Heat at the quarter mark: How those three-peat chances looking? New poll. Vote now?; plus Marlins swap OFs, bowl wars result & more

1) It is THURSDAY, DECEMBER 12. We're on the rack in the Friday Page Dungeon materializing our latest NFL predictions. Tonight's pick is Broncos (-10) over Chargers, 31-23; capsule here. 2) To the e-mailers who keep asking: I have bunch of back-loaded vacation days I need to use before end of year. That's why I have had fewer columns lately. 3)  In The Previous Blogpost (ITPB): College bowls poll, Lo-gone Morrison, Brady on Dolphins, Heat-Pacers, NFL Pix 'n Fantasy, final SOPY Top 20, Book of Mormon & more. 4) Follow us on Twitter (gregcote), Instagram (Upsetbird), Vine (Greg Cote) and Facebook (Greg Cote).

Dose o' Dolphins on pregame show: This Sunday's The NFL Today on CBS pregame show will feature a segment in which Dan Marino interviews Joe Philbin, Ryan Tannehill, Mike Wallace and Cam Wake.

Marlins swap outfielders: Marlins today traded Justin Ruggiano to the Cubs for Brian Bogusevic, 29, who batted .273 with six homers in 47 games with Chicago last season.

PULSE-READ: HEAT'S THREE-PEAT HOPES AT THE QUARTER MARK: There used to be a public-service TV ad aimed at bad parents. It went something like, "It's 10 p.m. Do you know where your kids are?" Here's my 1aa1heatodenadaptation: "It's the one-quarter mark of the NBA season. Do your know where the Heat's three-peat hopes are?" I ran this poll prior to the season in late October, so it'll be interesting to compare results. Now, Miami is 16-6, with fresh evidence suggesting Indiana is better in the East. No fewer than three teams in the West have a better record. The Heat is dead-last in rebounding. Dwyane Wade's knees need more and more pampering. On the other hand, LeBron is still LeBron. Based on what you have seen through 22 games and what your gut is saying, answer the poll question as honestly as possible -- or as if you had a sizable bet on the answer, perhaps. Vote and say why.

Poll result: Canes, FSU lead bowls poll: We asked in the previous blogpost what college bowl interests you most, and dominant were Miami-Louisville (48.1 percent) and FSU-AUburn (41.1). Considering this is a MiamiHerald.com blog, this was nio surprise. In fact, it was a lousy poll idea. UCF-Baylor got 3.6%, Michigan State-Stanford 2.7%, Clemson-Ohio State 0.7% -- ouch, Orange Bowl! -- and "other" 3.8%.

THINGS GREG COTE THINKS BUT SELDOM SPEAKS ALOUD (one in a series): I have never seen a man driving a white Volkswagen Beetle.

Greg you took Denver minus the 10 and then predicted an 8 point win.

Dear Greg...

You failed to mention that those adorable Elton John nesting dolls can also deliciously be used to provide the kind of pleasure we buyers love to get.

Eggzactly Woody. Something you would NEVER see from the current occupant of the WH.

Did he send one to C. Sturgis this year?

That is a joke, right Big Baby? You do understand what Cade Foster is enduring in Tuscaloosa, don't you?

No haven't heard but I think I know what you are implying. Maybe Ronnie Van Zandt was wrong maybe there are no good people in Alabama. It sort of speaks to my stance on college football though doesn't it? Sturgis could still use a hug he misses one a game.

Ok just read the link he received threats after the game. Wow there are overzealous college football fans? Yawn.

Football fans are the same everywhere. Most a great but there are enough assholes to make it uncomfortable for players who fail. Go do some research Big Baby on the kickers for FSU had missed wide right against the Canes. It was so bad for them they had to leave Tallahassee.

At the end of the day the letter from W to Cade Foster was an act of class and kindness toward a player suffering mightily now.

Yes a very nice gesture excuse me while I go hug Sturgis he needs some love before the big game Sunday.

So

Much

Fail

Yawns.

Football fans are not the same everywhere. Alabama it is more contentious than religion. Miami, you throw parades to participate in the Russell Athletic Bowl.

Fails.

Definitely not the same everywhere just look at Philly and Oakland for exhibits A and B.

Fans who poison trees Tom tells you all you need to know about football culture in Alabama it's different there.

