[Game post on Sunday's Dolphins loss may be found directly below this in the blog. Comments specific to the game are encouraged there; comments about the season are encouraged here].
The latest Dolfan Satisfaction Meter results are in following Sunday's 27-17 loss at New England, and they show overall satisfaction plummeting to 33.6 percent, including only 8.0% calling themselves "very satisfied." That reflects the reality of a 3-5 record at midseason.
Back in the blog for a second year, the DSM is a continuous gauge of how fans are feeling about the team and its direction. Right after each game, I invite fans to share their overall degree of satisfaction. Criteria for voting is your own, but I suggest fans consider the most recent game's performance, the season as a whole, the direction the club is heading and your overall degree of optimism -- all in the context of reasonable expectations.
Poll and comments section stay open; however, poll results are certified official on midnight the day after the game, meaning midnight on Monday in this case.
Season results may be found beneath the current poll.

Well during the game the announcers were going on and on about how tough the next three games were going to be for New England, Indi, Jets and New Orleans.....ummm sounds like the guntlet that the Dolphins just went through!
I think the Phins played a heck of a game, I was dissapointed that again we cant get any pass rush on the opposing QB.... this is a trend that is disterbing but can't be helped until the draft and maybe free agency.
I think this game highlights what this bunch of coaches can do with a draft! The three rookies held NE to 27 points... well that dosn't sound great but Brady with one exception wasn't bombing the ball downfield on the rookie corners, they look very good if we can pick up a few D-lineman and a LB in this years draft that are gems like these two then we may be getting somewhere.
As always Ginn again showed how stupid Cam Camron is because he is exclusivly a kick punt return man. To qualify as a reciver you must catch passes thrown by your QB, Ginn had the stage set for him and as usuall he droped an exelent pass.....ok it could have been a bit better but on 4 and 15 he got two hands on it I call that perfect.
Quit telling me Ginn is not consistant because he is.... he consitantly drops balls thrown his way by Miami QB.
This summer Miami will probalby sign a Big FA reciver, why do I think so? Because they passeed on Chambers. He would have come cheap and they knew what production they would have got out of him but they passed becasue, in my opinion they got there eye on somebody big!
This game showed me Henne can make the big passes in the big games, the rookie CB can play on the big stage (did you notice all the man to man they won today, even though a few failed) and even without the two key defensive players with 3:00 left Miami had the ball and were driving against NE on the road...... Next year when Ginns replacment catches that 4th and 15 strike the results could be diffrent!

I think Brian needs to go back to school to learn how to spell or maybe I'm not in on the joke!--I counted at least 14 words spelled incorrectly.

Joey Porter= ZERO
Zero tackles,zero pressures, zero sacks
Maybe he should shut his mouth because he is a zero as a player!!!!!

Horrible performance all the away around. As usual. I act surprised. This team is 53 players, a dozen coaches and a non-senile GM/President away from being a decent team. Maybe we can get ten more celebrity owners. What a disgrace.

I am very disatisfied with our coaching staff and here is why.
first they neglected the wr corp. and the wrs are poorly coached.
second our defense is put together with average players.
third
any team that cant throw the freakin ball for more then 15 yards is jus begging to hae the run game stuffed. Ronnie and Ricky are good backs but they cant carry the team these guys need help and wr corp is basicly saying no big deal.
I know people think of this coaching staff as great but in reality they are not.
G ood front office doesnt just use cheap players. same with a good coaching staff a good coach will see the prolems and make changes namely the play calling is what i am refering to.
something isnt right with the front office but I leave it be for now.
I dont mind losing but when our playcalling and receivers do the same ole crap then its a problem.

This team is building properly through the draft instead of going for the quick fix like the last 3 regimes did. Give it time. 2 years ago New England was toying with this team and kicking the crap out of them. Today the Patriots had to fight hard for a 10 point victory and knew they had been in a game when it was over. This team was so bad off when Parcells got here that there was no way every hole could be fixed in 2 years. Wide receivers will come. A good tight end wouldn't hurt either.

