Mourning on Wade: "He's very much worthy of the MVP"
Former Heat center Alonzo Mourning believes that Dwyane Wade's impact on the Heat this season makes him deserving of the MVP.
"I know LeBron is having
an amazing season but if you take LeBron off that team then the Cavs are
still going to be a great ball club," Mourning said on ESPN's First Take Monday. "If you take D-Wade off the Heat, then they wouldn't be in the position they're in today. I feel
like based on the impact he's had on both sides of the ball, I feel
he's very much worthy of the MVP award."
Having fallen short of the MVP himself, Mourning acknowledged, "The MVP race is so political."
Not surprisingly, Mourning is most impressed by Wade's defense this season.
"I had a great conversation with him before he went off to the
Olympics," Mourning said. "I said, 'If you want to elevate your game, everybody knows you can
score, but if you're more consistent defensively, not only will you
improve your game, it will help stimulate the play of your teammates.'
"His defense has become contagious for this team and it's the reason why they're successful."
Mourning said he is "excited to have had an influence on him, I kind of look at him as a little brother."
"I know what kind of player he is capable of being and I think he's just scratched the surface," Mourning said. "He had 55 points (Sunday) night and he did it with ease. Defensively he's having such an impact on the game, that's why I'm more biased when you talk about MVP's."

Hands down lebron james get the M.V.P this year. Wade was strong this year but to compare him with james, the choice would have to go to lebron.

DWADE IS MVP!! NOT CAUSE I AM A HEAT FAN BUT BASED ON THE DEFINITION ITSELF OF MVP! ALL IN ALL THE CAVS WILL STILL BE VERY SUCCESSFUL WITHOUT LEBRON.

The MVP is an award to the favourite player of the moment. Wade has had a more significant impact on his team and leads Lebron and the league in many statistical categories, yet he wont win as this year was declared from last year to be Lebron's. Time for the award to be scrapped.

Historically, the winner of the MVP award has gotten his team at least 50 wins.
Maybe next year.

Its not fair to wade or any other player that seeks the mvp that team win total makes such a big difference. So if you telling me wade and james switch win totals james would still win the MVP i don't think so. To add to it if you were to switch wade and James to each other team the heat would be Worst of and the Cavs would be better off.

Lebron laying it up: o.k.
Lebron dunking with two hands: crazy
Lebron dunking with one hand: amazing
Wade winning the title while Lebron got swept: Priceless

Lebrons 5 offensive moves:
Layup
Dunk
Freethrow
Chucking up prayers from the perimeter
I'm missing one, oh yeah the crab dribble

" I said get naked girl, you think I'm playing!"
" Shaq I didn't know your ass tasted like mango, I was expecting cinamon.Hmmmmmmm"

the mvp award should go to the best player on the best team.
lebron deserves the mvp, unless the heat can upset the cavs in the second round of the playoffs. now THAT would make d-wade the mvp

MVP or not Dwyane Wade is the best player in the game. He is better than Kobe and Lebron.

Well said.
The MVP is not about the Most Valuable Player to "his team," but to the NBA. Lebron has the media hype machine behind him and the NBA talking heads slobbering all over him.
That said, Wade needs to do a better job from the foul line to earn a bit more respect. There are about 3 games this season that Miami could have won if the team, and specifically Wade, had executed at the charity stripe. Free throw shooting is contagious, and if the team leader is clanging them, the others will follow the trend.
I still think he is up there with Lebron because of his impact to the game, and he is DEFINITELY Defensive Player of the Year.

I am MR HEAT, but if you really think about it. WHO DOES CLEVELAND HAVE? MO WILLIAMS? he was a loser in milwaukee, delonte west? Varejo? They play 2gether well. thats it. BUT< they can be beat in the playoffs by DWADE. They lose 1 at home, things will unravel. It hasnt happened all yr, --with that said, dwade and lbj are about even but lebron won 65 games . HEAT BEAT ATLANTA in 6 and take CLE TO A GAME 7, then its up to us.

I agree with zo that Wade should be the MVP because he has had a bigger impact on his team than Lebron has on the defensive side of the ball. Also we know what the heat will be without out Wade just look at last year. If you take Lebron off the Cavs they still will make the playoffs in a weak eastern conference.
