1aa1tvfm2NEW VIDEO! Greg Cote's The View From Miami #2 * 7-19-12 * U.S. Olympic Uniforms -- This week I launched a series of one-minute videos about various stuff called The View From Miami (TVFM). Might be daily, maybe a few a week, maybe occasional, we'll see how it goes. Click on TVFM#2 for my YouTube channel to access the latest vid or to see both.

[1) It is FRIDAY, JULY 20. 2) UM dismisses senior safety Ray-Ray Armstrong. Good for Al Golden. Armstrong's bad decisions painted his own departure. 2) Ex-Dolpins LB Joey Porter is retiring as a Steeler. 3) Dez Bryant arrested for attacking his mother. Ma hasn't had this much attention since Jeff Ireland saw to it. 4) Knicks did the right thing letting Jeremy Lin go to Houston. Does Linsanity even exist anymore? 5) Join us on Twitter @gregcote]

OZZIE: TIME FOR MARLINS TO STICK THEIR "D--K IN THE DIRT": Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen displayed inventive variation in his vulgarity Wednesday night in Episode 2 of Showtime's The Franchise. 1aa1ozgAnyone who thought Oz was a one-trick pony with the F-bombs has undersold the man severely. About 25 minutes into the 30-minute segment, Guillen is in the clubhouse addressing his underperforming team as it returns from the All-Star Break, tells his players he hopes they had a nice rest and adds: "Now it's time to stick your d--k in the dirt." I re-watched the show on-demand today and re-wound that part several times to make sure that is what he said. It is. I'm as vulgar as the next guy (well, unless the next guy is Guillen) but had not heard that phrase. Is sticking one's d--k in the dirt a good thing? I consulted urbandictionary.com and discovered the phrase can be a negative condition of having been knocked to the ground, but also a reference to knocking someone out, so we'll assume Guillen meant the latter to inspire his team. It's like a Gipper speech, but R-rated. Never a dull moment with Guillen, or a moment free of !@#$%s and [bleep]s, apparently.

Marlins willing to trade Hanley, others?: Reports yesterday had the Marlins exploring trades involving third baseman Hanley Ramirez and others prior to 1aa1carlcthe July 31 deadline. USA Today had the Marlins pondering a deal with Boston to send left fielder Carl Crawford (pictured) and a prospect here for Ramirez and closer Heath Bell. FoxSports had Boston approaching Miami about dealing Crawford for either Ramirez or shortstop Jose Reyes. USA Today also floated a suggestion the club has discussed trades involving Josh Johnson, Omar Infante and Anibal Sanchez. However, ESPN's Buster Olney then Tweeted that the Crawford/Ramirez deal was "brought up briefly as concept, immediately died." A Marlins source of mine said the club is torn whether to be a buyer or seller. I wouldn't deal Reyes or Ramirez for Crawford, who turns 31 in August and has dealt with wrist and elbow issues. Interesting, though, the speculation. The Marlins distance themselves from any truth to the rumors. But where there's smoke...

DENIED LONDON, POLE DANCERS SET SIGHTS ON 2016 OLYMPICS: This is one of those stories that is at once serious and silly: A petition, fueled by the Pole Fitness Association and other advocacy groups, to get pole dancing into the Olympics. Or, as they prefer to call it: "Vertical dance." 1aa1poled 1aa1rio2016Pictured: KT Coates, a pole dance advocate from the United Kingdom who failed in efforts to get her sport into the 2012 London Games. Advocates are now taking aim at the '16 Summer Games in (a perfect city for pole dancing!) partying Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Pole dancing, though suburbanized as a fitness outlet for moms and other non-strippers, unfortunately maintains its seedier connotation associated with gentlemen's clubs, lap dances and athletes making it rain. I am picturing the first Olympic pole-dance medal ceremony. The gold medalist bends forward to receive her medal as a leering IOC official discreetly slips a $100 bill into her cleavage. Well, as discreetly one one can in an internationally televised event!

