Font choice of LeBron's 'Akron' hat a symbolic nod to the Heat

Akronhat

LeBron James enjoyed another successful charity event in Akron, Ohio, last week. His charity work in his hometown has become an annual celebration of the city's children but also a yearly offseason update on all things LeBron. James chatted with Robin Roberts of Good Morning America and said he was "happy right now being in Miami" when asked about his future. James can opt out of his contract after next season but has dropped hints that he wants to re-sign with the Heat.

It's probably the ultimate example of overanalyzing LeBron, but his choice of hat for the charity event struck me as symbolic. The customized hat read "Akron" in the same font used in the Heat's logo. The connection there is obvious for those looking for any evidence of James' state of mind. He feels at home with the Heat.

lol yea it is.. thats the first thing I noticed when I saw this pic. Lebron will be with the HEAT after 2014.. that is if the Heat can continue to build around him, which they will..

Bron, yes, plz stay... Just would luv to come in too... Gotta a plan.... I'm just saying.... 007....

Whats up Heat Nation!!!

Anybody hear anything on Veteran players getting bought out??? Caron Butler etc...

What y'all think about a trade for Gortat????

Joel, Jones, Varnado, pittman exception...

Think we could attack the paint more this year????

Re the hat and 2 x AkronU students who turned LBJ fandom into a biz.

http://bit.ly/1eHcjpj

http://bit.ly/1bse8qF

Doesn't change the angle that Bron IS reppin the Heat in Akron. He chose that hat for a reason.

Might lead to more three-point shots tooo....

Ha. Check out their instagram -> http://instagram.com/notperfectbrand (featuring Bron + hat)

Also just occurred to me (duh) that Bron might be making a statement about Cleveland. Akron *ain't* Cleveland.

Bron seems to be making a point by marking several Akron appearances with the Heat "brand" as in -- NOT returning to Cleveland, Akron is home and so are the Heat (No, the kids in those instagrams wearing Heat/NPB apparel probably were *not* randomly selected)

HAHA Taheati has done it again!... love the research you put into your comments lol..

Black, naw no new word on current buy-outs yet.. but we'll see what happens. I dont think trying to trade all of our (rarely used players) for one of their starters is a smart move on their part, but hey if it could work! I would be open to it lol..

@Smitty... LOL....

I'm just saying...

But, Eric Griffin, from the summer league team??? OK.... What about Terrance Jennings???. And Seth Curry????

Black...watch for Butler's buyout around mid-season. By that time the Suns will feel the need to go even younger...or tanking to maximize their draft position. They'll probably be others similar that follow same script.

Hmmm.... a lot more comments on Heat articles than there were a few years back. Guess all those Miami-area natives suddenly became interested in pro ball? lol

Im so confused by Al Harrington.. he said "Winning wasn’t on they (Orlando's) agenda and that wasn’t nothing I wanted to be a part of at my age",

but yet he chose to go to the Wizards?? After the Bobcats, Magic, and CAVS the Wizards were the worst team last year! lol I DONT GET IT ... they wont be winning anytime soon.. especially when the East is sooooooooooooo stacked right now..

Hey Max and that idiot Black, STFU

Smitty | Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 08:08 PM

Lol. Really. But Cheddah *is* signing for the vet min, so it's not like he was chasing $$$ or the Wiz outbid anyone. Otherwise, could be case of only 1 or neither side wanting to dance with Heat taxstrung and capstrung by Anthony's contract.

Griffin wasn't bad (sleague). Nunnaly too. Still prefer Dunigan over Varnado as developmental big. Curry definitely has bullseye genes. Also has turnstile DNA. Nothing better than Curry family on offense, few things worse on defense.

No max-imum on this bandwagon. And not all are local (some are "formerly" local, if the Gardens are local). Several also pre-Bron/Bosh and a few even pre-Wade.

We have some outsiders trying to stir up BS, on our blog....

We are Heat Nation....

You can't disrupt that.... Hit the door....

Not really black. You have no clue what your talking about. as usual. you need to leave the blog already.

something tells me I've either seen you on TV, or you just trying to start some mess...

All I can say.... Back2Back... Going for 3...

Hate all day...

We coming... AGAIN.... 007....

