Who is "face" of Miami Marlins? Vote now (with poll); plus Panthers' momentous day, Kentucky reigns, uh-oh Heat, WrestleMania, Seinfeld, atheism & more

[1) It is Tuesday, April 3. Our yay-or-nay poll on WWE professional wrestling still welcomes your votes in the blogpost directly below this. 2) Ryan Leaf was arrested on burglary and drug possession charges in Montana. Headline: 'Draft Bust Busted.' 3) Join us on Twitter @gregcote.

DOLPHINS ACQUIRE PEYTON MANNING FROM BRONCOS FOR TWO FIRST-ROUND PICKS!: OK that headline was my token April Fool's joke from Sunday. Obligation met. Moving on now...

THE "FACE" OF THE MIAMI MARLINS IS...: ESPN named the "face" of every MLB franchise and for the 1aa1face1 1aa1faceMarlins it was manager Ozzie Guillen. ("Sounds like a poll!," I thought to myself. The timing is right, with the Marlins hosting the Yankees Sunday and again last night at the new ballpark prior to Wednesday's historic Opening Day). I can see the choice of Guillen but for me the current face of the franchise probably is Hanley Ramirez. How about for you? Use your own definition of what the "face of a franchise" even means. Is it always the biggest star? Is it the person who best represents the team? Is longevity a factor? For me it is the person who comes to mind first when you think "Marlins." And for me the face of a franchise demands a national perspective, not just local. What would a baseball fan in New York or California say? Then again I'm more interested in what Marlins fans think. The list is alphabetical, and apologies for initially having "Mike" Stanton instead of Giancarlo. Old habits, ya know? Vote and say why.

Click on Play Ball, Already for my latest column, off Sunday's Marlins-Yankees game.

MOMENTOUS DAY LOOMS FOR PANTHERS: This could be it. Tonight's home game against Winnipeg could find the Panthers clinching an NHL playoff spot after an 10-season drought, finally ending the long suffering of local hockey fans. Florida clinches -- and wins its first division title ever -- by winning tonight. Florida also would clinch if Buffalo lost, or if the Cats and Sabres boht earn only one standings point. Panthers' presumptive first-round playoff opponent looks like the New Jersey Devils. Toughdraw. Whatever. Playoffs! We've missed you Lord Stanley.

WRESTLEMANIA XVIII: CAN YOU SMELL WHAT THE ROCK IS COOKIN'?!: The Rock beat John Cena 1aa1dolwrestlein Sunday night's featured Wrestlemania match at Dolphins stadium. Imagine that? The local hometown hero winning in an upset? FLABBERGASTING! Wrestling: It keeps surpring you, doesn't it? WWE filled the stadium. I kid pro wrestling; not a huge fan. But I respect the business model and how the sport constantly evolves and stays fresh. The packaging and marketing are spot-on.

SPECIAL K: KENTUCKY BEATS KANSAS IN NCAA FINAL: Can anybody stop Kentucky? Since you asked ... no. As coach John Calipari's nearly NBA-ready Cats proved again last night. The 67-59 margin over Kansas suggested a reasonably close game but it didn't feel that way. Felt like Kentcuky was in control throughout. I had Kentucky winning it all in my pool but was long-eliminated from the money pot so found myself rooting for underdog Kansas. That was the team of juniors and seniors against the one-and-done crowd from Kentucky. Credit where it's due, though. Youth was served.

1aa1beach2 1aa1beach1BIKINIS NOW OPTIONAL IN BEACH VOLLEYBALL: Beginning this summer the Olympics will make bikinis optional in women's beach volleyball. I got excited when I heard that because I thought it would be, like, a clothing-optional beach or something. Instead it means women can now dress more modestly in shorts and sleeved tops if they wish. I find this an outrage! A travesty!! Television ratings will plummet as a once-cheeky, titillating sport (yes I can say that in a blog) dresses up, tones down and becomes just another competition. The operative word here is "barely." That word used to describe why most men watched. Covered up, the word will describe most men's interest level.

1aa1mariasharapovaSHARAPOVA THE SHRIEKER LOSES, DJOKOVIC WINS: Maria "Shriekin'" Sharapova was favored but error-prone and lost Saturday to Agnieszka Radwanska in the women's tennis final down on Key Biscayne. Her loud grunt-squeals on every shot are annoying but when you play that well (except not this time) and look that good (see photo), such idiosyncracies are indulged. Novak Djokovic beat Andy Murray as expected Sunday in the largely grunt-squeal-shriek-free men's final.