Poll result: Basketball, track, swimming win your Olympic medals: We asked in the previous blogpost what Summer Olympics sports you are most looking forward to, inviting you to select your top two from eight options (you may still vote), and the winners were basketball (gold, 28.3 percent); track and field (silver, 27.1%); and swimming (bronze, 18.8%).

DOLPHINS' YOUNG-PLAYERS RANKING: ESPN.com presents NFL "Organizational Rankings" in the category of players 25 and younger. Patriots are No. 1 overall and Dolphins are 25th -- but ahead of the Bills (29th) and Jets (30th). AFC East'ers among the Top 25 prospects are Jets WR Jeremy Kerley (13th), Patriots QB Ryan Mallett (16th) and Pats OL Marcus Cannon (19th). I might have ranked Miami higher in the U25s. To mind come the names Vontae Davis, Reshad Jones, Jared Odrick, Mike Pouncey, Sean Smith and Ryan Tannehill.

WHITE HOUSE HONORS 'GREEN' HEAT: The Heat will be among teams honored at the White House today in an event focusing on sports franchises and facilities that lead the way in recycling, energy efficiency and other green initiatives. Jackie Ventura, operations coordinator for the Heat's arena, will represent the club. [On the court, Heat developmental team fell to 2-1 in the Las Vegas Summer League in a 65-62 loss to Golden State last night. Norris Cole had 15 points].

1aa1dumervilbbMAKING FUN OF DUMBASS ATHLETES: Someone in Denver paid for the billboard pictured to poke fun (albeit gently) at Broncos defender Elvis Dumervil for his recent arrest in Miami in a road-rage incident involving a gun. It reads, "Dumervil: Sticks with the Guns that made you a Star." I see this as a promising trend. More athletes might be dissuaded from appearing on police reports if the shame included mocking billboards in the cities in which they play. Fans, make it a grass-roots movement!

1aa1gagaadLADY GAGA'S NEW PERFUME AD: What is it about celebrity that celebrities think lends itself to a signature cologne or perfume? It seems everybody in entertainment has one now. Am waiting for a Larry the Cable Guy Body Spray. I think fandom might be traversing a dark, creepy road when we not only want to be like our favorite star but also smell like them. I digress. Here is the new ad for the inevitable new Lady Gaga scent. The good news? Ladies, this perfume will have men crawling all over you. The bad news? They'll all be tiny little men with tiny little ... let's move on.

Click back. Will be adding/updating to this latest blogpost and that's a fact....

Another successful UM career---Ray Ray Armstrong. Just close down that football program. The days of rampant cheating are over and so are the Canes. What a pathetic excuse for a college football team.

Lady GaGa does seem to have a nice pair of "melones"

Hey Rawpimple..why the hate for the U ? or are you afraid of what's coming ?

RayRay getting dismissed from the U is great news, one more schoolly just opened up and by next year all of Shannon's garbage will be off the team, you should be a more little worried about that clue-less monkey you guys got in gaysville is doing.

Golden will bring the U back and your guy is in the process of taking your program down the toilet.

Crawford / Hanley..they both suck, its a wash.

Too bad I felt Ray Ray was gonna have a great year and finally live up to his potential, yet he dug his own grave. But why did the U wait so long until he entered the supplemental draft? That's cold. I feel he should have been suspended 3 or 4 games or released a month ago. I'm guessing Dion Bush was looking real good and when coaches saw he was better than RR they said "later bro". They can't say it cause Alonzo's boy will get his feelings hurt and DB might get a big head. Can't use the scholarship tho cause it's too late.

The entire athletic department should be shut down. Not just the football program. Completely irrelevant in every sport. Shalala has gotten her wish at last.

The one little soldier on her right breast seems to be enjoying himself, while those three other ones are about to explore a cavern.

Lady GaGanged - A lot of little love in a bottle

Fed Up you are a douche and an ass clown.

your statement clearly shows your superior intellect, you must be a gator fan.

welcome to the blog senor OC, we missed you.