Now it's time to be friendly to the Pats fans on this blog as we need them to preserve the 72 Phins undefeated season in the next few weeks. Saints & Colts were almost out today, but once again they pull it out. Thanks for that FG miss Houston.
Posted by: mike1 | November 09, 2009 at 12:33 AM
I didn't see the NE game. Instea, I went to the Houston Dynamo-Seattle Sounders playoff game.
But I heard that we had a 16 play 10 minute TD drive, which was all the rave. To be immediately followed by a quick strike from NE. How typical is that? These long drives aren't getting the other defenses tired as everyone always says should happen. You would think that after that drive and NE quick score that NE's defense would be worn out..but we never scored again. The long drives; however, do help keep the score down. NE probably wouldn't had 2 more TD"s without it.

Hopefully this game at least reminded everyone why we hate(d) Ted Ginn. The guy's a clown that has one good game a year and keeps people thinking he has a shot at being something...just trade him, get what you can and move on. The offense is limited because none of the WRs have panned out yet. We need a big play wideout and the team's going to look a lot better. Somewhat dissatisfied because they're a little bit too invested in some guys they should be ready to cut their losses with (mostly Ginn and I'm sick of it). We all knew coming in that the team would probably fight to go 8-8 and I still think 8-8/9-7 is what we'll end up as. It just hurts that the team looks like it could easily be 5-3 if not even as good as 7-1. We should have beaten the Colts and Saints, had chances today and weren't even too far out in the game Pennington got hurt in. Only truly BAD game was the Falcons. The team's just got to learn how to finish a game off. It'll come, the building blocks are there. Let's not forget it.

I truly believe the hiarchy is sound and building a successful team, properly, the way it should be built. Last year was great fun, but you are kidding yourself if you really expect this team to compete at a high level. As Matt stated, We are not all that far away, but yet, our weaknesses stand out when the game is to be won.
We are so quick to call for change, the problem with that is if you change you then have to go through another house cleaning and like we've seen before that does not always work the way you might like.
Everyone knows what the team is lacking. We as fans are lacking the one thing we need and that is patience. Give Parcells and Ireland another offseason or two and I believe we will be serious contenders.
Posted by: Mike | November 09, 2009 at 02:55 AM
Ginn has weak hands. That is the 4th of 5th time I seen balls hit his hands and they fail to close. In fact, the hands and arms actually move as if struck very hard. He may be fast but he should be working on strengthening those toothpicks he calls forearms and hands.
I like the fact we had a chance to win the game yesterday.
Davis and Smith played great. We did have some hurry's but were a millisecond short.
I also like the linebackers. We didn't do well on the run. Moroni ripped us for a lot of yards.
Posted by: klndry | November 09, 2009 at 05:51 AM
Ted Ginn did a good job returning kickoffs. But let us not forget he is NOT a WR. So when he drops passes that is to be expected, because that's what he does. Hopefully in the future Sporano will not make the same player personnel mistakes again. At this point, I no longer blame Ginn. The whole world, with the exception of Sporano, knows Ginn is not a WR. If Sporano keeps puttng Ginn in situations that he is not able to handle, we will keep getting disappointed.
Posted by: Tom | November 09, 2009 at 07:49 AM
Well, I voted very satisfied, now most of you will think I'm crazy, very few of you will get it.
I'm looking at the big picture, the dolphins were 1-15 a couple of years back, with no talent on the team...the tuna is building the team the right way, he can't possibly do it in only two drafts.
look at what his done so far...we still have huge holes on the nose , inside linebackers, outside LB's and both safety spots...
on offense we have NO WR's and NO TE's ...
In Tuna I trust.
Posted by: FZB | November 09, 2009 at 08:16 AM
I think is time to see what Patrick Turner can do. Why wait, they don't have anyone else that can catch a pass down the middle of the field when it matters the most, maybe he can. This was probably the 3rd game they lost because receivers cannot hold on to the fricking ball. You can't win in this league by just running the ball.
Posted by: Dog | November 09, 2009 at 09:13 AM
It seems the coaching staff thinks the Wildcat is a gimmick. ... That's how they are treating it these days.
Why can't they just go back and look at the games where they were successful? When they were at their best, they committed to the Wildcat.
True, it might not work every time. And true, maybe some teams are better at defending it now. But it's still THEIR BEST WEAPON.
THEY NEED TO USE IT CONSISTENTLY!

