G5: Heat 94, Bulls 91. Miami rallies, advances to Eastern finals!; plus Wade poll, LeBron ranked #2, bad hotel, updated Sad-O-Meter & more

1) It is THURSDAY, MAY 16.Dolphins signed former Richmond QB Aaron Corp, as third-stringer or training camp fodder. 2) In The Previous Blogpost (ITPB): Heat's Game 4 win, Heat biggest-rival poll, '14 NFL draft, Sad-O-Meter, Jackmerius Tacktheritrix. 3) Join us on Twitter @agregcote.

Click on Wade Strikes Back for my column off last night's game.

G5: HEAT 94, BULLS 91: WILD GAME LEAVES MIAMI SMILING, AND MOVING ON (Heat win series 4-1, awaits Pacers-Knicks winner): LeBron James led Miami with 23, but Dwyane Wade's last six points (of 18) were some of the biggest of the night. Crazy game. Miami led by as many as 18 early, trailed by as many as 11 in the second half but flexed championship mettle late. Eastern finals will open in Miami on Monday or Wednesday. Original post: Evidently the NBA would not allow Chicago to formally concede and forfeit, so the Bulls are here for what 1aa1bullsheat2should be a perfunctory Game 5 whipping to end this second-round 1aa1g5series. We know that Derrick Rose and Luol Deng are once again out for the wounded, limping Bulls and that Kirk Hinrich is doubtful. The only real mystery tonight is whether Dwyane Wade, nursing a bruised right knee, will play or sit this one out. I think he should rest. Lebron 1aa1deadbulland company can win without him. The only people who want to avoid a Game 6 back in Chitown more than Heat players are Miami media members such as yours truly. No cheering in the press box, but for a lot of us it'll be a night of inwardly rooting for our own best interests. Miami would win this series even if Bulls were at full-strength, but as is, save that Game 1 abberation, this matchup has proced almost as lopsided as the Bucks series. It's been more interesting because of the technicals, ejections and bad blood, but not much more competitive. Heat end it tonight, and await Pacers-Knicks survivor.

SHOULD DWYANE WADE AND HIS RIGHT KNEE PLAY TONIGHT?: I know. I Am Not Dwyane's Knee, you 1aa1dwadeare (probably) not a doctor and nobody can be certain about this question. What we know is that Wade's right knee is far from 100 percent, that he is questionable as a game-time decision to play tonight, and that rest would seem to be a pretty logical Rx. Assume that Dwyane insists to Erik Spoelstra that he can play tonight's Game 5. If you're the coach, what do you do? You vote right here! This is a Flash Poll (patent pending). That means limited-time. Voting will shut off around mid-late afternoon so vote now, and say why.

Flash Poll: Call to sit Wade tonight wins by more than 2-to-1 margin. (I think most of us may have been wrong...) Results below:

Poll result: Knicks still biggest Heat rival: We asked and you said Miami's biggest NBA rival was the Knicks at 38.3 percent, followed by the Celtics at 32.4% and Bulls at 23.2. "Somebody else" drew 6.1%.

LEBRON NO. 2 IN U.S SPORTS EARNINGS: Sports illustrated's 10th annual "Fortunate 50," newly out, 1aa1fort50ranks the top-earning U.S. athletes for 2013 in combined salary and endorsements, and Heat megastar LeBron James is ranked second at $56.55 million. No. 1 is boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. at $90 mill. Rounding out top five after LeBron are Drew Brees ($47.80M), Kobe Bryant ($46.85M) and Tiger Woods ($40.84M). Two other Miami-area athletes ton the list are Heat stars Dwyane Wade (11th, $28.68M) and Chris Bosh (47th, $18.55M).

