STATE OF THE FRANCHISE: DOLPHINS, HEAT, MARLINS, PANTHERS: In this latest column by me, online now and shipping to today's/Wednesday's pulp editions, I offer a state-of-the-franchise report for our four major professional teams, grading and ranking them
top to bottom. We consider management, success, prognosis, everything. I thought about adding a complementary poll here but decided it would be pointless because, logically, the Heat would dominate as our best-run pro team. Instead I offer a poll on South Florida's biggest sports lightning rod, Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland, who was in the news again this week when a Dolfan confronted him, said he should "fire himself," and Ireland in turn called his critic an "asshole," later expressing regrets. There is a perception Ireland is extremely unpopular with fans. Leave it to me to find out. Vote in our poll and say why.
Poll result: Mixed, lukewarm support for Ozzie Guillen: In our previous blog poll we asked if you wanted Ozzie Guillen back as Marlins manager (you can still vote), and 49.1 percent said yes, 45.1% said no and 5.8% were unsure. Interesting. Results about as polarizing as the outspoken Guillen tends to be.
REPORT: LARRY BEINFEST TO BE REPLACED: USA Today is reporting the Marlins plan to replace president of baseball operations Larry Beinfest with assistant Dan Jennings. Beinfest has been GM or president since 2002. The move would not be a surprise. The same report indicated manager Ozzie Guillen likely would be back. No surprise there, either. Owner Jeffrey Loria tonight called the Beinfest report a "ridiculous" rumor. Which is not the same as simply denying it.
CHAD JOHNSON SPEAKS!: The former Dolphins receiver spoke last night on the 9 p.m. premiere of Showtime's Inside the NFL, and we brought you excerpts first. Highlights: 1) Johnson says, "The consequences to that altercation with my wife was me being released" -- even though coach Joe Philbin did not tell him that directly. "That was the reason. There is no need to blow smoke up my ass." 2) Johnson reveals he is taking anger-management classes, says, "Chad has to work on Chad." 3) He says he will work to win back the wife who divorced him.
DOLPHINS DRAFT PROSPECTS AT WR: Be surprised if wide receiver wasn't the Dolphins thinking right now for a No.1 draft pick in 2013. With that in mind, I note the three WRs listed on Mel Kiper's new top-25 "Big Board" are spaced apart enough that Miami, no matter how it finishes, likely would have a shot at one of them. The names to remember: Tennessee's Justin Hunter (pegged 7th overall), Cal's Keenan Allen (17th) and USC's Robert Woods (25th).
STANLEY C. PANTHER OUT OF WORK: I half expect to see Panthers mascot Stanley C. Panther on a
west Broward intersection holding a cardboard sign reading, 'Will Caper For Food.' Panthers have temporarily laid off their team mascot related to the NHL lockout threatening the season. Is there anything sadder than an out-of-work mascot? I'd imagine Stanley C. Panther must now be included as one of Mitt Romney's non-tax-paying 47 percent. I'm just saying.
ON STEVE SABOL: The NFL Films leader passed away today at age 69. NFL Films' dramatic, intimate packaging and presenting of the NFL was a big part of the league's emergence as America's favorite sport. It also was precursor to all-access shows such as HBO's Hard Knocks and Showtime's The Franchise. R.I.P. to an important figure in the history of sports and television.
ON YUNEL ESCOBAR: The Blue Jays shortstop is suspended three games for wearing an eye-black message written in Spanish (pictured) that used an anti-gay slur. He said it was meant as a
joke and "not meant to be offensive." Some suggest it's a cultural thing, that in the machismo of many Hispanics homophobic language is more accepted. I think that sounds like an insult to the majority of Hispanics who know bigotry is wrong in any language. What gets me about stuff like this is not just that Escobar might feel this way. It's that he (evidently) thought wearing an anti-gay slur on his face in a televised game would not, um, be noticed? Leaves us to wonder which is worse: Prejudice. Or outright obliviousness.
Ozzie weighs in on use of gay slur: Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen admits he is comfortable using the anti-gay slur "faggot," the word that got Escobar (see above) in trouble. Guillen once was disciplined for calling a Chicago columnist that. Yesterday he explained it as a cultural thing, saying, "In my house we call [each other] that word every 20 seconds. I've got three kids. For us it's like, 'What's up, bro?'" Ozzie lives his life unfiltered, which is fine. But Marlins ownership/management, in reviewing this season and deciding Guillen's future, must judge not just his managerial skills, but how he represents the team in the community. See Steve Rothaus' excellent Herald blog, Gay South Florida, for more on this.
Click back. Will be updating/adding to this latest blogpost...

