Canesfan Satisfaction Meter: Voting underway! Voting underway in latest edition of the CSM in a separate blogpost just above this oner.

1aa1canesfsuG8: NO. 14 FLORIDA STATE 33, HURRICANES 20: Canes hung with the Noles into the third quarter before faltering. Stephen Morris played but not particularly well, and UM could not muster a running game. Original post: Coach Al Golden was saying it could be a game-time decision whether his starting quarterback will be Stephen Morris, who is nursing a tender ankle, or inexperienced Ryan Williams, but by Friday it was clear Morris was doubtful and therefore Williams likely. 1aa1canesfsu2FSU is heavily favored either way although, with Morris, I'd have given Miami a great chance to beat the spread on a near-three-touchdown betting line. That's a huge head start to give a talented Canes squad at home in a rivalry game. Overall though it's very hard to imagine red-hot E.J. Manuel won't lead the Noles to the top of the scoreboard. Manuel has a fair shot at the Heisman Trophy now that WVU's Geno Smith has stumbled, and could really feather his chances in this ABC telecast. My pick was: FSU, 31-23.

Other Collball Week 8 featured state FBS games, in order:

Troy 38, FIU 37: FIU, preseason Sun Belt favorite, cascades to a 1-7 record with another heartbreak loss on a Troy rally. The Int't had a pretty decent upset shot against Troy's mediocre Trojans in a conference game. What happened to Mario Cristobal's mojo? Where da magic at!? My pickwas: Troy, 31-27.

No. 2 Florida 44, No. 7 South Carolina 11: Stomp! The Ol' Ball Coach Steve Spurrier ambling back into The Swamp always feels special, this time augmented as a marquee top-10 matchup and the collball Game of the Week nationally. Gamecocks had won past two vs. Gators but I liked Florida at home to stay unbeaten and protect the catbird seat of that No. 2 BCS ranking. Gators were healthier than they've been, especially on the O-line. My pick was: Florida, 24-20.

South Alabama 37, FAU 34: Owls on hunt for that elusive second victory and had a fair shot in this Sun Belt game at S-Bama, which had allowed 30-plus points in all five losses. My pick was: South Alabama, 27-21.

My record: This week, 4-0. Season, 29-8.

Other state FBS games: No. 16 Louisville d. South Florida, 27-25; and UCF d. Memphis, 35-17.

National Game of the Week: Gators hosting Gamecocks (see above).

Note: We're on holiday this weekend so updates here will be done with less alacrity than usual.

Hope I'm wrong, but I don't see a wide right, wide left, a miracle Devin Hester block part 2, or any Cane miracle finish we've been used to seeing. I think FSU covers and wins by 24. Here's to hoping Williams comes in and surprises everyone. If Miami wants any chance they need to score early and get the fans riled. I can remember how LOUD the OB used to get for these games. Miami needs to get off to a good start, and the Hurricanes faithful ACTUALLY need to show up for a change. If you can't sellout versus FSU that is pathetic.

WE (ALMOST) DID IT

MAKE NO MISTAKE ABOUT IT. CANE FANS BRING IT WHEN FSU COMES TO TOWN. THIS GAME WILL BE LOUD, AND FSU WILL KNOW THEY ARE IN FOR A DOG FIGHT. I WANT EVERY PLAYER WEARING A MIAMI HELMET TO KNOW THEY ARE ADDING THEIR BIT OF HISTORY TO A GREAT RIVALRY. THEY NEED TO KNOW ABOUT WALSH TO IRVIN, REED PICKING OFF BALLS, WIDE RIGHT, WIDE LEFT, DEVIN HESTER'S BLOCK, BARROW'S HIT, DAN MORGAN RUNNING AN INT OUT OF THE ENDZONE BEFORE HALF, VILMA HITTING FOOLS, SHOCKEY'S GAME WINNER, AND THE REST OF THE LEGENDS LIKE MOSS AND ANDRE JOHNSON WHO LEFT EVERYTHING THEY HAD ON THE FIELD VS THE NOLES. THE SEMINOLES ARE IN DADE COUNTY. EVERYONE FROM THE FANS TO THE MIAMI PLAYERS HAS TO COME OUT AND BRING IT TONIGHT. LET'S GO!

23 points? What a homer.
Knock 20 points off and your closer.
Try 31-3. If they are lucky.

the young Canes will be hard pressed to win the game today, no experience, not ready physically and our QB is injured..

everything will be different in two to three more years.

You can't make it loud in this stadium. It's not fan friendly. But we'll have fun trying i guess Miami has never beaten fsu here in the regular season. only in OB bowl game once. So much for home field

FZB,

10-0 means 31-0 with the points; if FSU continues making horrible mistakes they will not cover the point spread and may actually lose!!

WELL, THAT WAS QUICK!!

stephen morris doesn't fall on a fumble and FSU is gonna score and cut into that 31 points quickly. MAJOR PLAY IN THE GAME!!!

mike1,

again with benny malone going out of bounds after that terrific run that put the dolphins ahead? how about the FG attempt that gave the redskins their only score in SB #7? are you so sure that FGs are sure things in high pressure situations in hostile stadia? the vaunted defense folded and that was the game. blamimg benny malone for scoring from 20+ yards out on a really good run is bizarre. if that was the proper strategy, why didn't shula tell his players to get close and then fall down? never, ever gonna hear abpout runners not scoring with 2-3 minutes to play and the league's best defense there to protect a lead. sorry, buddy.

BAD CALL SAVES CANES!!!

instead of a 50 yard gain, FSU gets called for a phantom ofeensive PI call and saves UM from going down 17-10 after being up 10-0. stephen morris is a couple of milliseconds late on each throw and is lucky that every other pass isn't picked off against a lightning quick seminole secondary. FSU is pushing UM around up front and james wilder, jr. is better than his dady who was a real good NFL player.

319.2!!!!

shows you how bad colorado is if a guy completes 19/20 passes with 6 tds; matt barkley is okay (i will admit that he is more than a few notches above mark sanchez) but a team has got to be bad to give up a line that goes 19/20-0-6 tds, 298 yards and a 319.2 passer rating. he was lousy against stanford and in a few weeks we'll see how barkley does against the ducks. it says here he will have a cxarson palmer like game against ND, so his efforts against oregon and oregon st and the bruins will either get him the pre-ordianed trophy or deliver it to colin klein or someone else; how about teddy bridgewater, playing for an unbeaten team in a second tier conference but rolling up the stats. FSU about to break loose from UM and that fumble way back that stephen moris didn't cover changed the game. had FSU gone for the yard instead of botching a FG and the 21 poiints would be history by now. wilder,jr is really good and UM hasn't scored in over an hour and a half of real time.

CANES WILL NOT LOSE BY 22, UNLESS....

stephen morris throws two picks returned for TDs. UM may actually have a chance to win, but any turnovers and FSU will pound it in for the distancing score. thought 21 points was a bit much for a rivalry, home, conference game and it seems like taking 21 or whatever it wound up was a good move. if it holds up, the shadow's record will be 3-1 picking "live ounderdogs getting big points", with only the UM meltdown in chicago blemishing the record. i don't bet, so going on record here on the blogsite is my "action" up two units - 10% for a losing bet, so i am at 190% profit on the four picks, barring a UM meltdown in the final quarter. FSU was ripe for another NC state type result, but it don't look like the canes are up to it.

Wow, we suck the big wally.

U lose again ... badly ...

start Ur loser spin Cane fan