THE MOST DISAPPOINTING HOTEL EVER: When traveling to Chicago, may I recommend that you avoid the Congress Plaza Hotel as if it were ablaze? I stayed there for Heat-Bulls Game 4. The independent (non-chain) hotel has a rich history. The hotel has an idyllic location, off South Michigan Avenue across 1aa1congressfrom Grant Park. The hotel is otherwise a monumental letdown. I felt like I had been cast into The Shining. When wondering when the hotel was last refurbished, you don't wonder what year, you wonder what decade. Rooms are in disrepair, hallway carpeting is ancient, my floor's ice machine rattled and groaned and took about five minutes to spit ice, neither boarding-pass computer worked, and I couldn't get wifi because the front desk messed up which room I was in. Oh, almost forgot: I was charged $49 for early check-in -- an outrage. I was a registered guest. My room was available. But because I wanted to check in at 10 a.m. instead of noon I wasa charged an extra $57.04 (with taxes). That is the hotel's "policy," I was told. Nightmare. (It was probably a fitting omen that I had to cross a picket line to enter the place. Seriously). When next in Chitown, I'd sleep on a cot under the L before I'd stay at the Congress Plaza again.

1aa1gamesignsTHE MOST LIMITED-MARKET PRODUCT EVER: A company called Game Signs produces "enhancement stickers" (see left) for the fingernails of baseball catchers so pitchers as well as sign-stealing opponents can better read the signals. This is a blog, so you know I'm not making it up!

UPDATED MARLINS' SAD-O-METER: We have this new blog feature we update as long as Marlins' winning 1aa1bbsadpercentage is under .300 -- as long as the New York Mets' infamous 1962 record of 40-120 (.250) is within dubious reach. Well, four straight losses have brought the S-O-M roaring back as the season hits its one-quarter mark. Updated Sad-O-Meter: Current record, 11-29 (.275). Season projection, 45.55 wins, 116.45 losses.

Click back. Will be updating/adding much to this latest blogpost...

Greg, your stay at the Congress probably felt like the Shining only because they stuck you in room 237.

...you didn't happen to run into Scatman Crothers, did you?

All Work and No Play Makes Greg a Dull Boy.

Leave your bag at the front desk and go do something for two hours next time.

The best way to rest Wade is to put game 5 away early with him on the court. Closeout games can be tricky - if he doesn't have cartilage to waste on game 5 he certainly doesn't have cartilage to waste on games 6 or 7.

Maybe the Bulls will shoot 25 percent again and it won't matter.

Knicks don't look like a 54 win team any longer should have known they would revert back to the Bricks.

Never been to Chicago but the wife has always wanted to go I'll skip The Congress but you can't tell me that your wife would have stayed there must have been a case of flying solo.

REDRUM REDRUM REDRUM...

A brilliant movie I have always wanted to read the book by King but never have it's always hard doing that after seeing it on screen though.

Bulls scored 9 in a quarter last game maybe just sit all the starters.

Cote--I think the manager knew you were a wild liberal and just charged you the extra fee because of that.

Let Wade sit. His career is nearing the end. He just has too much wear and tear. I don't think they even need Wade anymore. Lebron is just that good, when he decides he wants to be aggressive.

Pacers are a very strong team with Granger--however with Granger out it will be the Heat in 6.

Interesting. This from Wikipedia:

"When the film rights to Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings were sold to United Artists, The Beatles approached Kubrick to direct them in a film based on the books, but Kubrick told John Lennon he felt the story was unfilmable. Director Peter Jackson has reported that Tolkien was against the involvement of the Beatles."

♬ We all live in a house covered by grass, a house covered by grass, a house covered by grass ♪

Oh they need Wade alright now and in the future Kyrie Irving looking pretty good right now.

Why do we need D Wade for?..the Bulls are a tired team we should be able to handle them without him..Start Mike Miller...

I'm starting to like Tolkien now, OC. His books suck, but not his opinion of the Beatles.

Big Baby - the Celtics are done, they have to blow up their roster and rebuild, one championship to show for their 'Big Three' era.

Sorry that all you have left to make yourself feel better is dreaming of LeBron going back to Cleveland.

http://www.nba.com/cavaliers/news/gilbert_letter_100708.html

Oye, Jr. called me last night. Don't worry I'll move his stuff home after the quarter ends.

Best Big Man Ever

www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgRZKrX6arA

Thanks, Woods.

Wow, OC, sounds like your boy, Serg was right.....now apparently there's a report that Tiger was using a super shinny lob wedge to shine the sun in Sergio's eyes during his, ahem, slight problems on 17.

http://www.latimes.com/sports/sportsnow/la-sp-sn-marshal-tiger-woods-20130514,0,2776799.story

I am sorry you get offended when I say that but it is reality you can't tell me he isn't thinking about it just a little and if he sees a declining Dwayne Wade in his future then I am worried if I am a Heat fan.

