Embarrassing. Awful. Jets, 40-13. Dolphins, 0-12. I guarantee that I will make no more guarantees. Two questions in the wake of this mess: 1. Have you begun to lose whatever faith you may have had in John Beck? 2. Will the Dolphins finish 0-16?
Pregame ramble:
If the Dolphins lose today to the Jets the club will disenfranchise itself and become a professional soccer team, as indicated by the proposed logo at left, according to a rumor started by me right here. Miami will not lose, of course. I guarantee it. (But only because Joe Namath abstained).
Inviting thoughts here on today's game, how it went, why it went, and where it leaves Miami's season.
Also wondering what you think of Le Batard's recent radio claim that the 2007 Dolphins would beat the 1972 Dolphins -- simply because players are so much bigger, faster and generally better than decades ago. It's the sort of moot academic debate that annoys me. You judge players and teams against their own era; you cannot time-travel. It does not diminish the legacy of Babe Ruth in the least to imagine he might not get around on a Josh Beckett heater. Bill Russell would be a very small center, physically, in today's NBA. So what!? When comparing the 1972 and 2007 Dolphins in any regard, I might suggest the elder edition is not the one that ought to suffer the insult.

Here's hoping that Gang-Greene fan's throw dog poop at Cam and knock his glasses off.
Posted by: A Dolphin Fan | December 02, 2007 at 01:10 PM
7-0 Jets already. Here we go again.
Posted by: Noel | December 02, 2007 at 01:13 PM
I'd like to see a tight spirl thrown on a frozen rope right into Cam's pointy nose and nerdy glasses. I think it would make for good theatre.
Posted by: A Dolphin Fan | December 02, 2007 at 01:13 PM
sal,
I can't watch the game here, but being the game is Jets-Dolphins, I'm sure it's the worst announcers they have. Maybe training announcers.
Posted by: Noel | December 02, 2007 at 01:16 PM
I knew they would run it again and get nothing. Nice call Cam.
Posted by: Noel | December 02, 2007 at 01:21 PM
Boy im glasde our defense came out ready to play, WE SUCK
Posted by: Justin | December 02, 2007 at 01:30 PM

Posted by: Justin | December 02, 2007 at 01:32 PM
just as good, way to go JT
Posted by: Justin | December 02, 2007 at 01:33 PM
OK why are the Jets wearing the St.Louis Ram's uniforms? I think it's confusing our guys.
Posted by: raoul duke | December 02, 2007 at 01:35 PM
3rd and 2. Here comes the running play for no gain.
Posted by: Noel | December 02, 2007 at 01:37 PM
What's gotten into Porter lately?
Posted by: Noel | December 02, 2007 at 01:43 PM
Come on Cameron, you tit! Let the kid throw the F-ing ball!
Posted by: Dave in VA | December 02, 2007 at 01:52 PM
Hey Cam, see what happens when you let your offense throw deep, pay attention to what the jets are doing and let beck throw the damn ball
Posted by: Justin | December 02, 2007 at 01:53 PM
Its the Cam-Moron show folks !!!!
Apologies to morons everywhere.
Posted by: TorturedDolphan | December 02, 2007 at 01:54 PM
Well Cam do you think you might want to let your QB attempt the odd throw over 5 yards?
Maybe after you have tried to give the ball to Chatman on 3rd & 2 for the 10th time today you will figure out it isn't working.
Posted by: TorturedDolphan | December 02, 2007 at 01:57 PM
Tortured Dolphan, you have just unneccessarily insulted the morons of the world. Shame on you, there's no room for that on this blog...
Posted by: Dave in VA | December 02, 2007 at 01:57 PM
He'll never figure it out.
Posted by: Noel | December 02, 2007 at 01:58 PM
False start, Drive killed before it even started.
Posted by: Noel | December 02, 2007 at 01:59 PM
mr cote,
this bunch beat the 72 dolphins? does dementia set in on the cuban sportswriter male brain 40 years before it afflicts others, G-d forbid. too much second-hand smoke flashback fro when he didi the ricky williams show for QAM and seemingly was in the same vicinity. every "novel 'concept" your colleague advances makes one consider the sun-sentinel or palm beach post for sanity in journalism.
Posted by: the shadow knows | December 02, 2007 at 02:01 PM
Now I know why Cam wasn't playing Booker.
Posted by: Noel | December 02, 2007 at 02:01 PM
I have seen enough of this horrible expieremnt, Beck/CamMORON, time to move on to the next failure coacha nd qb
Posted by: Justin | December 02, 2007 at 02:04 PM
Holy Crap !!!!
Posted by: TorturedDolpahn | December 02, 2007 at 02:06 PM

