So, here's what Larry Bird had to say after Game 5:
"I can't believe my team went soft. S.O.F.T. I'm disappointed. I never thought it would happen."
Apparently, spelling the word 'soft' has a more powerful effect than just saying it. I wonder what Pat Riley would spell after Game 5. B.L.O.O.D. E.L.B.O.W. W.A.R.R.I.O.R. P.U.R.I.T.Y.
In all seriousness, there was nothing soft about the Pacers on Tuesday. They just couldn't keep up. Slowing down the Heat will obviously be a priority. Miami outscored the Pacers 22-2 in fast-break points.

Lol. Hope we're still LMAO Fri morning.

"Miami outscored the Pacers 22-2 in fast-break points."
And even if the Heat can't runout every poss, they can still shrink/breakdown Pacer bigs my making THEM move. Nuff said.
Posted by: taheati | Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 01:06 PM
Sorry for the scatter. Just had to prop Rio for E-L-E-V-E-N boards. That + Miami stops (nod to JA et al) REALLY helped the break.
Posted by: taheati | Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 01:12 PM
They got out rebounded by 20 when they are clearly a much bigger team. (Hibbert 7'2") that's the softness Bird was talking about.
Posted by: Rches7578 | Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 02:18 PM
The Heat Man Up for 1 game and Larry Starts crying. U see what i'm talking about. I just want the same for my team.
Posted by: Dashi | Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 02:32 PM
Bird is playing reverse psychology w/ his team. Wants them to get ugly and instigate fights. He knows player ejections are the only way to take our guys out of the line up so they can have a chance of winning. A tool's move.
Posted by: buxster | Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 03:34 PM
That tool has won at whatever he does. I'd take him as a Coach over the joke we have any day. This is NBA Playoff Basketball. Not the WNBA pre-season. U have to want it more that's who wins not the most talented. As we have seen from last year

E.L.B.O.W...........See I can spell too

Good win, I would like to add that he just made a great point. If they force us to get into a fight with them that shortens up who we have available and without bosh we can't let them take us pout of our game... Have to be smarter than that... We play the game of basketball... I'm not going to say just let someone just keep hitting you like these guys are doing, but don't get caught up in that bs Bird is talking about... Have to take them out in 6.. Get rid of this team NOW...tbc...007....
Posted by: black the trucker | Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 06:30 PM
Black...that's pretty classic stuff.
Yep...Game 3 had me staring into the abyss. To me...whether you or lose...it's how you play the game. Game 3 really had me upset.
Now...like the song - I can see clearly now - the rain is gone. Well...not quite. This Pacer team will still be a tough out especially at home.
I really hope someone accidentally steps on Granger's face. The high pick & roll especially with Wade seems to have awakened him. Attitude to me means everything. LeBron has been magnificent this whole year.
I know the Spurs, Thunder, & Celtics are super tough opponents for the Heat especially without Bosh...but fellas...go like a fighter pilot - numbing fatigue, faceless danger, to a fiery death !

If the Refs call the game how's it suppose to be called the Heat don't have to Stoop to the other teams level. We will win everytime if they call it down the middle.
If Spo would get at the refs and at the media for the no calls (Show some "FIRE SPO"). Our players won't have to play just like the other team. Unless Spo is already telling the refs what the other team is doing and nothing happens (Doubt it). Then u go out and Demand ur Respect.
Teams play dirty against the heat cause they can't physically compete with Us. U can play High Intensity defense and not be dirty or foul like crazy. JA and Lebron do it all the time.
That's what Kerr saw. If I can stir the pot and get rid of their big men by running my mouth "Flagrant 2 Flagrant 2". Maybe my Pacers can win game 6. Nah, we still going to win by 20 Buddy.
They Should Eliminate an Announcer/Analyst every time their team losses a series against Us. I know, The Finals will only have Marv talking to us, but at least all of us will be able to listen to the game. Not just the other team. They will only have Magic left doing the Half-time show. No Berry or Wilpon. Yes!!

