DOLFAN SATISFACTION METER: G12: Results are certified in the latest Dolfan Satisfaction Meter, and they show 37.0 percent overall satisfaction in the wake of Sunday afternoon's 23-16 home loss to New England Patriots putting Miami's season record at 1aa1dsm5-7. The DSM, in its fifth year, is continuous weekly gauge of how fans are feeling about the Dolphins and their direction. Right after each game I invite you to share your overall degree of satisfaction. Criteria for voting is your own, but I suggest fans consider the most recent game's performance and caliber of opponent, the season as a whole, the direction the club is heading and your overall degree of optimism -- all in the context of reasonable expectations. Polls never close (you may still vote), but results are certified official the morning after one full day of voting. In this case that was around 8:45 a.m. today/Tuesday.

Well, we all knew this was a rebuilding year, wins and losses don't matter as much as our young players getting experience (specially Tannehill).

Long is hurt again, its obvious now we should not try to re sign him, he is not the same player we drafted.

Our defense had a solid game.

Tannehill has no help out there, no running game and no receivers that can create separation...

another game with no TD passes for tannehill. granted that the first quarter pass was somewhat catchable nad that bess was a complete non-factor, but tannehill has been relatively stagnant the past few games with SF and NE away coming up. i'd really expect some surge in his play, ti am afraid that it is not coming. methinks that his first year in the pros will turn out to be mediocre; he is gonna need a lot of work to catch up to the NFL readiness displayed by luck and RGIII.

If it wasn't for the horsebleep muffed punt and the roughing the kicker call(and some others) we probably win that game I don't want to hear about weapons.

From this season it'll be almost impossible to say anything about what Ryan Tannehill is as a quarterback - they're not asking him to be a quarterback who wins games and he's obliging. Plus he's throwing to trashcans being pushed around in shopping carts.

One thing we can say for sure though: he's no Andrew Luck.

Very interesting game, I was sitting with a friend of my dads who is the head of the athletic committee on UM's board of trustees.

He said that the university is convinced that they're getting a four year bowl ban and that the hope was that this year will count double and it'll only wind up being a one year ban.

He also said that all the coaches are still receiving their bonuses as if they had coached a bowl game and won the division and that Golden's extension that goes through 2020 makes it almost impossible for him to be hired away. If Tennessee wants him they'll basically have to hire him without interviewing him first and pay a huge buyout to UM. If he interviews anywhere while still coaching UM he loses all guarantees and there's an automatic cut to his salary.

Thought you guaranteed a win FZB? Lol. Defense was heroic, but this team is just bereft of talent thanks to Ireland. Only one way to fix that issue...

Dolphins should move Pouncey to guard and find a new center.

listening to the dolphins' radio broadacst is a hoot!! jimmy cefalo has every team "they're showing blitz" on every play, and bob griese says of tom brady "well, he's won two super bowls and lost another"!! well i guess that's true, because winning three means you have won two, and losing two does include "losing another"; the talmudic brain of bob griese, cerebral QB in his day, at work. as stated often, the glory days of dolphincasts were whne bill zimfer and our beloved maddog, RIP, were doing a two man booth and sounding great- no stepping on each other and one clear play-by-play man with maddog sticking strictly to color and not jumping before zimf called the action. joe rose may be a nice fellow, but how'd he ever get into, as Rudy would say, calberkeley?

I agree Long is no priority-injury prone. Still not convinced on Tannehill. Would rather see them go for another QB and have Tannehill as back-up...didn't he play halfback/flanker in college? Draft a quality QB, Tannehill and Cassel for back-up and Tannehill all around player. Sort of like Wes Welker was/is...never never never should have let him go!

Kazaam, boy I sure hope you are wrong about that 4 bowl ban.

voted somewhat satisfied. Miami played tough against the best team in the division, best QB in the world, best HC in the NFL. Keeping Pats to 23 points was crititcal if Miami wanted a shot to win it. Tannehill needs to find a way to score TD's.
I'll Tannehill his props though. Bellczech can drive a good rookie QB crazy & look bad in a hurry. Tannehill missed on a bomb to wide open Hartline in the first & fourth quarters.
Keep an eye on rookie WR Rishard Matthews. This guy may be a keeper. Matthews made a great catch on a sideline catch today. There are some young up & coming players on the current Dolphins roster. The patchwork secondary didn't do too bad against Brady today. Sean Smith & Reshad Jones played well. Ireland made the right choice in promoting Jones and letting a popular Yeramiah Bell go.

4 year bowl ban, that is.....

Now, Tannehill will be fine, he has no help out there...

