Sun 3-2 pm: Ultimate Miami poll: LeBron vs. Marino. Vote now!; plus Tiger iffy for Doral, Dolphins said open to big trades, Incognito & more

1) It is SUNDAY, MARCH 2. Click on Random Evidence for today's latest Sunday notes-column package, leading with Miami's Mad March. 2) In The Previous Blogpost (ITPB): Masked Man LeBron, JoJo Nicolas, Incognito vandalizes own car, dumb Elkington & more. 3) Follow us on Twitter @gregcote and also on Instagram, Vine and Facebook.

Tiger withdraws from Honda, iffy for Doral: Tiger Woods withdrew after 13 holes from today's final round of the Honda Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, at 5-over-par for the day and out of the hunt, citing lower back spasms. Woods' status for next week's tournament at Doral is in question. "It's too early to tell," Woods said. "I need treatment every day until Thursday to try to calm it down. We'll see how it is."

Masked Man update: NBA told LeBron James to wear a standard clear protective mask, not the black on he debuted Thursday, and he agreed. In other Heat news, free agent Caron Butler has chosen Thunder over Miami for the prospect of more playing time.

IS IT FINALLY TIME FOR MARINO TO STEP ASIDE FOR LEBRON?: A few quick thoughts from Thursday's Heat win over the Knicks. Love the menacing look of LeBron James' black carbon fiber mask protecting his
1aa1aleb
1aa1adanbroken nose. LeBron has pulled as close to Kevin Durant in the MVP race as Miami has to Indiana for the East's No. 1 seed, and the nose/mask thing enhances James' chances. Voters will like that; it conveys toughness and playing through pain -- MVP attributes. Also, Dwyane Wade looked great. If that's the Wade we see throughout the playoffs, I like Miami's three-peat shot. Click on The Masked Man for my column from the arena off the game. OK now to our latest poll. Is it finally time to say LeBron has surpassed Dan Marino as the greatest player in the history of South Florida professional team sports? I think those are the only two realistically in the debate. The only poll I've had related to this was in May 2012. I asked who was more impressive: Marino in his prime or LeBron right then? Marino won by a 2-to-1 margin, 57.2% to 28.5%, with another 14.3% saying it was too close to call. Two years later, it's time to ask the question more directly. Remember, this is not a favorite-team poll, it isn't about longevity or about who's most "beloved." It's asking who's the greatest? Vote and say why.

WOMAN SUES OVER LOVELY MUGSHOT: Don't know why but I love this story. Meagan Simmons, a young 1aa1amugshotmother from Zephyrhills, Fla., near Tampa, was arrested for DUI and the resulting police mugshot was, well, rather sexy. So the Internet did what the Internet does, which was to take make fun of it, as pictured. At first Simmons seemed to revel in the attention, even mentioning in an interview that she was open to a Playboy shoot if Hugh Hefner himself called. Now she has an attorney and is suing to stop Mr. Internet from making fun of her. Delicioso!

REPORT: DOLPHINS OPEN TO TRADING WALLACE, WAKE, JORDAN: This is from CBSSports.com's Jason LaCanfora yesterday, citing leage sources. (Click HERE for the story). To summarize he claims the Dolphins are shopping DE Dion Jordan, last year's No. 1 draft pick, and that Miami also could be receptive to dealing WR Mike Wallace and DE Cam Wake. This would be pretty stunning if true, considering Wallace/Wake could be the team's two biggest stars and Jordan presumably has much untapped upside. Then again any or all of the three would have value and bring enough draft picks in return to allow significant moves in the coming draft. The Herald cites a team source saying the CBS report is not true. We'll see, stay tuned, et cetera and so forth.

INCOGNITO IN REHAB: Estranged -- and just plain strange -- ex-Dolphin Richie Incognito has an entered an Arizona mental-health rehab facility for stress-related reasons, the NFL Network first reported. Smashing your own $300,000 Ferrari with a baseball bat evidently is one of the warning signs of stress.

If LeBron stays in Miami for the remainder of his career it's him if not it's Dan ask again later.

Richie has a long history of drug, alcohol and mental health problems Greg don't act so surprised and if the guy really does need help then stop the sarcasm too please.