Ireland:
The fact remains that he has been the GM and his overall success is spotty & speculative. He did have the unfortunate interview with Dez Bryant & said what he said.. IMO I thought it was a hoot & with Dez acting immature, getting in trouble well.... maybe not a bad move skipping him in the draft.
Ireland was under Parcells shadow & thumb. There were predaft reports that Parcells loved Pat White's game. IMO Ireland wouldn't have drafted White if the choice were solely his.
The Head Coach is very influential on player personnel. Sparano knew what he wanted & influenced Ireland, just as now Philbin, Sherman, Croyle are. no doubt.
I guarantee U... Philbin didn't want Davis, Marshall, Johnson on his team. DT's Langford, Merling were let go because Miami is very deep at DL & paying Odrick, Wake, Starks decent $.
bottom line is Ireland hasn't had the full range of decisions like a Ozzy Newsome. Ozzy's one of the best keeping Baltimore very good on a consistant basis.
Posted by: Jimbo | September 20, 2012 at 10:03 AM
What a surprise more offensive quotes from Ozzie can they get rid of that guy fast enough or what?
The fact that almost 50 percent of people voted to keep him in the poll is surprising lots of knucklehead fans down there I guess.
Miami will beat the Jets this weekend and folks will begin to take notice of this team.
Schlerith went on NFL live last night and picked the Dolphins to lose their next three just not seeing it.
What a tool why are the media suck Jet suckups it never ends.
Kevin Kolb isn't beating our defense and Cincy can't stop anybody.
Looking ahead folks time to start winning.
Posted by: Big Baby | September 20, 2012 at 10:11 AM
Of course you don't respond Kaz, you have nothing to say. The facts speak for themselves. Only a relative or an imbecile would argue that she's not the reason that Miami is in the tank. Which of the two are you or do you qualify for both groups? Have a nice day Kaz.