Whats wrong with Jake Long now? I see he had an ice pack taped on his left arm and didn't play the second half. The announcers said Long injured his tricep muscle. I have triceps, they are the back of the arm above the elbow & and below the deltoid muscle. Mine have a boxed kind of shape similar to other grown men who work out and aren't obese. Longs arm is one big fatty mass made to hold deep fried turkey legs.

the U needs to get rid of Mona Shalahaha and rebuild its reputation as a football school. Bowl ban is tough to deal with. However,,,, you need to quit feeling sorry for yourself and look to Ohio State if you need a blue print to follow. I know he is hate by all U fans but having a quality coach like Urban Meyer can let you bypass any obstacles coming your way.
I am most impressed with Meyer in Ohio State over the great jobs PSU, NDame did this year.

Jimbo - bet Ohio State wishes their university leaders (not presidents) chose to self-impose bowl bans, they'd be playing in the national championship this year.

Head coaches run college football programs, not university presidents.

Anybody who thinks Miami should get rid of Shalala is insane. Miami's academic reputation has rocketed since she took over and the football program's problems have little to do with her.

I love football too and wish the Canes could regain past glory but Shalala has been amazing at the far more important aspects of her job. Lets keep some perspective.

Listen guys, here is the deal..

our OL is not protecting the kid and not giving him a running game, Long is probably out for the year so that means more problems for the OL, J Martin now moves to LT ,hopefully next year too.

we have no speed at WR and the TE position, Tannehill is handicapped out there, our defense had a solid game but they just ran out of gas at the end, this loss is not on them, turn-overs and an inept offense did the trick.

as they play the last 4 games, why not let the young players like L Miller,D Thomas ,Egnew and Matthews play more, I'm sure I'm missing a couple of more but we need to find out about the rookies..

So you're saying Ireland should be fired for failing to provide any weapons for his young QB and for trading Brandon Marshall without replacing him and for spending so much resources on the offensive line with little to show for it.

I agree.

University of Miami: AKA USJ (University of Spoiled Jews), AKA SAU (South American University).

Until Brady Retires, Fins have zero hope. 2016 should be our year!

If we can't beat Bellicheat and Brady we can't beat anybody ! WAKE UP DAMMIT, beat the best now and WIN in the future!

Wait 'till Brady retires? Get real! Beat the best to beat the rest!!!

astute analysis of jake long, big fat zhlub who is not gonna be around next year. jonathan martin is a decent enough athlete to be given a chance at LT, the "prominent" position for pass protection-hardee, har, har!! a team that runs the ball doesn't need a bryant mckinnie type- they need a power blocker and decent pass protector. a team that can run the ball provides the QB with the best pass protection possible. as much as i wanted georgia to win, watching alabama pound them in the second half time and time again set up the long TD pass that was the game winner (aided by some dumb play-caling at game's end and an dumb play bythe guy who caught the ball with 5 seconds left in-bounds).

joe philbin has his players on a "play count" and so cameron wake wasn't on the field for the patriots' clinching drive? a play count? when there are 40 seconds (pretty much) between plays and the weather is not what it is in august/september? if you are not gonna play the starting defensive ends, you might as well go for it on 4th and a yard at midfield. absolutely STUPIT!!!! two tough games followed by two winnable games, but i am thinking that buffalo at full strength can win down here, and that jacksonville- as bad as they are- is capable of ending their season on a high note with a motivated chad henne; hey, if they lose out my 5-11 will come true, but it will take a total collapse by the dolphins.

No, Ireland should not be fired, he needs and I think will get at least two more years, a GM is responsible for two things that will keep him at his job, find a QB and a HC, I believe he has found both.

most of the lack of talent on the team doesn't fall on him but on Parcells, Ireland only became in charge in 2011.

like I said before,we all knew this was a rebuilding year.

Its all about draft positioning from here. My hope is that the GM can make some wise picks, or better yet they fire Ireland and bring in Polian.

dear the shadow knows,
Bob Greise is the luckiest human being I know. He was an average qb who was lucky to have a tremendous running game. He was declared a genius by those idiots in the booth, not for his passing but his handing off to Czonka. Name one other Hall of Famer who was pulled routinely when his team was behind because he was not their best option to win. Earl Morrel and Don Strock should have been on that bust in Akron. You will never hear him tell you what to expect when he announces a game, but he will take a shot at telling you what he just thinks he saw. Twenty five percent of the time he is way off base. He appeals to the Midwest mindset of sitting there blankly watching a game, not upsetting them as he blah blah blahs along That is why he did Big Ten games for years. Listen to him if you can, NBC fired him after one year. You ask for mediocrity, he has it.