Man, this place sucks.

check this out guys, its very cool..can't wait.

hard knocks trailer

OC,

Do the Lakers have enough to pull off the Howard trade?
I know they want him badly but the biggest issued seems to be both Howard and Bynum don't want to sign long term deals.

from the Lakers point of view is a no brainer but you guys will probably have to also trade Gasol to give more to the Magic but I think that's a lot to lose.

Why does the Boston Media control/Influence so much of the national media. Patriots are way overrated. The 2 guys they have ranked don't even play. It's OK,BB deserves the respect. Also who wants Crawford? The sox don't have nothing to offer the marlins. We just signed Reyes we already want to trade him?

Ray ray didn't fit what is going on in coral gables. The U will be better and stronger this year. RRA just doesn't get it. Physically gifted, Mentally Retarded.

Lady GaGa looks good as long as u don't have to see her face. Name fits

are you kidding? linsanity is still very strong in ny. maybe not in miami especially b/c the asian community is small, but it is still going on in ny

Sorry bud, social media doesn't agree with you, face for radio, voice for print.

I'm sorry for Ray Ray, I hope his example helps steer kids the right way in the future, his crimes were 100% the result of the Twitter age, if you check his feed he posted anything and everything he did. Hope he's eligible to try out for an NFL team this year, he sure has the talent to make it.

Tracy Howard's a nice silver lining.

Ray being suspended takes away one of my picks for next year. I was hoping Fins would've been able to draft Ray in the 2nd or 3rd. Yes, he would've went that high or higher next year depending on his season. Physically He's a top 10 pick.

Lin Who? The Chinese Joe Johnson

UM has a Couple FR ready to make an Impact this Season.

Hey Rawpimple, the only thing more pathetic than what you posted about the U is a grown ass man calling himself Rawpimple. You sir are a 24 karat gold plated jack ass.

FZB,

Howard is a physical specimen, a great talent, no doubt. Then there's his own perceived importance, his jocular arrogance. Dude generally goes around displaying an attitude suggesting that the world revolves around him. Is that deserving?

Steven A. Smith has pretty much dissected Howard's case. That he, Howard, would rather go to bumb-f*** Iowa to carve out a new winning tradition than to build on an established one (Lakes, Celtics, etc.). To me, this shows that Howard lacks that winning gene that so many greats were blessed with. That group of athletes who were willing to subjugate their game for the better of the team. LeBron James being the most recent and accomplished example.

I can guarantee you that most Laker fans would not welcome him is they knew that he entered the team while not not being fully committed. Beyond that, and as I've said before, Shaq has soured many of us Laker fans from ever supporting yet another big man incapable of making a damn free throw.

Howard. Either get excited to play with and add to a winning tradition, or feel free to go your merry own way and dissolve into irrelevance.

Pole dancing? You re kidding right?????????Ummmmmmmmmmm........just in keeping with the supposed TRADITION of the Olympics..........and when they started..............they didn t have metal /metal poles back then.It s not exactly 1 of the prime events for centuries past.Ha.ha.Next thing ya know is Joey what s his name will want to petition for an Olympic /Worldwide hot dog-eating EVENT.Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Pole Dancing? I have never heard of a bigger disgrace.

As Dashi would say, BB cant scout talent and coach at the same time. He has no feel for picking players. Now its the Boston media that is responsible for the Pats being overrated. These 2 guys they mentioned are not the only guys under 25 on the team. These 2 were steals in the draft. they have 3-4 starters under 25. If you knew anything about ESPN you would know there is no love lost between them and BB.

"BB can't Scout(Talent or No Talent) and Coach at the Same Time", At least Not with the Same Effort for Both.

Overrated, OverHyped. Has Mallet played a down in the NFL? They have 1 good player under 25 Gronk.

2008 draft NE 3rd rd, Kevin O'Connell QB?

NE 08 Draft? 7 picks, Mayo is the only thing to show for it. Mayo is the best 1st rd pick they have had in the last 4-5 years.