Wow, I just read your last post about Judy I want to bone her Bonner. Man are you a dumb shit. Not only does your arguments defending the troll have zero merit, but now it's been pointed out that "Bury the Bone" is only an interim president, not that it means jack shit, because what happens at Alabama has nothing to do with what happens at Miami. There's only one thing different at Miami from when it was a major college football program to where it is today, the laughing stock of the ACC, and that is that freaking bitch Donna Shalala.
Posted by: Mr. Woodcock | September 20, 2012 at 11:06 AM
Kazaam, get this through your thick skull the majority of the Canes fans didn't go to the University of Miami. Which is true of every major college football team in the country. The typical fan doesn't give a rat's ass about the University except the 11 or 12 times that the football team plays and how and who they recruit to play. We don't give a shit if the Mau Maus graduate, get arrested, or can read or write all we care about is that they go out on Saturday and kick the crap out of the team on the other side of the field. You come in here every day with this Miami 2016 project and all the dough that the troll brings in and we don't give a flying fck about that. All we football fans know is that we used to be good before she got here and now we suck. Are you really that stupid that you can't understand that fact? You can call it mojo, bollo, or blowjo, it doesn't matter, the only thing that matters is winning you over officious jack ass!
Posted by: Mr. Woodcock | September 20, 2012 at 11:20 AM
How?
Thought not.
Posted by: I am Kazaam | September 20, 2012 at 11:28 AM
Shadow, Lane Kiffin has shown himself to be a stiff everywhere that he has been head coach at. The last two years he got a free pass because SC was on probation. The boy either is a great recruiter or he's recruiting on the coattails of what Pete did at SC, but he's not doing anything with the talent on the field (Sound familiar Canes fans?). I don't see him at USC for long, especially now that it looks like UCLA has itself a good coach. It's always amazing to me how UCLA underachieves in football when except for tradition they have every single advantage over SC.
Posted by: Mr. Woodcock | September 20, 2012 at 11:38 AM
Shalala was a great recruiter who couldn't develop talent?
Posted by: I am Kazaam | September 20, 2012 at 11:40 AM
Dapper Dave, the reason that we hurl insults at you is that you're incapable of understanding what we try to say to you. Stick to mouth organs and ocarinas. The only reason we even talk to you at all is that you're a fellow Canes and Dolphs fans and that's the only reason we're giving you a pass. I might actually start pretending that I care about what you say if you ever get off your ass and send me some of the Tyson.
Posted by: Mr. Woodcock | September 20, 2012 at 11:44 AM
Dapper Dave, I better go hit the high voltage java 'cause I'm starting to think that we might actually have a shot at the Jets this Sunday. Oh heaven help me!
Posted by: Mr. Woodcock | September 20, 2012 at 11:48 AM
See what you're doing, you jack ass! Send me some of the Tyson so that I can calm down.
Posted by: Mr. Woodcock | September 20, 2012 at 11:49 AM
Kazaam, go float in your bath tub and squirt little streams of water out of your pie hole while you pretend you're a Dolphin.
Posted by: Mr. Woodcock | September 20, 2012 at 11:55 AM
Woodcock - keep being your miserable self.
Posted by: I am Kazaam | September 20, 2012 at 12:00 PM
He he, I thought you never responded to me, Kaz? I will try with all me heart to be miserable just for you sonny boy. Although I'm going to have to fake it 'cause it's another lovely day in Manhattan Beach buddy.
Posted by: Mr. Woodcock | September 20, 2012 at 12:03 PM
Mr. Woodcock,
the bruins are potentially a better squad than USC.
it has been hard form them to recruit because in the dorrel/neuheisel/and even when bob toledo got them to to the rose bowl (started two DTs against wisconsin and ron dayne who hadn't played before and you know what happened) they were just as bad as SC while oregon state, WSU and others went to pasadena- they and the trojans were real losers in the 90s and ucla lousy since cade mcknown. guys don't wanna play for bottom feeders when there is an alternative close to home. the coach pete years made it easy for SC to recruit, but if they fall apart under lane kiffin this season, methinks pat haden will consider eating his contract. he was a bastard at tennesee and is one at USC; can't stand him and don't care if oregon runs up 60 on his father's defense. UCLA is looking good winning with youngsters and now jonathan franklin is in the heisman picture; he is an intelligent and easily likeable guy running at 10 yards/carry, and nebraska's supposedly "vaunted" defense couldn't stop him. a really great player and i hope it is between himand teddy bridgewater for the trophy, with geno harris and clemson sammy in the hunt.