DWYANE WADE'S NEPHEW SHOT: A nephew of Dwyane Wade, nine years younger, was among six young men shot (one fatally) outside a store on Chicago's South Side late Thursday. Click here for the story. Wade said he expects his relative to recover and that he played with a "heavy heart" in last night's win in Toronto. Just days ago Heat players took a photo wearing hoodies in support of Trayvon Martin, the unarmed Florida teen killed by a neighborhood-watch guard. Now, for Wade, the gun violence that his foundation works to fight has hit closer to home.

Heat's uh-oh moment in Boston: The week needn't wait for Wednesday's visit by Oklahama City for its drama. Sunday's blowout loss at Boston found the Celtics hot, and a very possible first-round playoff opponent for Miami and a tough draw. Miami was anything but hot. Never I thought I'd see the Big 3 Heat score only 72 points. Celts are creaky-old but still find ways to win. Oprah had her a-ha moment. The Heat (on the road at least) keep giving us uh-oh moments.

1aa1atheistsHOW WOULD GOD FEEL ABOUT ATHEISTS?: Saw a thought-provoking bumper sticker today that declared, 'God Doesn't Believe In Atheists.' Now I'm no expert on theology, but I am led to think a God who is all about forgiveness would hold no animus against (and therefore, in effect, believe in) His non-believers.

MINI-REVIEW: JERRY SEINFELD LIVE: Saw Jerry Seinfeld's stand-up act at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts the other night. (Because when your wife buys two tickets, you don't complain about missing the NCAA basketball semifinals on TV. You say, "Thanks, dear.") I'm a fan of his but not one of those worshipping types who still watches Seinfeld re-runs for the 34th time and laughs all over again. Anyway, I thought his show was great. I mean great. Nothing ground-breaking, just observational humor about everyday stuff. (A schtick about nothing...) No jokes would even be LOL in print. It's all timing and delivery with this guy, and he's a master. Audience howling. Not a single reference to his long-running, iconic, eponymous sitcom, but no matter. Terrific performance.

THE LIST: THE FLORIDA DERBY: In honor of Saturday's 61st running of the Florida Derby at Gulfstream -- a Take Charge indy upset over favored Union Rags -- here are the 12 Fla-Derby winners who went on to win the Kentucky Derby:

Year   Horse

2008   Big Brown

Miami marlins, looking forward to the start of the season..Not follow baseball like I used to but the Marlins should be competitive this year.

Voted for Giancarlo Stanton ( Cote, get the name right )

NCAA basketball...Don't care

Hope D wade's nephew is ok, the violence in this country is just getting out of hand.

Seinfeld is the shit, one of the best shows ever.

when does football starts again ?

Giancarlo Stanton will be the face of the franchise if he has a great season, only then will he surpass Hanley as face of the Marlins in my opinion.

Found this rather obscure clip concerning personalities from the "72" Dolphins. Watch for the Shula joke at the 4:05 mark.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCMItel7GNo

Giancarlo!
Shrieking tennis players are unbearable.
God actually prefers atheists (more honest and not quite so greedy).

Yeah, and Agnieszka Radwanska won in 2 sets taking the $720K check and beating the beautiful media favorite. Wish I was there to see it in person; watched it on TV here. Didn't realize those tennis events in Miami attract such a huge audience.

Radwanska has been good but never good enough to win a title. But now has finally won two tournaments.

The Lipton (or whatever it is now) is one of the best sporting events in Miami, I've been going since I was a kid, I'll never forget the back to back Agassi-Sampras showdowns in the '90s.

Traffic is a bitch all week getting to and from the Key but it's worth it.

OC, you need to come up with an invention to pitch to the "Sharks" on Shark Tank. Maybe you can come up with a Ouija Board that actually works........Don't hold your breath, I can hear five "I'm out!" in succession as soon as you walk in through the double doors. In the Cuban version of the show (Cubiche not Mark), after they gave your idea the boot the sky would fill with eggs and tomatoes as you were given a twenty gun salute bum's rush out the front door.

