Dolfan Satisfaction Meter: New poll at 4:45 p.m!: Watch for our latest DSM in separate blogpost today beginning at 4:45 p.m. sharp!
G5: DOLPHINS @ CINCINNATI: Final: The Dolphins win a close game! The Dolphins win a close game! Very nice, solid road win for Miami today over a pretty good opponent on the heel of two straight overtime defeats. Dolphins now 2-3. Rookie Ryan Tannehill was an efficient 17-for-26 for 223 yards but the story was Miami's defense dominating Cincy when it counted, led by interceptions from Randy Starks and Reshad Jones. 4Q: Reshad Jones pick with 1:22 left all but seals win for Miami! ... Break for Miami as 'Gals blow 41-yard FG try with 3 minutes left. Thought they should have gone for it on 4th and 5. ... Huge Cameron Wake sack pushes Cincy out of FG range and forces punt. ... Bad drop, Charles Clay. Hands of Clay! ... A.J. Green beats Sean Smith for 2-yard TD pass from Andy Dalton and Cincy within 17-13. Thought they might go for two but still very early in quarter. ..... 3Q: 'Gals knocking on the Dolphin door as the quarter ends. ... Carpenter long enough but just wide on 53-yard FG try. ... MIA up 17-6 with Dan Carpenter 46-yard FG. Dolphins feeling win-bound. Ouch. Was that a jinx thing to say? ... Nice 13-yard TD run by Reggie Bush set up by Randy Starks interception for a 14-6 Miami lead. (My fantasy team thanks you, Reggie. He was a last-minute start over Ben Jarvus Green-Ellis for me). ..... Half: Miami up by a point a good sign after two turnovers in otherwise even half. Cincy stopping the run pretty well and Ryan Tannehill pretty sharp means Dolphins probably will open it up offensively from here. Tanneball! ..... 2Q: Reggie Bush hobbles out of game; doesn't appear serious. ... Dolphins recover fumble but then can't convert 4th-and-inches. Plays like that lose games. ... Close call on that A.J. Green fumble overturn. Can the Dolphins ever catch a damned break!? ... Dolphins up 7-6 after mid-quarter 1-yard TD run by Daniel Thomas. A lead despite two giveaways. A good sign. ..... 1Q: More hard luck for Miami. Freakish turnover on a punt rerturn and a fumble by Jorvorskie Lane leads to two Cincy FGs and a 6-0 hole. That's no way to build a career, Lane. ... Just rolled back from Chicago. ..... Original post: Two heartbreak overtime losses in a row by Miami set the stage for this game. The first was at home, to the nemsis Stinkin' Jets. Last week came in Arizona -- despite 431 yards
by Ryan Tannehill, 253 of them to Brian Hartline, and 8 defensive sacks. (How do you put up those numbers and not win!?) Now comes another in the parade of winnable but not easily won games. I think Miami can run on Cincy. I think the Bengals can pass on Miami. A turnover, a kick return, something unexpected will happen to tip a close game. Miami is due for some luck, plainly, but the Dolphins have not proven themselves a good road team lately, or one that wins close games, so I'm playing this one safe with the pick. I don't trust this Dolphin pass defense against a good QB/receiver combo until this secondary gives us reason to. An outright win by Miami would not surprise in the least. But I still wouldn't bet on it. My Pick: Bengals, 27-24.

I think we WILL be in the game, Hopefully young Mr. Tannehill can avoid the costly turnovers ...
Our offensive line is the key (as always) and we need to be able to run the ball..
Dolphins 24 Bungles 22..

That game last night really did not pass the smell test..
If Dorsett's mama is riding around in a new mercedes this week you'll know the answer....