Does any one else find it funny that Chad Johnson (Ocho Cinco) has been sitting in the stands during each of the Dolphins Monday night games? I think the writing is on the wall people. Dont get me wronf. I dont think he would be a good pick up, but can we really be choosy right now.
Posted by: C | November 09, 2009 at 04:15 PM
Tom I liked your idea of having Serena wrap her anacondas around Tommy Boy's head and popping it like a zit. I think Sparano should definitely put that in the playbook for the next time Fins play Pats.
Posted by: r. duke | November 09, 2009 at 05:09 PM
Now now, we have to be nice to Brady and the Pats for a few weeks so they save the 72 Phins. We're not making the playoffs anyway; at least not as division winners.

Parcells will do to Miami as he did to the Pats and the Jets. He will bail out on the team. He was not able to buy the groceries in New England so he left (knowing he had a deal in place with the Jets and still under contract with NE). Then he got tired of coaching the Jets and moved up into the front office of the Jets. He bailed out on them and went into the broadcast booth. He bailed out on them to go to Miami. He will bail out on the team once the owner says "no" to him once to often.

these guys are so close too being a really good team. those corners played very well. the DL did not do anything to help them out. one of two sacks came from Cameron Wake. why is this kid not playing. he filled in for porter and got three sacks. he could really help this team. he needs to play. they really need to throw the ball more. to develop these receivers properly. the just don't get to play as much. i love the play calling because it mixes it up.we are trowing a good wr to the wolfs and that is not fair to him.
Posted by: james | November 09, 2009 at 06:55 PM
I told you all Ginn sucks even though he returned KICK OFFS. We don't have a single #1 WR. No pass rush. No safeties. Jason Taylor should have retired.
Posted by: artie lange | November 09, 2009 at 09:41 PM
Is that the same Jason Taylor that was tiptoeing through the tulips on that dancing show last year?
Posted by: Iron Mike T | November 09, 2009 at 10:05 PM
There is no hope. What an embarrassmet of a team. Big talk. No play. Sickening. Is it coaching? Or is it the players? I don't know and probably at this stage I should not care. After supporting them for more than twenty years, if they don't win games, they are useless. I am wasting my time and money. Enough.
Posted by: Cyrus1a | November 09, 2009 at 10:24 PM
Ginn should be the kick returner and used for the occasional play which involves running. But forget about throwing to him for anything over 5 yds.
Brady says they were extra motivated by Porter's trash talk, talking about "Brady's rule" invented this season in their Ravens game. I never liked trash talk even when it's accurate; it always works against us. Porter should've saved it for some other time.

The only hope we have is for the Gators to beat the living hell out of Saban.

For all who are all too willing to crap all over Joey...(naples, my man - tag, you're it), keep in mind that while it's natural to diss or hate any given player, one should give credit when credit is due.
Personally, I can't stand any, and I mean ANY element that happens to reside within 200 miles of 72° 1.9'W & 48° 20.4'W. Still, I'm willing to cut due respect to the likes of: Bird, Russell, Clemens, Yaz, Brady, Esposito, and others. God, I hated McHale and Ainge!
Bottom line. Got to tip your cap to Joey Porter. Dude has four Pro Bowls, one Championship ring, and a shit load of position records. Hell, he may be the most accomplished Dolphins player in the present roster!
Obviously, anyone has the right to dislike anyone, or any team, as exemplified by my mention of anything Celtic, Patriot, or Red Sox. Still, one would be somewhat disingenuous, by not respecting those with obvious accomplishments and talent.