Tennis, Kazaam? Really, tennis, what's next Kazaam, Polo, Criquet, Net Ball? Jeeez!

Atheists are offensive human beings.

Kazaam,

You should follow a man's game...Dominos, I can take you to Domino park in little Havana and show you around...Tennis is for wimps unless you go there strictly to see the girls assess and tatas then is ok.

By the way you never answered my cry for help for my homework, ( previous blog ) It's very disappointing.

Esteemed Greg,

what, no gratuitous naughtiness? Sharapova doesn't count. Not really.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJp9ecTjBGQ

nothing wrong with enjoying a variety of sports from time to time.

it's called the Sony Ericcson now. 3 years ago, Venus (or was it Serena..I think Serena) made a promotional visit to South Beach. climbed through a sun roof on top of a car and hit balls back & forth between cars with some tennis player guy. while 1000's lined Ocean Dr. Now Radwanska beat one of them.

Why does it hurt when I pee?

NORTHERN DANCER!!!!

now there was a racehorse who turned out to be the most influential stallion in the last 60 years; for all of his exceedingly fast races and track records, spectacular bid had crummy action and i don't think he produced a foal of any repute. the 61 derby won by the longshot carry back was the first race i ever watched on tv, but he lost the belmont to sherluck and also disappeared as a stallion. swale was a really nice horse who won the derby and belmont but died the following week. have always loved horse racing but the sport is in real trouble due to year-round racing and the monstrosity called the breeders' cup that destroyed many of racing's great traditional end of the year races because the top horses skipped these to go for the big bucks.

Did someone say my name????

Jeff Ireland and Stephen Ross are making all the right moves. The combination of Matt Moore and David Garrard at QB will overwhelm Miami opponents. Who needs Brandon Marshall when you have QBs like Moore and Garrard? The SB is within Miami's reach this year thanks to the work of Ireland and Ross.

I don't know who the face of the Miami Marlins is....don't care either. But the face of the Miami Dolphins is...

http://cdn.wl.uproxx.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Occupy-Miami.jpg

ozzie is the face of the Marlins..an ugly , foul mouthed, uneducated immigrant, spewing unintelligible gibberish. He is Miami and mimics the population well.

Tom,

Your new name starting today shall be Moriarty...It fits you perfectly.

OKC is a joy to watch.

Julio! At least Ozzie is a legal immigrant!

Weeden is better than Tannehill and Osweiler. I don't care about his age, he doesn't need 2 or 3 years to mature. Plus he has bragging rights, he's the only QB to beat both Luck and RG3! Other than that, I see the same old caterwauling is going on this blog!

Dr. McCoy why is there blood in my stool?

MIAMI HEAT ALL THE WAY!!!!!!

just got done listening (still haven't watched a minute of NBA "action" this season) to the heat get plastered by a combination of medicare cases (paul pierce and kevin garnett) and journeymen (brandon bass) plus one great young player in rajon rondo. another couple of batterings on the road against playoff teams and it will be "riley to the rescue".

Yup that was some beatdown of the Heat.

Big three ain't done yet.

Hope the shadow knows that.

The face of the Marlins SHOULD be Cespedes, but the Art Dealer and his latent nephew channeled their inner Jeff Fireland and screwed the pooch on that one.

The HEAT need to win, the Marlins nned to win, so do the Panthers! But most of all the Dolphins need to win!!!!

I hadn't checked NBA standings in over 2 months and now see the Heat's record. Pretty disappointing for a contrived dream team. Oh well. Nice try.

Ross is getting up there in the years; you'd think he'd have some urgency to trying to get a title. He should've never gotten into this business because all he's doing is alienating himself from fans.

Why watch beach volleyball..watch the real thing..world league; and the often stunning cheerleaders some of the countries provide.

Does Sharapova shriek like that in the bedroom?

KU vs UK

Not joking here..

Shatner's comedy tour is actually very good. At first, I thought no way..and his prices are insane. But it's good.

Not much of a Seinfeld fan; never was. But there's a "Benny Hill" marathon going on right and last night the original "Bob Newhart" show was on all night.. Now those guys were funny.

and Suzanne Pleshette was quite the stunner in her youth. wow

http://www.moviespad.com/photos/suzanne-pleshette-poster-a5fa3.jpg

http://thedaleygator.files.wordpress.com/2010/05/suzanne20pleshette.jpg

man, what's going on these days. now Giorgio Chinaglia at 65. amazing NASL scorer in the Pele days.

