why not Atkins from Miami ?

im still in shock for taking ginnpy at 9.

terrible pick at 9.
he was a 20th to 25th overall pick.

we could have loaded up w more picks.
but hey
thats wat elite teams do.

mueller lets us down.
i was high on this guy.
i dont blame cam
hes a coach
he doesnt knw any better
this is wat mueller does
he should knw better.
shame on him.

nick saban must have died laughing when he heard the pick. he"s not the only one who stabbed us in the back

Ginn? Lets see, when was the last time SB Team won a SB with a Santana Moss Type player. Thats what Ginmpy Ginn brings us. Colt, Patriots, Denver Dallas, all those teams won with a STAR QB something the Phins don't have, thanks to the two morons Mueller and Cam. Pick a kid just because you have ties to his family. What an Idiot, I live in Ca. and was planning on going to see them this year, but not after this. What an embarrasement to the Org. and to its Fans...GO BRADY QUINN !!!

The FINS are blowing it...Who is this overweight kid they got from Hawaii, when Walker, Wynn, Selvin Young, and T Moss were still available. Do we have a TE, oh no we don't but Ben Patrick is sitting there for the picking.......AWEFUL draft.

I personally don't know why some of you are so all over Quinn's jock. He got hammered in big games consistantly and shows little ability to handle a blitz and also read the 3 deep as well as others. Now, I haven't done any research on the second rounder, but he is likely as good as QUinn with less cash outflow. But whatever.

The picks on this day have not proven worth even commenting about. Mauia? SO Moss from UM couldn't possibly be worth FB/RB 6th round chances but a kid coming out of the Jones system is? I like June, but picking a FB from his team is like drafting a cheerleader to play TE for St. L. Won't get used much anyway so why care.

Soliai? Lacks an explosive first step, doesn't do a great job of anticipating the snap and isn't going to make many plays in the backfield. Played offensive guard until the 2005 season, takes too long to locate the ball carrier and gets caught out of position at times. Appears sluggish at times and may need to shed some weight. Lacks ideal closing speed, doesn't show a variety of pass rush moves at this point and isn't a great interior pass rusher. Suspended for Armed Forces Bowl his senior year and character is somewhat of a concern.

great draft Cam. Where you and Randy entertaining people next year?

By picking up Soliai from Utah at #108 we passed on Marcus Thomas of FLA who goes (121 to Denver) and Kareem Brown of MIA who goes (127 to NE). Brilliant! We must have had all our scouts out in Utah and Hawaii this year.

Lots of "Quinnophiles" out there, I agree, the guy was alright but hardly a phenom.
These later picks look to be alright, if the kid from Hawaii can also play on the o-line then he can train for that spot.
Do you notice that most of the hate is not directed at taking Ginn jr. at 9, but at not taking Quinn. Maybe if Wayne pays for an 'extreme makeover' for Beck so he winds up looking like Quinn will appease these morons.

The Bulls were like the janitors, they saw garbage on the floor and busted out the dust pan and broom and swept it up ... the Heat got disposed of. AND YES! They should be ashamed and hang their heads. They say the truth hurts but yunno the Heat will make excuses and waaah. I'm a Heat fan but all season I've been shaking my head in disgust. Hey Pat, why don't you stop your useless motivational techniques and start stressing the importance of the regular season. Yeah. The Bulls ripped out your manhoods and, and, unfortunately, they are your daddies ...

DAY GOT EVEN WORST DONT WE NEED A CORNER? I GUESS THERE ARENT ANY GEMS AT THE CORNER SPOT ON DAY 2... THE O LINE PICK SUCKS THE TACKLE PICK SUCKS CUZ THEY HAD MUCH BETTER TALENT LEFT ON THE BOARD AT THOSE SPOTS... THIS IS JUST BULLSHIT ALL AROUND

CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHO DRAFTED LEANORD FROM RUTGERS AND IN WHAT ROUND? THANKS

fellas,

tthe san diego writers are applauding the backbones of those who chose fro miami, cleveland, and san francisco for not doing the "knee-jerk" thing and drafting deeper into the rounds for available talent; the facts are that brady quinn, no matter how good, was still available to cleveland at #21 and will have a lineman to protect for him. the dolphins acquired in john beck a mature player whose teams accounted for a lot of points along with a dangerous returner/receiver at #9. 49ers drafted a lineman to solidify their offense aned provide more creases for frank gore to run through- i believe they have made some good observations.