Mr C where are your buddies from the other S Florida newspapers picks.I have viewed their picks on this site the past two weeks.
Posted by: JMMeister | October 07, 2012 at 12:38 PM
Orange bowl-- come on man. Old fashioned ass whooping, plain & simple.
Cinci 30 Miami 13.... trading Vontae thinking Rishard Marshall was good enough(not) to start,,, now Marshall out with back problems. Dolphins relying on recently activated DB RJ Shelton & Nolan Carrol (sucks, plays scared, shy away from contact) Jimmy Wilson (toasted all season) to cover AJ Green & Company.... Hate to say it but Dalton should have a big game against Miami's DB's. Sean Smith is the only Fins DB who can cover talented WR's. Dolphins will need to get creative with the zone blitzed & disguised coverages.
1-4 gents.
Posted by: Jimbo | October 07, 2012 at 12:44 PM
Jimbo,
Trading Vontae Davis was not a mistake, the guy has been bad in Indy also and now he is out a few weeks with an ankle injury.
Remember this is a rebuilding year, yes agree that 1-4 is a very real possibility but we do a have chance to beat this team, let's hope T-Hill continues he's development.
Go dolphins !!!!!
Posted by: FZB | October 07, 2012 at 12:50 PM
gents,
rishard marshall couldn't cover me; if he's out the dolphins' secondary can only improve, no matter who they put in there- FZB, mike1, Mr. Woodcock, Jimbo,OC... ANYBODY IS BETTER THAN RISHARD MARSHALL!!
Posted by: the shadow knows | October 07, 2012 at 12:57 PM
I hate that bitch Donna Shalala. I hope you froze your ass up in the frozen tundra Shazam. And while you were shivering like a one stroke lawn mower engine with a lose spark plug I hope you were thinking about the fact that until that bitch came here we were the ones that were on the other side of a 40-3 bitch slapping. Ass hole.

FZB,
soliciting "blow jobs" from guys?

JAKE LONG GIVES UP A SACK IN THE DOLPHINS' FIRST SERIES!!!
granted he and incognito got mixed up in the assignments, but the defensive RE lines up opposite the offensive LT- the one and only JAKE LONG!! slow, non-athletic, and easily confused: what more would you want from the prime blocker for the team's QB?? GET RID OF THIS ZHLUB ASAP!!!!!!!
Posted by: the shadow knows | October 07, 2012 at 01:08 PM
YAWNNNNN..very unexciting NFL matchup.
Canes got blasted again. Program is on a bad downward spiral. It's funny to see the delUsional kids on here, think this team has any chance in the near future. "Ohhh but we are just young". Where have I heard this before? Ohhh Randy Shannon's first years anyone?
Posted by: rawpimple | October 07, 2012 at 01:12 PM
DUMBER THAN DIRT, MR. JONES:
blocking on a bouncing ball and not keeping the "head on a swivel"-taught to kids in pop warner football.the dolphins were about to get better field position from the punt than the spot where sean smith dropped a potential INT, then enter mr. jones. UGGHHHHH!!
Posted by: the shadow knows | October 07, 2012 at 01:12 PM
CLEARLY THE BENGAL BODY WAS INSIDE THE SIDELINE ON THE RECOVERY- what was philbin so excited about on the other sideline? clear as day a recovery.
so far a sack and a penalty on the offensive line; where is jonathan martin? somebody else was identified as the RT
burfict another son of the pac-?; somebody on ESPN stated, before LSU and georgia lost this weekend, that the pac-? is the most competitive conference in the country- these talking heads are ripping off my material
Posted by: the shadow knows | October 07, 2012 at 01:21 PM
REGGIE BUSH CAN CATCH IT ALSO!!!
one play after the defensive RE, playing opposite #77, corrals reggie bush in the backfield by hisself.