Richie has been fairly vocal about these issues in his past as well I am not breaking any trusts here. Seems like Greg has an agenda against Richie for whatever reason he may have brought us bullygate but he deserves some respect as a human being.

I really think deep down Richie is a good guy and teammate he just has too many times in his life where he acts like a complete misfit. Guy needs a lot of help.

I voted for Richie Incognito.

Gregg Cote is suffering from one of the biggest cases of Low T ever recorded in South Florida.

Well and lets not forget Incognito was hardly the MASTERMIND behind Bullygate. I believe there were others lurking in the shadows and pulling some of those strings...

Incognito is a troubled man. He needs this rehab. At this point in his life he is certainly not a hero.

I don't think you can compare LeBron and Dan Marino. Different sports, different eras and about 10 years too soon for this poll anyway.

Never too soon for Cote who wants to proclaim LeBron as the GOAT at every opportunity.

it really is nothing else to be said about this Incognito/Martin deal, Martin went off the deep end and dragged his buddy along for the ride.

move along.

I'm not voting on the Mario/LeBron debate, they are both great as far as I'm concerned.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Enough said, couldn't agree more with this comment! Also have to say I agree with Mr. Woodcock on both Richie and Cote.

Yawns even a troll like you might enjoy this recent tweet.

Jason La Canfora ‏@JasonLaCanfora
MIA has been gauging trade value for '13 1st round pick Dion Jordan, league sources said, after trading up to 3rd overall for him last year

"This draft is a "C" at best" douche bag tom

that was posted in april.

only an idiot would weigh in on a draft's success after ONE DAY.

clay, vernon and MANY other players took more than, well, A DAY, to prove their worth.

and had we run the ball more and not left JUST ENOUGH TIME on the clock in the baltimore, new england and carolina games we WOULD'VE have ended up 11-5, dummy..

BB..Jason La Canfora is an asswipe troll, the Dolphins won't trade or give up on Jordan at all, the biggest problem is our coaches have him playing out of position, he would be an all-world outside LB if they put him there.

Coyle sucks as a defensive coordinator but even him has to see that he is playing the guy out of position..and I don't believe for a minute the Dolphins are shopping the guy at all.

Too many close, bad losses last year.

Dapper, you promote running more than Jim Fix did and look what happened to him.....

FZB he wouldn't be all world anything he isn't strong enough or good enough to play DE or OLB consistently so far just another Ireland mistake but I wouldn't give up on him just yet.

ok BB,

the guy (Dion Jordan)was THE consensus number 1 defensive player in the whole draft..by EVERY GM IN THE NFL,are U kidding me?

the guy had a shoulder injury and went under the knife in the off season, he was not able to lift weights until almost the end of the year, he missed all off season works outs since he his class graduated in june and was not allowed to participate in any of them and you are already saying the guy is a mistake?

DUDE..lay off the weed .

Things are getting real ugly in the Ukraine. Russian troops have moved into the area and have taken control of the airports.

and I call other people idiots........

go figure!

bbbbwwwwwwwwwwwahahahahahhahahahahahahaha

and I call other people idiots........

go figure!

bbbbwwwwwwwwwwwahahahahahhahahahahahahaha

it's called projecting.....

I remember John Gruden ripping the decision to draft D. Jordan so high saying that he wasn't even an every down defensive lineman in college. He was very puzzled.

FZB

My goodness when will you learn. EVEN IF Dion Jordan turns out to be a good player, which he is not so far, it was still the wrong pick. Miami needed a LT and Lane Johnson was still on the board. Miami's need was OL last year. Guess what? It still is because your nitwit son didn't fill that need. He could have, he should have, but he didn't which is why he's now unemployed.

Give it a break. Dion Jordan was the wrong pick. That pick was as bad as Cam CamMoron picking the Ginn Family in 2007.