We'll take the one Championship also thanks they hadn't won one in 22 years before that and getting that Big Three together was quite unexpected.

Thanks Woodcock I knew Woods was lying and that Sergio was right.

Knew it deep down in my soul.

OC,

I've been reading the reviews of Star Trek and almost everyone is giving it the thumps up...good chit.

Obi doesn't seem to know too much about anything, from the IRS targeting conservative groups to looking into the AP communications to Benghazi, can you liberals tell me again why we elected this fool?..and they called Bush clueless and stupid..

Cote will still root for Tiger I am sure of it though those liberals forgive everything.

And social conservatives only worry about what everyone else is doing.

Is Sergio still a whiny loser Kazaam?

No I think not.

IRS is an actual scandal by the way, heads will roll for that one, just disgraceful.

Woody,

here are a couple of classic Beatle tunes to get your blood boiling..he,he

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCsgZ9zU7IA

and this one reminds me of Obi, I don't know why..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnlijUAuna0

only to find gideons bible..yeah, yeah yeah.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbq-8FYpYPo

Yea, of course he's a whiney loser. So obsessed with Tiger Woods, he missed the green on one shot and wants to blame his entire tournament on it.

Surprised he didn't find a way to blame Tiger for his tin cup hole.

Looks like Tiger may have just "misrembered".

Looks like he dropped in the Fortunate race too Tiger Woods still has endorsements?

He would be in Floyd Jr. territory if he hadn't lied to everyone about spending time with his family watching movies on a Friday night.

Tiger Woods on what people think about him:

http://i.imgur.com/uDiNU.gif

Oh this is getting good we have a lot of Woods fans here I count maybe 2 plus Cote I hope we can keep this going for awhile.

Tiger: 24 Euro wins
Sergio: 10 Euro wins

Tiger: 78 PGA wins
Sergio: 8 PGA wins

How does one spell envy? G A R __ __ __

El Tigre has a thing for blondes, not that there is anything wrong with it.

really guys, who cares about this she said, she said, the guy won the turney fair and square, that's it move on..

Why didn't you just admit that you were a Woods fan when I asked you yesterday it wasn't leprechauns I saw in the grassy knoll it was you.

BB,

On Wood's, I don't care either way, I know the guy is one of the greatest golfer's of all time and he went through a little bit of a rough couple of years (his own fault) but everyone deserves a second chance so I'm happy for him..

it still won't make me watch anything golf but I hope he continues to play at a high level.

Winning can't buy class and Tiger has very little.

Like I said, BB. I am fascinated by the best of everything; Be it a sport, a human act (like the guy who jumped off the plane recently for the highest record), a steak, whatever. I find that my understanding of the world is enhanced after recognizing the outermost definitive state, then the stuff in the middle generally is easy to comprehend.

Tiger defines what it is to be the greatest at that sport. So naturally, I watch and applaud. It did sadden me to see him fall from grace the way he did, but this is precisely why we remain sinful, we are human.

Taking the high road a bit but a solid philosophical response gentleman's bet?

Sergio wins more Majors than Tiger this year are we on?

You're on.

A side bet (as the overall chances for either of them to win any of the remaining majors this year) would be to total their cumulative places for the last three, with the lowest number determining the winner.

is not a given) was cut off.

FZB,

El Tiger Is Only Mejorando La Rasa. Can't Blame Him.

Garcia Is A Whiner. That Is Like A Tennis Player Getting Mad When Someone Is Talking When They Are About To Serve. That Shows Weak Mental Toughness.

The Way Things Are Going Tiger Will Win The Next Major.

He Is Finally Getting Use To His New Swing. And His Putting Seems To Be Coming Back.

No argument there.

Sergio Is The Spanish P. Mickelson.

btw, BB, if you're willing to go along on that side bet, Tiger placed T4 and Garcia finished T8 at The Masters.

Come to think of it, it's a miracle those in the PC left have not jumped all over the name - The Masters. I would expect them any moment now to start trying to change the name to something like The Augusta.