It didn't have to be a rebuilding year FZB but it is now because Tannehill by himself lost too many games.

The next 4 games are big for him if he doesn't show more ability I am officially nervous we have lost many winnable games because of his inconsistency I don't care who he is throwing to it's obvious.

I would play Martin at LT for the remainder of this season & tell him at seasons end to prepare for either side next year. Long is expecting a contract that guarantees him $10-15 mil a yr. You don't pay a Tackle that kind of $.
Andrew: agree with you to a point. The O line was tooled with too much & lots of $ was wasted doing it. Ireland isn't the real problem there. Parcells picking Jake Long was. Sparano couldn't make up his mind on setting a starting line and sticking with it. Sparano brought in Marco Columbo to play a season at RT,,, Columbo is the worst RT I've ever seen.
Philbin, Coyle & some of the other assistants seem to coach well & players respond to them.

I'd get Charles Clay in more, bring him as FB & H Back. Jehovahski Lane can be let go. I'd bring in rookie WR Marshal & slide Bess into the slot.

Bob Costas uses the tragedy in Kansas City to stump for gun control. Stick to sports Bob.

I think that's exactly what will happen FZB. Just don't forget to post in two seasons when another batch of Clyde Gateses, Michael Egnews and Chris Clemonses has busted out and the Dolphins are still completely devoid of playmakers. Ireland simply has no idea how to scout anyone but lineman.

Let's be serious, it's been "a rebuilding year" since Marino left. Dolphins are already saying they want to bring Jake Long back; Ireland just does not get it.

Spot on shadow actually Tannehill has been mostly stagnant all year long his accuracy has been a problem since training camp and it's not getting better.

That NE defense is not good and he made them look that way I hope he gets better but as you state, the early returns are not good.

FZB please stop blaming the lack of a running game we went for over 100 yards yesterday and WR's that get separation c'mon Tannehill missed Hartline more than a few times yesterday when he was wide open.

All that matters is whether or not Tannehill can develop into a franchise quarterback, you'd be a fool to say he is or isn't the answer based on this season.

But at least they didn't waste the year on David Garrard like they wanted to.

I didn't say that he was or wasn't the answer only that the early returns weren't good anyone can see that his stats are terrible this year.

I am too dissatisfied to vote today.

If only they had wasted yet another year trying to scrape together 9 wins and a wildcard berth behind a quarterback with no chance of ever leading them to a Super Bowl.

Dolphins Mr. Magooed themselves into a season that progressed the franchise. First one since Marino retired over a decade ago.

Kazaam I am still curious as to how you learned who Mr. Magoo was he is light years before your time.

Leslie Nielson.

FZB- My take on the game is a little different then yours. To say the Dolphins defense played great , is a stretch. I thought they played well, but when the Pats went on that 7:18 minute drive late in the 4th qtr, and they died. Philbin had to use all 3 time outs on that drive. Tannahill right now, looks average. When you can't throw 1 td pass in todays NFL, that is not good. I thought Belichick had him confused all day. Forget those 2 long passes he completed after that drive and they went up by 10, they where in a defense to keep the play in front of the safetys, like garbage time. I wonder if Tannah. thinks they are still, just another team. The Pats played without both starting guards and Gronk, 3 good blockers in the o-line.

Garbage time ok right Naples we gift wrapped that game for you with a nice pretty bow on top any halfway decent QB would have won that game for us unfortunately we didn't have one yesterday.

Gift wrapped the game?

The Patriots marched up and down on the Dolphins defense, it's not like they lucked out with a few long plays or a kick return.

323 yards is a low yardage total for NE we held them down.

By gift wrapped I meant muffed punt, too many penalties and mistakes cost Miami the game.

As an aside not the reason we lost but crap call on Dansby (uncatchable ball and blatantly missed face mask penalty on Tannehill didn't help either) I didn't see the block in the back on the Jones return so I can't comment on that one. Not the reason we lost but it didn't help.

Big Baby- Good teams win when they don't play well. Good teams cause turnovers on average to bad teams. Pats lead the league in the turnover ratio. By Brady's standards, yesterday was a bad game for him, but they still won. 10th div. championship in last 11 years. New NFL record, and the only reason it was not 11-11, Brady went out the 1st game of the year. You need all 3 parts of a team to win a game.

Great when does the parade start I won't be there just didn't like your garbage time comment that game was in doubt most of the day when there is an onside kick involved there's not any garbage time involved usually.