Oh well some people will never learn. I never thought you would be one of them FZB. Your misguided clueless friend yes, you no. But hey I willing admit when I'm wrong and I was wrong on that account.

i've admitted i was off in my prediction.
i just don't subscribe to the theory it was ireland's fault.
i also do not post under a false name, you little pansy.
i, along with nick buoniconti, manny fernandez, bill polian and most of ESPN lay the blame on our coaching staff.

yes tom, along with not knowing obamacare is already 3 years old, along with blaming the housing crisis on a law that only applied to banks and not the lending institutions responsible for the mess, along with insisting our play calling wasn't the reason we lost, AND, of course, for giving the draft that gave us pouncey, charles clay and jimmy wilson a C you are an idiot.

newsflash:

because of the salary cap and the collective bargaining agreement, there is a level of parity in the NFL that exists on a level higher than any of our sports.
it's why it's difficult to repeat.
the talent is matched more evenly among teams than ever before.
OUR ISSUE IS NOT TALENT.
it is coaching.
it's not the 80's, tom.
intangibles like organization, culture, consistency and COACHING play a bigger role now than ever before.
we have talent on this team.
we do not have top tier coaching, and THAT explains why we lost..

miami DIDN'T need a left tackle, you idiot.
martin showed enough to give him ONE MORE YEAR.
you do not abandon a 2nd round investment after a rocky 1st year at a position that can take a couple of years to show value.
as for lane johnson, just google the name, folks, and enjoy all the articles on eagles fan boards calling him a bust.
yes tom; you are an idiot.

(the real) david is the dumbest poster on the planet. Jonathan Martin finished dead in pass protection his rookie year. Dead last. Worst in the league.

I said SO FAR a mistake FZ and also that I wouldn't give up on him either. david you're on a roll brother you used one of my favorite insults today the word pansy yes chalk up some points bro! Sorry Tom nothing against you.

I don't think Obamacare is three years old though maybe some form of it but not The Affordable Care Act in it's current form.

So much for my Dennis Pitta fantasy he just got 5 years 32 mil from Baltimore. Saints franchised Jimmy Graham.

BB and Tom...the fact that we have one of the worst defensive coordinators in the NFL doesn't bode very well for D Jordan's development..but make no mistake about it, the kid has a world of talent.

David you truly are the gift that keeps on giving. The latest nugget from dapper
"Miami didn't need a left tackle"

FZB our int numbers were way up this year I'll give Coyle some of the credit but we should be running a 3-4 system.

they moved martin back and forth last year, dumb a#$.
he showed enough to give him a chance ONE MORE YEAR.
you do not give up on players after ONE YEAR, especially when you haven't kept them in the same position.
your hindsight is ridiculous and idiotic.
once it was apparent martin wasn't working out, they signed mckinnie, genius.

you are a moron that thinks a draft that yielded a pro bowl center, a top 10 tight end, and a quality defensive back starter is a C.

and baby?
it AFA IS, in fact, over 3 years old.
the INSURANCE MANDATE provision is the part of the law that went into affect this year.
i was able to obtain insurance even with multiple pre-existing conditions through PCIP, the provision offering coverage to me and others until the last part kicked in..

Hindsight? He was the worst tackle in football you'd have to be brain dead to think he deserved ONE MORE YEAR.

and don't feel bad about tom being the brunt of my insults; it's like the guy is a closet panthers fan who posts garbage on here for the sake of boredom.

- a draft with a pro bowler and 3 other quality starters is an A, not a c. ask any GM..

- if an offensive line is inconsistent than you run the ball more and pass less, especially when your back averages 6 yards a carry when given the ball more than 10 times.

- you do not turn your fastest receiver into a possession receiver and only take shots down the field every other game.

- if your QB is a former receiver who is among the quickest athletes on the team, AND THE LINE IS SHAKY, AND HE'S ACCURATE ON THE RUN,you do not keep dropping back in the pocket, you run him out and put him in situations the utilize his speed.

- if said running back averages 4 yards a carry, you GIVE HIM THE BALL, you don't keep him at an average of 10 carries a game.

- and finally, with all the above obvious to everyone except the idiot tom, you DO NOT HAVE A PASS TO RUN RATIO of 65.2%.

yes, folks. only 2 teams passed at a higher ratio than we did.
atlanta and cleveland.

not brady, brees, manning, manning, wilson, luck, etc.

NONE OF THEM.

did ireland have misses and hits?
yes. all GM'S do.

we sucked it last year because of coaching, PERIOD.

David they didn't start offering coverage until Fall 2013 under the affordable care act. You might have been covered under another state or federal program but it wasn't through that one.

well here's the story that this LaCanfora wrote about Jordan, its all nonsense, he also says the Dolphins are shopping Wallace and Wake..

