Monday meanderings...
(*) If the price is right, should the Dolphins pursue Keyshawn Johnson? Hey I'm just askin'!
(*) Another Florida Legislative Session has ended once again contributing nothing to the Marlins' new-stadium efforts beyond the effort pictured here. Thanks for nothing, Tallahassee.
(*) The Yankees are spending roughly $26 million in salary and
luxury-tax penalty to rent Roger Clemens for four months. Desperate. Sad. The Rocket is so old, which would be the better updated nickname: The Rocker? The Rickety? Plus, didn't the Yanks give Clemens a Hummer upon his previous supposed retirement? Guess he'll have to return the Hummer. Words no man wants to hear.
(
*) Phoenix Sun Steve Nash is pictured at far left here undergoing a rare type of rhinoplasty designed to enlarge one's nose, a procedure sometimes called Jimmy Durante Surgery.
(*) Who wants a Mayweather-De la Hoya rematch? Could Floyd have done less to win?
(*) Street Sense's rally from 19th place was a heck of a show in the Kentucky Derby. Does this seem like a horse that can end the Triple Crown drought, though? Yeah I don't think so either.
(*) Bodog.com's updated post-draft Super Bowl odds as of this morning: Favorite, Patriots at 2-1, followed by Chargers 6-1 and Colts 8-1. Dolphins tied for 24th at 50-1.
(*) Bring back Ricky Williams!
(*) Headlines You Thought You'd Never See, one in a series.
(*) Why the Phrase 'Stupid Criminal' is Often a Redundancy, one in a series.
(*) "I'm sick of it. I ask you time and time again to post a photo of a women's high-heel shoe made into a motorcycle, but you never do!"

- the pride of canada, steve nash, should have been a hockey player. the wimpy nba doesn't deserve him.
- saw the commercial of doug weight hoisting the stanley cup (30 lbs.) with a dislocated shoulder. d-wade?
- heard sid crosby played two weeks on a broken ankle and didn't even get a single free-throw.
- key will never come to miami. who would throw him the damn ball? a qb broiled in lemon, sage, and culpepper?
- last time i checked, roger clemens would be the #1 starter on the marlins and also could afford to build a major league ballpark for minor league miami.

God bless Tallahassee. The sooner the Marlins move, the better. They suck. How many times have they had no hits going into the sixth, seventh, eighth innings so far this year? Five? Six? It's only May! Horrible. They're a Double-A team at best.

I can still remember seeing Keyshawn at the NFL Draft when he interviewed his cousin Dwayne Jarrett telling him "Don't worry, I'm gonna take care of you"

are u an idiot
marlins suck ?
wat ?
they are the ONLY local team to be overachieving !
Tallahasse has let us down
just as all out banana republic local gov't has!
the marlins deserve to stay in Miami
FL owes Miami, if only for the ridiculous amount of money that Miami brings in for local gov't.

from what I read about, yet, even more Miami corruption ..this time in the real estate sector.. i'm not so sure this city deserves anything.
what ever happened to some guy's idea of getting the rich & famous of Miami involved in the stadium? maybe they'd go for it if they got a good deal out of it
Posted by: mike1 | May 07, 2007 at 07:48 PM
mike1,
great to see you back. man u thankfully will not win the triple; the possibility of the double is bad enough. my side, luton town ( hatters), is headed down to division two but i am still loyal.
chicago looks way overmatched in the frontcourt against detroit, who i believe to be better than the suns or spurs, although i would love to see the warriors get into the finals- bring back lewis (black magic) lloyd and the warriors are in!! a great talent who wasted his life and career owing to cocaine in the snow-capped 80's. take care

They have to bring back Ricky, I heard Dan on his show saying NE wants to sign him, if that happens, the NFL mine as well just forfeit the next 3 football seasons and give the trophies to them; if Cam or the Phins let Ricky go, they're getting 2 thumbs down and a boo ...
Posted by: hey there, how's your steak? | May 07, 2007 at 10:37 PM
- how would the heat be matching up against the pistons?
- i guess the heat took so much out of the bulls, they deserve credit for detroit's success. now, that i've stopped laughing hysterically.......
- since there are arctic seals being found in fort lauderdale, does the mean there any marlins swimming around las vegas or portland?

Wow, a motorcycle in the shape of a woman's high heal shoe. Now, that will get the ladies' attention. What woman can resist a new pair of shoe or one even?