I'm a big Heat fan. I just don't know why you say the stupid things you do! 007? Wtf is that??? I'm aware were back to back. Haha you must have a screw loose in your monkey head. Wanting to sign an UNDRAFTED rookie to a 5 million dollar contract is the most moronic crap I have seen on this blog.

On to another topic.... I'll keep adding comments you might not understand, but, we'll like to see what you add to this blog as time moves forward.... 10-4.....

Haven't heard nor read of any Heat attempt to move Anthony. And even if Miami tried, it'd be almost MI-V at Joel's salary. Among the 5 x teams currently w/the most capspace (Bucks, Sixers, Cats, Jazz, Wolves) I'm guessing only Utah might take a look.

Their new GM took Biedrins in trade because they needed "size." Cept someone forgot to tell him Biedrins hasn't lasted 60 games since 2008. What would the Heat get? Cap/tax/roster relief + 1 of 5 picks Utah received in the trade that Riley could parlay into a deal.

*** By "size," Lindsey means relief/rotation size. Jazz currently start Favors/Kantner at 4/5. However, even when Biedrins is healthy, his PF-rate wouldn't give Utah much "relief."

what if Pat would trade:

joel anthony/james jones/plus trade exemption-pittman

To Suns:

*michael beasley

pick-up UFA:

*lamar odom

heat;

pg chalmers / cole

sg wade / allen />eric griffin (SF)

sf james / battier /*beasley(PF)

pf bosh(C) / lewis(SF)/haslem(injured) / varnado

c *odom (PF) / andersen / oden

just sayin

No rockstar. No Beasley.. But Gortat would be nice though.

But what about inviting Armstrong and Jennings to training camp? Maybe getting Oden down to about 255 so he can at least give it a solid attempt at a come back?

Also invite Curry to training camp?

@Taheati,

I like the thought of Joel in Utah. That makes a lot of sense for them. Give their rookie some time to adjust and adds depth upfront for them..

To be honest, I thought Joel would fit nice in both Phoenix and Sacramento?

When you think about it, the Sixers would be smart to take a shot on Joel...

@come on man,

I really was hoping I could get that type of deal... I'm just saying... I've been working on my jumper.... LOL.... yeah, 007...

Whats up Heat Nation???!!!!

@ black

ok Gortat would be nice...

i just thought that BEASLEY could be good if he can return to HEAT coz we have Alonzo Mourning , Haslem to guide him... with Rio / Wade / Lebron / Allen..., that can advice him and let him grow mentally and away from drugs...

Beasley has a lot of potential.... only he needs somebody to back him up...

You know what Rockstar, Beasley coming back doesnt sound like a bad idea... IF THE PRICE IS RIGHT and if he's finally ready to work! Wade tried to school him; so maybe Lebron could get through to him.. It'd be cool to get Gortat and Beasley but that wont happen.

I still like to think about the thought of Seth Curry joining the team.. at least sign him for the training camp. I think if Griffen plays well, and gets his shot down he might actually make the team, then get sent to the D-League..

i like the design

Y'all know something, I thought Dwayne had his own neighborhood down here already. I almost forgot he was a free agent. Dwayne plz stay. Main Man, you already know.. All luv.. 007... I'm saying....

@rockstar,

I see what your saying.. But Beasley has shown why he was the wrong pick couple of years ago. No... we want champions. ? No to Beasley.

But Gortat would be nice...

Do y'all know we could've had Westbrook, Love, Lopez, etc...

We took Beasley. ? No more Michael Beasley. Unless he's a free agent and he comes at the league minimum. That's it. I'm just saying.

I was just thinking about, if y'all go into the archives to when Beasley was here, I begged Pat to get rid of Beasley. ? Now nobody wants him.. Damn..

Gotta admit, he was great in College. Let's just hope Oden doesn't disappoint.

Greg, first thing first, get into shape.. You really have to be careful with your legs. Take some weight off your body, and we'll take some weight off your shoulders, but be ready. Let's go.. 007..

Just got done getting some teeth worked on... Ouch!!!!

But, another thought came to my mind.... We really need to keep CB tooooooo.... CB, plz stay.... I know it's gonna be difficult to work out the numbers, but, we have to try to keep our big three together.... Greatness.... I see some special years ahead.... 007....

Beasley. BEASLEY?