So fins have ball at Cindy 15 and turn it over. This doesn't sound like anything I haven,t heard for decades. Quite a team you & multitude of other owners have here Boss Kubler-Ross. Nice work Fire Island Jeff. Sad.
Posted by: r. duke | October 07, 2012 at 01:32 PM
Jimbo, ah maybe this organization needs a Night of the Long Knives type of thing....
Posted by: r. duke | October 07, 2012 at 01:49 PM
TOLD YOU SO!!!
today's herald states jake long is rated the fourth WORST run blocking tackle of 71 rated by "pro football focus" to go along with his at least one sack per game allowed. franchise this loser? give the money to #22
Posted by: the shadow knows | October 07, 2012 at 02:21 PM
Yeah shadow you are right on regarding Jake Long. A tackle that can't run block isn't a man...
Posted by: r. duke | October 07, 2012 at 02:39 PM
Hmm. Fins have more potential than I thought. Nice to realize ole duke sometimes has a little too much cynicism...
Posted by: r. duke | October 07, 2012 at 02:58 PM
Forgive me Dolphinland but go Big Blue. Now Miami meets Big Blue in SB and it's a no brainer to this long suffering Dolphins fan... fer what it's worth.
Posted by: r. duke | October 07, 2012 at 03:11 PM
Huh alot of empty seats even on Cote's Blog...
Posted by: r. duke | October 07, 2012 at 03:18 PM
up 17-6, 4th quarter starts, score closes to 17-13. Miami has ugly 3 & out, punt. Fins looking for someone to step up and lose.
Posted by: Jimbo | October 07, 2012 at 03:31 PM
r. duke,
correct-jake long isn't a man;he's a big zhlub (slob) who moves early on every play but isn't flagged. saying he is a piss poor lineman would be a compliment.
Posted by: the shadow knows | October 07, 2012 at 03:32 PM
Isn't it safe to say that Joke Long's contract will expire after this season.
IMO you let the guy walk and draft a new starting LT or look to free agency.
Also possible,,, John Jerry or Johnathan Martin could move to LT and Fins backfill on the RT side.
NO WAY to do pay Long top $ next year.
Posted by: Jimbo | October 07, 2012 at 03:39 PM
"Slip sliding away, slip sliding away," should be Fins song! Simon and Garfunkle!
Posted by: redsky | October 07, 2012 at 04:00 PM
OK. Nicely done Fins.
Posted by: r. duke | October 07, 2012 at 04:09 PM
wow, hang on for a win. OUTSTANDING!
Rashard Jones game clinching INT! Rashard made some great reads and tackles for loss today.
Nicely done.
2-3
Posted by: Jimbo | October 07, 2012 at 04:14 PM
AWESOME WIN!!!! HARD TO BELIEVE, A WIN, HOLY CRAP, A WIN!!!! There you go Mad Dog AwwwwwRightMiamiiiiiii!!!!!
Posted by: redsky | October 07, 2012 at 04:16 PM
Well now, that's more like it.
our young STUD rookie QB had a very solid game, he is improving every week, no question he is the answer at QB..Finally !!!!
told you guys that we could win the game...
Duke, How are you buddy??..
Shadow, I'm beggining to agree with you on Jake Long, let him walk 12 mil to re sign him???..we can draft a RT and move J Martin to left.
Posted by: FZB | October 07, 2012 at 04:38 PM
FZB, better after nice Dolphin win but could really cheer me up now is a NE loss!
Posted by: r. duke | October 07, 2012 at 04:49 PM
That's a tough one, duke. Although, if Manning and Co. can mange to pull out a victory at N.E. our division would almost certainly have everyone tied with a 2-3 record. No way Buffalo beats SF, and Jets beat the Texans.
Posted by: OC Dolphin | October 07, 2012 at 04:53 PM
Duke, some STD's are pesky & hard to get rid of.
Posted by: Jimbo | October 07, 2012 at 04:53 PM
What is staggering to consider is that the only team in our conference with a better record than the Dolphins and for a Wild Card spot is the team they just beat. Granted, we're only five games into it, but the entire conference has division leaders and a 11 out of 12 teams under 500*
* assuming, like I posted above, that the Bills and jets lose as Vegas predicts.
Posted by: OC Dolphin | October 07, 2012 at 05:03 PM
FZB,
when the ole shadow rails on a guy, it is for good reason. por guy can't even bend over, let alone get under a guy to block/move him. jibo in agreement and your fellow tannehill is way, way above adequate- just needs to look at others beside hartline. off for another two day holiday. be well, all my good friends, and catch up with you on tuesday night.
Posted by: the shadow knows | October 07, 2012 at 06:02 PM
Jimbo, what do you think blew up my frontal lobes...
Posted by: r. duke | October 07, 2012 at 07:48 PM
The bright side is the NE STD was never treated & once too much time has elapsed all such an STD can hope for is a dirty toilet seat in which to retire.
