Saturday Camp Report: Showtime

The Heat used a Saturday morning scrimmage to finalize its gameplan and rotation for Sunday's preseason debut against the Detroit Pistons.

Like you, the media will learn the details at tipoff. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra is keeping just about everything close to the vest these days. He wasn't willing to tip his hand on the starting five for Sunday's game. But here's a pretty good guess.

Point guard: Chris Quinn. Shooting guard: Dwyane Wade. Small Forward: Shawn Marion. Power forward: Michael Beasley. Center: Mark Blount.

No surprised there. Beasley would likely start if Udonis Haslem decides to rest his improving left foot. No need to rush that injury. And Mark Blount could get the nod at center as the player with the only significant experience within the Heat's system. And until Shaun Livingston gets up to speed conditioning-wise and playbook-wise, Quinn is the best bet right now at the point.

- In other developments Saturday, the Heat released swingman Matt Walsh, a former University of Florida standout who is now free to find a spot where he has a better chance to make the team. The Heat will take 18 players to Europe next week for its two exhibition games.

- Shawn Marion said he wasn't surprised by how smooth Shaun Livingston looked on the court Saturday in his first team practice in nearly 20 months. "I've been seeing him all summer work out in Chicago, so this is nothing new to me," Marion said. "He's going to pick our stuff fast. He's been a point guard all of his career, and he's going to come in and run the offense."

If Livingston can shoot 3pointers now then he's a good fit for our PG.

If not? Phuck him, play Quinn or Banks.