NE 09 Draft? 12 picks only good pick is OL S.Volmer

NE 10 Draft? Another 12 pick Draft. A little better luck 1 great Player(Gronk), 1 Good Player(Hernandez), and a couple Average LB's(JC and BS)

NE 11 Draft? 9 picks, All Question Marks. What Makes Mallett different from O'Donnell? That he's made it thru a Pre-Season?

NE 12 Draft? 7 Picks, If history Serves us right only the LB will be any good. Hightower was a Good Pick, Specially with Mayo on the team. Spikes will not start over Hightower. By Mid-Season DH will start.

So that's 5 drafts 47 picks and they only really drafted 5-6 Players. 2 Really Good ones. Gronk and Mayo That's about it.

Patrick Chung is good but that's mostly spot on Dashi.

McCourty had the sophomore slump who knows where his career is going.

If you are drafting even decently you shouldn't have to pull guys out of mothballs during the season and playoffs with all of the picks they have had.

That said they are still the favorite and we never win so ok but...

I see another weak defensive team but honestly what they have a WR/ TE is scary so the key to beating NE again will be stopping their offense.

re: ray ray

the guy who led one of the more amazing comebacks as a qb for seminole against northwestern hooked me that night. making him into a safety at UM instead of letting him compete for #12's position struck me as strange- he had a stronger arm than jacorry harris and deserved a chance, but i guess they promised the harris family that jacorry was gonna come in and take over and stick for four years, a very mediocre four years. at least he can say that he was able to tweet and text after three years in coral gables. a guy with great abilities that never got it together between the ears- mentioning meeting with boosters in the electronic media after being suspended in the huge UM booster scandal. i guess if the boosters are gonna give, the players are gonna take. i really thought ray ray armstrong would become another one of UM's greats- guess again chester.

dashi, Naples Jack gives a better arguement. NE's team is deep & strong. NE, Pitt seem to always draft 20th or worse & achieve to gather extra future picks. Miami's Ireland has done better when Parcells left. Pitt & NE never overpay to retain their veterans. Stillers & Pats will let a Pro Bowl player go if they are demanding too much $. Pitt in particular seems to have a smooth transition when starting younger players because they draft as well as anyone in the league.

Cowher didn't come to Miami because Ross wouldn't part with Ireland & Cowher insisted in bringing in a new GM.

We don't need Cowher totally overrated coach what he had Kordell freaking Stewart as his qb right?

No thanks I'll take the X' s and O's guy any day.

Jimbo I agree as an Organization Pitt and NE are Above Miami Right Now. The Fins do have Tradition, NE finally had it's first Dynasty.

What I'm saying is the Draft. Booty Bandit Sucks at drafting. Specially since Pioli left. 08-Now

Mallett is just hype right now. Picture an Andy Reid QB(WCO). It's the System(NE runs a Unique System). Brady has become great in the System because he's ran it a Million Times. Yes or No? Put Brady in any other system will he still succeed?

I'm Not Saying Ireland is the Greatest, but he is doing his job Overall. Now if Jeff can't win with this coach he's gone. Just give the guy a chance to prove himself. He's built a pretty good team Overall. Yes, The QB thing? Henne is better than Mallett. Statistically, What has Mallet Done?

Jeff has done an OK job Overall. Next Year, We shouldn't have to draft a QB or an OTackle, The D is Pretty much Set Except for Safety's. The Fins will have a bunch more cap space next year. Maybe get 1 or 2 Big FA's.

This year ownership doesn't want to say(admit) it cause we all want to win a SB, but anything above .500 will be a plus. T-Reach's development as QB in the Second-Half of the Season is also a Major Part of this Seasons Outlook.

Will we See T-Sizzle or T-Gabbert? Or will the Fins be good Enough That DG or M&M can lead it for a Season?

If the Fins go Above .500 this Year that Proves how Mediocre TS was. This is Almost last years team w/o Henne or Marsha.

Cote gives too much personal information in his comments about Lady GaGA perfume. Somethings are better left unsaid...but hey that never stopped you did it Cote?

Do we really need this year to tell us how mediocre Sparano was?

Let's just call him bad right now.