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/writer/jason-la-canfora/24460690/miami-dolphins-shopping-2013-first-round-pick-dion-jordan

now it does say that D Jordan is a better fit as an edge rusher in a 3-4 defense which everyone knows..

D Jordan- not going anywhere

Wallace-impossible to trade because of his contract, what he needs is a big move the chains physical receiver opposite him.

C Wake- very distinct possibility he gets traded since he's still got good value and a team friendly contract, I would also add Hartline to that..sorry BB.

at this time of the year there are all this rumors going around and most of them never pan out..

You really know how to hurt a guy FZB. That one goes right to the heart no trading my binky.

Old dapper going back to his old canard about ObamaCare. Your problem dap is you can't read. No lack of understanding on my part. You just can't read the English language.

Tell us again how you had two pre existing conditions and your rich parents couldn't help you with either so you suffered until ObamaCare came along. Wow that was a good one. That's like the story of a big fish that got away.

You truly are the gift that keeps on giving.

Tom,

it is really strange that the dolphins, if rumors are true, would say sayonara to cameron wake, and their high priced but can't catch a ball but blames it on everybody else mr. mike wallace. as Big Baby noted, trading up to get a complete question mark in dion jordan with the third pick was completely puzzling; who is gonna give any value for a mangled and unproven entity like dion jordan. it is a real distress signal when these three are put on the market.

Who is the pro bowler in the 2013 draft class. Who are the 3 quality starters?

Miami sucked last year because their talent sucked. Chitty OL. Chitty RBs. No #1 WR. Poor LBs. Bottom third in offense and defense. I guess miami not running every play caused their defense to suck too.

There are nut cases and then there are NUT CASES...

http://nfl.si.com/2014/02/28/adam-muema-resurfaces/?eref=sihp

And Tom...a major reason we sucked last year was because of our coaching..we have the absolute worst coaching staff in the NFL starting with our inept , unimaginative Head Coach.

Not even the most flagrant supporter of Ireland could support Tom's statement that the Dolphins had an "A" grade draft in his 5 years drafting solo.
In fact, his average WOULD be BELOW average. Last year had to be a D. Should be an F, as the new kicker got out-kicked but the old kicker...in Buffalo, not the easiest venue to placekick.

Wilson part of Tom's triumvirate? WILSON? What has HE done? Pouncey regressed, Clay FINALLY played some football. An A grade gets you at least one perennial all conference player, not a one shot wonder. (Pouncey.)

If the Fins trade Wake, and noir the 2 statues at LB there should be a boycott.

iMAWriter, Tom trumpeting Ireland?! Are you really paying attention?

Guy's, Let's just say Ireland disappointed everyone....
But here's something that will PLEASE..

http://msn.foxsports.com/content/dam/fsdigital/fscom/nfl/images/2013/12/16/jenni-burns8.vnocropresize.940.529.medium.38.jpg

While many of my croutechy old contemporaries on here feel comfortable staying snug within classic, yesteryear tunes, life moves on. Posted about this group (Phantogram) a few years back. Glad to see them achieving more success and notoriety.

http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=W97JLBc7C8k

If James stays another 5 years he will beat out the great Dan Marino because of the championships he has won.It looks like Hickey-Aponte- Philbin wants to get rid of a lot of Jeff Ireland's work.I would support trading Wallace and Jordan for draft choices but Wake must stay.I feel sorry for Incognito and Martin as both have serious mental problems.Jeff Ireland should be the main person to blame for Bully Gate as he put these two troubled men together.

Cote, Doe's your wife know of your Man-Love for Lebron????
You sick Freak........

tom, once again, you are an idiot.
"Tell us again how you had two pre existing conditions and your rich parents couldn't help you with either so you suffered until ObamaCare came along."

preexisting condition #1?
asthma. according to the blue cross rep i spoke with, "we don't like asthma".
how does my family's money have anything to do with that, moron?
i have treated it with the same medications for over 12 years; THE LAST TIME i had insurance.

the 2nd reason i was denied?
i visited a chiropractor. yeah, i thought it was ridiculous too.

only an idiot would accuse me of lying about something like this; it's actually quite simple, dummy.

once i GOT INSURANCE through the PCIP provision of the affordable healthcare act, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pre-existing_Condition_Insurance_Plan), i visited an ENT and discovered some things that i hadn't known about.
i was grateful for my family's help with the deductable, but other than that i am not sure what you are alluding to, tom.
anything else you want to know?
favorite color? position? ask away, dummy..