I am officially resigning as a Dolphin fan. I just don't know what else to do. I hope Publix doesn't loose too much money on these picks for the team shirts they sell and mark down on clearance like they did for all the other lousy trades that this team has made in recent years.

The DT from Utah sounds promising. I just don't know enough about others drafted to feel one way or another. I have seen plenty of positives and negatives written about all off them so we shall see. In my mind it's still way too early to get my undies in a bunch over these picks. They haven't even hit the practice field yet.

When did the peanut gallery become NFL draft experts? You are upset at the draft because we didn't take Mel Kiper's favorite picks? Give me a break. This is a billion dollar business and most people don't have a clue about what really is happening in the War Room. Overreach for Ginn? What if that's who the Dolphins thought was the biggest help? Oh? You know more that the Dolphins staff? Why not take So and so from Xavier University in the 7th round? Waaaaahhh... How about you wait three years and see how this pans out? I find it absurd that people can judge today how good a team's draft was. And these sports writers (other than Le Batard's good article) are equally ridiculous and should be flogged.

Timeb0mb,

This is the Internet. There is no patience here. There is no perspective here. Only those who consider themselves draft experts because they watch ESPN a lot. Nice post, though. ;)

Oh yeah... and I've read numerous posts by various people who claim they are dumping their Dolphins gear in the trash can after the draft. Wow. Way to be a fan. May be, and I'm just spitballing here, football is merely game being played by people who are far far richer than any of us will ever be, for purely entertainment purposes. If you are losing sleep that the Dolphins' picks did not track mockdraftjagoff.com's mock draft, I suggest counseling or as a cheaper alternative, lots of alcohol.

Well said timeb0mb.

99.9% of these clowns don't know the first thing about football.
Oh, but they know the picks that are going to pan out and which are busts.

We drafted two centers, if my eyes don't deceive me. And Lorenzo Booker, while Michael Bush was available. And an undersized linebacker who runs a 4.8.

I have a funny feeling the report cards on this draft will be abysmal.

I can't help but wonder what Herm Edwards thought process is here. Is he just a ballbreaker or does he really think he is going to extort something extra from Miami for Trent Green? My understanding is if KC didn't take what Miami gave them today for Green we basically wouldn't have to give KC a thing. Is this accurate?

Outside of the punter, Brandon Fields, who will be punting a hell of a lot in 2007, I challenge anyone to present any kind of credible rationale why any of the second day Dolphin picks will make a better team. That is, if anyone has heard of any of the second day picks. Mauia? A 5 foot 11, 351-LB fullback? This guy is wider than he is tall! I hope that he rolls well because he's a bowling ball! Honestly and objectively looking at the 2007 schedule, I don't see any games where the Dolphins will be picked to win. This is a very tough schedule, playing the very tough NFC East, and the Dolphins will most definitely be forecast to finish last in the very tough (except the Dolphins) AFC East. The best chances for a win are Cleveland and Houston, but both of those games are on the road and both of those teams beat the Dolphins the last time they played. There is a very real possibility that the Dolphins will have the perfect season in reverse (0-16) in 2007! Meanwhile, New England just gets stronger with Randy Moss (who is running 4.35-second forties in his Boca training) and Dante Stallworth. Unbelievably, the Patriots have yet two more first round picks in 2008 as they always seem to have every year. The Dolphins have absolutely no hope of catching the Patriots for at least 10 years and until Belichick and Pioli retire! The Patriots are so far ahead of the Dolphins in every way there is just no comparison. Ever since Shula left, the once proud Miami Dolphins franchise has been slowly descending into complete disaster. It seems that the team is very close to the bottom now. All the new draft picks at the skill positions are small and weak; opposing defenses will man-handle them, and with no blocking extensive injuries should be expected. An 0-and-16 season, or even a "best-case" 4-and-12 season will have both Cameron and Mueller fired. Where do we go then? Maybe Wayne can offer Bill Cowher a percentage of the franchise? Get a wheelchair for Shula, and bring him back? These are our darkest hours.

