LeBron ruled out against the Bulls; Oden gets first start with Heat

Nursing a broken nose, LeBron James was ruled out of Sunday's national televised game against the Chicago Bulls, and, in a surprise move, Heat coach Erik Spoelstra replaced LeBron in the starting lineup with center Greg Oden.

James broke his nose on Thursday against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Missing Sunday's game will give James a full week off to recover from his injury.

"We will take it day-to-day and see how he feels tomorrow and go from there," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said before the game.

James scored a game-high 33 points against the Thunder before being knocked out of action by Thunder defender Serge Ibaka.

Oden, who has played in 10 games for the Heat, is averaging 7.8 minutes per game. He last started a game on Dec.5, 2009.

Dang...that was one gritty grinder. Took awhile to adjust with Lebron out. Heat D appeared to be dialed up on high. Big 2 & Chalmers - awesome, rest of team - strong defensive effort. Any win vs da Bulls = sweetness !

Nice team win. Time to buckle down and get the 1 seed.

Grinder, RP, we had that won by end of the 3rd and 4th wasnt ever close............Called Crusin even w/o Lebron, and bulls had won 5 straight coming in.

Grinders are 2 pt games in the last minute.

hoping GRANGER will push hard a buy-out from SIXERS and choose HEAT... THINK, GRANGER NOW THINKING OF WINNING CHAMPIONSHIP THAN MONEY...

FOR ME, I COULD SEE HE CAN REALLY HELP THE HEAT TEAM TO CLAIM 3PEAT...

PAT RILEY GUESS WOULD MAKE IT HARD MOVE FOR GRANGER TO BE IN HEAT UNIFORM...

GRANGER CAN TAKE BATTIER POSITION, IF GRANGER WISH FOR A QUALITY PLAYING TIME...

PG CHALMERS / COLE / DOUGLAS
SG WADE / ALLEN / JONES
SF *GRANGER / BEASLEY / LEWIS
PF JAMES / BATTIER / HASLEM
C BOSH / ANDERSEN / ODEN

WE CAN BEAT PACERS ON THE PLAYOFFS!!!

GRANGER'S SWEET REVENGE!!!

What about a Granger hook-up ? He supposedly irked the Heat players during the 2012 playoffs with comments Lebron was quoted as saying were stupid. One would think there'd be some revenge payback involved for him to sign with Heat...but would there ? This is where we could've used Black Trucker's conspiracy theories (spoiler alert***please cue to one of the most outrageous Jack Nicholson scenes of all-time from the movie "The Departed" where he contorts his face suspecting a "rat"). Unfortunately it appears Black has been forever silenced...probably due to the past heavy political-speak from E-Ball...so I guess we'll never know !

Hey Dom...ask Spo or the players if that wasn't a grinder of a game. You know the history how a Thibs-coached team matches up with the Heat. The Heat HAD to amp up the junk-yard dog D to win this game. Tip: watch the game...not always the scoreboard.

How did I get Black silenced?

Heavy political speak?

So when I turned on a national sports program this morning and all I saw was a heavily driven politically motivated story about a scrub on a 10-day contract, was I on the right 'sports' channel? Will ESPN be silenced? I am the only one that mixes sports with social issues?

Great win! Bron wasn't the only one smelling blood. Bosh and Wade killed the Bulls. Good decision to sit LeBron. I hope they sit him again on Thursday's NATIONAL TELEVISED GAME. The league is doing a terrible job of protecting this guy. They need to think about it while the ratings are getting lowered while LeBron sits. The no foul call was BLOODY outrageous.

If sitting Wade for a few games in January yields the kind of game he put together yesterday, then I'm all in. 7 offensive rebounds? Do the damn thing, Dwayne. Averaging around 35 minutes a game recently? We'll see in May/June if Wade is playing at this level, and whether all that belly-aching about his health (and predetermined maintenance schedule) earlier was over-blown non-sense.

No love for RIO? 50% from behind the arc / 50% FGM / 9 assists to 2 turnovers / 2 steals and throw in a block / led the team in minutes + the opposing PG was shut out, as in 0-10 from the floor. Good individual and team defense.

Like the Oden minutes - he almost always comes up with lose balls around him - strong hands. Keeps rebounds alive and finishes well + doesn't take stupid shots (youngins listen?)

Are we going to sign DeAndre Wiggins to a 10-day contract?

If he gets minutes, is ESPN going to show you every time he touched the ball with their isolation graphics?

