Rose and Beasley's Futures (Updated)
Two prime targets for the Heat if it lands a top pick in the draft would be forward Michael Beasley and Derrick Rose. Beasley, a freshman Kansas State forward, declared he will turn pro Monday. It sounds like Rose could follow soon.
Rose has yet to schedule a news conference, but word is he made his decision, according to several published reports. Apparently Rose is close to hiring one of the top sports agents in Arn Tellem, which would seal the Memphis guard' s fate for the draft.
Memphis coach John Calipari's advice to guard Rose, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal: "I said, 'You're No. 1 or No. 2 in the draft. Now you just have to make a decision. Do you want to eat Gummi Bears and Twizzlers? You stay another year. My suggestion was, you need to go, but I'm not the one that has to play. I'm suggesting it, but you've got to know you're mentally and physically ready."
Who would you rather have on the Heat, Rose or Beasley?

We have to get lucky finally. In 89, we got the 4th pick when we had a 15 win season. In 90, we got the 3rd pick with an 18 win season, and in 91 we got the 5th pick. Fortunately, Rice was the best player in the 89 draft and steve smith was a top3 in 91, SO what I am getting at is we are due for lotto luck. All those bad heat teams ,and the ping pong balls bounced the wrong way. I am happy with either 1, 2, or even 3 WITH OJ MAYO, who was supposed to be the best pg coming out of high school ahead of DRose. I say we take mayo at 3 over the corpse of brook lopez. And, if we get unlucky lotto love and get 4, maybe someone takes lopez so we can still get mayo. If not, Id take bayless over lopez at 4. We can get brand or jermain oneil, we need a backcourt stud to push the ball

My big board is -
1. Beasley
2. Rose
3. Lopez
4. Mayo
We already have a threat on perimeter in Wade. Post play is our biggest need right now, so Beasley would be a good pick at #1.
If we fall out of the top 2, I say go Brook Lopez. He's one of the top prospects in this draft. He could become a good NBA center.
Again, post play is the biggest team need right now.

You have to go with Rose as the number 1 pick if we get it. With Rose, Wade, Marion, Haslem' you would have a team that can run up and down other teams throat. I say try and sign Emeka Okafor to fill the center spot. He can be our Tyson Chandler (Breakout year with New Orleans) Or fill that spot next year when we have cap space. I would be just as happy if we had Beasley though.

I like Rose, but it will be really hard to pass on Beasley!
QUESTION: When does the draft lottery take place?
Thanks!!

Draft Lottery May 20

Rose, Rose, and Rose. Those are the top 3 picks. I will keep saying it until it's official. Beasley is 6'7" not 6'10" and not 6'9". He is an undersized power forward who plays below the rim. Yes, he will score and rebound (defensive boards off of missed free throws) but he will struggle to finish inside over taller players. Lopez is as soft as tissue paper. Lopez won't rebound or play defense. How long will Riley keep him on the court when he steps in to take a charge on a guard instead of going up to swat the ball? Rose is the best player in the draft and he plays the point which is 1 of the 2 toughest positions to fill.

I've always said that you don't need to take a point guard at the top of the draft because they are a dime a dozen and you can always buy one, but Rose is the real deal!! Beasley is good but watching some of his games, I doubt he will be as successful in the NBA. Alot of his points are over smaller defenders. Besides, Beasley is the same player as Shawn Marion (which we already have).
With Rose though, you lock up the point for years and D-Wade doesn't have to worry about bringing the ball up the court. This year he had a bunch of turnovers because he was playing point and he's better off at the 2. We HAVE to go with Rose.
Question: I know we have the Magic's pick in the 2nd round but do we have our 2nd round pick or did that go to Minnesota in the trade?

Either or,but Rose seems like the better fit.Unselfish scoring at the point is what Wade brought to the table, but turn-overs and lack of good finishers hurt sometimes.Rose can cut down on the TOs and with wade, adding a good 3 point shooter and shawn finishing we'll be alright.Oh yeah,Rose is not a bad finisher himself.Mo
Zo would be a bonus, but we still need to get a big man who can play D AND REBOUND!Can't fix all our problems in 1 year. Inside scoring will come with all the flexibility we gonna have.

Well..this is a very tough choice...i mean at this point the HEAT needs both a PG and SF/PF so either choice would be fine. But i think were gonna need a PG in Derrick Rose better for the HEAT for years to come..he'll complement Wade nicely in the backcourt and i'm sure itll be alot of fun watchin the two of em play...not to mention the matrix along side if he returns..
PG-Rose
SG-Wade
SF-Marion
PF-Haslem
C -Mourning
But if we Draft Beasley...it'll be interesting to see if Beasley and Haslem play with eachother...i have a feeling we might pull off a monster trade includin Haslem....who knows Brand? lol doubt it but ya never know..

Rose would be a great pick for us but at this point he is not a great shooter. What are we going to do when teams pack in the lane and dare us to shoot. Marion, Wade, and Rose are not great 3 point shooters. We need a low post post player like Beasley who can get easy buckets. We also need someone who can rebound. This year we got destroyed on the boards.

i have thought rose is the main option form the begining of the conversation.. the heat need a point. ... the question is who do we take if we land 3 or 4... that is why i have always hated the lottery. even if you secure the worst record you still can be picking 4th! ... the worst team in the league does not need the 4th best in the draft. they need the #1

Rose
Wade
Marion
Haslem
Emeka Okafor...
Tell Riley we need a defensive player & Emeka has proven that, We also need Zo to come back too
