G2: Pacers 97, Heat 93: Series tied 1-1 heading to Indy because LeBron needs more help; plus A-Rod's big sale, Heath Evans is evil & more

1aa1bobd1) It is SATURDAY, MAY 25. Happy 72nd birthday (on Friday) to Robert Allen Zimmerman, one of my musical and cultural heroes. Long live Bob Dylan! 2) In The Previous Blogpost (ITPB): A 6-pack of observations on Heat Game 1 win, LeBron unanimous All-NBA, new Heat song, Urban Beach Weekend, Sad-O-Meter. 3) Join us on Twitter @gregcote and now on Instagram at upsetbird.

G2: PACERS 97, HEAT 93: LEBRON'S 36 NOT ENOUGH AS SERIES TIED 1-1: Miami was too much a one-man show last night, with LeBron scoring 36 points but not getting enough help. James' two late turnovers were crucial mistakes, but it wouldn't have come down to frantic last possessions if more teammates had stepped up to augment James' effort. Miami made only 7 of 22 three-pointers, missed eight free throws, got out-rebounded, had more turnovers and had no answers in defending Roy Hibbert, who had 29 points on 10-for-15 shooting. Original post: Whether Miami was "lucky" to win Game 1 (103-102 in OT on a last-second LeBron layup) -- undoubtedly the cry out of Indianapolis -- is irrelevant. Whether by 30 points or one, the series is 1-0 Miami. Tonight is when the claim to series 1aa1heatpacers2 1aa1heatpacerscontrol is staked. Miami must win to keep it, because Indiana will feel like it is their's if the Pacers are 1-1 heading to two straight games up there. I like Miami to protect the home court again, mainly because the Heat 1aa1g2are unlikely to again see Ray Allen, Shane Battier and Norris Cole a combined 2-for-17. Miami needs a bench beyond Birdman Andersen, who was the team's non-LeBron MVP in Game 1. By the way, the Heat-Pacers G1 national TV rating of 8.2 nearly doubled the 4.7 average from the first two games in the Western finals. That's the power and draw of LeBron and champion Miami. Oh, and I found it funny that Indy center Roy Hibbert took to whining on Twitter about a foul committed against him by Battier, writing, "That wasn't inadvertant. Battier knew what he was doing." I would think Roy's larger complaint would be against his own coach, Frank Vogel, for illogically taking him out of the game in the final minute, a move that backfired like a 1979 pickup truck.

HEATH EVANS' DOLPHINS-BASHING A TIRED ACT: It has become apparent NFL Network analyst Heath Evans (right) has an axe to grind (left) against the Dolphins. Dolfans who didn't blink might recall Evans 1aa1heathe
1aa1axebarely played fullback for Miami in 2005, appearing as a reserve in six games, carrying once for zero yards. Apparently being cut at midseason is something he has not forgotten. Evans' latest tirade came Thursday on WINZ-940, when he ripped every decision GM Jeff Ireland has made this offseason, saying irrationally of No. 1 draft pick Dion Jordan, "Any time he's in the game, he's a liability." The trouble is some of us in the media treat what Evans says as newsworthy. It's drivel. The only thing newsworthy about what Evans said yesterday is that he said it on a Dolphins-owned radio show. It was like hearing the Pope booed at Sunday Mass. Evans' Dolphins-bashing has become unprofessionally personal and so tired. My suggestion for Heath would borrow from the immortal words of Pat Riley: "Shut the f--- up."

1aa1arodA-ROD SELLS MIAMI SHACK FOR $30 MILLION: He was neighbors with the likes of Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and actor Matt Damon before closing on the sale Friday. Now, for all we know, poor Yankee Alex Rodriguez is on the street, homeless. The place he just sold is pictured. It is very similar to my own home, other than it being about 51,000-square feet bigger and including nine bedrooms, 11 baths, European white-oak flooring, and a zen garden, rooftop deck and indoor batting cage. Unfortunately for A-Rod, the mansion's amenities do not include a hip that works.

