CANESFAN SATISFACTION METER: G5: Results are certified on the latest Canesfan Satisfaction Meter, and they show 95.2 percent overall satisfaction in the wake of Saturday's 44-37 home victory over North Carolina State putting UM's season 1aa1csm12record at 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the ACC. In its fourth season, our blog's CSM polls are your invitation after every Hurricanes game to vote on your overall satisfaction with the team and season. The CSM is a continuing weekly gauge of how UM football fans are feeling. Criteria for voting is your own, but I suggest you consider the most recent game's performance and caliber of opponent, season as a whole, program's direction, and your overall degree of optimism -- all in the context of reasonable expectations. Polls never close (you can still vote), but results are certified official the morning after one full day of voting. In this case that was around 9 a.m. today/Monday.

Congrats Cane fans. Team showed a lot of heart today. Room for improvement, but a win is a win!

Golden has the young Canes going in the right direction, its only a matter of time before we can compete...

and like redsky says a win is a win...

...If we only had a D....

If only the fans showed up. 38,510. Smh welcome to Miami home of the worst sports fans in America.

FZB, Canes missed what, 3 FGs and another 3 opportunities at either TDs or FGs? But with very few seniors, it's a very young team, they're playing better than last year and are improving every week IMO. What say you?

Attendance was 38,510? Didn't look like that much from my man cave vantage point!

I'm reminiscing. It's funny (strange) that the Fins seem to attract so many more out of town fans than SoFla fans. They have fans worldwide I became a Fins fan when I was a kid in NYC. I still follow the Giants and Yankees, but I love the Dolphins, been a fan since the team started. Somehow they didn't seem as bad then as they've been the last decade. The Fins started playing in 1966, I was 13 at the time, I remember the team owners were Joe Robbie and actor/comedian Danny Thomas. It took them 5 years to get to their 1st SB in 1971, I was 18, and it seemed like a lifetime. We lost to the Cowboys. But then in 72 we had the Perfect Season and we were right back in it in 73....then the Marino years, we were still contenders.... Since then, I've grown old waiting for us to regain our dominance....hopefully we can start tomorrow!!!

I'll take the win. I don't like how our defense left players completely alone. Too many holes but we still have time to work on that. It's about time that we started throwing the ball down field like today. Noticing that our TEs aren't getting any better. With their size, if they can get their hands on the ball they could take it to the house on every play. They all are to willing to go down at the first sight of contact. That and the holes on defense are the only real things that I have a problem with but I'm still happy with the win putting the series at 8-5-1 all time against ncst.

Damn I'm exhausted. That heat was killing today. All worth it though.

one throws 8 TDs, good against anybody and one that escaped miami, probably in the heisman lead.

haven't seen the stats for georgia yet, but if they scored over 50 i am sure their rocket-armed QB had a good-to-great game. georgia is flying under the radar even at #5 and will decide their SEC fate against the gators, and it will be a good fate. georgia is good and good enough to be right there at the end.

Shadow really? 2 teams without defense play to a 70-63 score. Had it been 7-0 would anyone care? Only a 7 point difference, the high score indicates no D. That's high school JV crap. Now Morris for the U set not only a school record but an ACC record against a team with a tough D. If the U was good they would have scored 74.

one of my posts got shorted, but geno smith before today's game against a baylor team that had no defense last year, was at the top of the player of the year list, and baylor last year won won only because of robert griffin; geno smity still was terrific, improvisng on many of the long TDs that wa virginia scored.

the traditional ACC powers-va tech and ga tech- lost to nobodys today; UM will play FSU and then probably play the winner of FSU/clemson in the ACC title game if they can break UNC's hex over them. UM has no defense either, but they have mr. duke johnson and he puts them in most games just by hisself.

the best arm in america is attached to aaron murray of georgia, a most probable for the SEC championship if they defeat the gators, who they should be able to pound and also match for speed. aaron murray was 19/25 and 2 TDs, and is by far the best pro prospect in both the SEC and the country.matt barkley has a moderately strong arm and a good football head, but methinks he won't be highly effective in the pros where there is no short side of the field from which to make his long tosses.

Shadow, great post! I'm tainted, I have a boy at U of M and another at FSU. Talk about conflicts! October 20th, 2012 will be interesting, I've got tickets for 3, I'm in the middle!! FSU plays Gators, what, last game? That should be another interesting match. But FSU, currently 4, can't afford to lose any games, Gators and Canes are out of any serious contests. But individual achievements are still laudable.

redsky "... an ACC record against a team with a tough D."

NC STATE!!! Uconn, south alabama, and the citadel were their defensive lockdown games!!! what were you saying about west virginia? "high school JV cr*p"? an apt description of the football status of UConn, south alabama, and the citadel.

Shadow, any college game culminating with a score of 70-63, has NO defense! It's like JV HS. All O no D! I thought I was clear on that. No clear winner there, 7 point spread, if the score had been 7-0, no one would be talking about it! Is that what we want in the NFL? 70-63? That's a basketball score!