Holy chit Anti !... That's a lovely oommm...fence that chick is leaning on...

OC...what kind of chit music is that?...oye, put some Orquesta Aragon.

Hahahahahahahahaha ! .. Some guy just wrote that Ireland should be blamed for bullygate since he put " those two together" ( pussy Martin & Incognito )....hey buddy then we should blame the asswipe American voters for our economy since they are responsible for putting Obi in the White House....TWICE.

In case anyone cares..the NFL set the cap at 133 mil so now the back stabbing bitch has more "dinero" to spend...lets see what she and her boyfriend go after...

LT
G
CB ( hopefully Grimes)
S
DT

move Misi to MLB..move Ellerbe to OLB...move D Jordan to OLB..cut Wheeler

As great as Marino was, he doesn't come close to matching up with LeBron. One SB loss and an MVP vs. three finals, two championships, and two MVPs? C'mon people! I get the bias, but it's not close.

shopping around Dion Jordan. FOr what? A third to sixth rounder? Jeff Ireland, the gift that keeps on giving.
I wish we could vote Ross off the island, just like that little swindler twerp known as David Samson.

Rasta...first time you and me agree on something...Ross must go.

Gawd some people are so freaking easy. Doesn't
Take much chum at all and WHAM they bite

trade rumors...
If I were GM, I'd entertain any offer for any current player to improve the 55 man roster. Highly doubt the seriousness or validity of this rumor claiming Miami is shopping the 3 mentioned players. Can we trade owners?
voted Marino. Football fan not a basketball fan.

Woodcock,
I see OC has lost some of his manhood since leaving your area/influence. Don't worry brother, I will take up where you left off.

FZB
I like this group of Miami WR's when Gibson is healthy. Hartline has great hands, plays that sideline area like a pro. Gibson was excellent until the knee injury. Wallace-Tannehill,,, just starting to scratch the surface. Tannehill missed several TD bombs with Wallace last season.
Clay is not your typical - conventional TE but very similar to former Miami player Keith Byars only better.

You could get creative and use RB-KR Thigpen more often with screens, reverses, similar to current Saints RB Darren Sproles.

Dolphins O line was the weakest unit in the NFL, unable to run when the other team knew it was coming & unable to pass protect when faced with 3rd & long. The O line impovement is Miami's biggest priority. Start with grabbing T Branden Albert. Albert will be expensive but he is a known commodity. Resign Grimes 2nd priority.

Don't be surprised to see both DT's Soliai & Starks get overpaid somewhere else.

I doubt the story about Dion Jordan is true but if it were what do you think they could get for him? A second or third rounder?

On another topic if our HC is so bad how could you possibly predict Miami will make the playoffs? Seems a tad bit inconsistent. Well no worries FZB you are not in that boat. At least your predictions are consistent with your belief that Philbin is a moron.

IMAWRITER where in the hell did you come up with the notion that I grade Ireland's drafts as an "A"? Nothing could be further from the truth. Check LA if you're looking for someone that dead from the neck up.

Now, now, Jimbo. Please pause gnawing on that cow bone for just a second and consider sampling a piece of suchi every now and then. Variety, my friend.Variety.

btw, you can bank on Woodcock resorting back to looking and acting like Bluto in Animal House absent my influence.

Clay better than Keith Byars slow down.

One has to wonder whether Philbin or any of his coaches were present and part during draft day...

Ireland: I'm moving up the draft to pick up Jordan.

Philbin: But we run a 4-3 on defense!

Ireland: Tough shit. You'll just have to learn to like it.

It looks as if we are destined to keep banging our heads into the wall in order to endure the pain of being subjected to Ross, Philbin, et al next season. What a thoroughly disgusting organization.

Fly on the wall during the 2012 draft...

Ireland: I'm taking Martin from Stanford.

