Canesfan Satisfaction Meter: 29.4%

[1) It is SATURDAY, OCTOBER 6. Find our main Collball Week 6 post including UM-Notre Dame game post directly below this in the blog. 2) Check out our video channel at YouTube/TheGregCote and join us on Twitter @gregcote]

CANESFAN SATISFACTION METER: G6: Results are certified for the latest installment of the Canesfan Satisfaction Meter, and they show 29.4 percent overall satisfaction in the wake of Saturday night's 41-3 loss to Notre Dame at Soldier Field putting 1aa1csm12Miami's season record at 4-2 overall (and still 3-0 in the ACC). In its fourth season, our blog's CSM polls are your invitation after every Hurricanes game to vote on your overall satisfaction with the team and season. The CSM is a continuing weekly gauge of how UM football fans are feeling. Criteria for voting is your own, but I suggest you consider the most recent game's performance and caliber of opponent, season as a whole, program's direction, and your overall degree of optimism -- all in the context of reasonable expectations. Polls never close (you may still vote), but results are certified official the morning after one full day of voting. In this case that was around 9:15 a.m. today/Monday.

#4 drops two TDs at the outset of the game, QB underthrows open receivers, defense cannot stop one run after another after another. i am not a UM fan, but i dislike ND so this game was brutal. if UM weren't so young, it would be time to jump ship; however the youth are gonna get mangled as they did tonight and at k-state when they go up against veteran players. still, miami mistakes turned this one around early.

OHIO STATE-14 passes, SOUTH CAROLINA-10 passes

wanna win at football? running is still the most effective way. did ND throw 25 times? i don't think so and the only pass i remember was a little pitch in the backfield that #33 took upfield for about 20 yards.

notre dame-26 throws, not many in 2nd half

florida-less than 15 throws, and 176 yards running

run, run, run, play defense and win- same old formula is still working. let's see how ND and stanford turns out- it ays here that stanford is more physicalk than ND and will win

Shadow, basically true..not always though. If a high flying team gets ahead big early enough, the better defensive team based on running game won't catch up.
Example ..Marino's win over da undefeated Bears in 85. Bears game plan was run Payton..but they were down too far already.

W. Virgnia - Alabama would be an interesting matchup.

But generally, I think a ranking system is the most ludicrous method every chosen to determine champions. Just something we've come to acept over 100 yrs, just like baseball is accepted as a sport.

If you look at all the undefeated teams non-conf schedules, very few play anyone of substance.
So it comes down to winning all your conference games. Leaving it to conjecture (and weird schedule strength math) which conferences are actually the strongest. They all have very strong, average, and weak teams. ..major conferences that is.

Donovan injured again tonight. Possibly missing the very important qualifiers in a week.

Shadow, if you havent watched a Seattle Portland game yet .. I think they're on Sunday evening. In Portland though. But still, awesome festive crowd despite being near the bottom of the west.

Irish football championship not a late thriller like last year's. But two teams wer ein it that dont make it often, so it generated great viewership. Donegal beat County Mayo 2-11 to 0-13. I'm looking up highlights on youtube now. 83,000 on hand at Croke Park (same place where N. Dame beat Navy this season).

Hey boys!!

how can you be satisfied by losing to a no talent inferior team.after the first quarter no one showed up.norte dame had two hundred yard rushers in the game.why build up peoples hope with that kind of performance?there is no excuses the team was flat.it is time for the coaching staff to take ownership for the lack of performance.having the ball three times the second half is horrible and unacceptable.was the beatdown and the embarisment worth the payout?

All is well in TITLETOWN !!!

as you know, irish and australian rules are amongst my favorite things in the world of sport. i have subscribed to "be-in sports", a function of al-jazeera, which promises, besides la liga and the south american WC qualififying, to bring more international sport to the american TV screen- HOORAY!! i have developed a fondness for cricket after watching the docu-film "fire in babylon". my english pal graham is a cricket guy-no futbol- and i am finally understanding the game. it isn't the most popular game in the world for nothing- pakistan and india even put away their atomic weapons and hate for each other when they play.

great to see your posts and hope all is going well with you- still living in houston, home of the #1 ranked houston texans? i remember gary kubiak when he was the QB at texas a & m; as a disciple of dan reeves and mike shanahan he has become a very, very good coach in the NFL, to say the least.

great turnaround for penn state. one must commend the head coach, his staff, and the players who didn't jump ship in the face of the torrential scandal. they cleaned house and are on the right path; hoping they can beat the buckeyes (don't think they have played urban meyer's powerhouse of a team yet). the buckeyes ran (i mean RAN) some great counter plays to spring their QB for long runs and i love great running, even if it is a team not in my cluster of favorites- for which ohio state qualifies.

as everyone can see the young Canes are not ready for prime time just yet, a bunch of dropped passes, penalties and no defense makes for a bad combination..

its a learning process, we have no physicallity on defense at all, no excuses but WE ARE PLAYING WITH A BUNCH OF TRUE FRESMEN, and that's a fact...However we are in the right track with the right man in charge and things will get bettet.

ps-AND RAWPIMPLE AND CHOMP CHOMP, before you say anything, you can both blow me at the same time.

if you think the U is back, the worst is yet to come. you got bernard and UNC next, then a pissed off FSU after that. an inexperienced v tech with l thomas at the helm that will give us trouble with his legs. the U always underachieves against the likes of virginia on the road. s florida scrambling quarterback, does anybody remember that eventful 3-0 win. and then they go to the hardest place to play in the ACC at duke, as per randy shannon. which by the way are no push overs this year. miami will be lucky if they finish 3-3 the rest of the way. i had them going 4-8. and it's still possible. the bottom line is if this regime doesnt find a front 4 that can put pressure in the backfield you will be seeing the same for years to come. d'onofrio will not be fired or demoted. so if you think golden is the savior you better hope that this incoming class has 10 DL if not your loyalty to the U will be tested for years to come

U can tune into the Sunshine Network now and watch a REAL Defense, on a REAL team, from a REAL Conference play U looosers...

Top 5 !!!

Now that Shadow has it right, my philosophy!

shadow, as always a great post. PSU came from behind and beat a ranked team. I like what I have seen from their new coaching staff. As you can see, the alumni & fans haven't left the stadium. NCAA correctly took measures against them but they outdraw the U fans 2-1 on any home game.

Watched the ND - Miami games. WR Dorsett drops 2 easy TD passes & rest of the game goes in the toilet. ND passed more in the first half, run the ball in the second.

IMO both ND and the U have decent head coaches that should be around a while.

Oh,,, to all you PSU haters, U's head coach is a PSU grad guided by Joe Paterno.

ND just dominated Miami. Even Rudy somebody #33 is running rough shod all over the U. I am extremely impressed with ND's blocking TE's #85 & 80 have created creases and sealed off the ends to give ND RBs room. #85 has owned U's LB #44 with crushing blocks, driving him 5-10 yds downfield or on his butt every time.

glad you aget a kick out of my ramblings; i thought PSU was headed for a 2-12 or close to that season. it looks like they can win a few games in the big-?. nebraska has the worst, worst QB in big time college football in taylor martinez- the guy can run like crazy but can't pass to save hisself. nebraska gave up almost 60 points to ohio state- this is not the defense of mr. suh and friends a few years back. the famed "blackshirt defense" is a memory. bo pellini looks befuddled on the field. urban meyer is never befuddled and methinks the buckeyes are going to the rose bowl, if not the game for the vase. aand i don't like them even though i think urban meyer has been a great coach everywhere he has been.