Blanked out!

glad you enjoyed the rather long post, but there is a lot of football ahead, with possibly two FSU/miami games in one season is awesome; if va tech can ressurect itself afeter a horrible loss to cincinatti, UM will be out of the picture. ga tech is a team whose style of play i like but they are horribly inconsistent and can't pass or stop same. paul johnson's experiment may be soon over, unless he is ona multi-year contract.

Shadow, I always enjoy your posts. I don't post often, don't feel a need to regurgitate what's been said, but every once in a while I put in my 2 cents worth. I think the state of FL, as a hole, has contributed more players to the NFL than any other state. I read an article that mentioned that U of M was #2 in the nation, 2nd to USC, it was a CA school, not sure. But between the U, FSU and U of F

Is it me or was it just a pass happy ,high scoring games saturday?, What about the kid from West Vir., 45 out of 51 669 yards 8 tds?, And Morris from the "U", 566 yards., Are you kidding me?

it was wild all over college football yesterday as the offenses are years ahead of the defenses- not just UM/NC state ort west va/baylor; texas/ok state, oregon/wsu, georgia/tenn ... it seems the only teams with any defenses are alabama and LSU and FSU; USC didn't give up a lot of points in losing to stanford, but they couldn't stop the indians from running right up the gut. SC and stanford are OK, but not in the league of the tide, tigers, and seminoles to this observer.

Still giving up 600+ yards and 40 pts. a game on average... P.U.

The best Miami Q.B yesterday wasn't Morris. It was Glennon. NC State handed U the ball 8 times and it took U til 19 seconds left to finally take the lead for good ?

Yeah, great big win... keep telling Urselves that.

ACC Football... Athletically Challenged Conference.

B.C. Sucks... Georgia Tech Sucks... NC St. Sucks

600 yrds. and 35+ pts. a game in Conference.

I suppose Middle Tennessee State had a BIG WIN in regulation, what took U OT last week at Georgia Tech to do huh ?

Try Raising the Bar above Ur shins Cane Fan when it comes to "Big" or "Great Wins".

absolutely correct, sir; the ACC is pretty weak. to me the top three are SEC, pac-?, and big 12 over the big ten for the third spot. it seems urban meyer has the buckeyes (never a favorite back on track) but the rest of them-wisconsin, michigan, nebraska, michigan state... don't seem to be top 10 material. nebraska that couldn't stop UCLA rallies with no offense and a highly overrated QB (martinez can't throw) to beat the paradigm of smash mouth football, the badgers. no faith in the big 10 and they have some really bad teams at the bottom-minnesota, illinois, northwestern, penn state.

Canes better shore up the defense quickly. For how long can our offense bail them out? Our defensive linemen have been unable to get off blocks to save your life. No push whatsoever.

They are moving in the right direction but need to take another step by the end of the season. I would say I'm very unsatisfied with the Canes fans in south Florida. I just watch the NC State game and the stadium looked empty. I think that is part of what needs to get better as much as anything. You don't know how lucky you are to cheer for them in person.

West Virginia ranked number 9 is a joke! Their Defense looks worse than Um's and Baylor? Lol..Every game that I watched that teams rush to the line to run a play and try to score so fast it's putting their Defense back on the field too quick! And to those schools I named and other no Defense teams: You are not going to get to the QB rushing 3 guys! It was LOL watching some of these teams rush only 3 guys making every QB look like a Heisman candidate...Puuuuuleeeeezzzzz...UM:Please watch the tapes and see that you were giving NC States's QB a Lunch Break every time he went back to pass!LOL!COME ONNNNNN......

My college comments from Saturday:

There's more attendance at a WNBA game than a Cane's game.

I think the NFL sent replacement refs to the Texas- Okl State game, after ruling a TD for UT instead of a fumble on the game winner.

For 30 years, I've never understood the 15 yd penalty on interference. If I was a defender and was already beaten on a long pass play, I'd foul. Such was the case taking away potential Wisconsin field position deep in Nebraska territory.

If you catch a ball with your feet in the end zone, but the ball still in the field of play about the 1/2 yard line, is it a TD? If it is, then why is it not a first down in a similar situation. Why are plays ruled in-bounds when receivers foot is in, but ball is out?

We're still using a polls & ranking system? When is that dinosaur going away? This is not gymnastics or figure skating.

Hey Soldy - let me lay a little truth on you brother.

Your existence completely negates anything bad you have to say about Miami. You're a Gators fan, yet you never post on the Gators blog or the blog of their rival Seminoles on this website.

Instead, and for years, you've studied Miami. Everything that's written about them, everything that happens to every team Miami plays. You pay attention.

I couldn't name a team the Gators play this year besides their rival, the Seminoles. Couldn't name a single player.

It's because I'm a Miami fan and I don't care about UF except for every 5 years, when we play in football.

So go ahead, keep telling Miami fans their team is 'irrelevant'. Even after a decade of mediocre results there are still thousands of 'fans' like you superglued to Miami's nuts. At the end of the day you're just a fan of some generic diploma mill state school and you're just bitter that people still pay attention to teams like Miami and Notre Dame when they aren't winning championships.