Posted by: the shadow knows | September 20, 2012 at 12:07 PM
I never respond to your throw away comments on Shalala.
Like I said, I have no problem with the ignorant trash sector of the worst fanbase in the country mindlessly blaming everything on Shalala without anything to back it up.
I only respond when someone with half a brain like IMAWriter tries to actually correlate things Shalala has done with the football team's performance.
Posted by: I am Kazaam | September 20, 2012 at 12:07 PM
Guys Revis has not been cleared for contact yet.
Translation= He's not playing.
More good news for the Fins.
Posted by: Big Baby | September 20, 2012 at 12:14 PM
Revis is cleared for contact, barring setback he'll play. If the Jets feel like they can use him against the likes of Hartline and Naanee that is.
Posted by: I am Kazaam | September 20, 2012 at 12:26 PM
He was cleared for practice limited drills etc but not contact unless that changed today.
He still has to be cleared by team physician and Neurologist not convinced that he is playing.
Posted by: Big Baby | September 20, 2012 at 12:31 PM
Kaz,
did you lose your girlfriend again???
http://www.miamiherald.com/2012/09/20/3011754/violent-suicidal-woman-missing.html
lol
Baby, I hope you are correct about sunday, it would be a hoot to beat those stinkin Jets.
they are probably going to stack the line and make Tannehill throw the ball, I hope the kid is up to it.
John Jerry has been a pleasant surprise..Anyone agrees?
Jimbo, nice post by you at 10:03 am...
Posted by: FZB | September 20, 2012 at 12:35 PM
Shadow,
While I've never been a west coast guy I used to enjoy those battles between USC and UCLA, it was always a great game with the winner going to the Rose Bowl, its good to see the Bruins on the way back.
Woodcock,
bro tranquilizate con mighty mouse, te va a dar algo...he he he
Posted by: FZB | September 20, 2012 at 12:39 PM
FZB I like the rapport that Tannehill and Hartline are developing these guys are making it happen I think that he will be up to it would be nice to see something out of Nanee though like let's start with a catch or two.
I think out D will be up to the challenge and running game looks good too need more of that Thomas might help.
Posted by: Big Baby | September 20, 2012 at 12:40 PM
If Jerry and Martin continue to improve this O Line could be scary good.
Pouncey is reportedly becoming a beast of a man even though that was a bad pick right Kazaam?
Are you really sold on all of those QB's taken last year?
I am not and that includes Dalton.
Posted by: Big Baby | September 20, 2012 at 12:42 PM
Shad, you and I both know the advantages that SC has, it's just a fact, in my opinion, they are the top college football program in the nation since 1960. Even through the "20 years in the wilderness" era between Robo Coach and St. Pete, their sidelines were stocked with talent like chord wood. So far Lane is proving Al Davis right for having given the kid the boot and calling him a "compulsive liar." Not winning at SC will get you sacked quicker than a NY minute by the root root crowd.
Posted by: Mr. Woodcock | September 20, 2012 at 12:43 PM
Thomas and A Armstrong are back from injury and will play sunday, I just hope we can get a running game going, I think the Jets are tough up front.
Kaz, the Ravens are in danger of starting the year 1-2, are you getting worried?..I think they have the Patriots this week, don't worry I'm pulling for you guys, Go Flacco !!!!
Posted by: FZB | September 20, 2012 at 12:44 PM
Yeah baby go Joe!
Posted by: Big Baby | September 20, 2012 at 12:45 PM
Woodcock,
You think that Pat Haden is going to get rid of Lane Kiffin after this year???..I think he gets a scholarship for another 2-3 years because of the probation deal.
The guy is a jerk, He already called out his QB Barkley in the media, I wonder if he's still happy he returned to SC.
Posted by: FZB | September 20, 2012 at 12:48 PM
Oooooooo, a few fifty cent words thrown in, nice Kaz, but you're aunt is still a loser. That's the bottom line, the one thing that regardless of how many 50 cent words you throw in that you cannot overcome. We were great before she got here and we started to suck quickly after she got here, and now we suck totally. Blow that out your pie hole while you float in your tub.
Posted by: Mr. Woodcock | September 20, 2012 at 12:53 PM
Oye brother, I would make a move on that chick. Here's a picture of Kaz's girlfriend.