Basic rules of drafting:
Measurables don't count for anything come game time (Jason Taylor was too skinny, Zac Thomas was too short, Yatil Green--remember him--was the speedy receiver we needed to upgrade our offense, from a stellar college program)

Sometimes it's nothing more than dumb luck. 60% of the players in the league are late round draft picks. How many first round picks go bust?

Pickin' em is sometimes a matter of matching need with available talent.

That said, the dolphins have an aging defense with one, maybe two pushes in them, a weak secondary, all of one major off-season acquisition (who may end up on Goddell's naughty list), a quarterback who isn't healthy as far as we know, and a plan B who is 1) 38 and 2) coming back from a major concussion (and we all know how good those concussions are for you). Beck was pretty good at BYU…but the rest of those picks? What needs to they fill, now or in the long term?

Yes Mueller and Cameron get paid millioins of dollars to do this and the peanut gallery doesn't. But maybe people are angry because these are just common sense observations!!!

For all those people stating that the "peanut gallery" should pipe down and trust the professionals such as Mueller: I beg to differ. If our professionals were so good (Mueller has been around a while), why are his picks so bad and New England is so consistently "lucky"?

I know "stupid" when I hear it: " we know Ginn's family". The "drain trust"'s response tells all -- they were confused and caught off guard by what happened. Stupid justification. You need not be an expert to judge human responses and their response was telling.

I THINK THE PROBLEM WITH THE DOLPHINS STARTS AT THE VERY TOP WITH THE PERSON PICKING (1) WANNSTEDT AS COACH (2) MULARKEY AS OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR (3) MUELLER FOR PERSONNEL. Until the owner changes, the dolphins will be mediocre at best. I am considering watching another sport even if football has been my favorite for so long.

Everyone is upset at not taking Quinn, but why did NO ONE else take for the first 21 picks either? I don't want to hear that because they didn't need a QB. If Quinn is that good - if he wasn't at ND and on TV every weekend - he wouldn't be as hyped. Miami could have traded down but NO ONE wanted to move up to #9 to draft Quinn - don't you people get it? Hopefully Ginn will heal and turn out as a good pick and Beck will develop. Only time will tell. Darius Walker from ND - their star RB didn't get picked either. Enough said about ND and their pro potential. Give Cam a shot. Go Fins!!!

I don't have any problem with passing on Quinn, especially since Beck looks like a pretty good pick. But turning around and using that #9 overall pick on Ginn was just dumb. Why weren't we on the phone with some teams, looking to get out of that spot? Or taking one of the good D-Line prospects, or Leon Hall?

And then the Lorenzo Booker thing, and the two centers thing. And the fullback thing.

The only two drafts I can ever recall being worse were both orchestrated by Mike Ditka.

No 5th round pick to speak of, we got a OL, RB, DL, P, DL with our last 5 picks. With one of those 6th round picks, I wish we could have gotten Ben Patrick, TE out of Delaware. Big, good speed, good hands. Could've been another McMichael that could catch.

I've been a DolFan my entire life. Some of my fondest childhood memories are seeing my soft-spoken and gentle mother screaming "KILL HIM! KILL HIM!" at our TV as A.J. Duhe crushed the opposing RB. But today I feel lost and hopeless with my team. The Dolphins seem incapable of getting ANYTHING right! When was the last time our Fins made a move/decision that did not blow up in our faces?

What I hate about their latest blunder is that it robbed us from having something to get excited about. Even if Beck turns out to be as good as Quinn, it doesn't change the fact that the Dolphins blew a great opportunity to re-energize its fan base. Had they selected Quinn, the fans would have exploded with hope and energy for a team that has given us so much heartache for so long. The euphoric joy would have over-taken this city and fans all over the world. It would of let us feel good about our team again and have visions of Superbowls dancing in our heads. Instead we get a "Devin Hester". What a blown opportunity to excite and reinvigorate a town who so desperately needs it!

