Look for our Collball Week 6 post featuring UM-Georgia Tech to magically appear in the blog at 11 a.m. 2) In The Previous Blogpost (ITPB): Ranking baseball's playoff teams by Ex-Marlins Factor, hockey returns, NFL pix 'n fantasy (Week 4 results), SOPY rankings & more. 3) Follow us on Twitter (gregcote), Instagram (Upsetbird), Vine (Greg Cote) and Facebook (Greg Cote).

1aa1bbws13BASEBALL DOWN TO ITS FINAL EIGHT. YOU PICK ONE: OK we're done with the tiebreaker game and wild-card-games and now we're down to how God envisioned the playoffs if God gave a crap: the Final Eight. The four MLB Division Series have just begun, so it's time to invite your vote on what team you're most rooting for. Not who who think will but but who you want to win. Teams are listed alphabetically by city. If you are not particularly a fan of any surviving team, what do you find likeable about the one you choose? Vote and say why.

UPSET BIRD DAY: WEEK 5 PREDIX FOR DOLPHINS, NFL: Nothing sits in my gut like a fetid lump of feta 1aa1fripixcheese than when I make a pick I'm unsure of -- not because the outcome is in doubt (in the NFL it always is), but because I either changed my mind or talked myself out of an initial feeling. My instinct said Ravens but I ended up picking Dolphins, 24-20. Cue foreboding music. Click on Week 5 Gems for all of my latest NFL predix capsules, and on King Sport First Quarter Awards for my league and Dolphins award frontrunners at the season's quarter turn. (My week got off to a bum start last night. Had Bills in an upset at Cleveland and was looking fine at 10-0 but it didn't happen. Why? Because the fittingly named Jeff Tuel happened).

PANTHERS' PERFECT START TO HOCKEY SEASON: It wasn't so much the 4-2 win in Dallas but the way of 1aa1barkovit, the stars of it. For me it was the bookend quality of the team's oldest addition, goalie Tim Thomas, 39, winning in the crease while the youngest addition, 18-year-old top draft pick Aleksander Barkov (pictured), scored a goal in his NHL debut. It was a night to make GM Dale Tallon and Cats fan feel good. What more do want from an opener? (Click HERE for my earlier column previewing the Panthers season).
