here's to hoping you guys are right and I'm wrong..GO DOLPHINS !

The Broken Record Blog

Maybe but it's our broken record blog.

I used to like sitting in the bleachers. When I was 20 and couldn't afford anything else. Hope you didn't take your kids up to that jungle Chad.

You got it Todd, this blog is the dumbest, lamest echo chamber on the internet.

DAE liberalz?! Obummer! Let's talk about Jeff Ireland!

about tonight's Heat game, most of the experts are saying the Heat will win by a good margin..I'm not so sure, all I'm going to say is they better bring it, the Pacers are not a push over team at all ..they need to stop dickin around.

go Heat!

flush why are you here?

:ED ZEP GETTING SUED!!

and rightfully so. when spirit's first album came out, i didn't get past "fresh garbage" and "uncle jack to listen to "taurus" and those opening notes on the geetar sure sound a lot like those on the misery of a record "stairway to heaven". i count spirit's "twelve dreams of dr. sardonicus" as one of the really fine albums ever and i hope those who are still left and their estates collect for getting ripped off by led zep. how about this charted song from spirit, i believe their one and only to reach the rankings;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=en55_U3sKAM

Boy's, Got a couple old friends from the "Old 305) in town, Gonna watch the heat sew this one up while the wife till hate's anything MIAMI......
And I believe I might fall into his category after tonight.......
Heat 101..
Pacers 87.

Tom- Hve been away with the the wife for a few weeks. I see you and david have not missed a beat.

Anti...have a good time with your bud's from the 305..go Heat!

Big Baby- What vegas is really saying is, your dolphins are closer to the jets and the bills, then the Pats. Lets be honest, the real reason the dolphins missed the playoffs last year was because they lost 2 games to somebody named thad lewis. But the fact your so called franchise QB could not get the job done with everything on the line at home against the jets,( who had nothing to play for),says more about tannehill then anything else.

Naples, Dont forget about the coaching the last 2 games.............

A nice easy Heat win. Now on to the threepeat.

The Indianapolis Clowns were a old Negro League Baseball team but the current NBA team from Indianapolis are the real clowns after their play and behavior in the Eastern Conference Finals. The Dolphins will finish 9-8 this season counting the wildcard playoff loss to the Broncos but sadly this rare visit to the playoffs will earn clueless Joe another three years and more.500 type football for years.

Hahaha that was some viscous karmic retribution...can't believe there were a few of you who actually thought the Pacers ever had a chance....Will you ever learn?

bite your tongue mayberd..we don't need clueless Joe another 3 yrs...

say Todd..I for one though the Pacers would give the Heat a much harder time, I'm happy to admit that I was totally wrong..

go Heat!

Well FZB I'm sure you will doubt them in the next series as well...but that's why I like you FZB,you at least you admit when you are wrong, unlike some others on this blog.

Good job Heatles.Pacers can now go back home to live in their illisusionary world of make believe.Thunder would make for a more colorful and less boring Finals against Miami.Only problem is - they cannot win in San Antonio so tonight will be their last hurrah.

I think Stevareno Ross should suit up and play QB for Fins er Whales ala George Plimpton...

With that in mind where's Alex Karras when you need him Stevey old boy...

I know what you mean dukey. We even like Barbara Streisand more than Steven Ross and we literally can't stand her. We frequently fart in her general direction but with Stevey we eat atomic peppers for full blown a**es of fire before flatulating in the direction of his Alfred E. Nueman mug A HA HA HA!!!

Ah what do you know, another human interest story we can all cozy up to er to which we call all cozy...

http://www.nbcnews.com/#/news/us-news/officer-accused-assaulting-student-wheelchair-n119236

Both okc and Sa will be tough, but okc's inconsistency at times (see Westbrook), makes them the easier opponent.

Can't wait to see fins this year, it's make or brake w Tannehill - his improvement or lack thereof will determine playoffs or not. Moreno will be nice help as well.

The Broken Record Blogger...Todd Rundgren's butthole

was in detroit for a few days; nice town.. :)
i see tom is still at it; you know, blaming ireland and not the coaches.
it's ok.
one MORE time, tom, and please, ask people that know the game.
drafts are not judged the day AFTER, you nitwit.
like i keep saying, when ireland's picks are balling next year and we are in the win column, you will remain in the idiot column.

last night was a perfect end to the pacer's season.
send us more links, baby, i'd enjoy the reading..
one and done, huh? lol

Well is San Antonio again ...could go either way...but since my " my bad picking/ good picking " has been working lately I say Spurs in seven..hehe

Go Heat !

David...The reason Tommy boy said last year's draft was a "failure" is because Ireland "reached" on the number one rated defensive player of the draft and didn't picked an offensive tackle which is what we needed...I think.

FZB you are absolutely correct.

I've said the same thing almost a hundred times and you finally got it right. Well almost. It wasn't that Jordan was a reach at #3. in fact i have never suggested Jordan was a reach. NOW READ THIS CAREFULLY. the problem with last year's draft was Jordan was a luxury (DE was not a need) Miami could ill afford with a gaping hole on the OL and a quality OT on the board. Your idiot son picked the wrong position.

Don't waste your time,David...Big Baby won't man up like FZB...

some people never learn. our resident buffoon, david, is a perfect example. hey SFB if the Dolphins win this year it's because Hickey put a winnable team on the field, something ireland failed to do for six years. six years of losing and mediocrity and you're still proclaiming him a great GM. talk about being an idiot...YOU WIN!!!

or maybe we won't win because the team is "handicapped" at the HC position.

jeff ireland was a great GM only an idiot like tom can't see that...lol

i never said he was great, you idiot, i said he had hits and misses.
and one MORE time, he wasn't in control for 6 years.
are you really that stupid?
if philbim were a real coach, we might have switched to a 3-4 on D.. who knows?
we definitely would've run more..
and if we win next year, ireland will get some of the credit.
no matter what you froth and say.
short of cutting every player and starting over, ireland's players will be contributing greatly.

if they'd put jordan at linebacker, it might not have been a "luxury".
when there is a disconnect between management and coaching, it's a problem.
there were no sure fire hits at tackle last year, and none of the lineman picked in the 1st 5 picks would've been worth it.

i revise history to fit whatever i want to say. like i didn't say ireland was a great GM. of course that's a lie but it fits my current story.

God, just shut up already, Jeff Ireland was a terrible GM and was fired. He's gone. You were embarrassingly wrong about him. Just stop.

i was thinking if Miami runs as much this year as they did in 2011 (48% of the time) they'll win the SB. everyone knows, except that idiot tom, that to win more all you have to do is run more....lol