I wonder why all you *experts* are not NFL coaches and GM's? surely you know more than these people who have been in the business all of their life, right???
Dan Marino WAS a bust, so what if had had no defensive support, and no running game
he should have done it all by himself
turn in your season pass, move to Ireland and get fitted for a skirt, oh and have a beer for me too@ LOSERS

I just can't believe, in the span of 4 or 5 years, how incompetent and inept this franchise has become. You've got an aging defense and NO offense, and you've done little or nothing to give any hope to these fans. This team is in such bad shape I can't see them being consistently competitive for at least 4 or 5 years.

i like this draft, personally i wouldve never gotten excited about rick mirer jr. the offense got faster and bigger.....beck is a stud....the only reason were all bitching and moaning is because brady quinn was on tv every weekend, had beck gone to miami, fsu, or usc...this wouldnt even be a conversation

To all douche bags posting on this draft board attempting to cast shame on us with f'ing sense and passing warranted negative judgement on this circus bullshit of a draft, there is one thing to prove that Cam's mentality is on LSD: we drafted little bitch ass Lorenzo Booker. Allow me to repeat that: bust ass, bitch ass, little ass Lorenzo Booker IN THE THIRD ROUND!! UM owned this little bitch -- I'm sure the NFL will be caught on their heels for sure whenever he has the 20 yards of open space he needs to actually look like a RB.

What this goes to show is that Cam is giving the middle finger to Ricky (a proven, great RB who can run behind this fuckin bullshit line of NOBODIES) and delusionally thinking that a 5'9" bitch could do the job after we drop Ricky.

Who the fuck thinks like that??????

A coach with no clue that's who.

I am hereby calling on all true Dolphin fans to boycott all games until Huizenga turns the team over to an owner with guts and common sense. Huizengas lack of vision and submissive nature has brought this franchise to a complete collapse. Let him be the only one in dolphin stadium left to watch the most pathetic football team in the NFL. All of you boneheads putting more money in Huizengas pockets are only hurting this city's chances of restoring the Dolphins to their former glory.STOP ATTENDING GAMES!!!! SPREAD THE WORD!!

Flashback six years to Draft Day 2001. I was in my apartment screaming "YES" when the Phins pick came and Brees had not been taken. Minutes later, I was screaming "NO!" when Jamar Fletcher's name came up. Flash forward to Draft Day 2007. I was in my car screaming "YES" when the Phins pick came and Quinn had not been taken. Minutes later, I was screaming "NO!" when Ted Ginn's name was announced. I pulled over on the highway to cry.

Time will tell if Cam did the right thing. But time has already told that, in 2001, I WAS RIGHT and the DOLPHINS WERE WRONG! So don't anybody blog on her to say we fans should shut up and let the management do their thing. It IS possible to outthink yourself. It IS possible that the obvious move is the right one.

After 30 years cheering on the Dolphins, I am done. Yeah, sure I am. C'mon, all you fans as disappointed as I am. Don't kid yourself. We love this team; we couldn't stop loving them if we tried. Unless Zach Thomas and Jason Taylor come to your house tomorrow and murder your entire family, you will be cheering them on in the fall. You have to. We're fans, and we can't help but do anything else. Go Dolphins! Go Ted Ginn! Go John Beck! Let's win the Super Bowl this year. Or next year. Or next year. Or however long it takes, I'll be here.

Ok, this may be long, but GREAT JOB RANDY AND CAM.... lets review....

THEY DIDNT WASTE A THOUGHT ON BURNOUT GREEN, last thing we need is another aikman pulling retirement after one more concussion, thank god, lets hope herman edwards deals with him and the Fins dont bother.

Point #2- GINN RULES... Mind you, i personally despise OHIO STATE as much as WVU and Louisville, but hes flippin quick. Yea i dont remember many super bowl teams to win with a speedster at #1, but ummm we do have Chambers who has balls and has good hands when he wants to have them. Ginn will open up the field, something we havent done since OJ McDuffie and Marino. ok cool, he might get his ass kicked a bit cause hes small, he might not be too productive, but our strength is ricky and ronnie, stretch the field, allows for the power run. Good Choice Cam.