Beasley. BEASLEY?

Zombeas: U kant k!ll me cuz ime alreddy ded.

http://bit.ly/1cTuPyl

How's this sound???

PG: Rio, Cole, Curry

2G: Wade, Allen, Jones

SF: Bron, Battier, Lewis

PF: Bosh, UD, Jennings

C: Birdman, Oden, Armstrong

Not too far of a stretch... Just trade Joel and Vanardo for a second round pick???? Just saying....

Man, been gone for a week and I come back to 'maybe Beasley could fit in with the Heat'?

Luv y'all, but WTF?

No way you could have really been following his career the last 4 years and make that kind of assinine statement. Really, take two and pass.

Seth Curry vs Ray Allen - can I take a minute on this one? Hmmm, let me take about 15 years and thousands of NBA 3pt FGM over a last name and no defense. Next.

Gortat has been nice since he was backing up Howard in Orlando, but can he have the same effect (incredible winning %) as what Birdman brought us last year? Gortat would be a great pickup, but getting rid of anything more than JJ and the Warden adn some draft picks seems like giving away too much, shaking up the chemistry too much.

Can't wait to see what we are like with Birdmand and Lewis playing bigger roles this year. The start of the NFL season will help a bit. Damn, where did the summer go, I'm still feeling Championship buzz!

'Had to laff at myself the other day for being so FOS. Was about to diss Heat fan nostalgia for the "old" Caron Butler, sneer at how overrated he is, rip his defense -- (which was always bad, even as a Heat) ... when I suddenly remembered people throw the same sh_t at a certain Heat savior I've talked up in recent weeks: Rashard Lewis.

Haven't changed my tune on or hopes for Lewis. Still see him as a #3peat x-factor if Spo expands his role *and* Lewis delivers. Just gotta change my tune whenever I see/hear Caron reconnected to the Heat. No songs. But no snorts either.

Unlike The Bease. Just gotta accept some Heat fans will never let Beasley go while Beasley himself never goes away. That's why he's ... THE ZOMBEAS [http://t.co/BHkZj6BvO5 ].

Lol mannn yall are too hard on beasley.. he still has alot of talent! The heat werent dumb picking him, they didnt know that westbrook or love or even lopez would be all-stars who could have been on this team.. They took s calculated gambled and it turned out they lost.. The only reason they traded him was because we got Lebron.. he can still be a good scorer for us off the bench. . Just have to get that weed problem under control, and actually start applying himself instead of just trying to rely on talent alone

^^^

.....and how many years/seasons and millions of $$ are you willing to waste on this slug? Miami, T-Wolves, and now Suns all feeling buyers remorse. Screw us once, shame on you, screw us twice, shame on us...it won't happen in MIA. If we are looking for retreads, let's go with Caron Butler or Lamar Odom, but leave Beas on that crap pile with Jermaine O'Neal.

I'd take beas for a vet min.. All those other guys are getting up there in age, miami needs to get younger and develop talent.. although beas has had his rough days in the NBA including with this team, he could still turn it around.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9sqgYr_m1N8#at=51

What is James Ennis thinking?

"Oh man. I'm missing breakfast for this."

"Hungry"

"This dude ..."

"Real hungry"

"What time is it?"

"My dead grammy talks faster than this guy"

"STARVED"

"I hate you Jarvis"

"I hate you Joel"

"Shoot. I gotta dial what to reach Sioux Falls?"

I gotta say, the Heat made a smart decision to keep Ennis... Like his talents.... 1 Year over there hopefully he comes back ready to take the floor in the league....

Whats up y'all....

Staying on the Beasley theme lol.. I wouldnt mind the Heat bringing back Dorell Wright also.. he was one of my favorite players, during his limited playing time with the Heat.

Smitty, Dorell signed with Portland a month ago. Jesus Christ. Everyone shut up about Beasley! He's not coming here! Also Gortat isn't coming. You guys are so stupid, the main reason why society is so dumb nowadays. SMH

Just hope they don't wear him out. Per his owner, coach sounds anxious to win, says he'll give Ennis plenty of minutes. Only problem: no rules ball like they play down under could put a bullseye on Ennis' back, e.g., scrubs trying to make a name for themselves by taking the NBAer down.