In today's world, is it braver for athletes to come out as gay or as Chrisitian? Did Jason Collins get treated better or worse than Tim Tebow did? Did Tebow get a call from the POTUS? Do our enlisted military men and women get pay even close to the current minimum wage - and are we currently freezing their salaries where they are at? If you are pissed off, you aren't paying attention, or you are implicit in tearing down this country from the inside. Damn, are service people deserve much better!

Hear me laughing ! Funny stuff E-Ball.

Looks like some 10-days on the try-out horizon. Do remember Liggins being long, quick, & athletic similar to Ennis.

Glad I could lighten your day....and that's not even my best stuff.

RP - any real possibility of Granger joining the Heat? What are you hearing?

I really wish the HEAT would have waited.. Im hearing that GRanger could be bought out in the next day or so, and the HEAT went ahead and signed Deandre Liggins???
We'll see how it goes, I only saw him play a few time with OKC and I didnt see anything tooo special .. but we'll see.. either way I do wish him the best, and I hope if he stays on this team he'll help us actually win a championship and not just ride the bench on his way to an NBA championship ring

I have to say I'm confused at the Liggins signing. Maybe to add youth to the roster and a cheap guy on the payroll? We do need bodies on the roster afterall.

Eyeball, Black is no longer on here to do people being mean to him.

OK...let's needle-nose this thing. The buy-outs have to made by March 1st so whoever is bought out is playoff eligible. The signings can take place afterwards. I would think it'll take several days to negotiate whoever might be of interest.

So...the Liggins 10-day signing really is not a biggie if the Heat go after someone with experience. Liggins to me is cut from that Gilchrist mold of long, quick & athletic. Big question is - you gotta be able to put the ball in the hoop ! Alotta these guys can't shoot worth a lick.

So...what about Granger ? I'm hearing the Heat players don't really want the guy. He did say some things in the Heat of battle & do know he's still very close to Paul George. I'm thinking he may not be the best fit considering everything.

So...what about if Caron Butler is bought out ? I thought previously this season he stood out as a good complement to backing up Wade.

Do think the Heat are holding some serious leverage right now just waiting for the dust to settle March 1st. Any worthy, available guy will be hoping when that phone rings...it's the Heat on the line !

Granger has a bit more left in the tank than Butler, in my opinion, and I did appreciate what CButler did while in MIA.

Remember, Shaq and Zo coexisted on the same team (2006 Championship), and I would bet they had some pretty intense exchanges in their playing careers prior to that. Zo probably big boy enough not to take swipes in the media as Shaq did, but once they got to the HEAT, Riles found a way to get them to concentrate on one goal (15 strong). Could he and SPO do the same with Granger? Don't know. Granger could fill Batt's role nicely after Shane retires, which I don't think will be off in the too distant future.

Adding Liggins is just like Beas and Oden - small risk, for a potentially large return. Maybe we found the next James Posey, or maybe we have the next Ricky Davis on the squad. Either way, he most likely will NOT have an effect on our playoff/championship run.

I like your post RP.
but in regards to the Granger thing, Caron also had some heated exchanges with Lebron in the past, and Im almost sure they may have said somethings to Ray during the Boston and Miami battles ... so I dont think its really THAT big of a deal, guys (especially on the HEAT) put that ego aside when they become a team.. and I honestly do think Granger has more in the tank than Butler as EYEBALLTWO stated.. and Im still a fan of caron he was one of my favorite players back when he was with the Heat.. I think if we got Caron, he would basically fill the void that MIke Miller left.. but if we got Granger he would fill the void, and provide more.. and give Lebron and Wade some more rest time

Yep...would agree. Right now...gotta think it's either Granger or Butler. Though...seems to be currently trending with Granger to Spurs & Butler to Heat based on most recent blogs.

But it ain't March 1st just yet...so the prudent thing to do is wait to see who else falls from the sky !

Update...Yahoo now reporting Granger to Clippers.

As I thought guys...Granger will end up out West either with Clippers or Spurs - not Heat.

Again ...as I thought...now trending: strong chance Butler joins Heat.

If I'm grading out both guys...yes - Granger @ 30 being the younger of the two has more left in the tank with the big assumption his knees hold out. BUT...to me Butler's game fits the Heat's needs better primarily as a Wade back-up. He more of a bulldog defensively & has better handles to create. YTD they both are only shooting around 38% FGA. I've watched Butler playing with Bucks this year and it was hard to get a valid read on his game. He'll only be expected to give an energy burst for short minutes...so let's see what happens.

Both Granger and Butler bypassed HEAT...

we will now focus to developed Beasley and DeAndre Liggins...

As well as..., the Heat must take good care of Wade and Oden health...

we can still win... lets go heat...