WOWWWWW, ud gone for game 6.... DAMMMMM..... What about their players and how they have been fouling us.... WOWWWWW...
Posted by: black the trucker | Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 10:11 PM
Thank You ESPN and Steve Kerr. WOWWWWW is right Black
Hey Bird u think the NBA was S.O.F.T. on the suspensions. Not on ur team i hope.
His guys start it. We get called out on it. He still keeps talking about it, how his team should play H.A.R.D. and bang the next day. No Blood? No Foul? Look at the Heat.
Yet, We get suspended by the NBA and Crucified by the Media.
Posted by: Dashi | Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 10:43 PM
Larry Bird's quote was taken waaaaaay out of context.
What he said was in fact a Sesame Street spelling skit for regional Indiana public television. The letter of the day was in fact "S" and they had Bird talk about his team in jest.
They start the kids early in basketball culture up there. Hardcore.
Posted by: buxster | Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 01:29 AM
So we ruffled Mr. Big Bird's feathers
Thats' the problem they've been playing hardcore like late-nite cinemax and we play like public access.
I don't think Spo knows how to curse or is against yelling at his own team. Maybe he should go and learn a couple letters today a B, an A, and a couple L's
Posted by: Dashi | Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 07:45 AM
So much for the hater's theory that the NBA wants Miami in the finals. We suite up only 11 players. It wouldn't surprise me if JA and Turiaf got into foul trouble
. Don't be suprise if JJ plays minutes at PF. Refs will call it tight and Indy will get a pass.
Posted by: jpejeff | Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 08:09 AM
I think we win regardless unless Bron gets into foul trouble. They would really be trying to screw the Heat over then.
Posted by: jpejeff | Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 08:15 AM
The only smart guy in the media that calls it how it is: Collin Herd.
Posted by: g007 | Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 09:41 AM
They did that and he went off in the 4th for like 20. Cause if u give a lebron a couple minutes off a quarter he's well rested going into the 4.
People ever wonder why "sometimes" he fails in the end, it could be cause he played the last 47 and 1/2. Maybe 40 min a game will keep him fresh. Jordan use to sit out the first 6 of the fourth. so when he came in to "Finish" he'll be Running around fresh while the other teams got tired legs. that's why Phil's a genius. Kobe isn't "the finisher" now without someone managing his minutes right
I hate when I hear a "coach" say, he HAD to play all 12 in the fourth. Really u don't trust ur team or ur coaching ability for 2 minutes to give ur guy a chance to catch a 2nd wind. Give JJ a couple looks in the fourth. That's why u also have another superstar. U don't think the rules that apply to wade apply to lebron. Wade finishes better because he gets to catch his wind to finish. Lebron has to catch his wind on the court that's why he'll take a break on the court in the 4th of games. Sit him down for a couple minutes, cause a tired lebron is the bad lebron everyone loves. One that will stand around and do nothing in the fourth.
he's taking a break on the court cause someone won't bench him. Once u see he's stops hustlin. sit him down. to at least talk(motivate) to him, or to get his 2nd wind to "finish" a game

Dashi
Your coaching experience must be immense. Care to share?
Posted by: greg gembe | Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 10:56 AM
Yea I'ma Video Cordinator.
Posted by: Dashi | Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 11:15 AM
Video Coordinator, huh?
And exactly what are you videoing and what are you coordinating and for who, cause I think you are flat out lying. I don't believe, based on your blind assessment of how the Heat coach performs his job, that you've ever coached men, boys, or girls on ANY level.
Care to take another stab at your experience as a leader on the sidelines?
Posted by: greg gembe | Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 11:33 AM
Dashi.......... You got any porn? He has been looking fresher. Hope i dont see him starting the 4th after playing the entire 3rd anymore.
Posted by: jpejeff | Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 11:41 AM
I'm just stating my opinion.
I've watched alot of great coaches (Riley, Phil, Sloan, Popabitch) over the years and SPO is not one. He doesn't have "it". Whatever "it" is he doesn't have it. look at the young crop of coaches Thibodeau, Brooks, even Vogel. They seem to have "it".
Thibodeau has been a head coach a lot less than SPO, and accomplished alot more already. He's a great defensive coach. Yet, even without rose they manage to run a offense. Plus He has way less offensive talent than the heat at his disposal.
A great coach does things before us the casual fan sees it. I don't want to be yelling at the TV to call a timeout when the other team is on a 12-0 run. Or Miller is acting a fool
The simple things like letting Battier shoot and not JJ. Everybody "Standing Around" even when they are not tired, that might be Lebron's excuse. What's everyone else's? They got no place to go?
Oh yeah and "Consistency". Why can we score 120 when everyone plays, but only 75 when only 7 play. U don't have to win with defense when u can score 120. U finish blowing them out with defense. Whats better defensive player of the year or MVP. Lebron, MJ , Bird, or Magic ever won a defensive POY.