Scout: He may rely too much finesse. I don't see him being very physical.

Ireland: No big deal. I'll stick Incognito on him. He'll toughen up.

Later, the next day...

Ireland: Hmm. Looks like Egnew is still on the board.

Scout: But he can't block!

Ireland: You just don't get it, do you?!

Ireland: Hey Joe I just took Dion Jordan with the 3rd overall pick.

Philbin: Well the bright side is we won't have to put up with your sorry ass next year.

You infidels lay off of my former son and embrace the mediocrity of my new one....

OC Dolphin your posts between 10:26 and 10:39 is probably what happened on draft day.Stephen Ross should have fired Jeff Ireland along with Tony Sparano in January 2011.

Ireland is a level 3 Collie molester FZ...

Ha Ha OC that sounds like Ireland in the draft alright...

Keith Byars was a gamer BB...

It's quite obvious that the Cunt of Monte Cristo is responsible for the Jordan pick. "He can rush my honey hole every night."

"I like this group of Miami WR's when Gibson is healthy. Hartline has great hands, plays that sideline area like a pro. Gibson was excellent until the knee injury. Wallace-Tannehill,,, just starting to scratch the surface. Tannehill missed several TD bombs with Wallace last season.
Clay is not your typical - conventional TE but very similar to former Miami player Keith Byars only better."
- jimbo

absolutely on point.
but our resident genius tomfoolery thinks we need a "number ! receiver".
what else do we need, dumb a#$, a center and defensive end too?

david I see you singling out Tom all the time on this blog can you really not see that everyone here agrees with him and not a single person agrees with you about anything?

being called a dumb a#$ by the guy who predicted 11-5 last year and said Ireland addressed the LT issue last year is a badge of honor. so thank you dapper.

nice post under another name, tomfoolery.
and there are a few people here that DO agree with me.
and some others not on this blog, namely nick buoniconti, manny fernandez, bill polian, the sports announcers at CBS and ESPN, armando salguero, jason taylor, herman edwards, dave hyde, and COUNTLESS OTHERS.

every criticism i have made of the dolphins has been echoed by the above mentioned people.

you can post under fake names to "show" people agree with you.
one need only look to what the above experts have said in criticism of the dolphins.
i win.

one MORE TIME, dummy:
drafting 2 players and signing 3 in one offseason IS ADDRESSING THE LINE.
some moves worked, many didn't.
that's not all on ireland.

Thought you would say that. Sorry SFB that wasn't me. You're so stupid you don't get it that no one here takes you seriously. You're a first class clown dap. What makes you funny is that you're totally oblivious to others laughing at your every post.

Sweet Jesus I think Dolphins get their uniforms at K-Mart..

This team is swimming with Luca Brasi...

Hijo de Putin is currently ejaculating into a bucket with Obama's picture on it.

fellow citizens,

how did keith byars get into the discussions? he was a good runner at ohio state, but was not fast enough getting out of the backfield in the pros, so off to TE or some reasobale facsimile thereof. he could really catch the rock and had more than enough speed to get yards after the receptin; let us see his stats and see what he did for the dolphins thathe couldn't for the eagles:

http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/ByarKe00.htm

shadow, my reference of Byars/Clay is similar in there both hybrid type guys and not fitting a conventional mode. Tweeners. Not exactly alike but similar.

Obi has been punked by Putin again. In a previous interview Putin was asked what it is like to negotiate with the American President & his reply is quite an insult.. Putins words "Like playing chess with a pigeon, he walks across the board, knocks over all the pieces, sh*ts on the board, then struts around like he won the game". Quite an insult.

david, Cote anyone else that has praised this President. Get your a** over to the Crimea and fight for your commander in chief. I'm sitting this one out. Earn your keep for a change.

Jimbo you're talking to the takers of our country, not producers. They never earn their keep. NEVER!

yeah, throwing comments from the cheap seats Tom.

The Heat are cranking on all cylinders. Lebron looks awesome. Wade is averaging 34.5 min per game the past 10 games and scoring 21 a game. Bosh is playing good ball and the bonus is Greg Oden is starting to contribute some meaningful minutes. About 12 a game the past 3 games.

The Heat may not win the championship but they are the best team and if nothing unexpected happens, they should win.