What I noticed is that Paul Soliai is really below par. He consistantly got flattened or at best neutralized. He just cannot play the middle.
Posted by: Alex M | November 10, 2009 at 04:29 AM
Alex M,
all the line play has been has been turned upside down by the holding that offensive linemen do on every play (EXCEPTING CERTAIN TEAMS- the patriots, colts, saints, among some). if offensive linemenwere forced to return to the old rules and teams ran more, you'd see more of a rush from front fours, and a decrease in blitzing linebackers which shows less than adequate pressure from the DE and DT spots. playing as miami does with a sub-par "nose tackle" (read middle guard) means more linebackers who are also sub-par and an ineffective front seven, making pass coverage by the four defensive backs almost impossible. formy money, vince wolfork is as good as they get in the NFLand with a guy of his caliber in the middle of the line everything changes. kris jenkins was great before he got hurt, haynesworth before he cashed in. 3-4s used to be college defenses designed to stop the run-now they are pro defenses designed to stop the pass; what happened?

Don't you guys ever get sick and tired of losing to the Patriots?
Posted by: Bluto Blutarski | November 10, 2009 at 11:51 AM
OC-Dolphin- A little history lesson is in order on porter. First of all, the guy has not done anything to earn anybodys respect. He was nothing but a spare part the year they won the SB. That defense did not need him. If he was so important, how come Pitts. let him walk, and nobody but Miami offered him a contract? Joey ran his mouth saying the Pats would sign him, WRONG!!! Not a Bellichick kind of player. Signs with the Dolphins, takes his bonus, steals a paycheck the whole year, you go 1-15. The guy takes the easy out, blames the coaches. This guy is nothing but a cancer no matter where he played. The Steelers got rid of him and plexico burress for a reason, and it was not all about money. The sad part about porter is, he is to stupid to know why ESPN, and the other networks call him to talk about the Pats. They know he is not to smart, and will say something stupid. I loved watching him come on the field with his shirt pulled up so you could see his abbs.HAHAHA The pats ran the ball 25 times, and this sorry excuse makes 0-TACKLES!!!! Think about that, he got schooled all day by a rookie LT. playing his 3rd NFL game. It was the coaches 2yrs ago, what do you think his excuse will be this yr?
Posted by: naplesjackpatsfan | November 10, 2009 at 12:02 PM
I read recently in The Wallstreet Urinal that Bernie Madoff is currently involved in negotiations with Patriots owner Robert Kraft to purchase the 3X SB winning franchise for an estimated $29,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.95 though the details of the sale have not yet been finalized. When asked about veracity of impending sale Kraft responded with a grin large enough to turn his rather large head inside out, "What can I say that sure is alot of zeros LOL!" When asked if there was any truth to rumors Tom Brady would have to visit The French penal colonie of Guiana once a year to organize a tune up game between the guards and inmates in which Brady would be forced to play QB for inmates and throw the game Kraft responded, "No comment!" before being whisked away in his modified 1963 bullet proof Lincoln Continental limousine.

OC, I don't know about mr cheat steroid abuser Clemens.
I'll go with Yaz. Truly loved the game and didn't make any big stinks about salaries or otherwise. Spent all off-season trying to keep in tune with batting as he aged. Those were the days when I liked Boston teams, Red Sox and Celtics.

naples,
I can totally understand your disdain for Porter. Like I said, I have similar hatred towards a bunch of players who played for said teams. Again, just saying that they don't issue Pro Bowl invitations to any "part time" players. That is of course, unless your name happens to be Tom Brady;-)
Posted by: OC Dolphin | November 10, 2009 at 02:27 PM
Iron Mike T why do I always hear your posts with Irish accent? Anyway Tiny Tim should've plugged that ukulele into 1000watt Marshall stacks, with a fuzz face, Vox wah pedal and then set his hair and Ms Vicky on fire when he was finished playing! How cool would that've have been!

OC Dolphin- Pro Bowl is a who is popular, flavor of the year. I stand by my convictions, he took his money from the dolphins, then he stole a paycheck every week in his first year. I respect a guy like taylor, pennington, ronnie brown, on the other hand porter to me, is no different then terrel owens. Like I said, there is a reason the steelers let him go. When he left the steelers, the Pitts. Gazette said, nobody but the dolphins wanted him. The same with plexico burress, the only team who wanted him was the giants. At that time, reading between the lines, they said they both had ISSUES!!! Plexcio also won sbs., and made probowls. Two guys who are nothing but garbage.