Dashi
one things for sure, Lebron's not going to play less minutes tonight with UD out...not gona happen. He'll continue to guard & play his position of F/G/PG/PF/C.
Posted by: Heatup | Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 11:45 AM
Exactly wtf has Thibs accomplished?? Running his team to the ground the entire season to get the #1 spot in the East only to get bounced out the first round??? That's exactly what you're complaining about with Spo...your credibility is starting to stink like sun dried turd.
Posted by: Heatup | Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 11:50 AM
Yeah today should be the exception not the rule though.
But if we get up by 10 give him a minute or 2.
Funny Wasn't SPO a video Cordinator to?
I'm just analyzing and stating my opinion like the ESPN guys. does john barry or steve kerr have coaching experience?
Posted by: Dashi | Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 11:56 AM
Thibs Accomplishments in 2 years
1 Coach of the year almost 2-time
2 All Star game coach
3 best record in the confernce 2 years running
4 Stole a MVP trophy from Lebron
5 Top ranked Defense
Oh and he won a title with boston coaching their defense, they haven't won 1 since he left.
SPOs Accomplishments since being Heat head coach
?
?
?
?
?
I hate the Bulls but he's a good coach
Posted by: Dashi | Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 12:03 PM
You don't have to be a politician to have a opponion on your leaders. Spo is average coach. This year will tell if this team needs more than average.
Posted by: jpejeff | Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 12:04 PM
Hey greg funny how i haven't coached at any level
Did SPO coach at or play at any level before being handed the heat job
Posted by: Dashi | Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 12:08 PM
Sidestepping the issue like Prime Time, huh?
My guess is you've never coached a basketball team at ANY level, probably haven't even played since high school, and are just repeating what your homeboys are saying sitting around the bar at Ruby Tuesday's, thinking you're Skip Bayless and Steven A. Smith.
Damn, you make a person wish Sledge was posting again, with your ridiculous comments.
Posted by: greg gembe | Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 01:39 PM
All those so called acomplishments hasn't gotten the Bulls $h!t...They can keep em, i'll be happy with Spo having the last laugh while holding the O'brian trophy.
Posted by: Heatup | Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 01:59 PM
Again, are we talking basketball guys?
About ur coaching comments? Nope, don't need one to be an Analyst. Just need to be Bias
I played Baseball pretty good all through out high school (Varcity since 9th grade). Got some trophies. I'm no Al Bundy though. I Gave basketball up when my pops told me in 9th grade. Son, U will never grow up to be 6'6(Ouch, I'm 6'). U need to be tall or a world-class Great little man to be in the NBA. He said use my athleticism on something else. Since, I'm Dominican U know what the next option is right.
But this isn't about my Athletical Achievements. Or my buddy's. If someone was helping me. Dang, They must have alot of stuff to say. All original, Buddy. Let me guess U eat at Friday's. Better day of the week, Clown.
Again, I've been reading for Years (I remember sledge), but my first post was after game 3. When i couldn't take it anymore as a concerned heat fan and had to speak up about the one Major flaw i see wrong with this team.
I'll be happy if the "Heat" and Spo win the title too. It's just after he wins 2 or 3. He's in the hall-of-fame "Automatically". Not that many Coaches in "NBA History" with more than 4 NBA titles. Probably, 5 in total. Are U ready to put SPO in that category. Not me.