Surgeon General's Warning: troll baiting may be hazardous to our health.

Just thought of a trade....

Heat trade: Joel Anthony, Ennis, Varvado, futre 2nd rounder....

Suns trade: Micheal Beasley...

Hornets trade: Micheal Kidd-Gilchrist...

Suns get: Joel Anthony. Ennis, Varnado, pick

Hornets get: Micheal Beasley...

Heat get: Micheal Kidd-Gilchrist..

Hornets trade: Ben Gordon and pick up Eric Gordon

Pelicans get: Ben Gordon....

Just thought a trade scenario...

Heat pick up, Terrence Jennings, Hilton Armstrong....

I keep seeing size in the backcourt and and size on the wings...

Wade, Mkg, Bron, CB, Bird or Rio...

just one lineup... or two...

month long session in the lab...

it's like a movie....

And you make absolutely no sense as usual. Maybe the dentist gave you too much gas. Or your just a complete idiot. Your trades are an absolute joke. None of them through the years have made any sense. I'm just saying, 007, I'm a monkey.

....and in that dream of size, who is running around checking those young PGs, Rose, Westbrook, Wall, Rondo, Williams, etc....? Do we think mkg is doing that heavy lifting that RIO had been assigned to do the last couple of years? I didn't know he was that quick of a defender, or that he was capable of running a team from the point. Cause, let's face it, Wade and LBJ are only fill-in PGs, not everyday PGs.

All the talk about us having to get bigger (OK, only an inch or two at one or two positions - yep, like that is going to make any difference - not strength in getting rebounding position?) and now we are going to limit Birdman's minutes to get bigger in the backcourt?

C'mon trade deadline!!!

Everything starts with defense....

Trust me, y'all gonna luv it.... 007...

So in your scenario, Gilcrist is running around the screens chasing these young PGs, that's where our defense will start?

IN THAT LINEUP.... Bron's the point....

And no concern over that wear and tear on LBJ's legs come playoff time? He is 6'8" chasing guys 6" shorter than him.

We'll I'll just forgo the LBJ's legs will be tired at playoff time because he's chasing PGs around all year truth...and just say....

Chalmers' NBA game/pedigree/accomplishments outweigh everything and anything Gilchrist has done.

Sometimes you just don't get it....

Well, it seems that lately, I'm not even close to getting it.

Anything in particular about my comments that are way off base or not germaine to your suggestion?

I don't care if you put KD in the backcourt with Wade and James, somebody has to do the job that Chalmers and Cole do - running the offense and (Spo's words) 'setting up our defense'. Can LBJ do the job of defending elite PGs? Hmmm, reference the Heat v Bulls playoff series a year or two ago. So yes, he can, but do we want him to have to, just to get a couple of inches taller, not faster mind you, on the perimeter.

Help me out with your vision.

Your annoying me now.

Sometimes my post have a mind of their owns.... WOW!!!!

@eyeball2

There's different lineups for all matchups.... Thats why those 2 good....

Yo man, I know Dorrell signed with another team.. but this is a blog.. where people are FREE to write whats in their minds, somethings I KNOW wont happen (i.e. Allen Iverson signing with the Heat), but I'd still like to post it on the blog, just to get it out there lol.. cant talk my wife about it haha, she just found out D. Howard left Orl (her "favorite" team) so I come here to express my crazy ideas..

We can substitute Ray to the backcourt for RIO or Coles if we need to get marginally longer. Kidd-Gilcrist, really? Let's just go after Tony Allen if we want defense on the perimeter, or Stevenson from the Pacers.

Posted by: Smitty | Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 04:21 AM

Don't mind me. Just thought u knew Dorell signed w/Portland, was just messing around to keep us awake. Also got no problems w/crazy (tho some obviously do).

....also, LBJ is the best defender in the league and Wade is a great perimeter defender when he is motivated to be, and we are looking to bring someone new into the rotation who is slower and marginally taller?????????????

You are correct sir, I just don't get it.

The defensive rotations would be solid, and the run outs would come more often....

This can't get out.... This top secret shhiiitt!!!!

you know what I need to ask this.. lol ... So there has been a rumor going around for the longest that Melo and Bron want to play together before they get out of the NBA.. soooo.. IF ... BIG IF. that statement is true, do you think Melo comes to Miami, Bron to NY, or they jet to a different team like the bobcats??