Point #3- BRADY QUINN SUCKS!!!!!!! i've said it once, i'll say it again. If Notre Dame played Rutgers in 06, RU woulda won 17-6...... although we New Brunswick faithful will have to wait til 08 to embarass Charlie Weiss, Quinn only looked good against sub top 20 defenses. He crack under the blitzes, and any good defense was able to shake him. His stats were good cause hes smart, and understood WEISS's offense.... cool so hows he gonna adjust to ours, and deal with bigger boys in his face. Not gonna Happen, My bet, Charlie Frye retains the starting QB job in Cleveland by default, Quinn sucks..... I like Beck, he can throw the deep ball, needs some mobility help, but that can come with the adjustment to the speed of the game....

Point #4 the attention to the OL, omg, it only took 4 months for action. I like the effort. Any guy named Samson has to be deadly. just an observation. Let Carey have the LT and solidify this shield early.

Daunte is ready to practice as of May 1st. full contact isnt til August.... Keep Daunte, start Lemon if necessary. Ride the D for Sept.... If we pull outta the early season on a 6-3 tear which doesnt seem too likely.... i see an aggressive Dolphin Team as a possible playoff contentor, and a team to fear in the last half of the season..... Cam's got this, hes gonna shape up that offense nicely. Ive been waiting for the day that the game starts at 1 pm, i turn it on at 1 15, and i miss a 60 yd td bomb from a miami qb, i see it happening soon. Lets support our team.

To all those who are currently freaking out over this year's selections. You might want to consider the following historical facts:

In 1997 Jason Taylor was selected 73 overall. There were 8 defensive ends selected AHEAD of him. Meaning, various other teams believed there were 8 other DE's better than him.

The year before that, the wise collective selected 16 other linebackers AHEAD of Zack Thomas. They also selected 12 wider receivers before selecting who they felt was the 13th best - Terrell Owens.

The point is simply this. No one knows squat of who, or how a player will turn out.

Ginn rated at #2 by some. Beck at #5. The Hawaiian center at #2. Well below the teens described above.

One final point. Did anyone else happen to notice the four characteristics common in our selections?
a. Speed/quickness b. A mean-streak c. Proven hard-workers d. Character.

As pointed above, since no one KNOWS squat, what better way can anyone offer on how to go about evaluating a selection? Mel Kipper? I don't think so.

The majority of these picks MAY prove to be rock-solid winners.

While I must admit I was surprised to see the Phins pass on BQ, and even more surprised to hear the commish announce Ginn's name, I feel great about the first day of our draft. I really don't know much about the guys we drafted on the second day, but Houck has found a lot of late round gems along the o-line so I am hopeful there.

Now, there have been A LOT of people who are "disgusted" and "REALLY MAD!" about our draft, I've even seen those who think we fans should "boycott" the Phins and others who are "officialy no longer Dolphins fans".

What I don't see from the negative people is WHY they don't like the picks! (I am talking about facts, not knee jerk reactions that are not based on real information)

Say what you want about Ginn, the guy has RARE speed that we have not had on this team in a VERY LONG TIME. Ginn will be the fastest guy on the field most every Sunday. People talk about us drafting Hall from Michigan (9 picks later) and talk about us taking Ross from Texas (12 picks later) not to mention BQ went 13 picks AFTER we picked. We may have drafted Ginn 5/10 picks too early, or maybe not. NONE of us can say where he would have been drafted (did anyone ever see a mock that was exactly accurate?) if we didn't take Ginn at 9, but we all KNOW BQ lasted until 22.

Also, just to those who wanted us to draft a corner in the first round, go and look at some tape of Ginn taking two first round corners (Hall and Ross) TO SCHOOL!! Hall was picked 18 and Ross was picked 21 and NEITHER OF THEM COULD HANDLE GINN!!!

****Ginn will give us IMMEDIATE help on special teams. ( does anyone think about how important field position is when you are a defensive team??)

****Ginn is a TRUE playmaker and will be a legitimate #1 WR once he has developed his WR skills, but even before he polishes his route running HIS SPEED IS AN INSTANT THREAT that teams must account for on every play. (am I the only one who is sick and tired of seeing 8 in the box??)

Sorry this was so long, but there is a lot to like about Ginn and I wish more people would look at what Ginn brings to the table and how that will actually affect our team.

