Heat signs Chris Andersen and Jarvis Varnado

Needing a spark in the frontcourt, the Heat signed veteran forward/center Chris Andersen to a 10-day contract on Sunday. The team also resigned rookie Jarvis Varnado to another 10-day deal.

Andersen, who averaged 5.3 points and 4.6 rebounds in 32 games last season for Denver, replaced Josh Harrellson on the Heat's roster. Harrellson's 10-day contract ended on Saturday. Andersen will likely make his Heat debut on Wednesday against the Raptors.

The addition of Andersen adds size to the Heat's second-unit, which lacked a traditional rebounding presence.

You go Birdman ! Dang..feel like Trucker today just posting like a crazy person. Let's hope this dude sees the floor...especially when the level of play gets really amped up & some smash-mouth is required !

Stupid to say andersen will bring size because harrelson had the same...i hope he will go on the court more often than josh

Disagree laccjpa....

Birdman plays ABOVE the rim. Not Josh, he seemed to like to hang out at the 3 pt line. NOT GOOD....and NOT what the heat needed to see. We don't need more 6'10' guys hanging out for three ball. Even then, he only shot 1 of 5. I can do that !

No Risk here, since it's 10 day. Will be a blast to see Birdman knock some heads !! We need a LOT more banging on this team. UD can't do it by himself.

Good signing !!! Love it

Wait and see... Hope he does work... We could use some size and rebounding...