Posted by: Dave in VA | December 02, 2007 at 02:08 PM
ohhh my god, did our defense just score? Some body, am i dreaming or what?
Posted by: Justin | December 02, 2007 at 02:08 PM
Here comes the run back that will cripple us
Posted by: Justin | December 02, 2007 at 02:09 PM
Oh my God. Were winning!
Posted by: Noel | December 02, 2007 at 02:10 PM
gents,
it is a nice logo that mr cote has come up with for FC Miami- get garo to coach and the town gets a winner, with ray hudson in the booth.
kris chambers has caught two passes for the chargers for 50 yards and has been playing quite well for san diego. seems to have recovered from that horrible hit he took a few years back- someone please remind the ole shadow here of the circumstances of that bruising play which methinks affected his play for a while. wouldbe much appreciated!
Posted by: the shadow knows | December 02, 2007 at 02:10 PM
Hey act like you've been there before guys. Christ they can't even score a TD without taking a stupid penalty to all but guarantee point for NYJ. Oh wait these guys haven't been there before.
Posted by: TorturedDolphan | December 02, 2007 at 02:11 PM
Fucking shit, Jay feeley, i could have spit furthur than that kickoff you fucking trader
Posted by: Justin | December 02, 2007 at 02:12 PM
Hey shadow, Its Chris, not KRIS, maybe your not watching the same player,
Posted by: Justin | December 02, 2007 at 02:13 PM
Does Le Batard not have anything relevant to the south Florida sports scene he can report on?
Christ, I will be happy if the Patriots go 19-0 so the media and especially this team can stop living in a past that is approaching forty year old. Who the fuck cares what this team would do against the '72 team. Bottom line is that this team can't beat any team in TODAYS LEAGUE.
Posted by: TorturedDolphan | December 02, 2007 at 02:15 PM
shulters sucks, why do we keep letting him on the field
Posted by: Justin | December 02, 2007 at 02:15 PM
This team couldnt beat a Peewee team in todays world
Posted by: Justin | December 02, 2007 at 02:16 PM
Justin,
we don't like schoolyard language on this site-please express yourself in a more dignified manner or blog elsewhere. do you honor your parents wih this manner of speech, or are you from a descendant of Dogpatch, USA? and they didn't curse there neither. grow up!!
Posted by: the shadow knows | December 02, 2007 at 02:16 PM
The Miami Dolphins Defense-- We make even the worst quarterback look like an All-Pro.
Posted by: Noel | December 02, 2007 at 02:17 PM
Kellen Clemons suddenly is Brett Farve, he has sucked a big one for the last few months, suddenly against us he Troy Aikmen, way to go defense, way to let a nobody become a sombody!
Posted by: Justin | December 02, 2007 at 02:17 PM
Fucking PATHETIC.
They finally get a score, take a lead, and then give it right back. They weren't even close to stopping the Jets.
Do you realize that the Kickoff was from inside the 10 yard line because of the dead foul penalties.
Posted by: TorturedDolphan | December 02, 2007 at 02:17 PM
Damn if the Phins don't find a way to immediately kill momentum.
Posted by: Dave in VA | December 02, 2007 at 02:18 PM
Dont get made at me becasue you cant spell buddy, ITS CHRIS CHAMBERS, not like the guy hadnt played for us before? If your going to talk about someone, spell the name right!
And i will use whatever language i feel like using, the dolphins deserve nothing other than four letter words!
Posted by: Justin | December 02, 2007 at 02:19 PM
Thats the beauty of this world, free rights, freedom of sppech, I can say what i want, when i want, DolFAN, true and blue, but ill use whatever words i wantg to describe them! But i do thank you for your advice! Just know, its Chris, not Kris and we are ok!
Posted by: Justin | December 02, 2007 at 02:21 PM
Is your lousy QB struggling? Is he completing few passes and getting you no points? We have your solution. The Miami Dolphins defense will turn him into a superstar winner immediately. Play against the Dolphin D today!
Posted by: Noel | December 02, 2007 at 02:21 PM
The dolphins are coming out with a training dvd to help make QB's better, they needed todays game to get that extra footage they covet so much
Posted by: Justin | December 02, 2007 at 02:23 PM
Hey watch it now, beck ios closing in on 90 yards for the half, looking like a highschool qb now, a few more games and he might be KYLE WRIGHT good :)
Posted by: Justin | December 02, 2007 at 02:24 PM
bout time they throw to Ginn, why the hell is an crummy FSU runningback our leading reciever today!
Posted by: Justin | December 02, 2007 at 02:25 PM
Someone slap me. Did Hagan just catch a ball. I knew you were right Nick.
Posted by: TorturedDolphan | December 02, 2007 at 02:26 PM
Testimonial---
I was struggling badly. Then I played the Dolphins defense and accounted for five touchdowns--Daunte Culpepper.