The days of calling Brady a system QB are long over that's loser talk now time to move on.

Ching is that borderline 6th guy. To me I consider him Average. He's More Clemons than R.Jones.

* any Andy reid QB

Brady was a System QB, He just Mastered the System.

Can Brady run any other Offense? Is he Versatile?

No, Tom is a One Trick Pony. That it's a really nice trick Yes.

dashi, both Brady & Bellicheck's careers were made off each other. The stars aligned & the rest is history. Brady is smart, athletic enough and has benefitted from great coaching/playcalling despite having average NFL receivers most of his career. I give credit where it is due along with me being a diehard Fins fan. Don't like sharing love with a despised divisional foe.

Get real Chung is better than both and he starts 6th guy he's not c'mon man you're better than that.

Naples Jack , don't start with that Beli-cheat shit again, the man is a GREAT coach, not so good as a personnel guy, he plays the numbers game, trades down and has a bunch of picks every year.

He is bound to hit on a few players, he is the reincarnation of Shula, great at coaching and bad talent evaluator, jut my opinion.

Cote, I saw your "video" and it scared the shit out of me, don't do it again.

Like Jimbo says, Ireland has done a much better job since Parcell's gone, you all know how I have defended the guy ( Kaz and Tom still hate me because of that ) but the Dolphins need to show improvement this year, I think we will improved since our coaching will be much better, I'm optimistic it will happen.

I was listening to Omar Kelly this morning and he mentioned something I had not considered, we have a bunch of players in the last year of their contracts, they are playing for a new contract which means they'll be hungry, I still say between 8-10 wins.

here's my early prediction for the WR position.

hartline
Best
8-5
Gates
Wallace
Pruit

and I think there is a possibility that Best may get traded.

FZB here's mine

Bess
Hartline
Wallace
Nanee
Johnson
?

The 6th best player NE has drafted. Chung is a high 2nd rd pick. The fin's safety's are mid-low rd picks. What about the CB's? NE has drafted more and gotten less.

Brady and Athlete don't belong in the same sentence. He's a smart guy that developed into a great Qb.

Tom Brady is no more an athlete than Ken Dorsey is. Don't let me show U Brady's 40 which is slower than John Jerry Running backwards.

Baby,

I don't think the Dolphins are going to give up on Gates after just one year specially since he didn't have an off season due to the NFL lock-out, the guy has a lot of talent but is raw.

Nanee is a vet and has potential but I would rather keep the young guy, you could be right but maybe they decide to keep just one vet and it will be between 8-5 and Nanee.

its great to be talking football again.

Jimbo, Russian tanks and Jimi is a strange combination.

going back to basketball for a moment.

I really don't want to see D Howard going to the Laker's specially if they are able to keep P Gasol, now that would be a scary ass team.

Howard,Gasol,Nash and Kobe on the floor together?..shit

Might happen, bro.

I don't know where that kid Howard is from but he's nuts if he doesn't want to play here in LA. With the kind of dough he makes living here is a wet dream.

Yeah, but no bench. U need at least 5-8 guys that can play in the NBA. Don't get me wrong they will have a great team, but can MB coach them?

Wr's

Bess
Hartline
8-5
Wallace
Gates

LN was brought in before Chad, during the 1st part of FA. When Jeff was saying we are not done getting a QB or WR.

The way I see it the Fins only really had 2 spots to fill on the Wr. Bess, Hartline and Gates all have a spot this yr. Wallace and Moore are battling the 50 rookies Ireland brought in for 1 spot, The acorn spot. Chad and Nanee are battling for the other spot. U know the Veteran Leadership/hope he can still play Spot.

Yes, The Fin's need another Starter at WR. Bess is a Great Slot WR. Hartline isn't dynamic enough to be a #1. Good Complimentary Pieces, but the Fins lack a Consistent Playmaker right Now. Can 8-5 regain his form? Can Wallace, Gates or Moore step up?

Big Baby - you wanted the Xs and Os guy? Which one was that? You can't be talking about the career offensive line coach who's never designed or called an offense at any level?