Ok,boys. Is it me or is there a guy on the Baylor "womans" hoops team?

Ru Paul

Hey sis waz up? You raise in interesting question. I'm into democracy so let's let people decide for themselves.

Buenos dias guys,

He is an interesting read by Charley Casserly of the NFL network about Tannehill.

http://www.nfl.com/draft/story/09000d5d827ed0e7/article/raw-skills-upside-legitimize-ryan-tannehills-top10-value

Who cares who is the "face" of the Miami Marlins, they aren't going to beat the Phillies for the division, maybe get a wild card if the Giants, Diamondbacks, Brewers, Cardinals, or Nationals (that's right...NATIONALS) don't steal the two wild card berths. I am disgusted about the Heat's woes on the road, especially against the teams they have to beat to prove they would win the NBA Championship. The Big Three should average 30 or more points per person on EVERY night, not have disappearing moments in the 4th quarter (especially from LeBron). The Dolphins suck...end of story, and you call The Rock beating Cena "an upset"? I call it a big loss for real WWE fans. Corporate WWE wins again by hyping a match and getting dollars for "The Rock" coming back, only that he'll leave again...GUARANTEE. The real fans lose out cuz Corporate WWE sees us as dollar signs and revenue. They don't care what we think on things that are going on. Yes, I am going to RAW tonight to be the only voice in Miami saying "ROCKY SUCKS" and tell "The Rock" "YOU SOLD OUT" and I know I will probably be thrown out cuz Corporate WWE doesn't want true fans to say these things. So if I do get thrown out, it'll further my point that the WWE "sold out" against its true fans and have fans "follow script".

Robert Rodriguez Jr,

You think WWE Wrestling is real ?

All righty then..

Hahaha, click on 'Robert Rodriguez Jr.'s' name - that's a wrestling fan if I've ever seen one!

They really are the dumbest inbred yokels on the planet - leave 'the Rock' alone, it's a f*cking play, not real life. Jabroni.

http://www.southparkstudios.com/clips/251921/wrestling-auditions

Corporate WWE sucks is right Roberto! Time to broaden one's horizons! Feed your heads people! Get real!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ncR2_pnzngM

Yes the Celtics are old Greg.

And your point?

Avery Bradley is young and proved too much for Wade yesterday didn't he though.

What is wrong with having a veteran team to cheer for?

That Heat team quit yesterday.

And it's not Spoelstras fault.

They better call the tin man and get some heart soon.

Brandon Bass is looking like a steal for Ainge too by the way.

Heat will never have an answer for Rondo.

Should I keep going?

Ok I will.

Until your dynamic duo starts going to the basket and actually making foul shots that team is going NOWHERE.

Chris Bosh is terribly overrated.

Have a nice day!

And stop saying the Heat Big Three.

Sounds stupid.

Try a new name that isn't ripped off from another team who has already won a championship.

Should have been two OC, they handed it to LA in 09'.

Bosh looks like an ostrich.

It's called the regular season Big Baby, Heat have lost to worse teams than the Celtics, and vice versa.

Heat are going to blow the Celtics out at home next week and it won't mean any more than that game did.

Watch what happens when both teams are fully invested in the playoffs, the Celtics' 'Big Three' is so outdated it doesn't even include the only great player left on that team.

Miami Heat are paper Tigers.

Boston Celtics are spoiled prune juice.

More age jokes.

Really original stuff.

You and Cote should start a comedy team.

now now boys,

Too early to start with the inmature posts, can we at least wait until after lunch ?

FZB,
Tannehill could go to Cleveland and not be available for Miami. *Good article you posted.* Charlie Casserly historically f**ked up Redskins draft while he was there. Casserly was easy fodder for a team who is slated to draft high, call Washington and get a rediculasly great return by trading down. By his own admission he claimed that a GM has to overpay to draft up to get the player they want.
Trading up to get a prospective franchise QB makes more sense then Casserly trading up to obtain a Safety or DE-OLB.
Tannehill could be Miami's #1 pick IF he's still there. Mike Sherman knows the young QB better then any of the expert pundits shouting predictions. If Miami passes on Tannehill and goes DE (my opinion is Miami drafts DE Couples or WR's Floyd, Blackmon or trade down obtaining an additional #2) then Sherman doesn't believe Tannehill is immediate NFL quality.
Miami should draft Tannehill & take at least a yr to develope him. The guy is a great fit in WCO scheme, stronger arm & tremendous footwork. However the QB's Intellect & talent around him makes up for a weaker arm. Little known Joe Montana didn't have a strong arm, just smarter then most & very accurate.
With Miami dumping Brandon Marshall, don't be surprised if Fins get 2 WR's in the first 3 rds.