David in LA- I think you should go easy with the word DESTROY. I hope as a Pats fan the Dolphins do win, but they will not destoy the Jets. These are not the Raiders your playing.
Posted by: Naples Jack | September 20, 2012 at 01:04 PM
Naples you should be hoping the Jets win they are going nowhere Miami will be a closer competitor to NE.
They will beat NY by a touchdown at least.
Posted by: Big Baby | September 20, 2012 at 01:07 PM
Kazaam, go float in your bath tub and squirt little streams of water out of your pie hole while you pretend you're a Dolphin.

chuckle, chuckle, I love it when your on your game Mr Woodcock. . . . still laughing!
Posted by: Jimbo | September 20, 2012 at 01:09 PM
Anyone know why Burnett is not practicing today?
Posted by: Big Baby | September 20, 2012 at 01:12 PM
Naples,
I did read your post yesterday on another jock that blew all his money, Vince Young got 26 mil guarantee and his broke already?..these guys just don't have any common sense.
you see what's happening with you O Line?, I've never thought I would say this, it seems the Dolphins offensive line is better than the Patriots O Line.
Brady won't last the year if they don't fix it soon, the Ravens defense has to be licking their chops, they still have of the best defenses.
Posted by: FZB | September 20, 2012 at 01:14 PM
Common Sense?
Vince Young got a 6 on the Wonderlic right?
There's a clue.
Posted by: Big Baby | September 20, 2012 at 01:24 PM
I gotta tell ya FZ, I'm rooting for Kaz's Ravens big time against the Patsys.
Posted by: Mr. Woodcock | September 20, 2012 at 01:26 PM
Now I'm day dreaming a little here but if..
We beat the stinking Jets and if
Joe Flacco and the Ravens beat the Patsies and if
The Bills lose to whoever they are playing that means
WE'LL BE IN FACKING FIRST PLACE !!!!!!!!
Ok ok I know, but stranger things have happened, right?
Posted by: FZB | September 20, 2012 at 01:33 PM
Woodcock,
I think Kaz is going to the game, maybe we should give him some "caracoles" or a "collar" or something to put the whammy on the Patsies.
Posted by: FZB | September 20, 2012 at 01:36 PM
They have FZB.
Posted by: Big Baby | September 20, 2012 at 01:36 PM

Oye FZ, the more things change the more they stay the same. I get a call last night from OC Jr. the golden boy from UCLA, asking me if I can go pick up the golden boy and the stiff of the week tonight at Long Beach Airport 'cause they don't have a ride home from the airport! Can you believe that, not only do I regularly have to provide free golf but now I have to drive Ms. Daisy as well. If it weren't for the fact that I'm the nicest guy and the biggest humanitarian on this blog I would tell the stiffer of the week to go fck himself.
Posted by: Mr. Woodcock | September 20, 2012 at 01:56 PM
Orange,
I have a lot more faith on the Dolphins beating the Jets than the Canes beating GT...
Woodcock,
you know that since OC is "renting" his old pad he is going to shack-up with you for a while so he doesn't have to go to "La Quinta" , he'll be saving a ton of "dinero"..he he
Posted by: FZB | September 20, 2012 at 02:31 PM
Second week in a row the Dolphins are going to have to buy tickets to avoid a blackout.
Miamians are the worst sports fans in the country, bar none.

These are not insults, they are the facts.
Are you aware the mental institutions all around the world are full of patients declared unstable for social lives and every one think they are right.
what differs that from the GOP.
By the way, I am not a liberal. I do not vote red, I do not vote blue. I vote red-white-blue. Since there are no politician for the red-white-blue I do not vote.

Greg:
My eye black would definitely have you pegged as an Obama loving liberal. Funny how you guys love to claim open mindedness but you judge any person with different values harshly and rigidly. Your opinion on Ozzie G as a manager is fine; he is divisive, tempermental and sometimes acts without sufficient forethought. But his statement about the use of the word "M....." in the latin culture is true! Take some time to investigate before ridiculing him. Escobar's placing it on a sign is somewhat different, but the the statement itself reads as a joke (as he stated). This time the joke is on him. Please stick to your excellent sports knowledge, and useful opinions on ATHLETICS and stay out of the political arena. We get enough of the liberal spin from your brethren at the Herald and throughout LA GRANMA (oh...I meant the press). I would bet your going to comment on Romney's 47% line again soon, make it about SPORTS!