All ACC-Canes ? Nada

Cote, you need to add a little bubble and one more statement to agree or not with. You should have included the statement "The Dolphins suck donkey dicks." to the poll. I would certainly have voted for that one. Very dissatisfied? Dude, that's what you are when you order a bad pizza, Dolphins fans aren't just dissatisfied they think the Dolphins suck donkey dicks. The same applies to the Marlins.

Hey Cote, I'am shocked you havent said anything about Lebron being S.Is Man of the year yet, I know you have "Man-love" for the hoopster, I just thought you'ld already post something, Then again having a 3 hour lunch break you might not have heard yet.

It's in the header.

Lebron's 27, could be the G.O.A.T. ESPN made 'The Heat Index', LeBron should have restraining orders out on Skip Bayless and Stephen A.

The attention might not be earned yet but Cote's interest in James isn't even on the high end among sports writers.

Hard not to be very disatisfied after Fins lose yet another very winnable game against NE no less. Eh.. Ross could move franchise to Las Vegas and call team Circus Circus thus leaving Dolphin Franchise tag safely in Miami.

FZB-Big Baby- How do you guys feel about Tannah after watching Luck, RG3, and Wilson? If this guy RG3 can stay healthy, what they gave up to get him will be well worth it. After watching Luck, the Colts will rule the AFC in 4-5 years. Wilson is the steal of the draft in the 3rd round.

Naples is sniffing in the right area. I'm not sure the argument points to the QB, however, perhaps more the coaching or team is to blame. But the Colts had a putrid record last year as did the Redskins, both who had worse records than Miami, yet find themselves very much in the playoff picture. You have to cite only Miami and Cleveland as the only two teams who drafted and started a QB -AND- not who is not making a serious run at the playoffs.

My knee jerk reaction is to blame Ireland, JFTHOI (just for the...).

Please bring Bill Polian to the Dolphins for Christmas Santa(Ross)

Colts & Skins not only drafted a QB they imported some good WR targets.

Tannehill will be the Dolphins franchise QB. This offseason the GM will add some weapons for the QB. Snake bitten franchise leaves the fans understandably pessimistic.

At least we ain't the J-E-T-S!! jets, Jets, JETS! lol

Ahhh, here we are again... December and our beloved Dolphins team is out of the playoff picture. Day Ja View.
Poll Question: Would you perform oral on Whoopi Goldberg if it guaranteed the Dolphins a division title?
Yes or No or Would anyone know about this?

Me??? guess were sitting this one out fellas.

Closing in on Christmas, NFL winners & losers gap growing, Jake Long out, Dolphin fans already looking at the next years draft board..

"With the 12th overall pick in the 2013 draft, the Miami Dolphins draft Michigan Offensive Lineman, Tubbs Long Jr"! just joking

not so automatic on getting a great wideout, whether via fre agency of the draft. pluss, the dolphin offensive line woes will remain in place. as they will draft somewhere in the middle, number one isn't fgoing to be cslvin johnson or demond bryant, and dophin management couldn't even locate t.y. hilton in the same area code (or adjoining). until this group can, and they have plenty of picks, find a terrific passcather, don't expect a miracle. and if they keep jake zhlub long and let reggie bush go, they are idiots. bush is miles better than the pedestrian backs they have and probably would take a pay cut and take incentives to stay here. NE would lave a guy with his talent, and bush to NE means the dolphins are in the division cellar again. at this point tied with the other two floundering teams, but it is quite possible that the dolphins could lose 3/4 of the remaining games.

Cote, get of your fat ass and add the Dolphins suck donkey dicks choice to the satisfaction meter.

Colts already had Reggie Wayne and they brought in T.Y. Hilton (drafted after Egnew) and Andrew Luck's college tight end as a safety blanket.

Redskins already had Santana Moss and Fred Davis and they payed big bucks to bring in Pierre Garcon.

Dolphins already had Brandon Marshall but they gave him away because their offense 'can't use' a premier wide receiver. Now we're all sitting here hoping they overpay a middling role receiver like Greg Jennings just so we might get some idea of what kind of quarterback we have in 2013.

'I’ve always thought this, and I’ve been fortunate enough to be around some good quarterbacks, I think your really good quarterbacks, your really great quarterbacks make those around him better. I think that’s the mark of a great quarterback.'

In over 50 years of watching football I can't remember the last time a great wide receiver made a quarterback great. I have seen the opposite happen over, and over, and over. As an example I give you Tom Brady and his revolving door of pass receiving targets.

Hey OC, here's another review a lot closer to your current residency status. U of T no less. Maybe this guy will be reviewing that troll movie next week I'll keep an eye out for it for you.