For you regulars that have been on here a few yrs,,, I have been screaming about Miami's lack of talent at both Safety positions for a while now. Getting rid of Bell makes the current S talent on the roster straight up poop.

And yet it is you that will be peeing in your pants wearing old man depends if they have to face Boston in the first round.

Out of the current Eastern Conference playoff field there's no team I'd rather the Heat play in any round than the Boston Celtics. Every other team has better big men than Miami.

Jimbo - Reshad Jones could be serviceable at strong safety, Jets got an absolute STEAL picking up LaRon Landry for the year.

At the recent owners meeting my dream of the Dolphins losing every game this season, firing Jeff Ireland, and hiring Eric DeCosta to save the franchise was officially crushed.

http://blogs.baltimoreravens.com/2012/04/01/eric-decosta-is-ozzie-newsomes-successor/

By June first, there will be more hot dog vendors in the stands than fans.
No parking plus a stadium in the middle of "no speaky Ingly" town equals disaster.
Loria and Samson should go jump off a building.

Big Baby,

of course the heat aren't done yet- they will get a chance to be officially done in the playoffs should they mange to lose.

mike1,

nice to be in agreement with you again- this time concerning the heat. as kazaam would say this is only the abridged reglar season, but the last few games against contenders on the road does not bode well, especially when the boys from miami gave up rather early.

did you see about the passing of giorgio chiniglia (sic)? didn't see a lot of cosmos games, but he was the italian ray hudson in trying to promote futbol here in the 70s. mexico is playing in the concacaf tonight- is that the U-23 version?

Guys,

Check this out, specially you Shadow.

http://www.cnnsi.com/2012/writers/peter_king/04/01/bounty/1.html

LouSanis,

Good God man, why so cynical? Get over the crappy new logo.
It'll be a roaring success! There's AC.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-IfQ9l0TXqA

Senor FZB,

if the dolphins take your man, you are entitled to one thousand "i told you so"s coming my way. we'll give him three years to prove hisself before i return the favor. vaya con dios

Bosh is soft and if the Heat dont win this year, they need to dump him and get in a tough big man.
Also, wouldn't mind trading Wade for Howard and get a big presence in there since Wade is getting old and will not be able to continually take the beating.

For Bosh to be named part of the Big 3 is a joke. Very soft.

r. duke,

left you a note at the end of the previous thread- a reaction to that black strat of jimi hendrix.

Why couldn't Ross have purchased the MJ E T S JETS JETS FAGS!

Strike the M in front of J E T S...

Let us hope and pray my Dolphin blog amigos that Tannehill to Cleveland is just a smoke screen.

I have heard from "my friend" in the NFL and he says Cleveland would love to trade back and get more picks because they really want Weeden.

Tannehill to Cleveland is a possibility at four but more than likely they would take Richadson or the LSU corner...Which would leave Tannehill to the Dolphins at 8th pending what KC does...

Shadow,

If Tannehill to Miami happens I promise I'll be gentle.
with you guys.

"THE BIG THREE" of a different realm

1. gibson les paul
2 fender stat-o-caster
3. gibson hollow body double cutaway

this was before bob weir started with ibanez and others went to customized guitars. i believe any guitarist of note played one of the above mentioned three, with garcia in his prime alternating between a strat and a les paul. the guy missing a fingertip couild make some real music whatever stringed instrument he was using, especially when sitting at the pedal steel while playing with the NRPS.

shadow thanks for heads up. I think what struck me was it was being auctioned off on ebay not more prestegious auction block. Price for such an item seemed low to me as well. Jimbo LOL that "Babe the blue ox" belly was hilarious.

The Duke is in the house.

Dukes'ter, here is some Zep to get your bones moving.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQZoU7iBYN8

FZB, You phrased it perfectly, "Zep to get my bones moving." Thanks my friend.