Bro, I'm so tired of seeing and hearing that crap about Miami fans being the worst when in reality they couldn't be better fans. Why are they bad fans because they don't show up en mass to watch a horseshit game? I don't know if you've gotten out much lately but there's a hell of a lot more to do in Miami, Florida than in Miami, Ohio. When the games count Miami fans support their teams as well or better than any other fans in the country. And no one but no one celebrates a championship with more class and is more well behaved than Miami fans. You don't see us turning over cars or fighting with the cops, or setting stores on fire. Once again you're talking out of your ass.

uglyaqua..nice comeback, sooo if I'm a realist does it mean I'm neither a "positivo" or a "negativo" person?
Posted by: FZB | September 20, 2012 at 04:41 PM
FZB, realist: a person who is aware of and accepts the physical universe, events, etc., as they are; pragmatist.
You Sir do not accept this definition.
Posted by: uglyaqua | September 20, 2012 at 04:50 PM
For a 'horseshit' game?
Jets are supposed to be the Dolphins' rivals and they can't sell enough tickets to avoid a blackout. I guarantee that their fans will be louder, Dolphins have been practicing with simulated noise all week.
Miami fans are the worst in the country, in every sport. Everyone knows it.
Posted by: I am Kazaam | September 20, 2012 at 04:59 PM
Lets examine Woodcocks statement :
"Why are they bad fans because they don't show up en mass to watch a horseshit game?"
Yes, they are bad when other fans support their teams win or lose, horseshit game or not.
"I don't know if you've gotten out much lately but there's a hell of a lot more to do in Miami, Florida than in Miami, Ohio"
That excuse is getting old.
"When the games count Miami fans support their teams as well or better than any other fans in the country".
True fans support their team if the game counts or not.
"And no one but no one celebrates a championship with more class and is more well behaved than Miami fans. You don't see us turning over cars or fighting with the cops, or setting stores on fire"
With all do respect, this seems to be a daily occurence in the South Florida, just watch the nightly news.
Posted by: uglyaqua | September 20, 2012 at 05:28 PM
Lets see the youtube film of the fans rioting after the last two heat wins, the last two Marlins wins, the five Canes championships, and I won't ask you to show us film of the last two Dolphins wins because film wasn't invented that long ago. What you expect sell outs at JRS? And why in the world do you think an organization with a team that has played like horse shit for almost 2 decades would sell out? I got news for you brother, if the Dolphins were a Broadway play they would have closed down a long time ago.

FZB I know it's early but Dansby is on pace for 150 tackle season he's a good player.
Get rid of him and replace him with who?
Posted by: Big Baby | September 20, 2012 at 07:59 PM
Hey Ugly,
I wanna be a pragmatist, sooo how do I start?..Do I just get a science book and start learning about the physical laws of the universe or do I go and sign up at the first Scientology brain wash that I can find?..
Kazaam, I see you're finally coming to your senses and realize that Flacco and Henne are the same type player, they both suck.
Baby, Dansby talks too damn much and his play doesn't measure up to what he is getting paid but you could be right, this is his last year and he is playing for a new contract...I guess if we trade him we won't be able to replace him until the off season.

Woodcock,
I think uglyaqua is Kazaam's alter ego, I mean he even said that most of the time kaz is right...or maybe they are just the same?
hey kaz, did you find that crazy broad yet?
Posted by: FZB | September 20, 2012 at 08:51 PM
Uh, no. Flacco is just good enough to win it all with. Henne isn't even close.
Posted by: I am Kazaam | September 20, 2012 at 08:52 PM
well then he better show up and beat the Patsies this Sunday, I really don't wanna have to listen to Naples Jack.
Posted by: FZB | September 20, 2012 at 08:55 PM
Actually, I think FBZ is Woodcocks alter ego. BTW, Kaz is more right then both of you combined. Just my observation.