You dumb as a rock with dat statement Smitty. The Bobcats??? Man you crazy dumb. 007, all things Heat, I'm just sayin. Dam

At *this* moment, I think half of that is true: Melo wants to play w/Bron. But until/unless Wade and/or Bosh disintegrate, no way Bron prefers Melo + STAT over a healthy Wade + Bosh. All court everything aside, Bron's signature is defense, making teammates better. Melo is illiterate in both contexts.

Remember Game 2, Heat-Pacers? You won't ever see Bron dap Melo like he did George for the latter's shutdown D. I mean, they're bros & all that. But Bron respects the game while Melo worships boxscore.

lol Black - I know you couldn't hear the inflection in my voice signifying as the bobcats being a joke.. but it is a possibility. No one thought Bron was going to turn down a lot more money just to come to Miami and play..

Posted by: BLACK | Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 08:59 PM

C'mon BLACK. Why is Smitty crazy dumb for asking? We ALL say crazy dumb things about SOMEthing. It don't make us crazy dumb screw-loose, dumb, crazy, stupid monkey idiots about everything.

Ugh. Also ain't no nanny. Don't need my permission to say/do whatever. Also don't need my presence cuz moi certainly can live w/out it.

that the second time someone posted to my account... Thats not me.. wow....

The powers that be are trying to start some mess here.... Watch what comes out on this blog to start BS.... Twice posts can out or through, and I didn't post them.... Gotta check up on this Joe....

just changed it and now y'all see it....

When the fan base is 100% behind you and for you, they hate on that....

This year will be difficult for sure.... They watching... Keep your eyes open....

just added 5 more plays...

hacking my account guys... wow...

lol wow.. someone really hacked you. thats funnny..

@taheati
-Good point, about the Heat and Pacers series.. Bron did train with george and became friends, and I dont think he shares that "friendship" with melo like he does with Wade and George.. Plus Melo and Brons game are total oppisites, definitely wouldnt gel.. But I just wanted to know if more people had any more fidelity about that situation. I dont think bron will leave, but I do think Bron, Bosh, and Wade all opt out of their contracts and renegotiate their salaries. (Bosh possibly might not return) but wade and bron will stay.

I'm hoping they all stay....

Every team out there wants this team to be broken up..

Gotta keep the guys together.... Not sure how.... But if they stay, this team should have many more title runs....

But watch the hate come as usual from everywhere....

Hell, I'm just a fan, and I get it all over the place....

Damn....

Yeah y'all, there's something going on with some posts.... Watch your posts, and watch if someone posts something with your handle.... This happened to me here and on twitter....

Sounds like someone or people are trying to stir up some BS, within our heavily enriched fan base... We enjoy talking Heat basketball.... Is this a crime... Or has the hate reached the fans tooo....

Crazy.... But, hey, it is what it is....

We move forward....

I thought if you have a screen name on a website, that no one else could use that same name....

How is it, that my BLACK title was used on here twice without me using it????

I went into my profile and changed it to The Real Black......

Changed my black the trucker to 3peat.....

If you see BLACK, from now on, it's not me....

Whoever this is....

You can't change how we or I feel about talking the Heat and you will not cause any kind of riff on this blog....

GO AWAY....

Hahahaha funny stuff! the real black

Good Morning Heat Nation.....

Good Sunday Morning....

My bad Saturday Morning....

Hey they real black,
SETH CURRY signed to a training with Warriors..

@Smitty

Just call me Black... But hey, caught the news on Curry.... Hilton Armstrong and Terrance Jennings would be nice for training camp....

I'm officially passing on the 2014 version of Lamar Odom as a prospective Heat player.

Doesn't have his life together and wants to play with the Lakers. And we probably don't have to ask Mark Cuban how L.O. plays when he's not where he wants to be. NBA/Kardasian - looks like he's making the wrong choice.

...and this from the "FINALLY" file...

after pushing the Spurs to the brink of another championship, Tracy McGrady retires. One more name that doesn't have to be thrown up at the trade deadline in February. Maybe now we can concentrate on Corey Magetti's old self.

Where the hell is Joey Goodman??????????????????????????????????????????
