CANESFAN SATISFACTION METER: G12 / SEASON FINAL: Results are certified in the latest and final Canesfan Satisfaction Meter, and they show 80.9 percent overall satisfaction for the season in the wake of Saturday's 52-45 victory at Duke. That put UM's final 2012
record at 7-5 overall and 5-3 in the ACC with a share of the conference's Coastal Division title. The overall plus rating is the highest -- by a lot --in our four years of CSM polls in the blog, indicating, to me, a strong affirmation of coach Al Golden and what he is doing. Our CSM polls are your invitation after every Hurricanes game to vote on your overall satisfaction with the team and season in a continuing weekly gauge of how UM football fans are feeling. Criteria for voting is your own, but I suggest you consider the most recent game's performance and caliber of opponent, season as a whole, program's direction, and your overall degree of optimism -- all in the context of reasonable expectations. Special emphasis in this final poll should be given to the season as a whole, with no penalty to the team (we'd suggest) for the university electing to self-impose a postseason ban. Polls never close (you may still vote), but results are certified official the morning after one full day of voting. In this case that was around 11 a.m. today/Monday. Thanks to the thousands of fans who participated in our 2012 CSM polls, and we'll see you again next season.

Canes defense showed zero improvement over the course of the season but Shalala is cheap so we will be stuck with Dimwit D'Onofrio for another season.

Tough to be satisfied when the Canes give up 45 points and almost 600 yards to ffing DUKE.
Posted by: Tom | November 24, 2012 at 05:50 PM
I just want the defence staff to put getting our boys some weight and please work on the worst defence in the nation.

That huge win against tough Duke should something positive to build on for next season.... said nobody ever.
Posted by: Jimbo | November 24, 2012 at 06:51 PM
Worst defensive showing since the Saddam VS Schartzkoff "Hail-Mary" Manuver in the dessert.
Ripper can you comment?

Whelp, I didn't graduate high school and don't have a college to root for, guess I should go read up on the University of Miami and try to troll some of their fans into talking to me!

Looks like the offense came around for the most part this year. The defense was beyond horrible and today was no exception. 10 of 11 starters return on defense. I don't know if that is good or bad.
Posted by: Noel | November 24, 2012 at 07:54 PM
Cane fans,
everyone thought prior to the season the Canes would finish last in their division, this young team over-achieved this year, they played a bunch of true freshmen/sophomores and gained a bunch of valuable experience, most of the time they were over matched physically by older more mature teams and they kept competing.
we have 20 returning starters next year, we have a great coach/leader and the future is bright, voted very satisfied.
Posted by: FZB | November 24, 2012 at 08:32 PM
What can you expect when you have 17 or so freshman or sophs on your two deep.
Posted by: arlean | November 24, 2012 at 09:28 PM
Awful defense, but the officiating in this game was pure Tobacco Road. They tried everything they could to give Dook that game.
Posted by: billb | November 24, 2012 at 09:46 PM
fellers,
it was no secret that duke was gonna score on UM, but courtesy mister duke johnson the canes ended with more points. no surprise either way.

So who is the acc champion? Florida or Georgia?
Posted by: Acc is terrible | November 24, 2012 at 10:38 PM
10 returning defensive starters> Spells trouble because they cant tackle. I doubt you will see a vast improvement in this defense unless they play a different style of defense.
Don't blame the former coach because many of his players are not starting on defense.

Once again...
Dear Cane Fan...
The NCAA is not bound by the Constitution. They are not part of the government….
There is not the same sort of protection you might see in a criminal courtroom, like a 5th amendment right not to incriminate yourself or Miranda rights to remain silent. Everyone who works or plays in the NCAA says they're basically giving up that right to participate in college athletics. That clause is in plain ENGLISH on each and every Contract and Scholarship that is signed by EVERY Employee and Student-Athlete.
This is not a case of guilty until proven innocent. This is no different than a court case in which the prosecution presents their side claiming guilt and then the defense chooses not to testify.
The NCAA has evidence and testimony that infractions in fact happened. They have requested interviews with the former players to give them the opportunity to refute the allegations. The players are choosing not to cooperate. Not cooperating is their right, but it means that the NCAA will have no other choice but to use the information that they have which indicates Miami's guilt.
So I ask U... What about the above do U not understand ?

Just close down the acc. What a joke of a conference. 0 and 4 against the sec yesterday with many favorites playing at home. What a joke. Pathetic.

I believe that every Cane fan is happy with the outcome of the season, 7-5 is better than the 6-6 last year. There was improvement on both sides of the football, just more on offense. The early lose of the juniors who went to the NFL hurt the defense but the experience the current freshmen and sophomores got is invalueable. The really sad thing is, the Canes would have given FSwho a better game than 6-6 GT, but is was the right call to bowl ban again. But what is really sad is a 6-6 team is going to the ACC championship game, and they looked awful in their last game against UGA. How sad for the ACC, and who the hell is even going to take the time to watch that game.
Thank you Seniors for all you have done for the University of Miami and the athletic program. Good luck in the future and GO CANES.