If you bark like a seal you'll get another fish, Aqua.

Kaz,
Lets be objective.....
& to quote The Godfather..."After all we are all capitalist"..
You honestly want me to spend my hard earned money on a substandard product ??
Going to a fins game is about as much money a day in the magic kingdom with my family....to watch them get there ass whoooped....would rather see mickey mouse stick it to minnie....than getting shower scened by a ross...
You must love to give your money away......
Oh yeah thats right its you constantly talking about Frodo's wife making all that $$$ for the university...
Starting to smell like a snake oil salesman if you buy what your selling about being the worst fans over a blind sheep....
Posted by: Orange Bowl 4Ever | September 20, 2012 at 11:27 PM
How can you possibly come on here constantly defending Frodo's wife about all that money she makes for the University ....then turn around & tell us that we are the worst fans ever because we dont buy into Enron??.....
DOUBLE STANDARD SIR......
Posted by: Orange Bowl 4Ever | September 20, 2012 at 11:30 PM
& as far as Flacco goes....he is Trent Dilfer 2.0...
Posted by: Orange Bowl 4Ever | September 20, 2012 at 11:34 PM
You sarcastically ask if you're a bad fan because you don't pay to watch a 'substandard' product as if the answer was obviously no.
You can't understand, because you're a terrible Miamian fan, but yes. Not going to watch your team because they're not winning makes you a bad fan.
I know tickets are expensive and I don't mean anyone in particular, I just mean the general fanbase. In Cleveland and Kansas City and Charlotte they still watch even when the team's losing.
And as far as UM goes, the terrible Miamian fans will go to the good games when Miami is winning and stay home the rest of the time. Always been that way, always will be.
The football program doesn't quite subsidize UM's other sports, the athletic program runs at a slight loss.
No one cares if you go to the games or not. Stay at home because the team you liked because they won championships isn't winning championships anymore. Miami fans are a bunch of spoiled brats.

I didn't go but I've put butts in seats for each of the Dolphins first two games.
I'm only going to the Ravens game Sunday because it's a night game and I'm rock climbing in New York this weekend.
Joe Flacco has a much stronger arm than Dilfer but I'll be wearing #12 - the only Pro Bowl Ravens quarterback, Vinny Testaverde.

Ah, excuse me Orange, but I think the actual quote was "After all we're not communists." and it was uttered by Don Barzini, but who's really keeping that close tabs on it, after all you are on a roll. Proceed.

Well said Kazaam, "In Cleveland (the mistake by the lake), Kansas City (the mistake by the prairie), and Charlotte (the mistake by the tar hills), all you have for entertainment are the Browns, the Chiefs, and something called the Panthers. Besides those 8 games a year the next 357 days of the years the jack assess living in those three dumps spend their days going to hootenannys, tractor pulls, ice barrel jumping competitions, and demolition derbies. Only a myopic nit wit like you would think to compare these three football teams and the cities in which they play to an international destination like Miami where you can get more action in one night in South Beach than you can get in 50 years in all three of the dumps that you mentioned. That sir, is why you are a short sighted twit.

Mr. Woodcock,
a movie maven!!! saw "the godfather" at its first public screening at USC in bovard auditorium; the original is without question one of the most entertaining and well-done films/movies ever. after which i read the book which is a fantastic work; if they had filmed the movie based on everything in the novel it would have been longer than "greed"!! the character who got short shifted in the movie was the ever loyal but slow witted lucha brasi, who got the knife through his hand into the bar and then the garroting. the follow-ups were cheesy- robert de niro had his dialogue looped in #2 and #3 was just bad. but the first was no "small potatoes"!!

Big Baby- Maybe in 5 years the Fins will be competing with the Pats, but right now there only rival in the AFC East is the Jets. Hatred makes a rival, and the Pats hate the Jets.