Wow... First, I have never seen so many people cry and moan over something that they really know nothing about. Second, with how much you are complaining you would think the Dolphins were usually good at this. I don't know. Maybe its just me but this has already been the most productive draft by the fins in years.

We took Tedd Ginn in the first round.
Wait, what? did I hear Goodell right? We didn't trade away our first round pick last year?

We took John Beck in the second round
woah. Hold up. We had a 1st and 2nd round pick in the same draft? You do realize in 4 of the last 5 years we were missing one of our top 2 picks.

Sorry, but I can't complain. We got 10 picks and 4 of them on the first day. We usually have 4 or 5 and are lucky to have 2 on the first day. We actually drafted a QB that has a shot to make the team. The last QB we drafted was Heupel in the 6th round.

I just find it amazing that people can rip players they have never seen play and have no idea how to scout NFL talent.

And finally to the argument that the Phins should have taken Marcus Thomas: You are an idiot and lets go through the reasons why.

1. He got kicked off the team.
2. He failed 4 drug tests. Not 1 but 4 chances. and he blew it.
3. Ricky failed 2 drug tests over a 7 year period. This guy failed 4 in a 4 year period.
4. It would be such a great idea to put Ricky and Marcus on the same team.

Sorry, the Broncos can have Marcus Thomas because he will be joining Maurice Clarrett shortly enough. We played that game with Laurence Phillips and Cecil collins and it didn't work out.

I honestly dont think Muller and Cameron have any idea how important Brady Quinn would had being for us here. Even if he would not become a great QB, which I find unlikely. Sure Ted Ginn will be great. But thinking, really thinking what would you rather have, a QB with 4000 yards, 30 + TDS or a a WR with some 1000 yards and lets say 8 TDs ?
They had the QB that was going to take the Dolphins back to the playoffs, and maybe a Super Bowl. They just fumbled it, big time. Not only that, but the Dolphins also will loose a lot of money as the time goes by. Can you imagine how many shirts and hats and everything related to Brady Quinn the Miami would have sold, if he was here ? Good job there guys, good job there. I hope next year you wont blow a top 4 or 5 pick we will get. For sure we will loose at least 10 games this season.

I'm wondering what Mr.H thinks about all this. He must be thinking that this better works out or else he will go down as one of the dumbest ownwr in football history. I have never played a down of organized football nor coahed it. I will give Mueller and Cameron the benefit of the doubt and hope it all works out for them. Only time will tell. Don't expect much this season !!!

I am so sick of all the comments regarding Brady Quinn. It doesn't matter how great a coach he had (which should made him a Heisman trophy winner), he's not a nautural passer and he's inconsistant. Mark my word, he will be a bust. A year from now all you so called draft experts will be eating crow.

I wish you all will get over Quinn! QUINN BLOWS! You will all see. He was an over rated QB thats all. Never won any big games, no outstanding numbers he was just a prospect talked up by people like Mel Kipper JR. I hope Quinn stinks terrible in Cleveland and then you will all be saying wow Cam was right. I wanna see all you Quinn lovers eat your words. If he was so damn great then how come no one wanted to pick him up but Cleveland? And dont give some damn lame excuse cause other teams had a QB. If this guy was the next Montana Marino Elway in the making alot of teams would have jumped on this guy like white on rice period. Watch his games he is not that great.

Why did we pass on Ryan Kalil early in the second to watch him get taken one pick ahead of us by carolina? Ginn is supposed to add speed on the field, but when will we add some speed in the brain department of the front office. Forget Quinn passing, on him was no big deal. He will not be a great QB. Beck has as much if not more of a chance to succeed. Quinn is to inaccurate.

Draft day 2 wasn't so bad for Miami. However, at some point the Dolphins office should realize that there's a lot of talent in the state schools and they seem to be ignoring that. They should hire some scouts who actually don't go out of state for a change...

For all of you fare-weather "fans", get drunk, get laid, and get a life. "Our" team is in need of a major overhaul and that's what Cam and company are doing. I was as disappointed as anyone they didn't take Quinn, but they liked Beck over Quinn and I can accept that because I'm not an expert. They say Beck's strength is his accuracy, and that was Quinn's weakness. Personally, I'd rather see a completion than a strong-armed interception.