Correct shadow Jerry could also play a mean banjo.

I'll give no credit to Jeff Ireland if he picks Tannehill at #8.

Picking a quarterback is a crapshoot, decades of drafts have proven that no one can tell if a college QB will work out in the pros.

And if Tannehill drops to #8 that won't change the fact that Ireland is visionless and was the wrong GM to find a quarterback and fix the Dolphins.

If Ireland moves up to draft him then obviously my assessment of him is wrong.

Duke,

I've been meaning to post this song by the Boss and Tom Morello, check out the incredible talent of Morello going solo at the end...the guy is the shit.

Shadow, I know the boss does not make "your toe's tingle" but this is more about the guitar playing talent of Tom Morello, you should check it out.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-mq0uJ7rlM

Kazaam,

If you keep this out I'm going to start calling you Moriarty Jr, (Tom is Moriarty Sr).

PS...Don't forget I still need to know about the sex habits of the SIGANUS CORALLINUS fish, (for my H/S GED)

FOR THOSE OF YOU INTERESTED IN UM BASEBALL:

UM's ranked baseball team (22-7) will face North Carolina this weekend at Mark Light Stadium/Alex Rodriguez Park. The Heels are ranked #3 in most polls!

HERE IS WHERE UM IS ON THE RECRUITING LIST for this year/next season's incoming freshmen - and, UM is not finished with recruiting yet, with still three or four commits deciding (mostly vs going PRO)....UM, as you can see, IS RANKED SECOND IN THE COUNTRY RIGHT NOW, and leads with 7 top 100 recruits!

College Recruit Rankings 2012

Rank School HS Commits Top 100 Pts

1 Florida 19 5 155
2 MIAMI 18 7 146
3 Arizona State 21 4 146
4 Georgia 18 3 139
5 Texas 13 6 130
6 Florida State 13 5 124
7 Vanderbilt 14 3 113
8 UCLA 10 7 112
9 North Carolina 18 4 108
10 South Carolina 15 1 106

Kazaam,

Sorry, meant to say "if you keep this up"..my bad.

Swing and a miss ^

Say what you want about Arod (I do I am a Red Sox fan) but what he has done for the UM baseball facility and team is really a good thing.

Cote,
Is the Florida Panthers being one win away from their first playoff berth in a decade and two wins away from their first division title ever not as important as, say, horse racing to get a mention?

FZB,

Nice post showcasing Morello. Dud just too over at the 6:50 mark. Funny to see Bruce trying (badly) to keep up at 4:30. Just looked like he had a bad case of irregularity.

Not much of a RATM fan, but dude has some serious licks.

Florida Panthers have had a great season In Dale.

They are really building something good over there finally it seems.

They remind me a bit of how my Bruins played last year on the way to winning the Cup.

Tough, smart, difficult to play against.

That is today's formula for winning in the NHL folks.

Bruins have 6 twenty goal scorers most in the NHL.

Throw in some defense and goaltending and that will get you places.

The game has changed it's balance and toughness that wins.

Plus we have an excellent coach.

Dineen seems like he knows what he's doing though.

So who ends up with the best record, between the six teams introducing a new coach?

Bucs, Colts, Raiders, Rams, Jags, or Dophins?

Bucs have the best coach, Raiders have the best team.

Hard to say what their records will be, all I know is that on paper the Dolphins have the worst coach, worst GM, worst owner and no quarterback.

So you don't like our chances, huh.

Big Baby,

garcia indeed had a lot of fun playing with "old and in the way". i saw him quoted as saying the pedal steel was his favorite because unlike whatever guitar he was using he didn't have to hold it up for hours and could just sit behind the steel guitar and play forever. watching him with the new riders in the days when they played between the dead's opening acoustic set and their electric set meant garcia for 6-7 hours on a good night. we saw them at the pasadena civic auditoriun in sep 70 and even got in early enough for the sound checks- valhalla on earth. nice to know he is still remembered for all his skills.

OC,

Kazaam (aka Moriarty Jr) is a glass half empty type of guy, he is not happy unless everyone else around him is in total misery.

I happen to think the Dolphins will be competitive next year, Kazaam, the fact you said the bucs have the best coach of those teams most definitely shows your lack of football knowledge.