Funniest line of the day:

I'm not a sign language interpreter, but I did stay at a Holliday Inn Express

Oye, FZ, OC's going to freeze his ass off today in 20 degree weather and stand in line to be one of the first 25 people to walk in to the theater to watch that little troll movie and get a Hobbit booblehead doll that says Merry Xmas when you pull on a little string.

Wassup, OC!

LMFAO, OC.

Obama, has already hired this clown to be the next press secretary.

OC, please tell me that you're going to pass on this Hobbit crap?

GUNGA DIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

chit !!!..a Gunga Din reference !!!!

Woody..I'm not ragging on my boy OC for going to watch the "Hobbitt"..OC..are you going in dressed as an Elf?..just asking, hehe, well I'm eventually going to watch it but I'll wait until it comes out on DVD and I'll buy it from a "cubiche" store on "la saguecera" that makes boot-leg copies (just like the original) for three bucks.

so we are going to hire that sign language guy at Mandela's funeral as our next press secretary?..I think he should be Obi's right hand man, he's way more intelligent than clueless Joe..

just saying.

Dumbest, most boring blog on the internet.

I gotta get outta here. I got to get OUT OF HERE. I GOTTA GET OUT OF HERE! I GOTTA GET OUT OF HERE! I GOTTA GET OUT HERE! YOU GOTTA LET OUT!! YOU GOT TO LET ME OUT! I GOTTA GET OUT! I GOTTA GET OUT! I GOTTA.. I GOTTA.. DON'T TOUCH ME!!!

Mr. Woodcock proudly announces the 2013 cocktail of the year; "The Obi."

Start with one jigger of black coffee, then add another jigger of white vermouth, then two jiggers of Mindori watermelon liquor, add ice, add two black olives, add salt and black pepper, and garnish it with a thin slice of watermelon, and of course serve it in a hollowed out coconut shell.

Mr. Cotes, is there anything you can do about users posting racial hate speech on your blog? It's against the Herald's terms of use.

Thanks,

~ Roger

Roger, I'll put you down as a no vote the next time that Marco Rubio runs for office......

who's Mr. Cotes?

I think he's the bartender assistant who cuts up the watermelon garnishes.

bro..we need Marco in the white house..we need a Cuban running the show..he'll fix the mess Obi created.

here's a photo of my new girlfriend..

http://www.virtuasexygirls.com/wallpapers/Sexy_Babe_Holding_Her_Breast_1388jpeg

hopefully Roger won't get offended.

I think Roger is Potter's college roommate. Wassup Rog, a little sensitive there, bro. I strongly suggest that you buy some Red Foxx CDs and chill out.

RE: alabama kickers

it seems to me that the tide has lost a few games over the years for not having a decent FG kicker. didn't they have some guy named jay _________ who blew many a game, in the shula years methinks, for alabama. i would say that the best college kicker i can remember is sebastian janikowski (?); i think he didn't miss many over his long career and consistently had his kick-offs go deep. okay, so he had a little problem of dispensing date rape drugs to anything with a vagina. UCLA had a korean kicker, john lee, who was terrific for the bruins, got drafted in the first round by the cardinals as i remember, but unfortunately he

Obama created a mess? Wasn't that BUSH?

Yup it was already falling in 2008 boys... And Mr woodcock?? Really? Geez!

Yup...Obi created a bigger mess than he inherited and as far as the Mess Bush inherited..well you can blame the republican congress and that asswipe Bill Clinton and the other asswipe Barney Franks...

How do I know this?... Well I read it on the internet so it must be true...

Ok now...I'm actually beginning to think we have a chance to beat the Beli-Cheaters on sunday but we need to run the football and we somehow need to hold the NE offense to say like 24 pts...it can be done I think.

DO YOU KNOW ANYONE THAT WATCHES FOX SPORTS NEWS SHOW?

regis philbin and a bunch of homos running around the set!!! whatever they do at fox is, i imagine, unwatchable compared to the good old faces at ESPN. and fox had to go buy all those futbol games... fox soccer channel used to be a great watch, but it has given way to foxsports1 and fox soccer plus- don't even know where the premier league review show is, and that was a great watch. regis philbin-PUKE

What'd I say now, Jeff?

Jeff and Roger, you boys don't know much about Cuban culture do you. We make fun of everything. Hell a Cuban funeral looks more like a party than a wake. If it weren't for our sense of humor we would never have been able to put up with commies for 1/2 a century.