Hmm, now if we can just teach Chambers to catch...

I bet Ronnie Brown likes the idea of running behind a 270lb fullback.

No, dumbass, we didn't draft two centers. We drafted versatile lineman who can also play center. Pretty smart! Don't you people read bios???

Personally, I'm glad to see Teddy Ginn Jr. leave OSU. Go Wolverines!

To those who say fans should shut up and defer to the so called "expert GM's and Coaches", I'll mention two words..."Les Steckel"...ask Minnesota what they think of his expertise.Or how about Ryan Leaf? I can go on an on. Bottom line, WE buy the tickets, merchandise and give our heart and soul, not for the millions the "expert NFL guys" get, but because of the love we have for our team.
It's utter BS that the Fins "liked" Bek better than Quinn. If that was the case, why did they not trade up to INSURE getting him in the 2nd round? If beck had been taken by the Eagles instead of Kolb, they would have taken Kolb and said exactly the same thing they said about Beck. Mueller knew he had to get a QB...Wayne probably didn't want to pay the big bucks at #9. Lets see how much pressure Ginn's family applies to get Jr. into camp...signed sealed and delivered. I see hold-out on the horizon.
As for character...that big on fullback uttered the "B word" on camera, insolently. He and Porter should get along just fine.
We draft a punter whose stats got worse each year. Makes sense to me.
4 players from one of the weakest conferences in the NCAA. That makes sense as well.

Still, no matter how good/bad or indifferent our draft I'll be living and dying with my beloved Dolphins. Why? Because they're my beloved Dolphins. And THAT makes NO sense.

I'll withhold my comments about the first day (since this blog's about day 2) except to say I'm thrilled with Beck and Satele. Day two seemed to be about a) adding more size to our lines; and b) picking up a couple of undersized overachieving defenders. I like the part about the LB Smith having to make every tackle for SU since he was surrounded by subpar talent; that's the kind of thing that makes a guy good at going to the ball. The punter Fields has a strong leg, has experience with kickoff duties, and fills a need with the departure of Donnie Jones and Mare. The fullback Mauia is an interesting pick because he didn't have much playing experience at the position (started out on O line). Overall, the theme was to use our many late round picks to add depth with hardworking kids from lesser known programs. I can't argue with that. We all need to understand that no outcome from this draft was going to make the Fins a deep playoff team in 07--they just have too far to go due to past bad decisions. This draft was about building a foundation for the future and we probably need at least one more losing season (and good draft status) to properly re-build this team. Yes, it means that probably ZThomas and JTaylor aren't going to get any SB rings with the Dolphins, but hey neither did Marino. I've been waiting a long time for this team to wake up and realize that it's not just a couple players away. Finally it appears that management GETS it and is prepared to build from the bottom up (and that means starting with the lines, QB and depth in special teams). So we suffer a couple more bad years--I promise you that was going to happen anyway and at least this way there is some light at the end of the tunnel. And Ginn should make things interesting as has been pointed out--other teams will have to account for him at all times.

These blogs are amazing. Everyone who actually watched Brady play knows the truth: He was really not that good. To those who don't actually watch these games and go by what Mel Kiper Jr states is Gospel: The man was praising the brilliance of Rick Friggin Spielman on National TV in his draft for minnesota. I want a tally of how many of you who heard of Terrell Davis, Tom Brady, and M. Colston (to name a few) before they became hallmark names around the NFL. It could be worst people, we could be Detroit. Stop saying Randy has been stinking it up for years as it was stated on many occasions that Saban made all picks.

What the Hell happened about drafting a CB on the 2nd Day? We had all of these 6th and 7th round picks and did not use one of them on a DB.

Here is a comment about this particular need:

Cornerback - The Dolphins boasted one of the worst secondary's in all the NFL in 2006. As a unit, they managed only eight interceptions, second worst in the league and equal to or less than six players individually.

The poor play of Miami cornerbacks is one of the reasons the Dolphins were only +2 in turnover margin. And with the erratic play of the offense, the defense has to pick up that slack. It would be a surprise if the Dolphins did not use one of their first two picks on a corner.