I think Philbin is organized and competent and could be a fine head coach but everyone who's saying he's a 'quarterback guru' or that he'll be installing 'his' west coast offense is FZB-level delusional.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLd9MZYQwy0

Hey Kaz, did you go to the Country Club that I told you about for the all you can eat buffet in Cairns?

Woodcock,

Howard is from Atlanta, maybe the water they drink there makes them stupid.

No, I had a full dance card every night I was in Cairns, I'm pretty sure I passed it driving out of town to Daintree though.

I'm on an island north of Brisbane now, about to start another day of sampling.

Did Kaz just called me "Loco" ?

I don't think I ever said he will be installing his "own" WCO, but the Dolphins will be a WCO team this year, Sherman learned it from Holgrem who learned it from Walsh.

Philbin is better that Sparano for sure, I think he is going to be just fine.

ps-Kaz,underwater sex is the shit, you should try it.

Philbin has been offensive coordinator at some colleges during his career.

He was offensive coordinator at Green Bay I don't care if he didn't call the plays he's more of an offensive X's and O's guy than probably Cowher or Jeff Fisher for that matter.

He can't possibly be worse than Sparano and Aaron Rodgers likes him so let's try a new approach maybe we hit gold with this guy.

Players like his demeanor so far a good sign.

Parcells saddled us with a bad coach it's a new day and a new direction let's give the guy a chance.

And Boston just signed Courtney Lee making them easily the second best team in the East not 4th or 5th or whatever absurd number you had them ranked at recently Kazaam.

They have had some great offseason signings they are a better team than last year.

Haha, 'some colleges' Big Baby? Any reason you didn't share those colleges with the rest of the class?

Allegheny College, NorthEASTERN, and Harvard. OC and line coach at each spot.

I've never ranked Boston for next season, just said Knicks are #2 until Rose is fixed. You've got the 'green' complex again.

FZB - I was an undergrad at UM with a wakeboard boat, yo se.

The one thing you're forgetting about Boston is that they're going to have to deal with the chemistry issues when their new 'Big Two' take all the star power and endorsements away from Rondo, Garnett, and Pierce.

ESPM: The agent for Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard refuted reports that his client has decided he will sign an extension with the Los Angeles Lakers -- if traded to them.

Memo to "Not So Superman"...Go ahead, test all you want, buddy. Go see what you can accomplish in Cleveland, Toronto, Washington, et al. This Laker fan would rather have a wussy 58 year old Ron Howard than a quarter committed Dwight Howard taking up precious locker space.

Dwight, you're right dissing the likes of the Lakes. One either sees the bigger picture or they don't.

Well said.

Hey Kaz, I'm really happy for you it sounds like you're having a great trip. Swimming in the Coral Sea every day does not suck.

i usually agree with you kaz, but the knicks at #2 in the east? you're out of your mind.
saw an amazing lecture tonight at the grammy museum here in LA given by ken scott, engineer for the beatles, early pink floyd, harry nilsson, elton john, and bowie's hunky dory and ziggy stardust.
an informative and amazing night. just wish they knew how to read music..

Tell the Lakers to shove it Dwight.

Just do it soon this whole thing is tiring for everyone.

Bynum is holding it up by not agreeing to a deal with Orlando.

Looks like D Howard hurt OC's feelings..

don't worry OC, he'll get traded to the Laker's and everyone will be back hating on you guys.

all you left coaster's posting in the wee hrs?..man, by the time 10;30 pm hits I'm already looking for my 'almoada', that would be my pillow for you americanos.

David in lala, I wish I could have attended that lecture brother, The Beatle's, the Floyd ?..It don't get any better that that, that guy was in the middle of the action when rock history was being made.

quite a few years ago I was good friends with a guy that was a close friend of Robert Plant ( of Zep ) who was living in miami beach at the time and one day he asked me to go with him to his house which I was happy to do and got to meet him for about five minutes, nice guy.

that was the closest I've ever been to rock royalty.