All righty guys,

the Heat are in for a very tough series against the Pacers, they are big up front and have great perimiter defense plus outside shooting, they were the number one defensive team in the NBA this could easely go 7 games...

I think I would play Miller a bit more, he is a good passer and rebounder in addition to being a good shooter...

Sergio Has 1 Tournament Win In The Last 5 Years.

Tiger Has 4 In 7 Tries This Year.

Not Saying Tiger Is Back But He Is Getting There.

I'll take the side bet OC should be interesting to see where they rank both are playing well.

Dashi,

lol on your Tigre comment...

FZB,

Pacers Are The Toughest Team For Miami To Play.

I Was Hoping NY Would've Won The Series.

The Pacers, The Heats Biggest Rival Right Now.

The Only Team The Heat Had A Losing Record Against This Season.

Indiana Is A Young Team With Experience And Depth. And Size. And Coaching.

Phil Mickelson has 37 tour wins including 3 majors I am sure that Sergio would love to be Phil but he isn't as good.

More stupid comparisons.

FZB,

He Learned It From His Daddy.

If You Want To Take It A Step Further. Tiger Doesn't Hire Black People Either.

Not Being Racist Just Speaking The Truth.

What Is Phil Known For Genius?

Do You Even Watch Golf? Or Just Look At The Stats.

Rolando McClain just retired at 23. Al Davis picked him 8th overall, back in 010.

Um he's known for being a good husband, humble person down to earth basically everything that Tiger is not.

Plus he's a golfing legend and Sergio is not.

Again stupid comparison.

And While We At.

BB Go F Yourself With A Rotten Broom.

STFU! Punk.

Go Eat A Big One.

Fool! Only Speak To Dashi When You Are Spoken To.

Else Know Your Role And Stay In Your Lane.

OK guys,

apparently, Joe Philbin is getting a reputation around the league as a solid talent evaluator, coupled that he seems to be working quite nicely with Jeff Ireland and the two make a good combination, wouldn't it make sense for the Dolphins to give Ireland and extention now to match the years remaining under Philbin's contract?..

I think Ireland/Philbin have done a great job this off season to re shape the team and make us a lot more competitive (draft and free agency), making any kind of a change now would be counter productive..

You Are A Sorry Excuse For A Human Being.

And I'm Not Angry Or Mad. Just Tired Of You Pooping Off At The Mouth With Everything I Say.

Do I Look Like The Guy Who Left Your Mom When You Was Little. Gosh.

Grow Up You Big Baby.

FZB,

Funny How Nobody Wanted To Come To Miami Last Year. And Now Everyone Wants To Come.

And How All The Ireland Hate Has Died Down.

Dude not for nothing but they can't stand you on the other blog either people are just tired of your act stop being such an as*hole and maybe people will respect you.

oh boy..here we go.

OC Dolphin at 1:13 PM . Well said OC, no wonder you find me so intriguing. Thanks for the compliment, OC......

FZ, No to the Ireland contract extension. We've first got to taste the pie that's in the oven.

Let Me Guess Cause You Troll The Other Blog To.

Do You Want To Keep Exposing Yourself?

That, or fire him and hire literally any other scout in the country who didn't learn everything he knows from Bill Parcells.

Stability is only good when the people you're keeping are good or at least neutral in their job.

You Don't Think I Know Who IS STALKING DASHI.

Like I Said I Don't Need To Hide Behind Other Names. Dashi Is Dashi.

You On The Other Hand.

Keep Talking FF.

Dude they think you are the dumbest person in the world over there you know it just relax and try not show your stupidity and ignorance so often and maybe people will like you.

BB.

You Think A Guy That Is So Full Of Himself That Constantly Refers To Himself In The 3rd Person. Needs Your Or Anybody Approval?

Don't Even Answer. Cause We All Know The Answer To That One.

My Question Is Why Do You Make Dashi Your Life. When Dashi Can Care Less About You.

Stick To The Topic! Not Dashi.

Or You Want To Destroy This Blog With Dashi Talk Like "They" Ruin The Other Blog.

I Have Respect For Mr. Cote. And The Bloggers Here. SO I WILL END THIS RIGHT NOW.
Back To The Subject At Hand. Not Dashi.