Greg, I can't answer your first question. Since I just scored a job as a consultant we need to work out a contract first...
Posted by: David Tucker | May 08, 2007 at 12:44 AM
I'm not a Marlin's fan but I find it funny how the people talk about their beloved Marlins and don't show up to their games. They could built a stadium anywhere in this county and still people would not show up.
On Keyshawn he could be a good not great receiver for someone this season, he will find employment. The Dolphins keep telling us ther will be light at the end of the tunnel. I hope is not the light you see before dying.

still bagging on the injured, depleted heat, huh dean? enjoy it while you can. i guess it's easy to kick a team when they've already lost, than supporting either the overrated bulls, or the starless pistons; neither of whom will do a damn thing against ANYONE in the west. you know, like what the heat did against the west when they were healthy. it must be frustrating for you dean, to see a young stud like wade down here in miami; a player better than any the bulls or pistons have had in a LONG time. and he is in miami for a long time. get used to the losing; oh wait, you are a chicago and detroit fan. you already are a pro!

and shadow:
an update in the "my new FAVORITE player" department:
ben gordon. 37 min. 3-7 from the field. 13 points..
if that isn't elevating your game when it counts, i don't know what is..
maybe it's time to pick a "new favorite player". hinrich is available; he didn't even make a shot!
Posted by: david | May 08, 2007 at 07:22 AM
and where oh where are all the idiot bulls fans prophesizing a title for post jordan chicago? huh? i don't hear you f!*#@^g idiots now, do i?
too bad the pistons have a team that stayed healthy all year. maybe if every chicago opponent had the same injury issues that plagued miami, you'd have a chance..
it will also be lovely seeing even a HEALTHY piston team, (if they even make it), get swatted by the winner in the west.
yep. i love this game.
Posted by: david | May 08, 2007 at 07:31 AM
david,
do you understand that i said "FAVORITE" and not "greatest" player regarding ben gordon means i like him even though his backcourt partner was useless and the pistons' front line completely dominated the bulls. look at a game in context, not just from the stats at contest's end; the early fouls didn't help him either as his playing time was diminished. detroit looks terrific and who was automatically giving the trophy to the winner from the west? pistons are deep, tough, experienced and have a lot of guys who can score.

I stand corrected. The city of Miami - a toilet, a septic tank, a sump pump of subhuman existence - does, in fact, deserve the miserable Marlins. And the putrid Panthers, and the disgusting Dolphins, and the horrific Heat, and the gangster 'Canes. I can think of no better collection of sporting miscreants for such a horrible town. God, I cannot WAIT to get a job in another location and get the hell out of here.

hi shadow,
- my first favorite player was dave bing. how could you not like a guy who played the way he did while legally blind?
- my second favorite player was oscar robertson. the closest any of my favorites came to being the greatest.
- my third favorite player was tiny archibald. gotta love little underdogs in this game.
- my fourth was isiah thomas. biggest heart ever found in a six footer.
- currently my favorite player is d-wade. oops gotta go... i was laughing so hard i sh-arted in my pants!!!

Good riddance! The sooner the better.

I read Monday Morning QB on si.com yesterday, tell me something i don't know
Posted by: Jake | May 08, 2007 at 01:31 PM
dean,
dave bing- smooth player who could score and score and played for a lousy team; didn't knoqw he was legally blind-knew he was extra-legal talent
oscar robertson- the old lakers-royals games (elgin and jerry versus o,wayne embry, and jerry lucas) used to bring out the A-list crowd; got the autograph of tomy davis, my favorite all-time baseball player, at a lakers-royals game
tiny archibald- from the bronx to texas western, leading the league in scoring and assists same year; terrific player
isiah thomas- a man among boys in college; ESPN showed the blazers-pistons finals where the man-child scored 21 in one quarter- while not one of my favorites as a piston, he was a top ten player at point guard and he, dumars, and vinnie johnson are right there with dennis johnson, gus williams and downtown freddie brown as guard trios.
Posted by: the shadow knows | May 08, 2007 at 04:19 PM
shadow
rip - any word on dj's cause of death?
downtown - trying to remember if he played in aba or with the 3-pointer at any time during his career? incredible range!
gus - #1 in more ways than one.
* what about slick watts? was he ever a part of these sonic teams?
** clyde frazier - pearl monroe - cazzie russell - bill barnett. were russell and barnett considered guards, forwards, or swingmen?
Posted by: dean | May 08, 2007 at 04:39 PM
dean,
no word on the COD of dennis "airplane" johnson
freddie brown played his entire career with the sonics and was the beneficiary of the 3 point shot when the NBA took in the ABA teams- and he did have unbelievable range and was twice the player that vinnie johnson was
walt fraziewr and earl monroe strictly guards cazzie russell was more of the prorotypical small forward and was a terrific sixth man, as his ball handling and rebounding skills were minimal; dick barnett was your basic off guard- awesomne defender and had a great shot- shot from behind his head with his legs tucked under him; his nickname originally was "skull" because of his shaved head, then he became "fall back, baby" as he was confident when he shot and advised his team with that phrase to get back on defense!!

Northern Florida politicians have been jealous of south Florida for quite some time now. So of course they are going to appeal to places like Orlando, Jacksonville ,and Tampa more. Which is unfair but who says life is fair?