I'll give you a little anecdote. When Emilio Milian had his legs blown off in his car by a bomb Cubans all over Miami started ordering a Cuban sandwich without pork (pierna, leg of pork is used as an ingredient in the typical Cuban sandwich) as a Milian sandwich.

"Oye mi amor, dame un sanwich cubano estilo Milian por favor!"

You guys really need to lighten up.

Wood's... Usually the gringos that have no sense of humor are asswipe liberals.

Oaaahh yes..And I DO remember the milian sandwich..

And speaking of sand-whi-ches..bro my wife makes one with carne frita and cebollas fritas that is da bomb...

"Dame un eruto en lata (una Materva) y un sanwich cubano estilo Milian (Cuban sandwich without pork)!"

I said it once and I'll say it again OC, clearly have the most lucid and incisive political mind known to me...

I wish my posts were as grammatically correct as yours as well OC...

Ay moron, you're not in Cuba, you're in the UNITED STATES. Here in the UNITED STATES we respect African-Americans who by the way make up the entire sports industry you jerkoffs talk about all day in this pathetic echo chamber. Go back to your sorry banana republic if you want to be a racist jackass, here in the UNITED STATES your kind of Cuban bulls*** ignorance isn't welcome or wanted.

If Kazaam no longer exists we will surely have to invent him...

STFU Roger. Last time I checked Miami was in the good old US of A, and you can't get more cuban than Miami. Go get yourself a fresh batch of guilt by watching 12 hours straight of The Butler or 12 Years a Slave. Then go off and elect another incompetent, anti-capitalist commie so you can feel all good all over.

Geezzus Roger...have you always had these anger issues?... You need to learn to relax, have you seen that commercial were a guy is just pissed about life and someone hands him a snickers bar?... And after a couple of bites he feels better?...well since you're so angry maybe you should drive over to La Carreta restaurant and order a " media noche" , buddy guarantee to make you feel better.

If that doesn't help you then you got major problems...

Dukito...let it go amigo..Kazimiro is a goner, finito, kaput..

FZB, AHHHHH La Carrereta brings back great Memory's...

BTW, Roger has GOT TO BE Lil Potters brother....
Has to be...

Did you know that the Gator's mascot was so depressed over there season he joined the army????

ah.. back from a relaxing art and music and family filled week in miami.
as for sunday, we win. book it.
woody? best quote of the year:
"If it weren't for our sense of humor we would never have been able to put up with commies for 1/2 a century".
you and the other right wing exilo locos haven't put up with anything; you've been HERE old man.. :)
and FZB?
since obama replaced bush, the deficit has lowered, as has spending, and unemployment.
the market also has reached record highs, the wars are coming to an end, and more and more people are getting health insurance by the day, including those with pre-existing conditions.
not bad for a centrist president, i'd say..

but David...I read it on the internet so it must be true amigo..anywho..I'm glad you had a good time in the 305 with your fam.

Broncos loss last night should give a little more incentive to the Beli-Cheaters on sunday, now they have clear selling to be the numero uno seed for the playoffs if they run the table but we still have a shot at beating them, fack'em.

here is the biggest key to the game, score one more point than them.

and David, "exilo locos" ???..hhhmmm, I like it.

Cote ...have to acknowledge that you were right on your call of last night's NFL match-up between Denver and San Diego, "Good Call!" I don't bet on sports but I never would have taken San Diego!

Is it possible to hate a player and still respect his play on the field? That is how I am with Tom Brady, this year especially has been so much more frustrating than most. I have seen him bring his team back and win with almost NO time on the freakn clock at least three times this year! WTF? You can not count this guy out until the clock runs compltely out.

The only thing to remember is this:Everyone on this blog will one day die(prob sooner than later) and everyone they know will also die.And none of this will matter. It will be like it never happened.NONE of it will matter. Not the Dolphins or your dumb political leanings.None of it will matter.Like Kansas said"All we are is dust in the wind"....

look it's a butt hurt democrat lol!

Democrat? Nga,plz...None of that shit matters.Simpleton.

Roger, feel free to kiss my ass. There is a little item called the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States that guarantees me Freedom of Speech, something that you libtard mofos seem to forget every single day, you freaking Mick, Dago, Kike, Hillbilly, Redneck, mother focker!