OC,

As Irelands Biggest Fan. Even Though FZB Might Have Something To Say About It.

I Will Treat Him Like He Treats The Players. Wait Til After The Season To Work On A Extension.

People that refer to themselves in the 3rd person are generally as*holes thanks for clarifying that.

I know nothing. I am not here...I did not even get us this morning.

Barack Obama

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgcxGFmYyPs

And On Earlier.

P. Mickelson Is Known For Choking At The Big Moment. Anyone Who Watches Golf Knows That.

Phil Could've Been The Left Handed Tiger If He Didn't Fold Under Pressure Like Nick Anderson.

Phil Has Underachieved His Whole Career. Like Sergio.

Oye Wood's-Ter,

did you get a chance to listen to the Beatle tunes I posted for Ya..hehe

comon guys (BB and Dashi)..stop it already, you two are adults (I think), let's call a truce..or not.

Kaz,

if Ross fires Ireland now the new GM will come in a clean house, Philbin and the whole coaching staff will be gone and the new GM and coach will want their own players to fit their system...I don't want that, we are getting very close to contending for the playoffs, playoffs?..yes I said it.

There's no way a new GM would fire Philbin, that decision is usually made by the owner and never made without the owner's approval.

FZB,

Look At The Conversation.

I'm Not The Instigator.

And Then He Takes The Schtick Serious. Like I Go Out In My Real Life Talking In 3rd Person.

I Could Care Less. Or Give A Flying Fluck. I Come Here To Talk Sports. NOT DASHI.

And Calling Me The A'hole. When His First Words Out Of His Mouth Is Always Dashi Is A Idiot. Seems Hypocritical. No?

Did I Say Him Thinking Sergio Will Win A Major Stupid?

Yet, who is the a'hole?

Kaz,

I Believe If They Don't Resign Ireland. Philbin Will Have A Hand In Picking The New GM. Not Vice Versa.

There Was A Time Not To Long Ago Where Coaches Picked The GM. Not The Other Way Around.

Don't feed the troll.

I saw that FZB people will do anything I guess hope that wasn't you last week.

BB,

I'm sure it happened this last weekend too, now we didn't get to "its a small world" but we stood in line over an hour waiting on the "toy story" ride..chit.

How is that new park section with the Seven Dwarf stuff should I bring my kids before they get too old?

yes is nice but don't go in the summer, its hot, humid and there are huge crowd's..best to go in late Nov or Dec..

way less people and much cooler weather, make sure you get a fake florida ID..he,he, it will save you a bundle.

No kidding last time out family of four 2 day pass cost a cool grand.

OMG the radical rightwing media at the Puffingtonhost is dumping on Obama. Calling him NIXONIAN.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/15/obama-nixon-doj-ap-pentagon-papers_n_3278303.html

Well if Obama's lost the Puffington he's done. Started about the same time in Nixon's second term. Now that it's come out he targeted the media with his illegal phone taps, he's lost his cover. What a ffing idiot.

Disney in the summmer been there done that it's miserable.

Hey Tom, a couple of thoughts for ya,,

Did you get to taste the "chocolates" in Brussels?, they are the best.

by the way, Obi walks on water amigo, nothing will happen to him, I hate to burst your bubble..

I wonder what the Dukes-Ter thinks about Obi being compared to Richard M Dixon...hhhmmmm.

do tell us Dukey.

They Couldn't Impeach The Last Black President, They Won't Impeach This Black President.

That’s The Truth Truth.

you're right Dashi, they tried to impeach slick Willie but they couldn't do it...

I FEEL YOUR PAIN !!!!!

FZB you know that he who shall not be named is a flaming fruitcake liberal right?

yes BB, I know, he voted for Obi...

BB,

maybe you should call your son and find out what's going on in NY???

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/05/15/report-david-garrard-tells-teammates-hes-leaving-the-jets/

Too bad for them he's the best QB they have wouldn't be surprised if it is because he wants to play somewhere else.

But the good news is I have my son back!

He's not ever going to wear green again!

Still can't believe the Dolphins wanted to waste all of 2012 chasing 10 wins and a wildcard loss behind David Garrard.

Dude that's old news let me and FZB enjoy an inside joke don't be like he who shall not be named.