Zero chance the Dolphins have the best record, slightest of chances that we have the worst.

But I'm an optimist, I'm rooting for the Dolphins to completely collapse next season, for Jeff Ireland and Reege Philbin to be fired, and for some people who know what the hell they're doing to accept Ross' offer to be the highest paid coach and GM in the league and finally draft a quarterback in the first round.

It's only April but I'm all in on Blowing for Barkley - even if they draft Tannehill there's literally no reason for them to try to 'build' anything with next season behind Matt Moore.

Next year is a complete waste of time that can produce nothing that helps our chances in the 2013 season - let Tannehill sit and learn the offense, draft a rookie in 2013 with one of the top picks, and start building the following season with a real competition between two players who could conceivably fix the franchise.

The worst possible thing that could happen to the Dolphins next season is being competitive behind Matt Moore.

10-6, wildcard loss at wherever, and NO franchise quarterback in the 2013 draft.

Bill Belichick would and has said the same.

But I suppose you know more about football than him too.

Bill Belichick is only considered a genius because he lucked into Brady, in fact Pioli is the guy that found him and Belicheat got the credit.

his record at drafting is abysmal for the last ten years , he is a terrific coach but that is it, so anything he says I'll take with a grain of salt,Did Sciano win anything at Rutger's ?..How many college coaches have done anything in the pros ?..Not many.

Sciano is one of his best friends, of course he is going to say that...Your comment that you're rooting for the Dolphins to suffer a complete collapse just so they can get rid of Ireland and Philbin without seeing if the guy is a good coach proves my point, you are by far the most "negativo" poster on the blog.

Some people (who admittedly don't know as much about football as you) think Belichick's a pretty good coach - if not a GM.

Which he isn't.

And just like there's every reason to think Ireland is a bad GM based on his history, there's every reason to think that Reege Philbin will be a bad head coach based on his background.

He's never designed or called an offense in the NFL, yet he's heralded as an 'offensive genius' because he watched Mike McCarthy run a fantastic offense with Aaron Rogers at quarterback.

There's no precedence for a guy like that being a good head coach and tons of examples of those guys crashing and burning (like every Patriots coordinator ever).

OC,

Glad you enjoyed Tom Morello, he is very underrated as a guitar player, the dude can play.

Kazaam, I did say Belichick is a very good coach, I stand by my statement, he is mediocre as a GM ( as far as the draft ).

On Philbin, I've not heard anyone call Philbin an "offensive genius", you're right he may fail miserable but he also may turn out alright , he does have a very good offensive background , is a very good communicator which is essential for being a HC, all coaches had a beginning, we shall see, the same logic applies to Sciano, the record of college coaches making it big in the pros is not very good, the odds are he will bomb.

No I don't know more than Belichick but I know more than you.

Only saw GD 3 times in the 80's with Jerry shadow but glad I did.

Have probably seen Bob Weir's various bands 25 or more times since then.

Still go to see them a few times a year.

I hope I never grow up.

Big Baby,

if so, you missed the best of bob weir's bands- kingfish- that played in the mid-70s with a red hot guitarist in a guy named robbie hottnot (eventually wound up selling his guitar for dope). their debut was at a place called "the keystone" and was awesome (we got the tape). they did jr.walker's "shake and fingerpop" and the guitar breaks were garcia-esque. they released one album. personnel: weir, robbie lead, dave torbert bass and vocals, and i think spencer dryden on drums. also had a harp player whose name i forget. they were a great show, but didn't last too long as several members got doped out. i believe i read that dave torbert died a few years ago at way too early an age.

So Kazaam is more "negativo" than me? Hmmm. I feel cheated. You do know I agree with him that Miami sucks. I also agree they have the worst GM and owner in the league. I'm not ready to dump on Philbin yet, but given he was hired by two nitwits that odds are that Kaz is right and Philbee is a like-minded nitwit.

That said, I'm rooting for these clowns to draft Tannehill. I suspect if given the opportunity they will because they see what I see......a lot of empty seats if the only QBs on the roster next year are Matt Moore and David Garrard.

Ron Paul,

If you think you're a total "negativo" , well who am I to argue with you....At least you're honest.

FZB

I think you're hot. I love all that "negativo" talk. Makes me want to ....

Hey guys, what up?