Agree with bill on the defense and the officiating in this game. Absolutely typical of ACC officials. It felt like the NCAA had instructed them to do everything in their power to have us lose this game.
Don't care for this confusing defense that we're running. It's evident our players seem confused half the time. Tackling is horrible except for a few player exceptions (Perryman, Deon Bush, Eddie Jones, Tracy Howard on occasion). Zero improvement on D and one of the worst in the college football. I lay much of the blame on the coaching. Just my honest opinion.
Props to the offense although they struggled against quality teams. Have to move the ball against the CFB big boys. I still like the offense that Coach Fisch is running and look forward to their continued development next year.
Congrats to the entire staff and team for winning the Coastal Div. Nice accomplishment and even more to strive for.
Giant props to Mr. Duke Johnson and thanks to all our seniors, especially Mike James....my personal favorite.

Mr. Woodcock,
lame kiffin calls a TO and a USC TD comes off the board. that was the game. as bad as monte kiffin's defense was, the son's play-calling was worse. no roll-outs to keep the pressure off a young man with a bazooka arm who was meat sitting in the middle of the pocket. trying to force it in froma yard out with undersized backs who can find creases but couldn't drive you or me, let alone the irish line a yard. max did okay for a guy who practiced one week with the passcatchers- the first long throw markise lee turned the wrong way at first on what could have been a TD. losing to ND is never fun, but they were a better coached and talented team- one who could pull a #2 QB off the bench and use him if they had to. and that "all-america" center, #58 for the trojans, may have been the worst blocking lineman i've seen at the alma mater. it says here georgia will beat the tide andthen the irish. and, momma mia, the bruins have to play stanford again!! things aren't gonna turn around in one week for jim mora. mehates stanford, but i give credit to a tough running defensive team that has a great runner in stephon harris and should/could have derailed the irish in south bend. for all the top 10 teams in the SEC, don't be surprised if oregon and stanford boioth wind up in the top 7 after all is done. i wouldthink that the at latge berths would go to oregon and florida, with a&m going to the cotton bowl with their fantastic young QB. no problems with johnny mansiel winning the statue here.
Posted by: the shadow knows | November 25, 2012 at 10:02 AM
shadow, I didn't think USC was good enough for the upset. The game played out the way I thought it would. Notre Dame will beat Alabama.

Please Cane fan... Go around all Winter/Spring and Summer spouting off how U WON THE ACC Coastal along with UNC n Ga. Tech !!!

Jimbo,
i am taking the dawgs in the SEC game. have stated since last year that aaron murray had the best arm in college, and the tide buckled against johnny manziel, whose greatnessdoes not include being the passer that aaron murray is. we'll see in a week
Posted by: the shadow knows | November 25, 2012 at 12:18 PM
shadow,, that is interesting & very possible. I'm leaning toward NDame out of football tradition & my disdain for little mr saban. If Georgia rises to the occasion... so be it. ANYBODY but Bama.
Posted by: Jimbo | November 25, 2012 at 12:47 PM
dolphins defense haven't benefitted from a turnover in 4 games.
Posted by: Jimbo | November 26, 2012 at 09:32 AM
NC State beats FSU and has a 7-5 record and fires their coach.
Dah U loses to FSU and has a 7-5 record and the fans are pumped.
How the mighty have fallen, hard, and the HAMMER hasn't even been thrown down yet. See you guys in about 10 years.
Posted by: Rawpimple | November 26, 2012 at 10:31 AM
Jimbo I am enjoying the slow decline of the Steelers I am sure that you are too 8 turnovers in a game yikes.
Alabama (if they make it) should crush ND I told Cote the spread will be double digits and I am sticking to it.
So glad we finally saw the Tannehill we all have been waiting for let's get another win against NE.

NE's defense is still average but they have an outrageous plus 28 turnover ratio which wins them games if we don't turn it over we have a chance.
Posted by: Big Baby | November 26, 2012 at 11:14 AM
One of the worst ref'd games I have ever seen.
1. A clear cut TD taking away.
2. Fumbles that magically get switched to incomplete passes.
3. A TD for a WR that clearly pushed off.
4. Offsides kickoff penalty that never happened.
5. A phantom face mask call.
Man gotta love those ACC refs. They'll do anything to help any other team look competitive against the Canes. Duke wouldn't have put up more than 24pts had it not been for the "assistance" from those credible ACC refs.
2013 BRING IT CANES!!!!

sooo, what are our chances against the Cheat-triots?
they have a few key guys on offense that are injured/missing, there is a chance.
Posted by: FZB | November 26, 2012 at 12:39 PM
Chances not bad if Tannehill and co. have another good game our d needs to shut down Ridley if that happens chances are better.
Huge game for Miami a win and we are right there in contention I wonder where Naples will be this week with his head in the sand or talking his usual Pats are the greatest team ever bs.