Hibbert's right about Battier, that was an intentional knee to the gut. You could call Battier a dirty player or a crafty veteran, there's really no distinction there.

'Illogical' is the wrong word for Vogel's decision. It might have been the wrong call but there was perfect logic behind it - 2.2 seconds, 9.9 times out of 10 you're defending a jump shot. Just terrible positioning by Paul George and a great individual effort by LeBron to get around him.

I don't know who Heath Evans is or why he's on TV.

No problem with UF-UM being bumped for Michigan-ND and I don't think the noon slot is any worse than 3:30 as far as 'primetime' goes.

Can't believe ABC is opting for NASCAR over college football though, they must get big ratings from it.

Evans can say what he wants but to criticize the entire draft of Ireland this year.Pretty funny by the majority of what regular fans likely think.Yep ...he must still have a bitter taste because he was a lousy player for Miami and they dumped him.He s lucky he s got media work.Whatever.Hope the Heat go up tonight 2-0.That would be big and shut up the PACERS AND THEIR EXCUSE MAKERS.I predict they will and they ll also play BETTER than they did in Game 1.GO HEAT.

Happy birthday Bob Dylan..

Heath Evans?..please, he doesn't deserve the time of day.

I'm calling out the following players:

Haslem,Battier,Allen and Chalmers..they've all been mediocre the past few games, time to step up.

I hope Spo finds a few minutes for Miller or Lewis (specially Miller)

Heath Evans? What a joke.

Battier is doing a job on the defensive end pestering the opposing players. He is in their domes.

Ray Allen needs to get some advice from Lebron on foul shooting.

Paul George can't do it by himself, he needs John and Ringo too..he,he

You like that one Kaz?

You guys need to check out this video..

the Heat are in big trouble, Allen is struggling big time and Chalmers is back to being the worst point guard in the NBA..

when does football season starts again

The Heat Are The Most Talented Team In The NBA.

You can kiss this year goodbye. Pacers have the Heats number and there's nothing Lebron, Wade or Bosch can do about it. Pacers are younger faster and much better shooters than the Heat.
The Heat was very lucky to have won the first game and now they have lost the second. Pacers will put them away from game 2 on.

we will see about that. I agree that the heat is in trouble and that lebron as well as wade and bosh needs help but they have been in this position before. like I said, we will see. we may be down but we're not out

Spoelstra Sucks.

Admit It.

The Heat Have The Most Talented Team In The NBA.

But Coaching Is The Heats Weak Link.

Vogel Is A Better Coach Than Spo.

The Heat Are More Talented Than The Pacers.

I Cut Dansby.

Now I Want To Fire Spo.

I Am Only Looking For The Best Interest In Miami.

The Heat Should Have 2 Titles Going On 3. But Spo Sucks.

you're a bunch of idiots. as soon as ONE of those 3 gets hot, this series is over, the haters scurry away like roaches, and we win our 2nd in a row.

Guys,

The Pacers are a very good defensive team and they have the Big's to beat us but the bottom line is just like the first year of the big three if our bench doesn't produce we are dog poop.

Allen, battier,Cole and Chalmers have been non existing in the series, if we don't fix that we are history, LeBron,Bosh and Wade can't do it alone and the same thing that happened against Dallas will happen here.

obviously we have to win one of our next two if not this series is OVA..

The Heat could not afford that loss last night they better get their act together, because the Pacers are a good team and know how to beat the Heat.
As for this idiot Heath Evans, what has he ever done to even make comments on any NFL team? He was a nobody during his playing career, and he is still a nobody. Just sayin

Bob Dylan is a folk hero,,,, get it??? hahahaha folk hero, folk music,,, forget about it.

Heath Evans- Didn't he make getting concussions his career in the NFL? I read the article that covered his entire rant and it wasn't pretty. He trashed the entire team so it came off as personal and not professional insight.