PreSnapRead.com continues their daily preseason college football ranking roll call to #1.

Today, they ranked FIU at #50 in the nation.
Last month, they ranked UM at #77 in the nation.

Last week, as Greg Cote pointed out, BleacherReport.com ranked UM at #43, FIU at #47.

The rise that FIU has demonstrated in the last five years represents the solid foundation that will continue to lead the program onwards and upwards.

^^ Who gives a Flying F@ck about FIU. Those rankings don't mean Squat.

The only rankings that matters to real College Football Are The AP Poll and Coaches Poll. If u Are Under the Top 25 ur ranking doesn't matter. Even the Canes. Canes Fans start looking at Rankings once we are in the Top 25. Some of Us don't even care about the Rankings until we hit the Top 10.

Propaganda, Let me Guess U like the Pretty Colors of that ranking that's why it's rated higher to U.

The Consensus Goes Off the Top 25 and Pre-Season Rankings don't matter.

To Use Nascar as an Example, Whoever wins the Pole Doesn't Usually Win the Race.

It doesn't matter how U start it's how U finish.

1000's of Way 2 say it.

The Majority of Us Fans In/From Miami Could Care Less about FIU. Unless U went to FIU.

dashi don't you get it? the hatred has fueled FIU's rise.

haters gonna hate.

Dave, did they pull the plug once he started talking about the Beatles?

Oye Quijote,

suelta la marijuana...FIU has had a nice rise but they will never be on the same level as the U or the big boys until they join a good conference.

I love Mario but he probably won't stay there for too long and then what the hell are you guys going to do.

Marlin's lost another one..not good.

Kaz, the Knicks # two in the east ?..No way amigo.

Heat
Celtics
Pacers
Knicks ( if Rose is out )
Bulls

that would be my top 5

Wouldn't it be funny if the Cavaliers facilitate the Howard trade to the Laker's after all the shit that wacko Gilbert said when LeBron left?..Let us hope that Bynum refuses to sign an extension , sorry OC.

Don't ever combine the U and big boys in the same sentence. Not after ten years of mediocrity.

(the real) david in los angeles,

the WSJ had a nice article about the writing and production of "you've lost that lovin' feeling", the most played song in radio history, probably with a big bump from being featured in "top gun". an all hebe writing team of phil spector (didn't need a toupee then), cynthia weil and barry mann.

real dave,

in those days of the famous brill building, there were also gerry goffin/carol king and jeff barry/ellie greenwich, songwriting teams of spouses that cranked out some of rock'n'roll's greatest songs with an occasional foray onto the charts- carol king's "it might as well rain until september", and ellie greenwich performing with husband as the raindrops and producing on of my favorite all-time records- "he's the kind of boy you can't forget". all hebes: i don't know if they could read music, but they could sure make it!! hit after hit after hit for this trio of husnabd and wife pairs. it's a cryin' shame that the so called "oldies" stations don't play their stuff but play "respect" (the inferior aretha version when compared to the original by otis redding) all day and all night. "happy together" (gordon -bonner, also MOT) is a nice song, but five times a day every day is a bit much.

The shadow's post excites me.

Let me get this strait Dashi, so you think Ireland is doing a great job? Who the hell has he drafted that has you that impressed? Last year you were 6-10, right. Oh yea, that was all the fault of the coaching. He could not get a good coach to even interview for the job. He has so much going for himself, Payton would not even talk to him. What FA has he signed that has you excited? Who the hell even wants to come to Miami? If he is such a good GM, according to you, who did they draft in the last 2yrs in RDS 1-2 that has anybody in the AFC worried?

So Bess is a great slot receiver? No Dashi, Welker is a great slot receiver, Bess is serviceble, nothing more. As for Mallett, he was a steal in RD 3. No shit Dashi, Mallett did not play last year!!! Duh, I wonder why.

Naples jack,

we love wes welker and couldn't believe when the dolphins sent him north, but the "great slot receiver" dropped the Super Bowl, basically, this past go-round. a major glitch on a very good career
